A Crash Course in Warding
Let’s just start a series of crash courses in witchcraft, since sometimes we need to learn things the quick and dirty way. Today, let’s talk about wards.
What are wards? Wards are protective energy barriers. They keep things out. You can place them around your home, certain rooms, even on certain objects. With practice and clear intentions, you can focus the wards to block out everything or only certain things. We’ll get to that in a bit.
Why should I ward my space and my things? Wards can keep out all sorts of things you don’t want in your home. They can block out negative entities, wayward spirits, mischievous entities, demons, and (if you’re really good at what you’re doing) even gods. Some people ward their divination tools so they know there are no spirits tampering with the results.
So what do I need to do first? Cleanse. This is very important. Wards are kind of like walls, or perhaps more accurately, bubbles. If you don’t clean the space first, you might trap things inside your ward bubble. You do not want that. There are lots of methods of cleansing, from burning sage to spritzing oil-infused water. Find a method you’re comfortable with and cleanse everything you’re going to be warding.
I’ve cleansed my home/item. Now what? Now we ward. I’m going to give you a couple methods. Let’s start with my favorite, incense warding.
Incense warding can also be done with spritzes of water/essential oil blends or herb-infused water if you can’t have smoke in your space. Whichever you’re using, you want to have a blend of protective herbs. Bay leaves, cinnamon, ginger, mustard seed, and salt are some great options that you can find in the grocery store, no fancy witch shop necessary. If you’re using incense, make sure you’re using natural incense and not super cheap stuff that’s artificially scented. The magic is in the herbs, and you won’t get that from fake scents.
How to Incense/Spritz Ward an Item
Smoke or spray item.
Visualize the smoke or spray clinging to the item and wrapping around it like a tight blanket, protecting it from anything that would cause harm (or interference, etc.).
How to Incense/Spritz Ward Your Space
Pick a place to start. I always start at my altar, but it’s up to you. If you’re doing multiple floors, start either at the top or bottom floor.
Moving continuously to your right, smoke or spray along the walls and door frames. As you go, imagine a barrier being formed around the walls, ceiling, and floor, pushing outwards to fill the room. Visualize the smoke or spray forming the barrier to keep out anything that will do you harm. [If you have a hard time with visualization, you can simply focus on the intent of the smoke or spray keeping things out.]
Keep moving right, following the layout of your home, making sure you get all the closet spaces. You basically want to outline the entire area you’re protecting, whether it’s you’re room or your whole house.
For multiple floors, repeat on each level.
For big layouts where there are rooms in the middle, go around those rooms as well.
I like to reinforce the wards over outside doors, windows, and mirrors. These are all passages of sorts, and when I reach them, I use the incense to draw a pentagram in the air over them. This is entirely up to you.
You’re done when you’ve reached the point where you began.
So why do we go to the right? Is that important? Kind of. Going to the right is like going clockwise. It’s about making things and progression, where going to the left or counter-clockwise is about deconstruction or reversal. [I read this idea in a witchy book a long time ago and will try to find a source when I can. If you honestly don’t feel it makes a difference, do whatever you’re comfortable with.]
Can I place wards that keep out certain things but not others? Sure. When you’re going around your space/warding your item, your intent is what’s important. I like to ward out entities that mean harm - it’s nice and general and doesn’t keep the fae out. Some people might want certain spirits and not others. Have your intentions clear in your mind as you place your wards.
That’s neat and all, but what are some other ways to ward? Let’s list a few.
Symbol/Sigil Wards
Choose (or make) a symbol or sigil that has protective properties. I’ve done this with Pluto’s astrological symbol because I worship him and it’s my way of being like, “Hey, Pluto. Please protect me, kthanxbai.” Pentagrams are nice and basic witchy/pagan symbols if you like them.
Draw the symbol over doors and windows. You do not literally have to draw it. It can be in water, incense smoke, or just your finger against the surface if you want.
As you’re drawing, make sure you have your intentions in mind - that nothing harmful can pass through this door, that the windows remain closed against entities, etc.
Energy Bubbles (if you have control over your energy)
Pick an item - any item.
Get your warding intentions in mind.
Channel lots of energy into the item. Visualize it emanating from the item in a bubble to fill your space.
If you’ve got mad skillz, you can form the bubble to the walls and be super exact with where its barriers are.
Vocal Wards
If you like spoken (or thought) spells, come up with a small chant to protect your space.
You can repeat this chant as you focus on your item being protected or as you walk around your home, protecting every room.
This is really great to incorporate into basically any other form of warding and gives your magic an extra bit of oomph.
I’ve heard wards can “fade” over time. True or false? Wards are just energy. Like all energies, they can disperse and weaken over time, or if something particularly nasty puts effort into destroying them. Redo your wards every so often (I do mine every few months, but it’s up to you), and especially before spiritual interactions. I also like to do mine after I’ve had lots of company, to kind of clear out family’s lingering energies and reinforce what I don’t want in my house.
In general, the intent of your wards is the most important part. Know what you want to keep out. This concludes our crash course on warding. Now go forth and protect some stuff!

