❤️ A Very Shameless Love Confession ❤️
It's finally done! After one year of creating the original sketches, I finished this comic project!
I remember having a strong cinematic visual of this scene in my mind, where it's raining and Wei Wuxian is with his hair undone. And this is the outcome hehehe
I had so much fun with this! It was such a great experience to play with the expressions, the gestures, the movement, the angles. It was a learning experience for me.
I hope you enjoy the final piece as much as I enjoyed creating it!
HAPPY UPCOMING VALENTINES DAY!

Regret and Auto-Memories Doll
A smiling Auto-Memories Doll in a pure white wedding dress
Next to her is Gilbert. The two of them are perfect for each other I'm sure the whole world will celebrate
But
I was the one who picked it up. It was me who found her.
If I hadn't used it as a weapon If I hadn't thrown it away.
I should have been the one standing next to you.
All I feel is regret

The Legend
"I love you, Violet.”
"I've always wanted to do this.”
"I've been wanting to do this for a long time," Gilbert said as he hugged Violet in the moonlit night. Violet buried her face in Gilbert's chest, her clothes soaking wet and tears streaming down her face.
“Violet, you must come to my house first. You'll catch a cold. And you need to dry your clothes.”
“Yes, Major.”
As Gilberto said that, holding Violet's hand who was hugging him, he went back towards the island, and the islanders were buzzing around, watching the two of them.
W-Why, why? Why are there so many people here? It's outrageously embarrassing!
Gilbert was surprised to see that even though it was already dark, quite a few islanders had gathered.
“Who is that woman, Gilbert-sensei?”
"Young man, take good care of her.”
“Who is that woman, Gilbert-sensei? You can't make a beautiful woman like that cry.”
“Oh, no, Gilbert, you can't hug a woman. I mean, who is that woman?”
"Her name is Violet," he said. She just fell down there, screaming and yelling.
Gilbert overheard the islanders talking about various things, such as cold-shouldering, scolding, jealousy, etc. He suddenly felt embarrassed and reddened, held hands with Violet, and returned home.
After that, the story became a legend, and neither Gilberto nor Violet had any idea that what Gilberto and Violet did on that day would later become a custom on the island of Ekarte. The legend was that if you ran as fast as you could, up the slope leading to the beach while continuously shouting the name of the person you loved, your love would come true, and the legend would live on for generations.

Dietfried: Hey! What are you trying to do?
Violet: Captain's sleeping face is nice.
D: Huuuh?
V: It was pure and defenseless. Unlike the ones you have now.
D: I know I'm handsome so quit staring will 'ya!
V: .....But that's not what I'm going to say.
D: What?
V: Captain, you're an easy prey. There is no doubt that a predator like me will come to haunt you down. Fear not. Undine shall be your sword and shield.
D: Shut up, ■■■■!

“You and I can’t be together.”
Tumblr media
The girl’s usual expressionlessness slowly crumbled. She repeatedly opened and closed her mouth, attempting to say something. However, probably unable to find the right words, she looked at the Bougainvillea mansion and shook her head like a child throwing a tantrum in refusal.
“Go; just go.”
“I—do not—want to.”
“Don’t talk back. I don’t need you. Go be used by a different owner.”
“I—do not—want to… I do not want to…”
“I’m telling you I don’t need you! Hurry and go!”
The girl tried to grasp Dietfried’s arm. Yet Dietfried began walking away before she could do so. He just uncaringly headed to the carriage that was parked a little far from the residence’s front gate.
“Captain.”
The girl was coming after him. Her voice was loaded with feelings of desperation.
——What’s up with you?
“Captain, Captain—”
——Even though you usually have no emotions.
“Captain, I do not—want this! Captain! Please give me—an order!”
——Even though you only think of me as a tool to receive orders.
“Captain! Captain! I will—properly learn—how to read!”
——Could’ve been anyone, right? Even if it weren’t me, anyone should do for you.
“Plea—se! Captain—I do not—want this, Captain!”
——Even if it weren’t me, you would…
“Captain… Captain… I will—do anything, Captain… Captain…”
——Even if it weren’t me, you would’ve been okay with it. Isn’t that it?
Dietfried turned around to check if her voice had died down. The same old girl was not there. Her wild beast figure from their first encounter had disappeared as well.
“Please, do not leave me—on my own…”
The one standing there was the infant that Dietfried had taught how to speak.
Dietfried looked at the child in front of him as if he had grown senile. She was crying. That beast of a girl, who did not cry no matter how many wounds she earned, was weeping. And also appealing to him with the things that she could do.
“I can fight; I can also—carry your belongings; and—put your—shirt on—for you.”
She was desperately bringing up what she could do to prove her existence.
“My wounds—heal quickly as well; I can—kill your enemies too; I will do anything.”
How could she assert her being?
“Please let me… Captain…”
What could she do to stay by Dietfried Bougainvillea’s side? She was attempting to certify her existence. In reality, Dietfried had misjudged her.
The girl had properly ascertained who her lord was.
If it could have been anyone else, there were several people other than him. Yet he was the one she had chased after. The wild beast had instinctively sensed and pursued him.
She had followed him while embracing the wish that, if it was a human like him, an adult like him, then surely…
“I can—be used; I can become—an optimal tool.”
…he would not leave her.
Had he not bestowed her with words and used her as a mere tool, she would never have said such a thing. Dietfried had failed.
Combing her hair and patiently teaching her about daily lifestyle had done no good. Neither had the fact that he taught her what to do and how to fight whenever she encountered difficulties while by herself. None of it had done any good.
Even without Dietfried Bougainvillea himself realizing it…
Tumblr media
“Please, let me be—by your side.”
…the wild beast was turning into a person.
The complete darkness of the night was gradually fading.
Dietfried slowly changed his course. He turned to the crying child. One step after another, he moved toward the girl.
“Do you need me?”
He then reached out his hands, holding her small body in his arms.
“Yes.”
With an awkwardness similar to holding an animal for the first time, he supported her from the back.
“Even if I say I don’t need you, do you need me?”
