It’s been almost four months Four months away from home Home is the land Where people sit by the Lahn Whispering secrets to one another Smiling faces reflected in her waters Words absorbed by her silence The students know her And know they won’t outlive her So they live in the moment In hopes of emulating her eternity

So, there's a bus strike in Marburg at the moment. My normal 20 min commute turned into a 1 hour 45 min commute, but that's alright. Marburg provides enough beauty to keep me distracted That little guy was in front of the Mensa. Whoever put him together, thank you ❤

Addicted to Stroopwafels
They are so delicious. I can’t stop buying them at Tegut because they’re unbelievably cheap. How am I supposed to lose weight if I keep snacking on them? Someone stop me.

On Monday, we took a trip to a huge apple orchard. There were so many species to try and the journey took almost two hours. I was able to munch on one of the crunchiest, sweetest apples of my life. We also learned a lot of new vocabulary.

Yesterday we took a trip to the Gießen Hanf-Labyrinth! It was a massive industrial cannabis maze that educated us throughout the walk. We learned about economic growth, extinct species, environmental friendliness, and much more. There was also a reggae party at the center of the hemp field that was quite entertaining. We celebrated our adventure by eating at a delicious Greek eatery here in Marburg. What an experience!

What this blog is about
Hi, my name is Marilyn and I’m a 20 year old college student living in Marburg an der Lahn, Germany. I sing a lot, make people laugh, and love chicken wings. (Chicken VINGS auf Deutsch) Chemikalien is about me, my exchange here at Philipps-Universität Marburg, and my strange encounters with people. Also, my sub par German. I’ll get there eventually.

Public Pools
German public pools are quite a big deal to me. Bracelets that can track how long I’ve been in the pool, lock my locker, and yell at me when I’ve overstayed my visit make me feel as if I’ve been living in the 1970′s and just teleported to the present. Even the hair blow dryers that hang on the wall and can be slid up or down depending on your height give me the eebie jeebies. Where have I been this whole time? A hole? (Yes.)
Anyway, the best part of today was the fact that I knew that I wanted to go into the pool, but I had no idea how to ask the ladies at the front desk. There were so many options on what you could do and I was quite flustered. The ladies had quite a laugh with me, but I was understood and given my little bracelet. So shoutout to the ladies at Aquamar for getting me in!
