A Short Film Script
Background:
It's 70 years in the future where technology has advanced. A girl, named Kyla, gets a household robot from her girlfriend Kamelia. The robot is called Zoomy. Zoomy is programmed to actively assist in household chores. When Kyla sets up Zoomy she realizes it's not as helpful as she thought.
Characters in Use:
Kyla-The main protagonist
Zoomy-A friendly yet unhelpful robot
Delivery Man-Background character
Kamelia- Kyla’s girlfriend
Dialogue:
Starts with a notice that the package has arrived on the date that is 70 years in the future. The scene cuts to Kyla opening the box with the sounds of robotic noises.
“Hello, human! I’m Zoomy, you're personal household assistant. What shall I refer to you as?”
“Kyla Wooberger”
“Is Kyla Wooberger correct?”
“Uhh, no, just call me Kyla”
“Zoomy is now calling Kamelia Stone”
“No no! Zoomy end call!”
“Zoomy can only perform one call at a time”
“Zoomy no no stop! Zommy, power down!”
“Zoomy can not power down while performing a call”
“End call with Kamelia Stone Zoomy.”
“Is Kyla Wooberger sure she wants Zoomy to end the call with Kamelia Stone?”
“Yes”
“Call canceled. What task will Kyla Wooberger have Zoomy perform next?”
Kyla signs and the scene cuts.
Kyla is working in her office. She can be heard speaking over the phone talking to somebody probably from work. ”Hang on let me write that down” Kyla says and she searches her desk for a pen but can't find anything to write with.
“Uhhh Zoomy” Kyla calls.
“What task does Kyla Wooberger want Zoomy to perform?”
“Where did all my pens go?” Kyla seems very confused here.
“Zoomy took the liberty to declutter your office space.”
“You what?! Zoomy, I need you to grab me a black pen.” Kyla asks frantically.
Kyla then tells the person over the phone to “Hold on one second”
Zoomy brings back a coffee.
“No Zoomy! I said a pen”
Zoomy brings back a roll of paper towels.
“A pen Zoomy. I need something to write with” Kyla uses exaggerated hand motions.
The scene cuts where Kyla's desk is cluttered with unnecessary items.
“Zoomy, I need you to tell me where you put all of my pens”
“Who’s pens?
“My pens, Zoomy. Kyla's pens.”
“Zoomy does not recognize Kyla as an entity.”
“Where did you put Kyla Woobergers pens?”
“Zoomy stored them away for safekeeping”
“Show me Zoomy”
Kyla opens the oven where all of her office supplies are located. She looks frustrated. The scene cuts.
Kyla is in her office and she hears a knock on the door. Zoomy starts to wander over to the door. When Kyla sees Zoomy moving she jumps up to stop Zoomy.
“Zoomy.! No Zoomy stop!” She calls out but Zoomy keeps going to the door.
Zoomy opens the door and it's a guy delivering a package.
“I have a package for Kyla”
“I’m sorry to inform you, but Kyla is no longer with us. Goodbye”
Kyla stops Zoomy from closing the door.
“No Kyla is alive and well.”
The delivery man looks confused but hands Kyla the package. Kyla signs off on it and sets it inside.
“Zoomy. Do. Not. Touch. The. Package.”
Zoomy immediately touches the package and crushes it.
“Task completed!”
This time, Kyla manually powers off Zoomy. The scene cuts.
Kyla is sitting inside her office and she gets a call from her girlfriend.
“Kameila, honey, hi!”
“How’s Zoomy?” She asks.
“Really, really really, good.”
“Awesome! I want you to try out this new bot that I found that apparently cooks all your food! You’re gonna love it!” She says with excitement.
“Mhmmm” Kyla agrees uneasily.
The scene ends showing Zoomy unactivated next to a couple of other powered off bots.