In doing that, the two looked like one.
“Yes; please, do not leave me alone.”
They looked like a single living being, formed through a combination of distorted shapes.
“I see.”
Dietfried felt that the dark things squirming inside his chest until now were clearing up. His feelings for her, which were close to hatred, dimmed away as well. Same for the anger towards himself and his inferiority complex regarding the rest of the world. Illuminated by the gentle sunlight, they all faded and disappeared, just like the deep dark colors of the night.
——I see; so I wanted something like this, Dietfried thought vacantly while embracing the child that clung to him.
He felt like he understood why he was always so irritated at this girl. Just as she wanted to prove herself, he also wanted others to accept him.
Socially, he was acknowledged. He also had subordinates who idolized him. However, Dietfried…
——I wanted this.
…wanted that wild beast to acknowledge. To acknowledge him.
The times when he truly thought that he wanted to kill her had passed. So had the times when he wanted to push her onto someone else. And the times in which he tried to use her solely as a tool until she collapsed, just like a slave, were passing as well. They were now morphing into wondering about what he could do to make her last, to have her live.
They were properly changing towards the direction of the light.
“Then, be by my side.”
That was why he wanted to acknowledge as well. No matter how distorted a shape they had.
The child and man then welcomed the first morning in which they acknowledged each other.

Dear Major Gilbert,
Please forgive me for intruding suddenly.
This is the last letter I'll be writing to you.
The reason why I am alive and is able to fondly think of someone is all thanks to you.
Thank you very much for taking me in.
For reading books to me, for teaching me the alphabet amongst many other things, thank you very much. For buying the brooch for me, thank you very much.
For always, always, always being by my side, thank you very much.
Thank you for loving me.
And because you said you love me, those words became my way of living. And since I found out what love is, I've wanted to say the words back to you.
Major Gilbert, thank you very much.
Thank you for everything.
I love you.

VE Movie Soliloquy
"Farewell, Violet. Please be happy with Gilbert."
Those were the last words she heard before the ship leaves for Ekarte Island. A few minutes from now, Violet will be a permanent resident of that Island. The thought of living with Gilbert in the same house makes her heart flutter in happiness and nervousness. Violet did not know what to do, what to think, and what to feel. Somehow, Violet still feels like she is dreaming of something wonderful. The days where she spent in anguish was like a fleeting nightmare to her, where she was unable to pull down the desperate feelings that bloomed inside her. Everyone might think of her as a fool, a fool who keeps on chasing the back of her 'deceased' loved one. At first, She didn't understand why people are desperate when they are in love, but now, she terribly understood what it truly means to be in love.
Who would have known that the man she deeply cherished would be alive somewhere far away? The tears that she accumulated throughout the years were blown away by a piece of news. Violet rushed to where he is, closed ears, not listening to the President's plea. She ran, ran, and ran; Thousands of misleading thoughts suffocated her like a thundering tornado. Will he be happy? Will he accept her? Will he push her away? Perhaps her existence will only hurt him more. Yes, her presence is afflicting the Major. Being told that she was no longer needed pierced her greatly. The door that separates them was like a 38 degree parallel line; Indicating that it was forbidden to cross. Violet uttered that she understood his feelings well, even if they did not talk face to face, just by hearing his soothing voice was both pleasing and painful to her. She ran, ran, and ran, unable to accept the decision she made, and in the middle of the storm, she sat, unable to utter a word, unable to cry, and unable to scream. A teardrop fell from that glistening blue eyes and the stormy rain began to increase as if to sympathize with her.
In the end, she had to leave the Ekarte Island. She regretted the fact that she was unable to confess her feelings. Violet wanted to convey 'I love you' to Gilbert, but she doesn't have the courage to say it. She doesn't have the courage to do so. Now, she understands why many people have to endure such a feeling. She was an Auto-Memories Doll but she herself was but a coward who cannot convey what she wanted to say.
Violet entrusted a letter to a resident, hoping that it would reach him safely. With heavy steps and regrets, she headed for the ship, back to Leidenschaftlich, and with that, the ship departed in painful silence.
"VIOLETTOOOOO!!!"
A man's thundering roar echoed throughout the mountains and waves. That voice alone made her heart skip a beat. It was the person who raised her and gave her warmth and kindness. It was none other than Gilbert Bougainvillea, the man who had given her a treasured name.
Your voice is my guide, after all.
Violet jumped into the ocean like a fairy that was conceived in the turbulent ocean while Gilbert ran and jumped at high speed, not caring how many times he falls to the ground. Out of too much desperation, Violet and Gilbert were finally reunited and thus, confirmed their love and promised not to let go anymore.
Tumblr media
A new era was about to begin.
The people who knew them from the very beginning may perceive their relationship as something odd because of their age differences. It didn't change the fact that the two have grown quite mature and a bit more shallow ever since they broke apart. And, not even having a single contact could take away the love that they have for each other. The two lonely people are indeed foolish enough; No one could ever occupy the hole other than themselves.

Very WHAT-IF, but um...what do you think would happen if by some off-chance thing Violet would be introduced to the main Bougainvillea family? (Like Gil’s canon sisters and mother, etc).
Had to put this under a cut because it’s lengthier than I expected, lol.
BOY. I actually think about this a lot. It seems like really good material for a sequel or for fanfiction that I might end up writing one day, lmfaooo. If we do get one, I really wish that Gil’s sisters hear rumors about Violet and do a little bit of digging on her, just to find out that they have a famous distant relative that they didn’t know of.
Violet is always really busy, so they would probably only get to meet her if they hired her, which one of them does, since she’s getting engaged (yes, I’m talking about the one that was dating Laurus). I can imagine her happily telling everyone during a meal or something about her plans of having Violet write the invitations of her engagement and wedding parties, because it’s too many to write by herself and because it’s a good opportunity of getting to know about this non-blood-related cousin of theirs.
I can also imagine Gilbert choking on whatever he had in his mouth and coughing violently upon hearing it.
