《Project Update #4》

Show me Something Good

This past week, I've been working very hard on my video. However, I've kind of changed my mind. At first, I thought I was going to have some live action, but it would be hard for me to video tape something to do with hiccups. For now, I decided to just put voice overs and maybe some music. So far, I have come up with a couple minutes of my video. My goal this week is to continue working on my video and finish it.

This week, I started working on the title page and introduction page of my video. In my video, I'm thinking of adding voiceovers as well as text. Aside from the video, I have also continued researching more about hiccups.

This past week I've been starting to work on my video. Although I'm still not completely sure how I will organize the video together. I have all the equipment I need, I just need to plan and organize the way the video will be put together and how it will look. Along with that, I've also been doing some more research.

Progress Update #1

Show Me Something Good Project

This week, I have done lots of research but I'm not completely done yet. The research I focused on was mostly how we can get rid of hiccups and a bit on why we get hiccups.

Aside from the research, I've planed a calender and I really hope I will stick to it. If I cannot, I will at least try my best. I want to follow my schedule/calendar this time because I don't want to rush everything like I did for my Art of Biology. I want to make sure everything in this project goes well.

Art of Biology #3

My project is going well so far and I made some progress this week. I decorated the Styrofoam ball to make it look like an eye. All I have left to do is glue the toy cones onto the Styrofoam ball, which will represent the cones in our eye. This week, I also finished writing my second draft of my blurb. I couldn’t think of a name for it, so I decided to name my project “ The Conie Eye”.

Weekly update 2

Over spring break, I've been thinking of changing my topic slightly. Instead of doing a model of how we see optical illusions, I wanted to change it to how we see colour. Since I've changed the topic, I had to find more about it. I've done most of my research on how we see colour, but I am planning to do more, if need, as I do my project. I also finished my fist draft of the blurb and brought all my material needed to build my model.

Weekly update #1

Over the past couple of classes, I researched more about how the eye works and how it might relate to mirrors. I also found some information about how our eyes see optical illusions. I'm not a hundred percent sure how I'm going to do the model with the mirrors, but I have most of the items/parts needed for th project at home already.

Art of Biology

For my art of biology assignment, I was thinking of learning more about how our eyes work or how our brain works. I couldn’t decide on whether to do the eye or the brain, so I decided to combine the two together. I’m going to research and find more about how our eyes and brain work together when seeing optical illusions. The question to this is, How do our eyes and brain work together to see optical illusions? I want to learn more about this because every time I see optical illusions, I would be very confused on how it works, but at the same time, I’m very surprised and amazed at how it works. It’s like somehow my mind is being tricked and I never understand why.

For the art piece of this project, I’m still deciding on if I should do just optical illusions or if I should do something with mirrors. I want to use mirrors for this because mirrors are reflections, which relates to how our eyes see things. I was thinking of using different sizes, and maybe shapes, and placing them in different angles to show how it is very confusing, just like how optical illusions are very confusing. In my mind, I was thinking of putting these different sized mirrors at different angles in a box or something. I am not entirely sure of this idea yet, but I will do something along the line of this. I might be switching a few minor things along the way as I continue to learn more about how our eyes and brain connect/ work together to see optical illusions.

The Art of Biology Assignment

Something I want to learn about is how our eyes work and how we see things. I also want to learn how we can see different colours. I will be making a model to display and show the parts of the eye and what each part does and how each part works.

Weekly update #7

This week, we sold cookie, just like th last couple of weeks. However, this time we used a different brand of cookie dough and I made the cookies a bit too hard. The edges were not that hard but the center was very hard and hard to eat. I will remember that for next week and try to make it softer. So far we earned $53.50 altogether. We hope others continue to buy from us and help support the childrens hospital.

Weekly update 6

This week was our 3rd time selling and we sold $38. We think if we continue selling and earing the money at this rate we will be pretty successful. We hope people continue to buy from us. Over the last couple weeks, we noticed that not many people wanted to buy the mugs and soaps, so we will not be making them every week, but we will be making the cookies every week.

Weekly update 5

This week, we sold cookies, mugs and soaps, just like last week. We sold two times more cookies than past week. This week we also sold one mug and a couple packs of soaps. We realised that since the cookies are a great seller, we will be selling more of them than the mugs and soaps.

Weekly update 4

This week, Alicia, Joy and I made the cookies and we sold them all during the first 10 minutes. We made mugs and soap but we didn't have time to set up a table so we didnt sell any since we didn't want to walk around in the hallways holding mugs and soaps. In total, we profited $5.50.

Weekly update 3

This week, we actually decided on the price of the items. The cookies are $0.75 and the mugs cost $4. We also decided that there will be two different type of gift bags. One will include mugs and soaps and the other one will include 3 oreo cookies. The soaps and mugs one will cost $7 and the cookies gift bag will cost $2. We will be making the cookies on Tuesday so they will be ready on Wednesday.

Giraffe project: weekly update #2

This week, our group is a little behind on our schedule. We didn’t make the mugs and soaps yet but, we decided we want some advertising posters around the school so that others that want to buy, can see it.

We started planning on how the posters will look and the prices. The soaps will cost $4 for 2. The oreo cookies (bits of oreo inside a chicolate chip cookie) will cost $0.75 or $1 and the mugs will cost $3 or $4. We haven’t decided yet. My group wanted to sell gift bags with the mug and soap together for those that want both the mug and the soap or for those that want to give it as a gift to others.

260 words story: Remembering The Past

I was listening to my English teacher talk, knowing I will probably forget everything she just said. She said something about homework and I write it down in my agenda. I wasn’t even paying attention and all of a sudden, the bell rang. Finally, school is over and we are all free. School was pretty fun today and I made a couple of new friends. We had a pretty good time together. My friends and I sometimes hang out after school to go shopping, explore or just hang out and have fun. Other than that, I don’t have anything important to do after school, except for Fridays. Today, is Friday which means I need to go to the pharmacy and get my prescription. As I pay for my prescription, I grabbed a bag of chips from the checkout. I know it’s probably bad for me but I don’t really care right now. After that, I go back home and write in my journal about my day because I always end up forgetting everything that happened the day after because of my short term memory loss. I feel like writing in my journal is actually helping my memory loss and it helps me remember things.

Giraffe Project #1

This week, Alicia, Joy and I went to buy the items needed for our sale. We brought mugs, soaps and nail polish. We are planning to start making the festive mugs and soaps on Saturday. We are also planning to buy the ingerdents for the Oreo cookies on the following Saturday and we will be actually making the cookies on Sunday. We will be selling the cookies, mugs and soap every Wednesday in front of the cafeteria starting from Nov. 15 to Jan. 24. Depending on how well these items might sell, we might have to restock and make more items.