Bedroom Witch Tips
🌿Herb sachets hung above your bed (request herb sachet recipes from me if you’re interested).
🌿Hang Dry herbs upside down in your bedroom (Lavender helps for anxiety and depression… it is very calming or Mugwort for dreams. Mugwort is very invasive, you can find it growing everywhere).
🌿Herbs placed inside your pillow sheet (I place Mugwort leaves inside to active lucid dreams).
🌿Setup an Altar near your bed: add elements of earth, fire, water and air. You can also use your windowsill as an altar.
🌿Place Black Tourmaline under your bed: shields you energetically by taking the electromagnetic frequencies, and instead of absorbing them, tourmaline changes, redirects, cleanses, and purifies the energy. This is how it handles negativity, even energies of psychic attack too!
🌿Place Sigil writings or powders for protection and restful beauty sleep under your mattress.
🌿Keep a dream journal under your pillow! Dreams can help us get a glimpse into our subconscious and the more dreams you write the easier it becomes for you to remember them.
🌿Unless you are allergic, sleep with the window halfway open or cracked to let good energy move around and circulate in your room and keep skin hydrated during the night.
🌿Drink herbal tea before bed each night. (Request free herbal tea recipes from me if interested) Mugwort tea is great to have in the evening before bed to reach high levels of lucid dreaming
🌿Smoking Herbs before bed is great as well. I recommend this book for further reading: Smoke Plants Of North America by M.R. Ross. (Request free Smoke Blend recipes from me if interested). With reverence, Rosemary Milk 🌹

🌷🐰Happy Ostara!🐰🌷
It’s finally time to welcome one of my favorite seasons, spring! there’s a lot of debate about whether ostara is an actual Sabbat because the traditional wheel of the year only has seven Sabbats. ostara was essentially added to create balance and symmetry in the pagan year. whether or not you celebrate, there are still some awesome things you can do to invite some spring energy into your life!
☀️ clean out your room or arrange your altar space.
☀️ delete, block, clear, and repeat! if your holding on to any toxic friends rn, cut them tf out babes.
☀️do a spring tarot spread! (hint hint: I’ll be offering free readings today)
☀️light a candle, get some incense, and smudge your space like crazy.
☀️take a nice bath or an extra long shower!
☀️release some emotions through journaling!
☀️wear some pastel colors or white to get you into the spirit.
☀️prepare a lovely meal for yourself! traditional ostara foods include eggs (or tofu for my fellow vegans haha), strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, anything creamy, pastries and desserts!
☀️make yourself feel beautiful! do whatever you need to do to feel your best. ostara is all about recognizing the feminine and regenerating love.
hope some of this helped! have a blessed day! 💓🌸✨🐰

The Houses: An Extended Guide
I’ve been getting lots of questions about what houses are and how they contribute to an astrological chart. I admit, houses were the hardest thing in astrology for me to initially understand. So here is my guide on the houses for you. If you have any specific questions, let me know!
What is a house?
Astronomically, the positions of the houses in a natal chart are calculated using the person’s time of birth and geographical birth location. While the zodiac signs and the planets in the zodiac signs are based on the earth and the other planet’s revolution around the sun, the houses and the planets in the houses are based on the earth’s own rotation about its axis.
Astrologically, each house represents a different function of your life, and all the houses together encompass all the parts of a human’s full life.
What do the houses represent?
Here are the life functions each of the houses represent:
House I: Identity, expression
House II: Possessions, money
House III: Communication
House IV: Family, your roots and home
House V: Creativity, children, sex
House VI: Service, health
House VII: Relationships, marriage
House VIII: Death, transformation
House IX: Travel, philosophy
House X: Career, reputation
House XI: Friends, dreams
House XII: Secrets, self-undoing
So what does this mean for my chart?
Every planet in your chart is in a house the same way it is in a sign. There are two wheels in your chart as depicted below. There is the zodiac wheel which contain the signs (traced in purple) and the wheel of houses which contain the houses (traced in black). Houses can be uneven in size.