It would be so damn amusing to see Violet stepping into their home for the very first time and everyone welcoming her warmly, except Gil isn’t there because he’s avoiding her like people run away from hell working. Maybe he’d come up with some sort of excuse to sleep at the ministry, which would be unknowingly ruined by Laurus because his bride would call him over to meet her lovely new cousin, who was going to help them out with their wedding preparations.

A moment with you
"I'm home..."
"Welcome home, Major!"
Violet smiled endearingly at the man who had just arrived. She wore a pale blue apron while holding a spatula in her hand. That dazzling sight makes Gilbert's heart swell in joy. It was indeed like a new wife.
"Yes...I'm back, Violet."
A tear was about to escape from his remaining eye. It hasn't been long since Violet started living with him and he somewhat felt relieved and guilty for having her tied with a man like him once again.
"Thank you for your hardwork."
Gilbert was genuinely happy at her whenever he hears a word of appreciation from Violet. Because of her, the clock that has been temporarily stopped, started moving once again. Long before they reunited, his only purpose is to live quietly and die quietly. That alone is enough since he was already dead inside. But now, he couldn't imagine a day without her. The days without her would be nothing but a painless torture.
He was suddenly embraced by a sweet scented warmth, a comforting warmth that always heals his wounded soul. He is not the same heroic Gilbert in the past. No, it's better to say that the current Gilbert is the real version of him. Even so, Violet still adored the man who gave her love.
Her cold prosthetic hand gently wiped away the tears from his eye.
"Major, the dinner is ready. It's not that much, but I hope it soothes your taste."
"Violet's food is always delicious."
Gilbert tightly embraced her and uttered his deepest gratitude for her. He firstly went to the bathroom to clean himself while Violet patiently waited for him in the dining area.
Gilbert went to where she is, placed a kiss on her cheek, and sat on the wooden chair in front of her,
"What do we have for dinner?"
"....."
"Violet is beautiful."
That was all he can say while smiling at the adorable figure of Violet, who was blushing at the moment and was basically at loss.
Violet shyly covers her face with her golden hair while she desperately endures her palpitating heartbeat.
"I...I'm sorry. I think I'm making a weird face right now."
After all, her new facial expressions pleases him deeply.
Gilbert chuckled. He stood up, ruffled her hair, and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.
"I love you, Violet."
"I...I...m- major..."
"I love you. You are beautiful."
"*blush*"
Gilbert was quiet enthralled and was eager to do more.
And the teasing continues...
The two flirted in front of the supper like there's no tomorrow and the food went cold after that.

The Painter’s Masterpiece
Today is a fine spring day to celebrate a new beginning of life and a woman named Violet Evergarden blissfully watched the swaying leaves of the Bougainvillea trees that is located in the southern part of Leidenschaftlich.
The people who caught sight of her cannot help but admire the smiling figure of Violet. It is true that her charm increases every time she let out a warm smile. The cold beauty of hers resonated to that of a blooming spring and it was an art to be reckoned with.
One of the passerby who caught sight of her is a well renowned painter, an artist who is currently looking for an inspiration. His name is Artemis Bluemenville, a young man who is a little bit older than Violet. His eyes. He watched her with a great deal of admiration, cheeks that is dyed in red, and heart that seems to be malfunctioning.
Artemis knew who she was. No, more like most of them knew who she truly is. Violet Evergarden is a famous Auto-Memories Doll, not just in Leidenschaftlich, but also in various continent. She is a demanded celebrity who was able to touch an save the hearts of many.
And the inspiration that Artemis is looking for is right in front of him. He was feeling depressed recently because that previous art that he created lack brightness and vividness. Even if it was created beautifully, that painting still doesn't satisfy him. All because...It lacks meaning and dedication.
Artemis gathered some air and breathe heavily before he courageously went to where she is.
"Miss Violet Evergarden? May I talk to you for awhile?"
Although he is quite nervous and excited at the same time, he cannot let it ruin his delicacy. He was raised as a polite man and the over enjoyment might tarnish his image.
Violet was puzzled for a moment.
"Is there anything I can do for you?" A voice that is so pure and soft echoed throughout his mind and touched his anxious soul.
He clenched his fist and teeth to calm his overly excited and nervous self.
"My name is Artemis Bluemenville. I am a painter and I would like you to be my model for my first masterpiece."
Although he created a lot of paintings, none of it gave him the feeling of satisfaction so he basically cannot call it a masterpiece.
"I..."
So here they are in the 'studio de Arte', showing off all his half hearted paintings. He had a hard time making her accept his offer and now, it feels like a dream come true for him.
"Your paintings are..." Violet paused and slowly spoke the next words, making Artemis a little bit sad. "...beyond wonderful."
"Ah, that's what everyone thinks too...but on the contrary, it lacked the essence of life.
Violet did not respond because she was completely nailed to a particular painting. Her eyes became dull and somewhat pained, as if she's trying to reminisce a distant past.
"Is there something wrong? Do you not like that painting?" He asked, quite troubled.
"My apologies. I didn't mean to put it that way. It's just that...I find it nostalgic for some reason."
"Is that so?"
"Yes." Violet once again stared at the painting.
The palette of the painting consists of blue, yellow, white, brown, and many more. It was a picture of a grand mansion in the middle of the flushy green trees and abundant field of flowers. The sea was just close by. The raging dark waves resonates to the brightness of the stars and moon.
"Can you tell me the story behind this painting?"
Artemis gave her a sad smile and nodded.
"I too, have no idea. Years ago, when I was still an amateur painter, I managed to discover a near impossible mansion in the middle of nowhere. It was actually a bazzare experience since I found it by accident. Despite its beautiful surrounding, this abandoned mansion gave me the feeling of chills and creeps. It felt eary and a bit sad but I end up painting it without releasing it to the public."
".....I see."
Is the only word she says while still eyeing that peculiar painting. Artemis suddenly remembered their conversation awhile ago.
(Flasback)
"I...cannot accept."
Thud! His hopes went down after hearing her answer. Artemis, the well known painter was rejected for the first time. But, he simply cannot give up and tried to persuade her one more time.
