BSc Digital Arts & Technology Final Project
Hello, I am Megan a creative technologist, and this is my project titled “Your move, human”
I believe art shouldn’t just be about creating something pretty, and technology isn’t just about functionality - I like to test the boundaries, provoke and entice people to my work. I like to create engaging interactive pieces, as to me this interaction creates a more immersive experience.
“Your move human” is a physical representation of the man against machine battle. I used a chess because it is said to be the drosophila of artificial intelligence and it’s also my hobby. Whilst playing on the board, you interact with Chessbot, who is my chess machine’s personality. She helps you throughout the game and also informs you about important years through the history of chess artificial intelligence. However there is more to this chess machine that meets the eye. This is where I like to provoke the user, and hopefully make them think about issues they may not have even considered before.
I know it's past the deadline - I personally know this lady who wrote this article! She's in the English Woman's Olympiad team. Interesting how lately this man v machine battle is becoming more talked about again.
The main feedback was that people didn’t really know if it was the end.. so I’ve added this animation to help anyone who tries pressing buttons after the breaking animation.
My ending isn't quite as impactful so after my breaking board animation, I'm adding a new section for chessbot to tell the players they've both lost and the game is over. I want it to look a bit command line style hence the font and typing mask!
