something i noticed about Comfrey is that she has ideas of people in her mind and when they don't match perfectly they get left behind or scorned. monty became a writer? he was never really a adventurer he just used her to write books. Daisuke didn't want to be left at home while Comfrey went off? He didn't do what she wanted so they divorced. Marya gave up her position of captain to this young upstart? Ludmilla never mattered. Her son wasn't sky eyed? She left him behind and barely visited. Putting pressure on Olethra to be a miniature version of Comfrey, molding her to be the person Comfrey wants her to be.

Having her larger than life personality and being sharp as a tack blinded those around her to dismiss her faults. Stepping away from her allowed them to see a larger picture of who she really is. Ambition over everything else.