"May I know the reason why? If it's about the payment, I can pay you triple times. You'll become much much more popular than you are now. Please think about it." The way he sound is quite desperate but if he was asked to kneel, he will not hesitate to do it.
"I don't need the money nor the fame. You see, I simply wish to live a simple life...even if it is impossible for a person like me. I am also not someone to be bought with money." She stated at a matter of fact.
Her doll like features shows nothing but an expressionless look.
"Oh no! Please forgive my insolence. That is not my intention at all. My only wish is to create a masterpiece and you are the one who inspire me, Miss Violet." Gaze that held no lies and ill intention made her a little bit interested.
Silence...No one was talking, not even the noises of the surrounding cound change the awkward and tense atmosphere between the two.
"...Very well."
(Flashback Ends)
Violet Evergarden was obediently sitting in a comfortable chair. The golden hair was spread out like a thin thread of silk while she wears a pure white ruffled dress with a glint of sparkly gold. If one would look at her now, she will be immediately mistaken as a mythological goddess or a princess from a noble kingdom.
"Is that the reason why you declined?"
Artemis asked while looking at her prosthetic hand with a symphatetic eyes. Violet lift up both of her hands and gaze it with a sad smile.
"Yes. I am not as beautiful as you think, nor did I have a decent life, so I technically believed that I do not deserve to be asked such things."
"I...I am sorry for asking." He let his head down, unable to utter a single word. He wanted to say a more appropriate word of comfort but still unable to do so.
"You are not at fault so please do not apologize."
Artemis continued to draw and paint her. This is actually the first time where he enjoyed doing his passion. He retained Violet's elegance and purity; beauty that is too perfect and unbelievably out of this world. When he looked at those mysterious blue eyes, he felt like being swallowed up by a black hole.
Few hours later, he finally managed to patch things up. He was covered in various colors of acrylic paint and paid it no mind because he was too endulged with the overwhelming result. 'This is it! Finally!' Is what he thought while gleefully laughing.
"Thank you so much, Miss Violet Evergarden! I am indebted to you!"
In the end, Violet did not accept the money that Artemis gave her, even if he kept on telling her that he only wanted to give her a credit. He was a disheartened but a silly idea came into his mind.
"Please choose any of those paintings and I'll gladly give it to you. I cannot accept a NO answer." He said while he shamelessly took her artificial arms to his and clapped it together.
Artemis' persistence is endless so Violet had no choice but to pick one. He picked the nostalgic painting that she's been eyeing all the time. The one where she felt an undescribeable feeling and maybe it was something that has a unexplainable connection with her forgotten past.
Soon after, a grand gallery opening was held in the glorious city of Leiden. Many Aristocrats, Celebrities and Ordinary Civilians flock into the event.  The security around the place is very tight. The military police wasn't alone to keep things in order. Some of the Leidenschaftlich army and navy were invited as well since the painter is the youngest son of the military prime minister.
Artemis Bluemenville, the genius painter of all time. Here, he revealed his very own first masterpiece, shocking the hell out of all people, particularly for those people who knew her and for those who are involved with her.
The woman in the largest painting is an outstanding embodiment of perfection and  gorgeousness. The white dress that she wore made her more sophisticated and demure.
Artemis also revealed another painting and that alone made a lot of people fell in love with the loveliness of the woman more and more.
A woman who is usually wearing her doll like clothes stood in the middle of the pinkish red bougainvillea trees, smiling blushingly while holding an emerald brooch in her chest. That sight alone makes it more bewitchingly beautiful. Everyone could really felt the simplicity and the happiness of the woman.
There is actually a particular man who can't keep his beating heart in check and that is no other than Gilbert Bougainvillea, an Army Colonel. He is also the lover of the woman who is being admired in the painting.
This is the magical painting of Artemis Bluemenville. It was Violet Evergarden who inspired him the most. She was also the sole reason why he is finally determined to do his very best.
Meanwhile, a golden haired woman was seen around the Fluegel Castle. She looked back, stared at the bluish sky and smiled.
"It was a nice day."

The Unsociable Woman
In a simple town across the newly established building, there lies a fair skinned woman with a thin black hair and a dull black eyes. The people around her considered her as an unfriendly, and insensitive woman. Her gaze can bring others to misjudge her easily, not even caring of what kind of girl she is inside. That alone made her more uncomfortable, to the point where she believed that being alone is much better than being with a fellow human being. Her name is Victoria Levinn, or what people called, The Unsociable Woman.
When she was sitting lazily in the couch, she heard an unfamiliar knock through the door. She simply ignored it, just like how she used to do whenever there is someone at the door. However, this person is quite persistent and that is making her irritated. It's been about 10 minutes after she finally decided to open the door.
"Pleased to make your acquaintance. I rush to anywhere my customer desire. I am from the Auto-Memories Doll service, Violet Evergarden."
Victoria's lifeless eyes sparkled for a moment but that didn't take for too long.
"I beg your pardon? You must be mistaken. I didn't hire an Auto-Memories Doll."
Violet took a certain paper in her luggage and said,
"Are you not...Lady Anna Levinn?"
"Ah, That's my mother's name... She must be the one who hired you."
"Is Lady Anna, not around?"
"She is currently at work."
"....."
"I'm sorry but I cannot let you in. You appeared to be harmless but in my eyes, you are but a suspicious woman. I suggest that you leave at once." She shot the door closed, not even letting the other person talk.
Minutes after, she heard her name in the buzzling noises outside. She peeked at the window to see what is happening and was surprised to see that the woman named Violet is still out there. Moreover, she is being surrounded by her neighbors and their topic as always is... Victoria.
"That inconsiderate girl! That attitude of hers is really terrible."
"Poor you. Don't let it troubled you. Victoria has always been that way."
"That's true. No one likes her anyway. Besides, she's better off alone." Laughters intensified.
And so on. That is how it is. She is always a villain in everyone's story. She's used to it anyway. Yes....used to it.
Victoria sat down on the floor and hugged her knees, all she did was nonchalantly listens to what others have to say about her.
