“Oh, I’ve heard equine therapy is incredible.” Chessy was instantly entranced at the idea of trying horseback riding. “It’s actually come up in some of my therapy sessions. My therapist in New York was always telling me to try it out, but I hardly made it out of my little bubble, let alone upstate.”
"Endlessly," she laughed, nodding her head. "I work as a physical therapist during the day, but I spend my afternoons running the therapeutic riding program here in town, so I stay pretty busy with the horses." She might not compete or own a farm or any of the thing she swore she would do as a kid, but she kept herself busy. "You know, you're always welcome to come out to the barn now! I might not be able to make up for your childhood, but I definitely can still get you on horseback," she laughed, ordering a glass of wine and a small cheese plate when the waiter came around. Turning the subject back to Chessy, "and how are you, gorgeous?"

“Yes well, it wouldn’t be delight if I was alone, would it?” The blood rushed to her chest as a wave of cringe took over. She shook it off and looked down at her empty glass. “What’s your poison? Next round’s on me.”
”But of course.” Michael said bemusedly, fingers clasping onto the back of the chair opposite her loosely. “Mind if I join you? I could use an afternoon delight, myself. Although I might go for something different than a martini.”

Despite nearing the age of thirty, the sound of Elise’s serious voice (even in jest) still got Chessy’s attention like nothing else. Her head snapped up and she rolled her eyes. “Oh hush, I’m simply gracing them with my presence, and if nothing else, I’m patronizing the best restaurant in all of Maine.”
Elise had been alerted, almost immediately, to her sister's arrival. She couldn't join to torment her immediately, being ensconced in her back office, but as soon as she was finished with some paperwork, she found herself sliding behind the bar. "Are you giving my staff trouble?" she said in lieu of a greeting.

Chessy couldn’t help but chuckle at Mike’s greeting. She was down to the last olive in her drink, and with a sarcastic sigh, she replied. “What? Can’t a girl enjoy an afternoon delight every once in a while?” Her eyes scanned his face and she sat back in her seat. “How you doin’, Mike?”
Mike wasn't in the mood to try and prepare himself something for lunch and found himself at Taste to get a bite to eat. He was about to sit down at a table when he saw Chessy in his peripherals, adjusting his destination to approach the blonde with a smile. “Always happy hour sometime, huh?”

Olivia looked nearly the same as she did when she was in high school, yet somehow now she wasn’t the intimidating school friend of Elise’s. In fact, Chessy was very warmed by her presence. “Are you still riding?” She asked. “I used to be so jealous when Elise would go to the barn with you. I wanted a pony so badly, but my mom was adamant that I stuck to ballet.” Which was ironic, since her mother rarely made it to a recital.
"Hi, Chessy!" Livvy broke into a bright grin at the sight of her friend's younger sister, hurrying over without a second thought and leaning over to hug her where she was sitting. "I'm good! Came by to get a drink, maybe a little snack. How are you? You look gorgeous, as usual," which really was nothing new for a Quinn girl. "You don't have to twist my leg."

It really shouldn’t have surprised Chessy when another person sat down next to her. She was at a public establishment after all and her father had unfortunately had passed down his knack for unintentionally looking approachable. She scoffed and shook her head. “Actually, dirty with three olives. Minimum.” Her eyes flicked up. “You a Bond guy yourself?”
JD needed a change of scenery, the summer was in full swing and he was itching for adventure. He rarely frequented Taste but figured it was something different. Sliding into a chair, he leaned against the counter. Turning to the person beside him, he smiled. "Shaken or stirred?" He asked and nodded towards the Martini glass in front of the other.

“Liv?” Chessy spun around to face her sister’s friend. “Oh my god! How are you?” She swiftly dragged a seat over, feeling somewhat thrilled by a familiar face. She tapped the stool and smiled. “Sit down, let me buy you a drink!”
Of all the drinking establishments in town, Livvy absolutely spent the most time in Taste. Partially because she thought they had the best food and drinks in town... but mostly because being good friends with Elise was a huge perk. As she stepped into the cool space, away from the summer heat, she glanced around, spotting a familiar face and waving towards Francesca. "Well hey, you."

The sound of the stool next to hers being taken alerted Chessy to her newest bar neighbor. She giggled and raised an eyebrow at her glass in mock decisiveness. “Depends on who you ask. As the owner’s sister, it’s excellent and I need six more.” She then lowered her voice to just above a whisper. “But as a connoisseur or all things martini, it could be a little dirtier.”
She couldn't remember the last time she'd been in Taste. It was probably with a friend, trying it out as something different than their usual plans. But Aisha decided to stop in on a whim to get a drink or two, having nothing in particular to do that night. As she took a seat by the bar, she gave a friendly smile to the other. "How's the martini? So I know whether or not to get one myself."

Where: Taste
With: Open
When: July 2024
Chessy swished the olive around her martini glass and glanced over her shoulder, sighing. It felt foreign being in her sister’s restaurant during actual business hours, but she figured it couldn’t hurt to stop in after work for one drink.

Merrock Task #20 - Social Media
at what age did your character start using social media? definitely younger, probably 10 or 11, just to keep up with her sister!
did their parents monitor their use, if they were young? absolutely not, though her mom did make her delete a bikini selfie when she was 15, understandably.
has your character ever had fake identities or accounts online? no, but she's for sure snooped on her exes with a friend's account.
no shame: do they remember myspace? did they use it? she made one, but never used it. too intimidating.
who would be in their top eight today? her sister, sabine, and whoever else wanted to be.
what social media platforms do they use today? instagram is the go-to, but she lives for a twitter scroll and like any millennial, can't go a day without tiktok.
do they have public profiles, or go private? she used to be public, but now that she works with and around kids, she's chosen to go private.
how about their following? are they pretty lowkey, or do they have a decent following? she'd consider it lowkey. her instagram is pretty personal.
do they tend to pick obvious usernames, ones with sentimental value, funny things? how do they decide? she's not as creative about her usernames, actually.
profile pictures: the same across all platforms? it depends on the audience.
and just what profile pictures do they use? any pictures her friends take that make her feel cute.
what kind of bio writer are they? silly, cute, sweet, or just basic? basic, but she tries to keep it meaningful.
how much time per day would you say that your character spends on social media? at least an hour just scrolling.
is there one platform that they visit more than others? instagram!
be honest: have they ever created an account for something else, like a hobby, or… to try to make their cat internet famous? she has an instagram for her art, but hasn't updated in in a while.
do they run any professional or business accounts? she helps with the museum account on occasion.
have they ever left a social media platform (or more than one) for any specific reason? myspace, because none of her friends were on it.
do they plan on using social media into their older ages? definitely, she wants to be able to keep in touch with everyone.
have they ever made any long-lasting friendships through social media? unfortunately for the romantic in her, no.
or on the flip side, gotten into any big social media beef? definitely not.
have they ever felt negatively impacted by social media as a user? well sure, when she forgets to block an ex and they pop up with a new fling, that never feels good.
who is their favorite person / account to follow on social media? weratedogs on tiktok and any fashion/art publication's instagram
would they say that social media has had an overall more positive or negative impact on the world? somewhere in the middle.
and finally: a/s/l? (and do they know what that means?) depends who's asking ;)
