I am sorry if this is hurtful to some of you but when you put your hands over your ears and decide not to listen to the suffering of others, when you refuse to do the least you can do, which is to lend them an ear, talk about them and share their stories and their voices, then you genuinely need to think about your morals. Long and hard
When I was a child, our parents, grandparents and everyone else would tell us of the cruelties our people have lived through. How they suffered and how they died. In such gruesome detail that you'd be shocked to hear what kind of talk has met my ears at such a young age. Even back then, I knew that it was important to listen, to remember, and to understand. You as an adult have NO excuse not to be listening right now, at the very least. NONE.
We are one big society. There is no "me" and "other people". Those are your brothers and sisters dying out there and you are worried about your safe space online. As if you don't get to have that as soon as you switch off your phone, get into bed and go to sleep. Shame on you, if you look away. Shame on you

This is what genocide looks like. These are the 2913 Palestinian children killed by the Israeli military this month, as of Thursday, October 26. As the Israeli airstrikes on Gaza intensify, we recognize with horror and grief that this death toll is already inaccurate.

Palestine is NOT a trend. boycotting Israel-supporting companies is NOT a trend. your compassion for the innocent is NOT a trend. isreal was, is and WILL continue killing Palestinians and bombing Gaza for as long as the world is silent. do not stop talking about it. do not stop boycotting. never. stop.

[i've never doubted that palestine will live.
the US dropped more than 7.5 million tons of bombs on vietnam, laos and cambodia from 1965-75. they destroyed our land, used agent orange, slaughtered villages, separated families, the list goes on.
but we're. still. here.
indigenous people are still here. black people are still here. colonized people are resilient. even if you kill our people, ban our languages, destroy our homes, heritage sites and artifacts, we will always find a way to keep our cultures alive and that has always been true
so much of the west and isntreal's tactics and actions are hauntingly familiar to me as a viet person. its a colonizer's rinse and repeat. and so that's how i know palestine will be free. we've seen this film before]

names not numbers

The Palestinian Ministry of Health released a report on Thursday, including the names of more than seven thousand Palestinians who were martyred in the Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip.
Red color highlights 0-4 years old age group
Green color highlights age group 5-17
White color highlights the age group between 18 and 59 years old
Gray color highlights the age group over 60
These are not just names, but people killed in the midst of a brutal war. Remember their names.

Able bodied parents I'm begging you to teach your kids about disabled people. Not just because they could become disabled themselves one day but also because even if they don't, they have a very real chance of being rude to us if you don't teach them.
Yes, kids just say shit. They have no filter. That doesn't make it any less humiliating when your child sits near me on the bus and incessantly grills me on why I have a stick when I'm not old. Or laughs at us for things our disability causes. It doesn't take away the hurt when they bully a disabled classmate. For a large part these things could be avoided if you just taught your kids to respect us. It's really not that hard.

Today marks the anniversary of Captain Cook’s death Hawai’i at the hand of my people, Kānaka Maoli.
With this act, Cook’s reign of terror was ended in the Pacific. However, the stains of his legacy remain.
Today we can laugh and joke about Cook, but also remember my people. We acted boldly and skillfully against Cook and his colonization, but in the end, my people still fell prey to White Greed.
Keep my people in your thoughts today by standing up for Native Hawaiian sovereignty, rights and educating yourself on the current issues facing my people.
We killed Cook, but we could not kill what he stood for.
Free Hawai’i. Return Hawai’i to Hawaiian. End the American Occupation.