Even after being told to leave, Violet just sat on the nearby bench and waited. The people suddenly swarm towards her. She decided to interact with them but with a great deal of caution.
Apparently, it appears that most of the people here disliked Victoria Levinn for some reason but it wasn't the same for Violet. She one sidedly believed that they are both kind of similar in some aspect.
"My apologies. But, I do believe that the words that you all spoke off, gave no justice to Lady Victoria."
They were all taken aback by the words that she uttered.
"Aren't you mad at her?"
"There is no reason to feel angry towards her. What she did is completely right and I do not blame her for such things since I myself, will also do the same."
The door in the house of the Levinn opened. Victoria motioned Violet to come inside.
"Very well. I shall take my leave. Do take care." She politely bow as a thanks to them. She entered the house with no haste.
Victoria glared at her neighbors and slammed the door loudly.
"Those. Damn. Bitches!" She muttered angrily. She tried to calm herself first before facing Violet.
"Mother will arrive at dawn so wait here for awhile."
"Understood."
"What do you prefer? Water, Juice, or Tea?"
"The water will do." Is what Violet said but she gave her the opposite, which is the tea. Violet was confused but did not complain at all.
"....."
"Lady Victoria, there must be a reason why you are living in isolation."
".....What?"
"And that reason alone made you this way."
Victoria just looked at her, did not respond, went straight to her room, and never returned. Hours after that, Anna Levinn was shocked to see an unfamiliar person inside the house but was relieved when she found out it was the Doll that she hired. They immediately started conversing about the contents of the letter.
"The next letter is addressed to... Victoria Levinn, my one and only daughter."
After minutes of typing, Violet gave her the letter. The mother let out a tear and hugged the letter gently.
"Do you think it will reach her?"
"Yes. It will definitely reach her." She let out a pleased smile and added, "Now, I understand why Lady Victoria gave me a tea instead of a water. Your daughter is a kind woman."
"I'm glad you thought of it that way! What do you think is the reason behind the tea?"
Violet looked at the family picture in the wall.
"For lady Victoria, the warm tea is the most suitable symbolism for tranquility whereas, it calms her soul as the scented flowers gave her a peace of mind amidst of the criticism that is being thrown to her."
"That is right! Actually, It has another meaning."
"What is it?" Violet asked in a child like curious tone, making the latter laugh.
"It is a warm way to say...
...Thank You!"
She was indeed a complicated person.

The Bougainvillea Ball - PART 2
All chattering and movement ceased when the door suddenly opened. The most awaited head of the Bougainvillea is here at last, but what stunned them the most is the god like woman beside him. No matter how one look at it, the golden haired beauty possess an impressively rare features. Also, her natural charm outshines every women inside the ball, making most of the men bewitched at the sight of her.
Silence engulfed the entire ball as they walk together. The way Gilbert guides her is incredibly gentle. It is very obvious that he held that woman so dear, just by looking how soft his stern look becomes when he glances at her.
"Gilbert, what took you so long? And...who might she be?"
Madam Bougainvillea already knew who she was but did not want to acknowledge it. She only looked at Violet with a wary look.
Upon noticing that stare, Violet bow gracefully at her and said,
"My name is Violet Evergarden. It's been my pleasure to meet you."
It was very elegant and dignified like. All of them were mesmerized by her. There is no doubt that she'll be the main star this evening.
The Madam smiled flatly at her as she introduced herself as an 'Evergarden'.
"Likewise."
She looked at her son in an almost troubled look
"My, It was very kind of you to accompany your cousin. It was indeed an admirable act. Now that you're here, I shall introduce you to the fine young maidens."
The Madam clapped her hands to motion the musicians. The music started, a cue in which the dance is about to start. Most of the people were dancing already. Gilbert on the other side, calmly arguing with her mother while Violet is being entertained by someone who approached her.
"Violet! You came! I miss you!"
A woman blissfully hugged her in the middle of the crowd.
"It's been a while. I hope you're in good health."
It was no other than Henrietta, the second daughter of the Bougainvillea. Her voice is loud enough to attract the nobles inside the ball. It doesn't even bother her even if she is currently being dreadfully glared by her mother.
"Come with me! I shall introduce you to my lovely sisters!"
Henrietta drag her away and ran towards her sisters. Her actions seems kind of bold enough for a woman of noble birth and to add it all, they are the ones who stood out the most.
Gilbert noticed the sudden disappearance of Violet and was about to go and find her but some stubborn elder woman wouldn't let him go.
"Mother, I already told you, didn't I? I love her and I don't need anyone other than her."
Just by talking with her gives him a terrible headache. Just how much will he be able to convince such mother?
"You simply cannot do this! The reputation of the Bougainvillea family is at stake!"
Although, the conversation of the two are quite heated, the tone of their voice is amazingly low.
"My decision is final."
"Listen to me, you fool!"
But Gilbert didn't listen. He simply turned his back at her and started walking away. Madam clenched her fist and tried to compose herself as she is seething in so much anger.
Meanwhile, Violet is having a ladylike conversation with the three Bougainvillea sisters. Apparently, she looks quite pleased while talking to them because her icy looks unbelievably warms up like a glowing sunshine.
"Brother... Is that kind of person?" Diane, the youngest curiously asked.
"Yes. Lord Gilbert is that kind of man."
Violet told them in an almost dreamy tone. Her reaction is very cute as it struck the eldest, named Julia. The gesture that she made surprises them all. Julia gleefully pinched the soft cheeks of the blushing Violet.
"My, you are so adorable. Now I see why brother has a gentle look kuku."
The Violet who didn't like being treated that way, surrendered her cheeks to the three of them. The sight makes one wonder if the golden haired woman is being bullied or being worshipped.
"Indeed. Oh, speaking of which, where is that foolish brother?"
"It seems that he is currently being held by mother."
"Well, that sucks..." Henrietta absentmindedly replied. The eldest tried to confront the sister for saying such words but Violet interrupted for a moment.
"Lady Henrietta isn't bad. She is but a soft-hearted friend of mine." 'Aww'. The three were quite touched by her sincere innocence.
