After a long absence from Tumblr, I have returned with colored art for my comic Children of Danu. I may be presenting other pieces I did when I didn’t have internet or scanner accessibility.

This person eloquently speaks of how what I saw and felt when viewing the Last Jedi. Haters lick my ballsack.
“Luke in this film is not really a power fantasy, he’s a mirror to our complete selves. A mirror to all the darker truths of what adults carry around inside. But it’s precisely the act of Yoda showing him this mirror that helps Luke accept how he has changed, and therefore come back into ‘himself.’ And so when Luke finds his courage to face his demons? It results in the most rousing sequence of the film, and maybe even the entire series. Luke’s transcendent finale battle with Kylo is probably the single most badass thing I’ve ever seen in these films. Luke literally heads off an entire squad of AT-AT walkers, has a tense samurai-esque lightsaber battle with Kylo, and then it’s revealed to be an incredible ruse of force projection from across the galaxy, thus rendering it an incredible act of Jedi-like pacifism to boot. He, like so many in the film, wins not by fighting what he hates, but by saving the people he loves. And having used every ounce of the force within him, he stares into the sun, the boy who always looked to the horizon for what was next, now simply closing his eyes and feeling where he is now…and he lets go. I got literal goosebumps. For all the deep want of Luke being a god, it is with the most Jesus-like notions of sacrifice that he feels the most human.”

This is actually brilliant.

Todd McAthur writes:
“My entry for projectrooftop’s Batgirl Redesign contest. I hit on the idea of having a girl holding a baseball bat (bat plus girl–get it??), but then thought if I was gonna go for such a bad pun, I might as well make it as silly as possible.”

Interesting. Though I’m not a fan of dubstep, it has Star Wars and bagpipes. Also that’s a cool bagpipe.

My goddess, Carrie Fisher should be granted sainthood. :’)
I met Carrie Fisher exactly once at a convention, and when I met her she immediately bought a poster from our booth with the words “Hey Assbutt” on them with the intention of sending it to Harrison Ford for his birthday.
I’d like to think of that as the epitome of how I’d like to have met her and honestly wouldn’t want it any other way.

I already have Tendonitis that is acting up almost worse than it did 19 years ago. I’m reblogging this so I can come back and try these. Getting tired of not being able to raise my left arm high or even bumping it causing pain in my shoulder.
youtube
Every artist who sees this post should do the following:
- Watch the video.
- Follow the instructions
- Reblog
I can’t stress you enough about how important these exercises are for your drawing hand. You don’t wanna get CTS of Tendonitis and similar stuff that will prevent you from making art or even hold a pencil.

This is pretty cool.
The Irish mythology in Berserk is to die for.
One of the most underappreciated things in the world is most certainly Irish mythology and folklore and to see it showing up in one of my favourite manga of all time is a dream come true. lemme break it down.
1. skellig island
heres a picture of skellig island, right well guess what? Skellig is most certainly named after the skellig Islands of ireland. The Skellig Islands are a pair of rocky islands of whick Skellig Michael is most famous. It was settled by christian monks and to this day is dotted with the remains of cells and stone buildings

Also you’ll notice the spiral covered rocks well those spiral patterns were synonymous with celtic tradition. Its called the triskele and it was a major part of celtic paganism and celtic christianity where it could represent the trinity.

This is a picture of the triskele in Newgrange tomb in Ireland, fun fact Newgrange predates the pyramids of Giza by several centuries. (3200 bce).
2. fairies and Danann
One of the major parts of Irish folk-history are the five invasions. These invasions describe the major settlements of people onto Ireland and were passed on orally before being transcribed by christian monks. In mythology the fourth invasion was led by the Tuatha dé Danann, who became the Gaelic Irish pantheon. Instantly you can see the connection, the namesake of all the gods of Ireland is a character in berserk.
Ireland also has an extensive Fairy culture, now when you hear fairy you might imagine the likes of Tinkerbell from peter pan but in Irish folklore almost all of the supernatural spirits were called fairies. There were exstensive amounts of warding techniques and some families continued using them as late as the 50s and 60s. creatures such as the Dullahan, leprechauns, changelings and Banshee all count as Irish fairies, The Tuatha Dé Danann are also counted as faries and its believed that when the monks of ireland wrote of Fairy kings or queens they’d actually be writing about God of Irish mythology and simply refused to call them gods.
3.The Otherworld
Berserk features a lot of extra-planar shenanigans and the witch’s village on Skellig is comparable to the gaelic concept of otherworld. The people who lived in Otherworld included the Aos Sí (meaning people of the mounds), they were said to live in bountiful kingdoms under the hills of Ireland. In these kingdoms time always worked differently, in tales such as Oisín i dTír na nÓg, a couple of years in the land of youth would be a couple of centuries in Ireland, but I’m familiar with a tale where a man is taken prisoner into the underground until he is busted out. when he returns he has a basket of harvest fruits because he had been in otherworld for half a year, but he returns to his Halloween party with none the wiser as to why he was gone for a while.

All this. When I had World Lit II with Dr. Lucas, a kid just out of high school that was a ‘youth minister” and thought he had more knowledge than two men his senior by 25 years. First day of class this kid chased me outside to give me a paper with “info” to validate his beliefs. Dude did the pentacles I wear not give you a clue I don’t care. He would argue with us in class and get shot down with logic and experience. I mean Dr. Lucas has a doctorate in his field. When it came down to the first paper being due, he dropped the class and a fellow student exclaimed “Where’s Renee? Who are we going to argue/discuss with and be entertained by now?” The whole point that the Church and religion withheld education from the masses was for easier control of those masses and since higher education became more available after WWII, questioning authority and the world around us became more prevalent. We as a people were becoming less cut off from one another with advances in technology, but there are still those use their mouths to instill fear and ignorance into those with religious inclinations that can’t accept or evolve past a time when modern medicine would be considered the work of the devil. The advent of “talk radio” mouth pieces filling peoples heads with nonsense and the childish name calling to make someone with an open mind (i.e., liberal) into something dirty is as bad as when I was in grade school 30+ years ago and heard people of color telling others that if they spoke without slang and were well educated that they were acting “white”. Which is a crying shame to think to truly accept your ethnic color and roots you have to be of lower intelligence and to be otherwise is not holding true to your ethnicity. Education is important to all and we should never stop learning until the day the Great Mother accepts us back into her bosom.
