never stops being existentially horrifying to realize that someone you're talking to thinks that there is any kind of biological basis for "race" like the amount of people who are like 'racism is bad, of course race is a real scientific thing it's just bad to treat people differently because of it' and it's like no there is no biological or scientific basis for race it's purely a social concept. a dark skinned black person and a very pale white person can share more dna than two black people or two white people like it's all made up you can't tell someone's genetic or biological makeup just by looking at them. it's all socially constructed and there are massive consequences for this construction but anyone who tries to say that there is any kind of scientific basis for race whether they're knowingly purposely racist or trying to be "progressive" is wrong and realizing that someone you're talking to in a completely benign situation dead seriously thinks that such a thing as a "white race" actually scientifically exists is so terrifying

what if your doppelganger loved being you more than you ever loved being yourself. they're better at being you and everyone loves them and it feels almost selfish to want your life back. i want clone horror but the horror is that the thing trying to replace you is also the person you always wanted to be.

I feel like in the rush of “throw out etiquette who cares what fork you use or who gets introduced first” we actually lost a lot of social scripts that the younger generations are floundering without.

Love when Spock refuses to admit that he lies. Kirk will be blatantly like "Spock, I have seen you lie." and Spock is just like "I have no such ability, captain." Liar of all time.

Btw I have to speak my truth. Deanna Troi is not useless on the bridge. She is underutilized in the plot points yes and I don't think we ever got to see exercise her full powers. But she is NOT useless on the bridge. People hate her on saying things that are "obvious" (eg. she says she feels that the visibly agitated person is agitated) but that is literally no different than the person at a console that says "we have been hit!" or "the shields are holding". Like these are obvious too bc yes we have been hit that's probably why we're all over the floor. But the person is saying that bc the sensors they're looking at recorded a hit and their job is to verbally read these to the captain. It being "obvious" isn't the point it's not supposed to be a groundbreaking observation they're making a report of what their station received.
And Deanna is basically just another sensor and she's reporting what she got!! And yes her saying a visibly angry person is angry actually is Useful because if they weren't feeling the emotion they're projecting (lying) that would be worthwhile. So her making the report is useful information for Picardddd

i think one of these days mr beast is going to snap and go missing for a year. and they’re going to find him butt ass naked on the highway at 3:56 pm reciting video scripts to himself and then never be seen again and people will debate if it was real or not for decades

No tech CEO or NYT bestselling novelist will ever match the creativity of a humble French postman who decided on a whim to spend thirty-three years building a surreal, majestic palace with the bricks and mortar of his dreams.

honestly i never thought the phrase “i want that twink obliterated” was like a sexual thing. like when i read the phrase i imagine “a meteor like the one that killed the dinosaurs is summoned from the heavens and hits the twink in question” type situation

I hate how often some (typically abled) people will go “well, if you can’t [get a specific support], then what?” when it comes to disabilities. As if it’s a “gotcha” moment. And then act like you’re exaggerating when you answer that question honestly.
Disabled people often die from a lack of support. A lot of disability aids are not a luxury, but a basic need in order to live.
“Well what happens if—” people die. People hurt themselves. People hurt others. Disabled people don’t magically become abled if our needs aren’t met.
If a bedbound quadriplegic is caught in a housefire, and there’s nobody there to save them, they’ll probably die. They won’t magically become able-bodied out of sheer will.
If a nonspeaking/nonverbal autistic is denied access to alternative methods of communication, they’ll suffer in silence. They won’t spontaneously become capable of speech.
Disabled people are disabled all the time. Our disabilities don’t go away just because they’re inconvenient, or if we’re in danger.
