If there was anywhere that one would have thought you could go, without having to worry about a fellow royal servant showing up in the middle of things, it was the East End of London. Of course, the secretarial officers were there on occasion, to handle business or deal with criminal activity that went beyond what Her Majesty was willing to ignore, but unless given specific orders to be in that part of the city, there was little reason for their presence.

Case in point, Grey had very much been under the impression that he was the only semblance of royal authority in the area today. So, getting into a minor altercation — that was certainly never meant to get nearly as messy as it had — with some small-time, ignorant, infuriating drug-dealer… Well, it shouldn’t have ever been important, or problematic, or even seen by anyone other than maybe a street-rat or two. Everything should have, in the matter of an hour, been perfectly fine.

     “Perhaps if you knew when to shut your bloody trap,                      This little chat would not have gone so horridly.”

The words dripped from his tongue like poison, gloved fingers curled around the handle of his rapier - blade to the ignorant little gnat’s throat. The poor bastard was already bleeding from a wound in his torso, and while leaving him to bleed out was surely an option, there wasn’t any fun - nor any point - in that.

Besides, it wasn’t like Grey had to worry about staining those pristine white clothes today; he wasn’t foolish enough to show up here, ‘off the clock’, in uniform. With little to currently worry about, time to spare, and irritation that begged to be channeled into something, he likely would have taken a few extra moments, dragging it out and playing with an already broken toy…

                             …If it hadn’t been for a familiar face’s arrival.
