It’s the first Monday of the first month of a brand new year. Whoa. What a fabulous day to be alive, amirite?! Just think—there are so many awesome new and unknown adventures ahead for you! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it… and the importance of establishing an online presence is HUGE! That being said, I get it. We’re attracted by shiny objects, and there are plenty of shiny objects to take our focus away. Which app to use for what audience, how many times a day to post and where, and what hashtags to use are just a few things that I’ve noticed are the big questions for all things digital marketing. Hear me out… Just because it’s a new year doesn’t mean you have to incorporate *all* the new things. Making sure you’re online PERIOD and engaging with your audience on the platforms you’re comfortable with is the best way to start. Want to see how Twitter compares to your Facebook posts? There’s tricks to cross post your content to multiple platforms. Got a blog and hate having to copy and paste the link to make sure followers on three different platforms know about your new post? With the new year just around the corner, I’m coming at you guys with a hot take… #cancelcontactforms2022 That’s it. That’s the whole post. Why? There are BETTER ways to put your customers in direct contact with your business. Contact forms are crazy susceptible to spam even when you go through the steps to make it hack-proof. Clearly defined calls to action in the form of visually appealing graphics & buttons coupled with booking & messaging tools offer a better way to connect to your website visitors hands down. 🙌 Don’t believe me? My spam folder caught 300 junk form entries in the last 30 days alone. I’ve done all the extra stuff to make it “secure” but they still get around it. A couple of friends needed to raise money for their friend’s cancer treatment, so they threw an ugly sweater party. And then it caught on. Big time. I AM SO OBSESSED! You may have noticed that I finally have my 💩 in a group with regular social posts... I've still got a few trade secrets up my sleeve, but a huge factor has been as simple as using... ⏫ Facebook Publishing Tools / Business Suite for scheduling posts and stories to Instagram and Facebook 🔀 IFTTT (If This, Then That) for automatic crossposting those posts to the rest of my social channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr, and more). I’m no longer scraping around for content, I don't have to open twelve different apps just to copy and paste the same thing, nor am I having to save three different versions of the same content because one platform doesn't like the file data connected to another. (I'm totally looking at you ♾ Meta vs. ⏰ TikTok!) The whole concept of social media aggregation has completely changed the way I run my business, but I still have to brainstorm out a flow chart and triple check for infinite content loops. Is #selfcaresunday still a thing? 🙃 If it is, what does your routine look like? Lately, mine has been a whole lot of sleep. During the week, I am going a mile a minute from sun-up to sun-down… 😮‍💨 Between the day job, volunteering with American Space Museum & Space Walk of Fame, and keeping up on logos and website maintenance, by Sunday, I am EXHAUSTED! Sometimes I feel guilty that I’m not taking advantage of my Sundays for more productive things like cleaning the house, some much needed gardening, or tackling the mountain of laundry. But I’m slowly starting to realize that sleeping is very much part of my self-care regimen. After being pulled in so many directions during the week, sometimes the best thing I can do is allow my body to rest over the weekend. Can anyone else relate to this? So, there’s this project I’ve been working on for… well… a while. A very long while, now that I think about it. 🤔 You too? Then I know you feel where I’m coming from today! I’ve had really good intentions of finishing this thing, like, months ago. But it’s still there. Always on my to-do list, but never getting done. Why? Because I don’t think it’s exactly right just yet. It could be better. I could still make a few adjustments here and there. It’s “close” to being ready, but not there yet. Anytime I have a free moment, particularly when I should be doing something else, I find myself coming back to it and changing it just slightly or adding new things I hadn’t thought of before. Because it’s important to me and I want it to be perfect. 👌 Thing is, though, I’ve come to realize that this project isn’t doing anyone any good while it’s sitting in a file in my Google Drive. More often than not, I just stare at it and never even get anywhere with it. Maybe it’s time to just release it into the world. Maybe having this project done and good is more than enough. Because it might not be perfect, but that doesn’t mean it’s not wonderful. Stay tuned! Have you ever launched something before you felt like it was ‘perfect?’ How did it go?

Friendly PSA: It’s time to send out your Christmas Cards! 🎄 Did you almost forget? It sneaks up on me too! 📬 Use your lunch break to buy stamps, order or print that one family picture where (almost) everyone is smiling at the camera, and dig some envelopes out of the bottom drawer while you still have time. I know some people will say Christmas Cards are so 2000-and-late. I mean, why send a photo in the mail when we can see our high school friend’s cute new dog on social media every day? But if sending snail-mail cards is your jam, I say ignore the Scrooges, and do it anyway! Getting regular mail during the holidays is nostalgia at its best, and something we all can look forward to. 💌 My picture perfect aunt & uncle send a family photo card almost every year and they will forever outdo me! I’m more of a digital card kind of gal, but I’ve also seen the “don’t buy me presents, send me a recipe card” thing going around and I’m kind of leaning towards that. 🤔 Do you send Christmas Cards? May all your days be palm trees 🌴 and sunshine. 🏖️ Also, may whoever claims that every day is a good day find a giant hole in their hammock. (Both of these sayings are ancient & wise proverbs. Not kidding! Look it up. 😜) To me, “no bad days” seems like something you’d only hear vacationers at an all-inclusive resort call out to each other from their poolside rooms. “Hey Joe, no bad days!” “Totally, Sara, No bad days over here!” (Sips pomegranate mimosa and books the 10 a.m. massage.) But maybe no bad days is also a way for us to reframe how we think about our ordinary, non-vacation days, too. You know, those days when it’s a 🎶 traffic jam when you’re already late 🎶. Just like Alanis said would happen. Because you can’t control the train crawling by like a snail when you’re three cars back and still haven’t had any coffee, but you *can* control how you react to whatever comes your way. You are the only one who really gets to decide what your day will be like, toes in the sand or not. And if you think about it, that’s actually pretty cool stuff.