"Violet..." A gentle voice called out to her and was surprised when someone enveloped her waist to his.
"Lord Gilbert?"
"Ah, may I intrude for a while? It appears that you're all having a good time." Smiling broadly like he had never done before.
"Absolutely!!!"
"Brother, what took you so long?"
"I've been asked by some ladies to dance with them...but I kindly declined. I am proud that my time is completely occupied by Violet." His slight like intimate tone is not something that a Bougainvillea head should possess but the sisters found it quite endearing.
After interacting with his sisters, Gilbert escorted Violet to the dance floor and had a splendid time with her, not caring about the judgeful glances that's being transmitted to them.
"I have an announcement to make." He shouted in a low and stern tone, making everything engulf in a deafening silence.
"I, Gilbert Bougainvillea, chose Violet Evergarden as my Countess Bougainvillea. If there's anyone who would dare to disapprove, then I suppose, you are all ready to face my wrath." Firm and determined, gaze that seems to burn with blazing fire.
These are some of the times where Gilbert is proud of belittling the people who are below him, as someone who possess a higher status in the pyramidal hierarchy. All in order to protect the woman he swore to love for the rest of his life. All in order to stop them from tampering what was left behind.
All in order to break the fiery curse in the Bougainvillea clan.
This is one of the marvelous event in which, another Bougainvillea heir destroyed the so called 'tradition' of their prestigious clan.
All in order to be with Violet Evergarden.

The Bougainvillea Ball - PART 1
What does it mean to be a Bougainvillea? Why are they envied and feared at some point in time? Is it because of their intelligence? Fighting attributes? Or maybe, because of their unfathomable fame and wealth?
It all started with their heroic ancestor who created a long lasting legacy that even his descendants are being forced to follow a certain tradition, a belief  that being the best and being at the top of the pyramid is what matters the most.
To be a Bougainvillea, one must become a perfect figure so that their honor will not be tainted with impurity. They consider theirselves as Gods who are above others as they tend to control each one of the lowlives as an asset, a tool that is necessary for the survival of their kin.
No matter how noble and high they are in the society, Being born as a 'Bougainvillea' is the least thing they'll ever wish for. Yes, they lived with a golden spoon in their mouth but their life wasn't that pretty as what might the other people think. The men and women in the said household is a perfect representation of a living puppet and it has continously passed down from generation to the next generation, until a certain rebellious man named Dietfried Bougainvillea courageously broke away the strings that was firmly attached to him. It was an act that tainted the reputation of the Bougainvillea's for the first time.
The very first fool who had the guts to cut his ties from that destructive family and also, the lucky one, as he achieved the freedom that his other family members do not have. The same thing will probably happen today.
Later that evening, a certain event is currently being held at the Bougainvillea ballroom. It was an important event in which they commemorate the legacy of the Bougainvillea heroes, men who fought until the very end. All of the invited guests are from a noble family, amongst those are the Scwarthzman's and the Evergarden couple.
The hall is very lively but their actions seems to have a limit since all are from a distinguished family. However, their main spotlight has yet to come. Gilbert Bougainvillea, the head of the Bougainvillea household, is still missing in action. The guests knew him as a fearless hero who brought victory to the last continental great war.
Ladies of noble birth will surely flock at him when he decided show up. After all, that man has been single for a long time because he keeps on declining every eligable maidens. There has been rumors going around the Leidenscaftlic that the Bougainvillea head was seen with a woman in the public. The content of that rumor where pretty intimate that it is impossible to discern if it's true or not. However, some of the ladies won't simply give up that easily until they saw it in their own eyes. This event is a good opportunity for them to finally gain the favor of the mighty lord.
A car had just arrived in front of the Bougainvillea mansion. Firstly, a man who is wearing a finely black tailored tux went outside to guide a woman who is wearing an aquamarine ruffled gown that perfectly fits her slender body. It was no other than Gilbert and Violet.
Gilbert guided her hand to his and slowly escorted her inside the mansion but Violet suddenly halted, Gilbert looked at her with worried eyes.
"Is there something wrong?"
"Am I allowed to be here? It felt like a place I...shouldn't go in." Her expression shows great unease as her eyes became a bit teary. "Am I also allowed to be by your side?" Saying such words while clutching the both sides of her gown.
"Violet."
He gave her a soft smile as he called her name twice.
"You are the only woman who I allowed to stand by my side. No one else will be able to come in between. Violet, I love you and you are the only one I need." Gilbert hugged her delicate figure as their hearts resonated as one. He continued to convey what is inside his heart.
"Can you hear it? This heart of mine only beats for you. As I said earlier, Violet Evergarden is my only favorite woman."
Violet blushed furiously at what he declared and this sight of hers made his heart tingle in joy. He gently lifter her chin and said,
"Have you forgotten already or should I remind you once again." But before she could a utter a word, a soft and warm lips descend to hers. Violet's hammering heart has become uncontrollable once again. Gilbert pulled away after giving her a kiss, chuckling heartily at the sight of her.
"Do you remember our promise of love?"
"Yes." Unable to look away from the glowing emerald orb of Gilbert.
"Let me hear it again." He played with the necklace that she is wearing.  He smiled as he brought himself to the ring and kissed it.
"I am Gilbert Bougainvillea's BRIDE."
That's right. Early in the afternoon, Gilbert kneeled in front of her and proposed his undying love for Violet Evergarden. He and his silly antics managed to convinced the whole CH Postal Company to participate in his grand proposal. It was indeed a memorable event to the point where almost everyone of them shed unstoppable tears.
"And I am Violet Evergarden's GROOM."
He connected his forehead to hers and said,
"I am only yours and you are only mine, Violet, my future Bougainvillea."
No one will be able to tear them apart because their hearts and fate have always been tied to each other's.

The Former Master
"Hey, You! Why are you so slow? Follow me quickly."
"....."
"Damn. How the hell did I end up being your chaperone?"
"You don't have to, Colonel Dietfried. I am completely fine on my own."
"And risk of being hated by Gil? Not a chance."
It was a rather forceful excuse but the truth is, he is doing it for her sake.