For example: look at the chart above, and find the moon symbol towards the top of the chart. It’s in the black division designated for the 9th house (you can see the tiny number 9 towards the center of the circle) and the purple division designated for Gemini (you can see the yellow glyph for Gemini at the edge of the chart above the moon).
The sign (Aries…Pisces) a planet is in shows HOW the planet is manifest in the person’s personality. The house (I…XII) a planet is in shows WHERE in the person’s life the planet’s energy is displayed. To read what the different positions for your planets mean, look at this site and find the position you’d like to learn more about.
How do I find the positions of my houses and what houses my planets are in?
To pull up a chart similar to the one above, go to astro.com. Hover over “Free Horoscopes”, and select “Natal Chart, Ascendant.” You can enter in your birth information and pull up your chart.
Also, to easily find what sign each of your houses start in (i.e. the cusp of each house) go to cafeastrology’s chart generator here. You can pull a table similar to the below.
Under “Placidus Orb: 0″ is a listing of which sign each house begins in. For example, in the table above, the 3rd House (House III) starts 22º in Scorpio. Note that “ascendant” is the same as your rising, which is the same as the sign in which your 1st House starts, and your “midheaven” is the same as the sign in which your 10th House starts.
What if I have empty houses? Did I do something wrong?
You did nothing wrong! Everybody has a few empty houses since there are 10 planets and 12 houses, and they are not necessarily bad. They simply mean that the part of your life that empty house rules won’t be too consciously prominent in your life. Of course an empty 7th house won’t mean you won’t get married and an empty 5th house won’t mean you won’t have children. It simply means your relationships or children won’t be a consciously prominent part of your life.
What are stelliums?
A stellium is when you have 4 or more planets or luminaries (i.e. Mercury…Pluto or sun or moon; nodes, asteroids, and points like Vertex or rising or midheaven aren’t counted) in one house or one sign. It is also debated that a stellium could also consist of 3 personal planets or luminaries (sun, moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars) as well. The sign or house in which the stellium is present will be very prominent in your life.
What are the different kinds of houses?
The twelve houses are divided into three groups: the angular houses (1st house, 4th house, 7th house, 10th house), the succedent houses (2nd house, 5th house, 8th house, 11th house), and the cadent houses (3rd house, 6th house, 9th house, 12th house). The three groups of houses are similar to the qualities or modalities of the zodiac signs. The angular houses (which are accepted as the most important) are similar in quality to the cardinal signs, the succedent houses are similar in quality to the fixed signs, and the cadent houses are similar in quality to the mutable signs.
The twelve houses are also divided into four other separate groups: the houses of life (1st house, 5th house, 9th house), the houses of wealth (2nd house, 6th house, 10th house), the houses of relationships (3rd house, 7th house, 11th house), and the houses of endings (4th house, 8th house, 12th house). These classifications are similar to the elements for the signs. The houses of life correspond with fire, the houses of wealth correspond with earth, the houses of relationships correspond with air, and the houses of endings correspond with water.

No problem :) I love watching movies with different pantheons in it. not much of a variety for films though and shows have even less and most are book adaptations, I coulda named a few more, but then itd of taken a step away from gods and goddesses to heros and lore. even though two of the ones I named centered around a hero
can you please recommend good movies about old gods and godesses?or cartoons or whatever
Hmmm Well I haven’t seen it, but I’ve heard the Percy Jackson series is good.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0814255/
Other than that I don’t really know of any. I can however recommend a ton of books on Greek/Roman mythology. The best in my opinion is Mythology by Edith Hamilton. https://www.amazon.com/Mythology-Timeless-Tales-Gods-Heroes/dp/0446574759
Also, if you have time and are into it, I thoroughly recommend reading of both the Iliad and the Odyssey. They’re pretty big, and poems so they can take time if you’re not a reader or experienced, but if you like just try them out! I’m a bit more of a reader than a movie watcher. Good luck and happy watching/reading!

