Something I really appreciated, and that I only really saw a lot of in asras route, was the choices in paid scenes. It comes up elsewhere but I noticed it mostly in the nopal chapters. You could choose between a spicy and sweet romance option and neither of them felt any less romantic than the other. They both felt fully fleshed out and enjoyable and romantic. Often times its just heavy makeout scenes or No Contact At All. But I'm happy they acknowledged that there IS a middle ground- physical intimacy without overt sexual overtones. I will flirt while making rice, go to a festival and promptly fall asleep, thank you.

he carved your name into that tree with so much grief and power behind it that it can’t be undone. he loves you that much.

even though he loves you THAT MUCH, he congratulates you when you’re with anyone else. he supports you and even tells you you and your partner are cute together.

Necromancy gone bad

For a company that prides itself on having created a supposedly diverse visual novel comprised of a “colourful cast of characters,” Nix Hydra sure was comfortable editing a very clearly Muslim-coded woman’s hijab in such a way that her hair is now showcased. Countless other people have posted about this edit that was snuck into the game right under our noses, but I feel like it needs to be stated openly and loudly that not only does this edit show Islamophobia at work, it showcases that Nix Hydra is Islamophobic as well.

Rather than listening to fans who raised issues with the fact that Aisha’s arms were bare in her sprite and that Muslim-coded characters were shown to be partaking in drinking alcohol and eating foods that are considered to be Haram, they decided to go the opposite direction and further erase what little Muslim representation there was in the game. This is not fucking okay, because it really drives home that this company cares more about the comfort of bigots than it does about respectfully and accurately representing cultural and ethnic backgrounds that they clearly have done minimal research on.

If you’re okay with this or if your response to this is “it’s just a game, there’s no need to get so heated,” you can go ahead and block me because it’s clear that you’re either Islamophobic or have internalized some Islamophobic rhetoric.

And @thearcanagame? Do fucking better.

hc that asra's iconic colorful coat is made of completely hand stitched patterns and was a birthday present from the MC. It's why he always wears it on journeys where he won't see them for long periods of time.
