A Busy Week We walked up Corso Garibaldi to Monteripido (literally steep mountain) which is the 13th Century Convento where Beato Egidio (Blessed Giles) one of Francis’ earliest followers spent his last years. On the way we visited Tempio Sant’Angelo, the church of St. Michael Archangel – a small circular church that dates back to the 5th Century. A few days later we went to San Marino, which is a tiny independent republic inside Italy’s borders. I didn’t think there was much to see apart from a mountain top castle with spectacular views – and a lot of snow. This weekend we went to a birthday party held in a 13th century Benedictine Abby – lots of great food, good wine, and dancing. That night we were back to Perugia and a concert at the Palazzo della Penna, which houses a modern art collection featuring the work of local Futurist painter Gerardo Dottore. I am posting some of the shots of all of these sites pretty much in the order that we visited them.