the percy jackson series is good, but theres only two movies out right now and you learn more from the books than the movies on the gods/ goddesses, hercules the animated series would be a bit better to watch, more variety of gods and goddesses from the greek pantheon and some from other pantheons, clash of the titans and the sequel are also good, gods of egypt was really good and gives a fairly good reference for egyption deites, the thor movies will give a good reference for some of the mythos and deities from the norse pantheon. I'd still say read up on them as movies and shows will always alter characters to fit the plot

☄️Astrology starter pack - Master post🔱

This post contains useful information about astrology. It can be used for both beginners and more advanced people who wants to look over the basics. This is Astrology 101. It’ll help you get started out with astrology, and will provide you with basic knowledge, tips, pictures, help, and useful links.
If you’re wondering about anything, feel free to ask me, and I’ll answer!
Tip! If you’re wondering about anything, ask an astroblog. I’ll link my favourites down below. Don’t ask them to read your whole birthchart or to explain everything (unless they say they can) but ask them specific questions. And remember to shower them in the love and gratitude they deserve.
Why should you look into astrology?
Astrology can help you through anything in life. It can answer all your questions. It can help guide you. Exactly at the time you were born, all the planets and stars where lined up. And they all sent universal energy to you. Astrology and your birthchart is the blueprints you were born with. Your chart is the pavement, and the ground you stand on. The machine you were built into. It is the potential and the possibilities you have. What you chose to do with it is up to you. Which flowers you plant in the ground is your choice. How you’ll upgrade your machine is up to you.
How to start:
If you’re interested in astrology. First, you need to find out your chart. And for that, you need your birth date, place, and time. If you don’t have the time, you won’t have the possibility to look as deep into it as you might want to, but it’s better than nothing!
Here are some places you can calculate your birth chart. The first one is the most accurate.
The recommended one.
This is another one that works.
What does my chart mean?
Now that you have your chart. Make sure you have your chart drawing, a list of which Signs and degrees your Planets are in, a list of which Houses your Planets and Signs are, and a list of your aspects.
This is a link to where you can put in your birth info, and then click on the symbols in it for an explaination! It is very newbeginner-friendly!
Here is Marilyn Monroe’s chart which I made at astro.com:
Picture 1:

Picture 2:

In picture nr. 1 is her: Natal chart drawing, planets in the signs, degrees (exmample Sun 10 degrees Gemini. The degree is between the Planet and the Sign), the aspects, and the houses. But I reccommend looking for your houses in picture 2 instead with the tables. It’s easier to understand.
In order to recreate picture nr. 2 with all the tabels and details, click on:

This is what the symbols mean:

Connections and similarities:
Aries - Mars - 1st house
Taurus - Venus - 2nd house
Gemini - Mercury - 3rd house
Cancer - Moon - 4th house
Leo - Sun - 5th house
Virgo - Mercury - 6th house
Libra - Venus - 7th house
Scorpio - Pluto - 8th house
Sagittarius - Jupiter - 9th house
Capricorn - Saturn - 10th house
Aquarius - Uranus - 11th house
Pisces - Neptune - 12th house
Planets and Signs:
Planets represents what. Signs are why and who.
This link explains Planets in the Signs, and Planets in the Houses.
Sun is the ego, the pride, the glory.
Moon is the emotions, the feelings, the intuitive.
Mercury the intellect, the communication, and research.
Venus is love, art, beauty, sharing, relationships.

What to do next:
If you’ve done all this now, I recommend looking into your minor aspects too.
Find out if there’s anything unusual about your chart. Any stelliums or interceptions. Stelliums are when there are 3-4 or more Planets in a House or Sign. Interceptions are when a Sign is enclosed within a house. When it jumps over that Sign at the list of Signs in the Houses.
Now that you know the basics, you can go ahead and continue to explore the astro-world! Find out more about your chart, look at other peoples’ charts, try synastry, vedic, vertex, draconic, persona charts, etc. Now that you have a solid footing, the rest is a lot easier. Let the inner curiousity for knowledge lead you into new areas of deeper and more interesting astrology!

