Lip Products TDF!! (to die for)

Sooo hello, my name is Char and I’m an absoluuute make-up fanatic from GB!! I was planning to make a little introductory blog post but I thought that, firstly, I’d crack out some actual beauty-related content so you can catch an idea of what this blog will be allll about. So, here are some lip product essentials (or LPEs) that I absolutely cannot live without and that I think anybody else would adore too!
First of all, we have our good old-fashioned favourite... VASELINE! Now I know that this seems sooo basic and like, duh, right?! But you would not believe how many dry and chapped lips I’ve seen over this winter season. Taking good care of your lips and protecting them from the elements is basically biblical; regardless of whether you’re interested in makeup or not (because if you let them become too dry, they can become totally painful and bloody and just plain irritating). I like to use vaseline to give my lips some TLC and this limited edition sugar-coated vaseline just smells and feels so gorgeous. The reason I adore vaseline is that I find is super easy to apply and really blendable with other lip products such as lipsticks and lip crayons. But, if vaseline isn’t your jam, there are so many other good alternatives to have your lips feeling hydrated (carmex and nivea lip butters being just a few).
My go-to products when it comes to lipstick would have to be ‘Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour’ by CHANEL in the shade ‘Suzanne’ or MAC’s Matte ‘Velvet Teddy’. I personally find Suzanne to be suchhh a beaut shade BUT if plummy, nude-y shades aren’t for you then I would deffo recommend trying this lipstick in one of the other shades that they have to offer because the formula is absolutely TDF!! It’s smooth, creamy, makes your lips look instantly bigger and glides on easier than chips on cheese! It’s not the type of lipstick to stain your teeth or flake away; in essence, it’s just super wearable! Now, at £22.00 it is a little steep in price but I have a great dupe for this product... check out the £4.99 alternative by the brand SEVENTEEN (it’s the ‘Stay Pout Lipstick’ in the shade ‘Fond Farewell’). I also looove MAC’s Velvet Teddy with equal fervour and will continue to wear it despite my friends mocking me and calling me a ‘typical instagram basic bitch’. The thing that I love about these lipsticks is the fact that they’re so simple to work with and that a little smudge or error can be wiped away in a matter of seconds because of how forgiving their formulas are. (A side note: if you are more of a ‘red lip’ kinda person, I’d again recommend the SEVENTEEN Stay Pout Lipstick but in the shade ‘Date Night’...it’s such a looovely shade of red and would deffo look nice with any skin tone!)
When it comes to matte liquid lipsticks, I’m rather less experienced. I would highly recommend Sleek’s range of matte liquid lipsticks though; I’ve experimented with a variety of shades and they’ve (for me) all lasted through pizza and snogging with tongues...and for a liquid lipstick to withstand all that jazz; I’d say that’s pretty damn impressive! The Sleek ‘Matte Me’ Liquid Lipstick in the shade ‘Birthday Suit’ is a winner in my eyes... but be cautionary, as some of their darker shades in this range are far less easy to apply and look drastically different on the lips in comparison to how they appear inside the tube. Some other good options in regards to liquid lipsticks would be any from the brand ‘ColourPop’; if you are a UK resident like me though, be cautious because the int. shipping/ customs fees are heart-wrenchingly expensive at times!! Despite these huge additional fees, the products from ColourPop are relatively inexpensive and so, in reality: shipping fees + product prices = the same amount of £ you would spend on MAC.
I think that’s about all for now, beautiful people. I could write many, many, many more paragraphs about all my fave lip products because there are a LOT of them; BUT I am desperate for a wee and a cheeky G&T. If you enjoyed reading this post then feel free to give me a like/follow - next time’s post will involve me being a little guinea pig and testing out some false eyelashes!!
Love and Light,
Char :) xox
