Project Face Mask continues! We are thanking our Chatham County veterinarians this week by delivering masks made by our volunteers. On Friday, we did socially distant dropoffs at our Pittsboro and North Chatham clinics. Thank you @hopecrossinganimal, Dogwood Veterinary Hospital, @coleparkvet, @hill_creek_veterinary_hospital, Pittsboro Animal Hospital, and Jordan Lake Animal Hospital. These wonderful veterinarians provide regular and emergency care and spay/neuter surgery to our foster animals or support our mission in other ways. Ziva is sweet, friendly, loves head rubs and skritches but most certainly is not cuddly. She will happily jump in your lap, but just long enough for a few treats. She doesn't mind being picked up for a short walk from room to room. On colder nights, Ziva actually climbs under the bedcovers and snuggles with foster mom for a little while before moving out to the foot of the bed.  Her favorite pastime is sitting on her perch by the window watching the bird feeder and squirrels and "helping" foster mom knit. Ziva was barely out of kittenhood when she was dumped at the shelter with her one day old kittens. She came into foster care, weaned her kittens, was spayed and microchipped. Considering her early life was one of being a brave survivor of unfortunate circumstance, she has come a long way to being a friendly, non-skittish, young adult cat. She gets along well with her foster family's other cats (after the necessary intro period). IDEALLY, her adopter will appreciate her personality and allow her to be just plain friendly at first and let her bond at her own pace. Jethro is a lovable, intelligent, wiggly little guy. Besides snuggling with his foster parents, his favorite past time is playing with his sister, Pearl. Running and sniffing are also high on his list of fun things. Jethro loves going on walks (oh, all those smells!) and playing tug-of-war with anyone willing to grab the other end. He'll put a smile on your face every time! His wish list includes a fenced-in yard (physical, not electronic) and a playmate of similar size to help him run off all his energy! Come meet me, Comet, at PetSmart in Apex from February 4th through 9th. Be ready to play and laugh out loud, because I'm tons of fun! My foster mum says she'll try to update this soon.  In the meantime, let me tell you that my siblings (Rocket and Dash) and I are a laugh riot.  We're just four months old, so we're more interested in playing than anything else.  We like to be petted and brushed, but only after we've played, played, and played.  We can be kind of squirmy when you first hold us, but we'll settle down once we get to know you.  And, of course, we'll chill out as we get a little older. He s currently learning all of the puppy basics which includes basic commands like sit stay and come. For housetraining he knows how to use puppy pads and is moving on now to learning how to ring a bell to let his people know when he wants to go outside. Alvin is crate trained and will whine if he has potty needs during his sleep time. Because he is so young he will need a new home where his people are only gone for short spurts at a time.   Alvin is a playful puppy who enjoys being loved on just as much as being played with. Alvin will benefit greatly with continued puppy classes and socialization with other dogs.
