Also, if you haven’t heard from @degurechaff-tanya or somewhere else, Carlo Zen released a new manga today called Baikoku Kikan. Similar in the sense that it’s about a mentally twisted lady in war. I have yet to find any English translation yet, but there is a raw Japanese form of the first chapter up

I really liked this chapter in particular. I think mostly cuz it doesn’t focus on combat or missions, but politics, exposition, and story. These chapters I think are the core of what Youjo Senki is. A focus on not only Tanya’s views and how she operates, but also how the world around her affects her and how she affects it. This is really the only series in which I really like the calm and story based sections. And because these chapters are rather common, it makes the combat chapters pop out and feel exciting. There’s weight to all the fights. It’s kinda like Lucky Charms, except the brown bits are actually tasty. Now, I’m no war expert and I won’t pretend to be. I only know what I know from education which I occasionally sleep through and stuff that interests me which I look up. But I will say that I really like how this series handles war. Some series which I’ve seen just use war as an excuse for action scenes, which is of course a valid option. But this series goes about war as a slow, dragged out collection of planning logistics, training and politics. So basically like it a lot.
