I think the improtance of communication and Bintis connection to heritage and identity. The moment in the book when Binti speaks to Meduse, she realizes her power across differences. "I opened my mouth to speak, to say something, but what I wanted to say didn't come out. What I needed to say did not exist in words", (Binti).

4 - Sleep to me feels like a space where I can gather my thoughts. It's the time when you can disconnect from the demands and tasks you're faced with daily. My family means everything to me, they make me feel safe and shape who I am.

My research is going great so far, I haven't found anything difficult but I am surprised by the importance and significance that language and culture has between different cultures.

Watching this wasn't extremely shocking to me but what was was the prominence of racism against Arab people in kids movies that I grew up watching and how back then it went unnoticeable. It's sad seeing how Arab people are portrayed in the media till this day. None of the movies that were mentioned Id seen but it was devastating to see how people pick sides based on inaccurately portrayed lifestyles of Arab people.

Construção - I chose this song because despite its beautiful musical arrangements, the lyrics represent the reality of one of the harshest times of dictatorship in Brazil. I think it relates to the title of this class because were learning about the reality of the history of Islam and the Western World.

My full name is Chido which means passion in Shona, the language that is spoken where my family is from, Zimbabwe. My sister and I were born in a small town called Camberly a few miles away from Heathrow airport. My family moved to the Bay Area then Los Angels in 2017 due to my dads work. I like going on walks, reading here and there. My favorite movie is White Chicks and my favorite book is The Virgin Suicides. Im confident in my writing but I'm not so confident in my reading solely because of the fact that my mind starts to wonder. Im very comfortable with technology and I don't find myself having issues accessing wifi on my computer. I prefer to use google docs and Notes.