After he witnessed the fragile human side of Violet, his chest suddenly felt heavy as if it has been shot by a bullet many times. Is this shame? Regret? Or was it hatred...toward himself?
In other words, he was simply confused as to why he wound up feeling sorry.
Dietfried went to the CH Postal Company to fetch the beast like woman. Her destination is bound to the Gardarik Empire, but the femme fatale is currently unavailable due to the sudden explosion. Fortunately, there are no sign of casualties.
Dietfried was happy when his younger brother contacted him early in the morning. He didn't mind being woken up by him but after being told as to why he called, irritation slowly ate his entire being.
"Why do I have to fetch that tool? Do I have to remind you that she's a female beast?"
"Brother, please do accompany her until you've reached the Gardarik Empire. I wanted to be the one to do it but unfortunately, we have to investigate whether the explosion is intentional or not. I leave Violet's safety to you. This is a request from your younger brother."
"Gil, wh--??!!" And he ended the call. Shock is simply an understatement.
Dietfried let out a small laugh when he remembered the rebellious action of Gilbert. That upright man has finally grown up splendidly. To think that Gilbert would actually entrusted her to him, what an unpredictable man. It was indeed a laughable occurrence.
The two sat in the car side by side in a deafening silence . It was until they've reached the shore and went to his private ship. The sailors who spotted the two of them became vigilant as if they saw something odd. Dietfried just snorted at the judging looks they've been receiving.
"I failed to understand the reason why I have to be escorted all the way to the Gardarik Empire. I've been there before and I did not experience any disturbances."
"Tell that to my brother."
It was a normal busy day for all of the working individuals yet there is one man who is merely enjoying the time of his life as a boss. It was Claudia Hodgins, the President of the CH Postal Company.
"President Hodgins! Wake up this instant!" However, he did not wake up. It appears that he is having a good dream and Lux Sibyl is not impressed at all, so she ended up hitting his table with the pile of documents she is holding.
"AN EXPLOSION!" A shout that came out from a retarded president.
"Indeed an explosion of reports so I suggest to please do your job more appropriately."
"Little Lux, aren't ya too hard on me? Have mercy~" Hodgins pretended to cry. It was a pointless pretension as Lux was already accustomed to such behavior.
"That won't do. Speaking of which, I wonder if Violet is being treated well." Lux removed her eyes glasses and wipes the blurred area with a cloth.
"Ah, I am worried too. I did tell her to take a day off for awhile but little Violet insisted that her customer has been waiting for her to come." Hodgins sighs with a troubled look. 'Please be safe, little Violet...'
Violet stood up at the deck of the ship, feeling the cold breeze of the winter morning. Her mind wandered to the distant past where she rode the same ship as this. It was the exact replica of the one where she assassinated Dietfried's comrades. Her eyes darted all over the place as if she could see the remnants of what she did in the past. She could also almost hear the shout and pleas of the men she had killed, unable to supress the feeling of remorse that is budding within her.
"Colonel, do I have any right to be in your ship? As far as I remember, you loathe my entire existence."
Dietfried was taken aback by that sudden question. That is true. He hated her to the point where just hearing her voice makes him terribly sick. Even so, he simply do not despise her. Because...
He did not respond as he stared in the sea of void, hiding the very reason as to why he is doing this. But Violet did not stop talking.
"I am...indebted to Lord Dietfried. You took me away from the inhabited island and made me your tool. Even if I was a vicious monster, you let me stay with you just for awhile, until you gave me away to Lord Gilbert."
"Since when did you become so talkative? Didn't I tell you that a terrifying tool like you needs to be put in good use?"
"Yes."
"Then stop talking to me! That's an order!"
Even being told so, Violet still refused to listen and continue what she is trying to convey. Dietfried unbelievably looked at her as if she had grown more torns than before.
"Colonel, you are the first master that I have ever served. I am thankful for everything you've done for me, but I do not take orders from anyone anymore. I hope the day will come where you and I...will be able to get along well." She let out a slight smile while staring at the flowing blue ocean.
"Like that would happen! I will never get along with a killer monster like you!"
Dietfried turn away, took three steps ahead and stopped walking.
"You're actually thanking me for punching and kicking you? You are crazy..." However, that is not the case as Dietfried knew exactly the reason why Violet is thanking him.
It was already noon when they've arrived at the borders of the Gardarik Empire.
"Well then, I'll be going now. Thank you for the ride." Violet expressed her gratitude to him by bowing deeply. "Have a safe trip, Lord Dietfried."
"....."
Dietfried clenches his fist when Violet started walking away. There is something that he wanted to say to her but cannot do so. But here he is, swallowing his pride by calling out her name for the first time.
"VIOLET!"
'Violet', a name that was given to her by his younger brother. Not a tool, but a person who is worthy of that name.
He went to where she is and gently pat her head. Just like what he did when he gave her away to Gilbert. The very first gentle gesture that Dietfried gave to the lonely little beast.
But that act is quiet different from that time because Dietfried is smiling genuinely at her right now. Yes. The grumpy and twisted Bougainvillea gave her a rare smile.
'....Sister in Law.' -- What he is supposed to say, but ended up not saying it.

The Aristocrat Woman
One. Two. Three. Swaaay. One. Two Three-- These are the basic steps that one needs to accomplish today. Perfection is a must because it is a duty that a high class noble woman must posses.
"This is hopeless. I can't even dance properly! Huk."
A woman with a glossy navy black hair and a teary dark green eyes sat grumpily on the floor. Such trait is forbidden and not befitting of a lady. It was no other than Henrietta Bougainvillea, the second sister of Gilbert Bougainvillea.
"My lady, do not be discouraged. You are doing quiet alright."
A young woman with an unbelievable godly features spoke in a soft yet elegant manner. It was the famed Auto-Memories Doll named Violet Evergarden.
"That is easy for you to say. You are the perfect embodiment of class, both appearance and character. I envy you."
A small tear escaped from her right eye. Violet became troubled as she immediately sat in front of her and held her hand.
