I am sick of the men. Just one time, just once, I would like to accomplish something in this city without having to spend all of my energy navigating the shortsighted, selfish, self-involved, and oh-so-fragile male egos that suck up all the oxygen in this town. It makes me so sick, Douglas, so sick I could puke for days.
I’m running for president.

Those three words were not necessarily planned, but it felt like the right time. Jack deserved to know exactly how much he meant to Joseph. He held no regret for what he said, not even when the kisses come to a stop. Eyes immediately locking on the other as he looked up at him with nothing more than love in his eyes. How did he ever become this lucky?
And as if the situation couldnt possibly get any better, he heard those very same words said back to him. The corners of his lips tug into a bright smile. Saying those words to the man he was in love with was one thing, but to hear them said in return? There were absolutely no words to help explain exactly how it made him felt.
That’s part of the reason why he moves a hand to rest on the back of Jack’s neck, pulling him in for a kiss. Their lips always did fit perfectly together. He smiles into the kiss as the mere thought graces his mind, only pulling away when it was absolutely necessary to breathe. “When – when should I expect my first day?”
Wait. What? That was the first time Joseph said those words to him and they came out so effortlessly that there was no room for doubt. It shocked Jack to the point where he stopped kissing his boyfriend and just stared down at him. No one had ever spoken those words to him before - not even his mother, definitely not his father. And Joseph did.
Joseph of all people. The man he was demanding so much from, asking him to keep this all a secret, hiding him from the world, keeping him from a normal life for his own selfish reason.
“I love you too.” That was Jack’s selfish reason. He loved Joseph but he knew that they could never be together publicly and he’d keep him his secret for as long as he could because the idea of a life without Joseph in it wasn’t a life Jack wanted for himself. “I love you more than you know, my prince.”

Joseph didn’t really know how to answer Jack’s first question. He had honestly believed it was something that the man said to each of the guys that were brought up here to the VIP room, but maybe that wasn’t the case. Assuming it was a fairly decent list. But again, maybe he was wrong. Well, either way, he certainly wasn’t anticipating the next question that leaves his lips, forcing the other to take a double take.
“Are you asking me out on a date?” Even when Joseph asked the question he couldn’t believe what he was hearing. The Pri – no, not the prince. Jack Benjamin was possibly asking him out on a date. Although it didn’t take him long at all to come to a decision, he does fall silent for at least a few seconds. “Yeah, I’d like that.” And now he cannot help the smile that plays across his features.
The truth was that the number of boys Jack brought back with him was limited. Not everyone turned out to be good company. Not everyone could be trusted. So no, Jack wasn’t lying. Out of the few men he’d brought up here, Joseph was the cutest and definitely the nicest and he’d only talked to him for about five minutes.
Jack set his drink down before turning in his seat to face Jack. “How do I prove it to you?” He wanted to kiss him. He did. But the only thing that would prove was that he wanted to hook up with him but Jack figured that was made obvious earlier on in their encounter. “Will you go out with me tomorrow?”

The grin does not go unnoticed by Joseph. If anything, he had been expecting it. He knows how his boyfriend normally gets whenever he’s referred to by his military title. So the fact that he may have said it for the teasing factor was certainly not out of the question. And he was far from being disappointed with the brunet’s reaction. Nevertheless, he’s forced to remove his own smile from his face as soon as a woman approaches them. One that he assumes works for the royal family.
Situations such as this was what Joseph needed to be careful of. No matter how much he wanted to speak up. To hold his boyfriend’s hand he couldn’t. It would ruin Jack more than anything else. So he’s learned to adjust to keeping them a secret.
He gives a small nod to her before following Jack in the direction of where he believed his bedroom to be located. “You’re a good man, Jack.” As if the words really needed to be said, but he felt as though he probably never heard them from his family. So Joseph took it upon himself to speak the truth.
Not many would turn down the opportunity to dine with royalty – even when said royalty was family – just so they could dine with the men he fought on the battlefield with every day.
Joseph had not fallen in love with the Prince of Gilboa. Not even Major Benjamin. He had fallen in love with the man that was Jack Benjamin.
Jack was different when Joseph was near him and anyone that knew Jack would be able to tell. He was happy, smiling a lot more and he didn’t seem as tense and rigid as he usually was. Anyone that said Joseph was bad for him was wrong. Joseph brought out the best in Jack Benjamin. Jack wanted to be better for Joseph.
Then Joseph referred to him as Major and he couldn’t help the grin. Somehow whenever Joseph referred to him by his military title, it sounded… teasing? sexual? It was Jack’s fault though for making Joseph call him that sometimes during intercourse and now… every single time… it made him horny.
As they were headed out the door, Jack was stopped by Thomasina. “You’re to be seated for dinner in thirty minutes. May I ask where you are going?”
“He wants to see the room where all the decisions regarding Gilboa are made. He’s earned it.” Jack held his ground, looking the dragon in the eyes. “We’ll be back before then.”
“Jack, your mother requests that you dine at their table tonight.”
Jack shook his head. “I’m not here as Prince of Gilboa tonight. I came in the company of my men and I’ll dine as a soldier, not the future king. Inform my mother.”
With that, Jack led the way out of the room and up the stairs.

Reblog this post if you do not mind long RP responses.
It’s come to my attention that I am fully capable of getting really carried away when it comes to typing out RP replies, so I wanted to see how many people are totally okay with receiving long responses on threads. Personally, I’m completely okay with it because it makes for a fun challenge when thinking up a reply. But what about you guys? Are you comfortable with long replies?

