Everything's OK! AU Headcanons

We all know that Sunny is malnourished and unhealthy in the canon overall, and some may theorize so is Basil. In this AU where nothing's wrong, they both grow up to be healthy teenagers which makes me happy. I don't know the exact height scale, I reckon both of them would be taller than the girls yet shorter than the brothers. Sunny is probably taller than Basil.

With a lack of parental figures, I'd imagine Aubrey would get even more closer with Mari. I feel like with Mari's influence Aubrey would still remain angry but would be able to express her anger better this time. I said it before, I want to make her punk! Aubrey would be an excellent punk. Though, I'm not educated enough about the punk subculture to have 100% confidence to claim so. I'd imagine enjoying the Riot Grrrl subculture a lot, though. I do see her as an angry feminist, with Mari's influence. Mari would guide her to pursue higher education. I can see Aubrey as a version of Kat Stratford from 10 Things I Hate About You or something. She would pursue literature in college perhaps. That's cool. But she is still the fragile girl who wears her feelings on her sleeve and who has severe abandonment issues, so do not be mistaken. She is just better at hiding it and knows more words.

For someone who claims Basil is her favorite, I sure think about Aubrey a lot more often huh. Well; Basil, Mari and Aubrey are all my favorites. Basil just holds a dear place in my heart. I'll be harsh for a little here, but I feel like Basil and Sunny aren't really best friends. Don't get me wrong, Basil absolutely adores Sunny; he is probably the only one who ever listens. Basil comes off as more meek than others, he cherishes his friends a whole lot but due to his personality being more calm and gentle than others he is always in the background, watching. However, Sunny is even quieter than him; and I believe Basil takes great solace in that. Sunny adores his friends too, in a different way. However, perhaps because I lack media literacy, I am not able to read Sunny's feelings towards others well; it's obvious he adores his friends to the bits but I'm unsure whom he feels closest to. I'd say Kel, since they've known each other for longer and I sort of view Sunny as someone harboring a chaotic side which Kel brings out the best. Now, I'm not saying Sunny doesn't like Basil; what is there to not like about him? I just somehow feel like if everything went well, Aubrey and Basil would get closer. Disclaimer, I ship Sunny × Aubrey, so this is purely platonic (I love platonic relationships if you didn't get it).

It makes sense. Both her and Basil come from broken homes, they are both sentimental (Aubrey's love for Basil's photo album proves that), and Aubrey's the one who introduced him to the group. Also, in Headspace, Aubrey talks about how much he misses Basil combing her hair which is the cutest thing ever. Again, it circled back to Aubrey lmao.

Moving on!!! I feel like Basil would give petnames to everyone in the group, aside from Mari and Hero I guess. The petnames are, again, purely platonic. But I do want to see him more and more comfortable with showing affection as he grows up. Now, I'm not good with petnames so I can't tell what exactly he calls them, but let me know if you have any ideas lmao. I would really love for Basil to grow into a comfortable person, carefree and loving. He'd maybe gift his friends homemade soap, he'd take care of them in silent ways. After all, that's the kind of person he is. A silent support.

Overall, I want to convey the love characters have for each other in this AU. I hope I'm able to do it well. Found family trope got me in a chokehold.

since everyone seemed to like the gilmore girls x omori thing, i wanted to give something more. it's not much, could've been better, yet it made me feel warm nonetheless. hope you enjoy.

i just wanted to showcase aubrey's pink skunk hair. i feel like the timeline fits. i've been thinking about this au since 2021 and always imagined aubrey with this hair but GOD is it difficult to draw.

OMORI takes place in late 90s-00s. Gilmore Girls started airing in 2000. The characters are known for watching TV together. Therefore it is possible that in a world where nothing happened to the gang, Aubrey and Mari (perhaps sometimes Basil tagged along) watched Gilmore Girls together. Kel and Hero definitely weren't too into it, I could see Hero watching it together with Mari during college but I doubt Kel would enjoy it. It's Aubrey's soft spot, plus she gets to hang out with Mari. Sunny only tagged along because he had nothing better to do at that moment (and Aubrey called!). Basil's just one of the girls. He's. He'd enjoy it. Not as much as the girls, but he'd like it.

My designs for the OMORI AU where everything's actually fine and everyone's alive and well. Hero's studying gastronomy, Mari's... Idk her major yet, but him and Sunny now have a typical sibling relationship (inspired by an AO3 fic I love lmao), Aubrey's an emo (I wanted to make her punk and failed....... 💔) and the rest is... Well, they haven't changed much. This is a boring ass AU, but it was born out of a need lmao. Fluff and crack to come. I think.