The two are at the dancing hall of the Evergarden's Mansion. At first, they were all shocked to see an unexpected visitor at such an early hour. To add it up, she asked for Violet and after being thrilled by her beauty, Henrietta shamelessly declared,
"Please teach me how to dance like a lady!"
And now here they are. An hour has already passed and the dancing skills of Henrietta still needs a little polish.
"There is nothing to be envied. Lady Henrietta's dancing skill is making progress."
"That's a lie."
"I am unable to lie. Just a little more and you will definitely achieve your goal. Should we try once again? Or would you like to take a rest for a while?" Violet inquired and sincerely smiled at her.
Henrietta was unable to respond as she was once again dumbfounded by the lovely smile of Violet. The beating of her heart became irregular. 'What kind of sorcery is this?' She wondered.
"Is everything alright?"
"Y- Yes! Ah, I would like to talk to you for a while."
".....Very well." Violet stood up and extend her hand at the sitting Henrietta. "Shall we?"
"I...Of course." She accepted it with a glint of embarrassment.
Violet's wording is absolutely of a princess and her gestures is like a reminiscent of some noble knight in a fairy tale story.
They sat in a comfy floral couch together. Violet is the first one to break the silence.
"Lady Henrietta, what is it that you would like to talk about?"
"I want to know why you are in love with my brother. I have read a letter about you. It was a letter that brother gave to older sister. Do you perhaps...hold a grudge against him? I mean. After all of what he did to you and..." She looked at her prosthetic arms and looked away as she was hurt for seeing her like this. "Your arms are no longer...there." Henrietta can no longer hide the pain. The tears overflows endlessly as if to sympatize with her.
Violet was speechless for a second. She held her hand once again and told her to look at her.
"I love the major. And, I will never hate him because he is my precious loved one. A man who gave his 'everything' to a 'nothing' like me. I am glad to be by his side. The arms that I've lost is gone and nevermore return..." She touched the emerald brooch in her chest and gazed lovingly at it. "But, I am very happy that he is alive & well and just being loved by him is more than enough for me."
Her figure is like a maiden in love. Henrietta realized that whenever they talked about her brother, Violet's cold demeanor will naturally change into a warm heartfelt sunshine. A figure that is beautiful and terrifying at the same time. Her etherial loveliness is both a blessing and a curse to those people who got bewitched by her and...She was one of them.
Henrietta is impressed at the sight before her and also, convinced why her foolish older brother is in love with this God like creature.
"I would like to be your friend!"
"Eh?"
"I do not have a friend. Money and influence is always the main cause why I do not have one. But, you are different! I would like to be your friend!" Henrietta bluntly told the stunned Violet. Her appearance is like a mixture of Dietfried and Gilbert but the way her eyes shone excitedly is like a reminiscent of Gilbert's.
Violet let out a chuckle and sincerely responded with a "Yes."
Meanwhile at the Bougainvillea household, Gilbert is arguing with his stubborn mother.
"I cannot consent to any of these. I have a lover and I intend marry her SOON."
"Gilbert, my son! These are the fine young ladies that is befitting to be a Bougainvillea. We cannot allow that commoner to dishonor this household. Besides, your father w--."
Gilbert stood up from the couch he is sitting. He courageously looked at her eye to eye.
"I am the head of the Bougainvillea household and I will marry who I want to marry. Forgive me mother but I will protect the one I love. I've already sacrificed a lot for the sake of this family, and just so you know, I am only able to breathe when I am with her. I will not let you or any of our relatives take her away from me." He said it in a very stern tone and left the room once and for all.
Gilbert's mother was unable to counter argue as she was still unbelievably stunned at the foolishness of her son.
When Gilbert got out of the room, he was surprised to see Julia and Diane, his younger sisters, as well as Laurus, Julia's Betrothed. He looked at his left and right.
"Where is Henrietta?" It was indeed odd for him not to see her when he come home once in awhile. Although, Gilbert cherish his sisters dearly, he still did not like going here because it was suffocating him.
"Sister went to the Evergarden to meet a woman named Violet."
"She did what?!" He was unable to keep his composure because of what he heard. He was about to ran outside when Julia grabbed his hand.
"Brother, please bring your lover to the ball. We will not harm your precious jewel. I, Julia will definitely protect Violet."
"Yes. Diane will also protect Violet. After all, she is the one who made brother this soft."
"You heard it all?" His voice has a glint of shyness but his eyes is clouded in determination.
"Yes. I am sure Henrietta will also feel the same way. Do not be afraid. We will be Violet's ally."
"Thank you." He hugged his sisters and bid farewell. Laurus also went out with him, telling Gilbert that he'll drop him off in the Evergarden mansion.
"Laurus, I have a car." He stated the obvious.
"What's with that chilly attitude. Can't I be good to my future brother in law? Kidding aside, I am actually indebted to you for allowing me to marry your sister."
He started the engine of the car and told him to come along.
"A political marriage. I am glad that the two of you end up falling in love. Julia most likely resented me before." Gilbert let out a heavy sigh and just hop on the car as if already tired of every shit.
"Be at ease, Gilbert. Your flower is well loved and protected."
In a certain room of the Evergarden mansion, there lies two woman who seemed to be enjoying their time. The dance became much more smoother than the previous one. The efforts were paid off nicely. Also, Henrietta was very sorry for stepping at Violet's foot many times.
"Lady Henrietta, if I may ask, why did you requested me to teach you how to dance?"
"There's this ball that the Bougainvillea oldies organized. I already am tired of being ridiculed by the people in that household. Just how dare they treat me like that! I am aware that I got so many flaws unlike my two other sisters but that is too much! I am a human too!" She, once again let out a cry while sitting in the carpented floor. She was but a crybaby.
It appears that Henrietta was really having a hard time and went all the way here just seek the solace that she couldn't have in the Bougainvillea household.
Violet kneeled in front of her, hug her and tried to soothe her while ushering words that will forever remain in the heart and mind of the aristocrat woman.
"I am Lady Henrietta's friend and will forever be, your solace."
So, hush now. You don't have to cry for not being loved anymore.