The initial plan was to wait for Jack to return before he ordered his first drink of the evening. However, a few minutes later the male eventually caved. It was only about five minutes later – after he was hand delivered said drink – that Jack arrived. He gave a slight shrug of his shoulders in response, about ready to respond before he’s met with the question regarding his bedroom. “I can’t say I have.” Not that he didn’t want to. In fact, it was anything but. At least there they wouldn’t have to pretend that they were nothing more than major and soldier. They could be themselves.
It doesn’t take long for Joseph to down the remainder of his drink, sitting the empty glass on the counter. “Lead the way, Major.” It didn’t take long at all for him to grow accustomed to referring to his boyfriend by that title.
Well, Jack managed to make it inside but he’d yet to make his way towards the bar. He’d been stopped by his father, and pulled aside, to meet some visitors from some other countries in his character as Prince of Gilboa. Small talk, questions about his military career. They even asked questions about how he planned to rule when his turn came. That was the part his father wasn’t interested in hearing and that was his cue to excuse Jack.
He was late when he showed up to the bar and Joseph was already nursing a drink. “I thought you were going to wait for me.” He was joking, of course. He didn’t mind. “You’ve never sen my bedroom here, have you?” Joseph had never stepped into the King’s home before but it’d be odd to give one soldier a whole tour. Jack didn’t see a problem with sneaking him up to his bedroom before the formal dinner. “Come on.”

“I think I already caught onto that.” Joseph quickly adds in with a smile, but it doesn’t take long for him to fall silent, however. Occasionally nodding his head whenever it seemed appropriate. He wanted to make sure that Jack knew that he was listening to every single word. The male truly wanted to know Jack. The real Jack. The ne that the general public wasn’t all that familiar with. And when he began giving him details? Well, he seemed just like most people. He was an older brother with a sister. Maybe he wasn’t so different after all.
“Are you sure that’s not just something you say to all the cute boys you bring up here?” Joseph just found it hard to believe that it would only be him. What was so special about him? Though he also cannot help but hope that his words are true.
“Well, I’m gay so you already know more about me than my own family.” He was joking, of course, that’s not what Joseph here wanted to know. “I’m an older brother. I’m a pain in the ass to my sister but I take care of her. My parents drive me crazy.” Like every other kid in the world. “I wanted to go to college, business school, but my dad thinks…” Well, that would mean bringing up the crown so - “My dad wanted me to join the military instead. I started as a front line soldier and worked my way up.” No, the title wasn’t handed over to him. He worked for it. He wanted his people, and the military, to respect him. “I can’t dance. I like to drink. And I like taking cute boys up to VIP rooms.” There was a mischievous grin on his face when he said that. “But you’re the cutest.”

“I don’t know.” Joseph momentarily pauses in his train of thought as Jack manages to switch their positions so he’s now looking up at his boyfriend. “Is that what you want, major?” He bites down on his bottom lip gently as soon as the words leave his lips, deciding to play along. Jack was the one to bring it up after all. Major Benjamin. It was a title he was sure he could get used to calling him.
The kisses placed along his neck and face are definitely encouraged. Joseph could certainly grow accustomed to waking up like this every morning of every day. But even he knew that was pushing his luck. He couldn’t be completely selfish. Not when their relationship was still very much a secret.
Hands slowly move to rest on the other’s back, lazily tracing small designs along his smooth skin. “I love you, Jack.” And he did. Very much so.
“I’m not encouraging you either way. If you choose to enlist, I promise to take care of you and if you choose not to, I’m still going to come home to you. It’s just an option to spend more time together.” That’s all Jack wanted, really. He’d fallen head over heels with this guy. He thought about him all the time and he looked forward to every second he could spend with him. Hell, for the past month or so, Jack hadn’t even looked at another guy and he drew the line at kissing girls and that was for show.
Jack rolled his eyes at Joseph’s comment/question. As if Jack could ever get tired of Joseph. Joseph was the best thing that happened to him. Lately he was the only person that could make him smile and laugh and the only time Jack was happy was when he was in that small, far from luxurious apartment, with that man laying on top of him.
“So… does this mean you’re going to call me major now when we go at it?” He joked, rolling them over so that he was on top of Joseph and he began to place little kisses along his neck and face.

Joseph is about ready to open the car door so he can assist Jack with getting out. They needed to play their roles accordingly, but apparently Jack had other ideas in mind. He’s surprised to watch as the brunet gets out of the car on his own with absolutely no help from his soldier. Although they didn’t necessarily mention it was part of the plan, he assumed it was a given as to not draw any unwanted attention. Hopefully the pair would be lucky enough that no one noticed or caught on. Slowly, he climbs out of the car shortly after, closing the door in the process.
A small nod is given while listening as the other whispers in his ear. “I’ll see you soon.” Joseph spares one last glance to Jack before making his way up the stairs leading to the two main doors leading inside. It didn’t feel right to not have Jack by his side when he arrived. But he’d have to manage. He didn’t have another choice in the matter. Following the plan, he meets up with the rest of the squad, managing to catch a quick glimpse of Jack when he walked in.
The male remains with the squad for a few minutes before excusing himself to grab a drink from the open bar. Hoping that by some chance he timed it perfectly and Jack would swing by any second.
The car came to a stop and Jack took a deep breath, glancing out the window. It’d be Joseph who had to get out first to open the door for his superior and Jack absolutely hated that. He’d never seen, or treated, Joseph as anything less than an equal unless he was giving military orders and having him open the door for him felt wrong. This was the man he wanted to rule alongside him, he shouldn’t be opening doors. So the first red flag went up the second Prince Jack Benjamin opened his own damned door and got out of the car.
He waited for Joseph to get out and then leaned in to whisper in his ear, “You walk inside first and meet up with the rest of the squad. I have to stop and talk to people.” Smile, pose, answer questions, all this before stepping into the real job for the night. “I’ll meet up with you at the bar after it’s all over.”