writing-prompt-s:
Valhalla does not discriminate against the kind of fight you lost. Did you lose the battle with cancer? Maybe you died in a fist fight. Even facing addiction. After taking a deep drink from his flagon, Odin slams his cup down and asks for the glorious tale of your demise!
Oh my god, this is beautiful.
A small child enters Valhalla. The battle they lost was “hiding from an alcoholic father.” Odin sees the flinch when he slams the cup and refrains from doing it again. He hears the child’s pain; no glorious battle this, but one of fear and wretched survival.
He invites the child to sit with him, offers the choicest mead and instructs his men to bring a sword and shield, a bow and arrow, of the very best materials and appropriate size. “Here,” he says, “you will find no man who dares to harm you. But so you will know your own strength, and be happy all your days in Valhalla, I will teach you to use these weapons.”
The sad day comes when another child enters the hall. Odin does not slam his cup; he simply beams with pride as the first child approaches the newcomer, and holds out her bow and quiver, and says “nobody here will hurt you. Everyone will be so proud you did your best, and I’ll teach you to use these, so you always know how strong you are.”
————
A young man enters the hall. He hesitates when Odin asks his story, but at long last, it ekes out: skinheads after the Pride parade. His partner got into a building and called for help. The police took a little longer than perhaps they really needed to, and two of those selfsame skinheads are in the hospital now with broken bones that need setting, but six against one is no fair match. The fear in his face is obvious: here, among men large enough to break him in two, will he face an eternity of torment for the man he left behind?
Odin rumbles with anger. Curses the low worms who brought this man to his table, and regales him with tales of Loki so to show him his own welcome. “A day will come, my friend, when you seek to be reunited, and so you shall,” Odin tells him. “To request the aid of your comrades in battle is no shameful thing.”
———-
A woman in pink sits near the head of the table. She’s very nearly skin and bones, and has no hair. This will not last; health returns in Valhalla, and joy, and light, and merrymaking. But now her soul remembers the battle of her life, and it must heal.
Odin asks.
And asks again.
And the words pour out like poisoned water, things she couldn’t tell her husband or children. The pain of chemotherapy. The agony of a mastectomy, the pain still deeper of “we found a tumor in your lymph nodes. I’m so sorry.” And at last, the tortured question: what is left of her?
Odin raises his flagon high. “What is left of you, fair warrior queen, is a spirit bright as fire; a will as strong as any forged iron; a life as great as any sea. Your battle was hard-fought, and lost in the glory only such furor can bring, and now the pain and fight are behind you.“
In the months to come, she becomes a scop of the hall–no demotion, but simple choice. She tells the stories of the great healers, Agnes and Tanya, who fought alongside her and thousands of others, who turn from no battle in the belief that one day, one day, the war may be won; the warriors Jessie and Mabel and Jeri and Monique, still battling on; the queens and soldiers and great women of yore.
The day comes when she calls a familiar name, and another small, scarred woman, eyes sunken and dark, limbs frail, curly black hair shaved close to her head, looks up and sees her across the hall. Odin descends from his throne, a tall and foaming goblet in his hands, and stuns the hall entire into silence as he kneels before the newcomer and holds up the goblet between her small dark hands and bids her to drink.
“All-Father!” the feasting multitudes cry. “What brings great Odin, Spear-Shaker, Ancient One, Wand-Bearer, Teacher of Gods, to his knees for this lone waif?”
He waves them off with a hand.
“This woman, LaTeesha, Destroyer of Cancer, from whom the great tumors fly in fear, has fought that greatest battle,” he says, his voice rolling across the hall. “She has fought not another body, but her own; traded blows not with other limbs but with her own flesh; has allowed herself to be pierced with needles and scored with knives, taken poison into her very veins to defeat this enemy, and at long last it is time for her to put her weapons down. Do you think for a moment this fight is less glorious for being in silence, her deeds the less for having been aided by others who provided her weapons? She has a place in this great hall; indeed, the highest place.”
And the children perform feats of archery for the entertainment of all, and the women sing as the young man who still awaits his beloved plays a lute–which, after all, is not so different from the guitar he once used to break a man’s face in that great final fight.
Valhalla is a place of joy, of glory, of great feasting and merrymaking.
And it is a place for the soul and mind to heal.
