After appearing on The Hills in 2006, reality TV fans quickly fell in love with Whitney Port’s bright personality and trendy clothes. In fact, they loved her so much that in 2008, she was given her own show, The City, which ran from 2008 until 2010. Now, 15 years later, Port is ready to open up about her time on the show, including what really happened between her and her husband. Read on for more.  Whitney Port reflects on her time on ‘The Hills’  The Hills was an MTV reality show that ran from 2006 until 2008. It followed Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, Kristin Cavallari, Lo Bosworth, Audrina Patridge, Stephanie Pratt and Port as they tried to make it both personally and professionally in Los Angeles.  “That show was so pivotal for me and for the most part, I have nothing but really fun memories and thoughts about it,” Port, age 40, told First for Women. “I’m so grateful that I was given the opportunity to show my fashion career on TV, and then be able to launch a clothing line. It’s all because of The Hills.”  Whitney Port in 2006 Amy Graves/WireImage/Getty “There’s certain weird feelings about getting on TV at 20, and growing up on it, but for the most part, it is one of the better things career-wise that has ever happened to me.”  The mother of one also revealed that it was actually her interest in fashion that landed her a role on the show in the first place.  “I was interviewing for a job at Teen Vogue, and all of a sudden MTV was calling me, saying they were filming a show at Teen Vogue,” Port said.  Entertainment RHONY’s Heather Thomson Spills on Wellness and Staying Connected Former The Real Housewives of New York (RHONY) star Heather Thomson might have left reality television behind, but her time in the spotlight has far from diminished. Nowadays, the former TV personality can be found hosting the podcast Health Harmony & Heather and travel retreats, while finding new ways to evolve her health and wellness […] Whitney Port opens up about her husband  Port and her husband, Tim Rosenman, have been married since 2015, and they actually met on the set of her 2008 reality show The City.  “I had met him in New York previously through a friend, but through this same friend, he got a job on The City as a producer. We got really close while he was on the show, but we didn’t get together until after the show was over,” she explained. “I think it was one of the things that made me feel super close to him. There were not a lot of people who knew what it felt like to be in that reality TV world all that time. And so for me, I felt so safe. He really knew what my life was and knew what came with it, and wasn’t bothered by it. And so that was always a huge anchor in our relationship.” Whitney Port and Tim Rosenman in 2016 Michael Kovac/Getty for Moet and Chandon Now, 15 years later, Port and Rosenman love to look back at their time on the show. They even started a YouTube Channel dedicated to rewatching The Hills, The City and other reality TV shows.  “It was such a blast to re-watch all that because I really hadn’t watched it in so long, and it made me even more grateful for my experiences,” Port exclaimed. “I was able to do and see people, I was able to meet people and it was just a really cool time. I think sometimes when you’re in it, you can’t see it as much, but now I have perspective on it.”  Entertainment ‘Bravo’s Love Hotel’: Luann and Other Stars Share What Shocked Them Most Ask any reality TV fan and they’ll tell you they’re obsessed with dating shows, The Real Housewives, or — if they’re lucky — both. That’s exactly what Bravo has delivered with its newest series, Bravo’s Love Hotel — a romantic reality experiment that sends four familiar Housewives to Mexico in search of eligible bachelors. Airing […] The mother of one shares her parenting secrets  After a long battle with infertility, surrogacy, IVF and two miscarriages, Port and Rosenman finally welcomed son Sonny Sanford Rosenman, 7, into the world in July 2017.  “Life as a mom is so great and it just keeps getting better and better,” the reality TV star exclaimed. “Honestly, for me, the baby phase was hard. I feel like it didn’t come as naturally to me to be a mom to a baby, and now that I have a little kid, it is just so special to be able to have real conversations with him, learn who he is as a person and help shape him into the best that he can be. It’s really such a pleasure having a seven-year-old who’s just so fun and curious and still wants to cuddle and love on me, and so I’m trying to soak up every second.”  Whitney Port in 2025 Rodin Eckenroth/Getty One way Port is doing this is by feeling safe about what her son will eventually look at online when he’s older, which she says Meta’s new Instagram Teen Accounts are helping with.  “For me as a parent, living in an age with so much new technology every day, it makes me feel so safe and so heard, knowing that Meta is taking so many different things into account,” Port said. “As a parent, you have to make so many decisions. With technology, it’s just another thing I feel I need to be versed in and it’s just so nice that Meta actually cares about that. They’re taking into account the safety of our children. It makes me want to allow Sonny to use the platform when he’s of age and not be so scared of it.”  Hill lives in Los Angeles and, like the rest of us, is ready for summer so she can get into “that head space of slowing down and savoring all the moments life has.”  For more FIRST exclusives, keep scrolling! ‘The Bachelor’s’ Grant Ellis on His Season Finale: It’s ‘Eye-Opening’ (EXCLUSIVE) Tamsen Fadal Talks Maximizing Midlife by Finding the Upsides of Menopause (EXCLUSIVE) Tatyana Ali on the Truth About Her Relationship with Will Smith and That Viral Dance (EXCLUSIVE) Source link

Florence Pugh made headlines at the London photocall and premiere of her new superhero movie Thunderbolts* with two daring ensembles that showcased her signature sexy and edgy style. Known for pushing fashion boundaries and injecting an edgy touch into the typical red carpet fashion scene, Pugh never fails to capture attention with her bold and revealing outfits, demonstrating her fearlessness in making a statement on the red carpet. Florence Pugh sizzles in revealing black gowns by Francesco Murano and Elie Saab at the Thunderbolts* photocall and premiere in London (Credit: James Manning / PA Images / Nils Jorgensen / INSTARimages) Pugh is reprising her role as highly trained spy and extremely skilled assassin Yelena Belova in Thunderbolts*, the 36th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her character first appeared in Black Widow (2021) and later in the Disney+ series Hawkeye. Thunderbolts*, under the direction of Jake Schreier, follows an unlikely group of antiheroes compelled to unite and work together after falling into a dangerous trap set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. It’s scheduled to be released in the US on May 2. Florence Pugh reprises her role as Yelena Belova in Thunderbolts* (Credit: Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures), Strutting the red carpet with confidence and grace, Pugh channeled her inner assassin in sleek black dresses. From her sheer Elie Saab gown to her barely there leather dress, Pugh had a presence that could not be ignored. Sizzling in Francesco Murano Leather Bralette, Midi Skirt, and Christian Louboutin Pumps Florence sizzled in a two-piece black leather ensemble from Francesco Murano’s Spring 2025 collection, making an impression at the Thunderbolts* photocall held at the Corinthia Hotel. Her captivating outfit exemplifies Murano’s innovative use of materials and knack for mixing art and fashion. It features a tiny black leather bralette that appears incredibly tight against her chest, accented with a subtle corsetry that cinches things up. The sturdy shoulder straps are the perfect finishing touch to keep things in place. Demi paired it with a matching leather pencil skirt that fit her like a second skin. The skirt features a high waist to enhance her figure, with boning details extending to her hips, adding even more structure and definition. Despite my reservations about the ensemble’s fit, I must admit her appearance is hard to resist. I love how the convex hem of the bralette and the concave waist of the skirt create a sensuous cutout around Florence’s stomach. The skirt also has a thigh-high slit on one side, adding to the allure of the ensemble. Florence Pugh showcases her midriff and figure in a black leather bralette and midi skirt with boning details from Francesco Murano at The Corinthia Hotel on April 24, 2025, in London, England (Credit: James Manning / PA Images / INSTARimages) Florence looks fierce in her leather outfit, accentuated by her slicked-back wet-look hairstyle. Her makeup is flawlessly executed, featuring eyeliner, mascara, and bold lipstick that complement her overall appearance. Pugh gave her stunning, sultry look just the right amount of sparkle, accessorizing with diamonds by Engelbert. These elegant and glittering diamonds added a glitzy touch to her appearance, elevating her style while showcasing her glamorous fashion sense. She wore the $12,400 Absolute Creoles hoop earrings, crafted in 18k white gold with 1.98 carats of rare white brilliant-cut diamonds, and the $24,600 Infinity Loop Earrings, which feature an innovative take on the infinity sign. These are crafted in 18k white gold and set with 4.40 carats of rare white brilliant-cut diamonds. On her manicured fingers are matching white gold and diamond rings, including the $3,900 Infinity Loop Ring, the $6,000 Cross Loop Ring, and the Legacy Knot Ring. I love how these carefully selected accessories complement her gown; their subtle sheen contrasts beautifully with the dark tone of her outfit. Florence Pugh adds sparkles to her all-black look with Engelbert jewelry, wearing chunky hoops and rings with diamonds (Credit: James Manning / PA Images / INSTARimages) A pair of Christian Louboutin “Iriza” d’Orsay pumps in classic black leather complemented Florence Pugh’s all-black, elegant ensemble. While I appreciate the sleek and sophisticated look of her pumps, I wish for something a bit more playful to provide contrast to her otherwise chic ensemble. Regardless, the pumps’ sharp, pointed silhouette, side cutout, and shiny leather material perfectly matched her sleek outfit, creating a cohesive aesthetic. Florence Pugh completes her sleek black look with black leather d’Orsay pumps by Christian Louboutin (Credit: James Manning / PA Images / INSTARimages) These pumps instantly boosted Florence’s 5ft 2 ¾ (159.4 cm) height with their elegant, tall heels. You can get them for $795 at Mytheresa. Other stylish celebrities who have also embraced Christian Louboutin’s iconic Iriza pumps include Anne Hathaway, who paired patent leather Iriza heels with a black Christopher Kane lace dress, Emmy Rossum, who styled pink Iriza pumps with a floral Oscar de la Renta dress, and Kylie Minogue, who added a bold twist to her look with animal print Iriza pumps. Gothic Chic in Elie Saab Lace Gown and Rene Caovilla Heels Florence Pugh’s look for the London premiere of Thunderbolts* was a masterpiece of romance infused with gothic elegance. She chose a gorgeous black lace dress from Elie Saab’s Fall 2024 Couture collection. The romantic gothic gown is gorgeous, blending the allure of seductive lingerie with the elegance of a red-carpet ball gown. This fusion reflects Pugh’s penchant for sexy and elegant looks. It’s cut from a see-through sheer fabric, creating the illusion of a sultry yet almost ethereal effect. The gown’s intricate details show the meticulous crafting of Elie Saab’s artistry. Floral embroidery cascades from the torso to the voluminous floor-sweeping skirt, while strategically arranged beaded 3D black flowers provide enough coverage to make the look sophisticated. The bodice also features horizontal striped panels, showing Florence’s stomach. It’s perfectly fitted, with a plunging sweetheart neckline and spaghetti straps that enhance the dress’s sensuality. I like how the bodice embraces her curves in all the right places before cascading to a sheer skirt that flares out gracefully at the sides, creating a voluminous train that trails behind her. Florence Pugh embraces gothic chic in a black lace gown with beaded 3D black flowers by Elie Saab at the Thunderbolts* London premiere at Cineworld Leicester Square on April 22, 2025 (Credit: Nils Jorgensen / INSTARimages) Pugh’s punk-style brushed-up hair and neon orange eyeshadow contrasted with the romantic, high-fashion dress. Her theatrical makeup made a statement, and her wet-style hair added an edgy touch to her look. She further injected her edgy aesthetic into the look with gold and black diamond jewelry from Brazilian jeweler Ara Vartanian. She wore three Inverted Black Diamond Earrings, an 18k Gold two-finger ring with Black Diamonds, an Inverted Black Diamond Bracelet, and a White Gold and Rose Gold Bracelet with Garnet, Brown Diamond, and Black Diamonds. These elements, together with the dress, combined to produce an ensemble that was equal parts edgy and romantic, perfectly capturing Pugh’s unique sense of style. Florence Pugh adds punk elements to her romantic lace gown with Ara Vartanian gold and black diamonds, a brushed back hairstyle, and a neon orange eyeshadow (Credit: Cover Images) Florence’s heels almost blended in with the intricate details of her gown, but they stood out just enough to make a statement. She wore the Rene Caovilla “Juniper” sandals, the reimagined version of the label’s iconic Cleo style. They feature Rene Caovilla’s signature coiled snake ankle-wrap straps, this time in shiny, ridged leather with a statement crystal on the snake head, adding a touch of glitz to the shoe. They also feature a slender strap across the toes and feet, along with a 4-inch stiletto heel, which enhances their elegance. Her shoes are available for $1,520 at Neiman Marcus. Florence Pugh highlights her mint green pedicure in René Caovilla’s Juniper snake sandals, crafted from ridged leather with coiled ankle-wrap straps (Credit: Nils Jorgensen / INSTARimages) Other stylish celebrities who have rocked snake-inspired sandals on glamorous red carpets include Gal Gadot in a waterfall-blue Elie Saab gown with René Caovilla ‘Snake’ sandals, Bella Hadid in a red Christian Dior gown with custom silver snake gladiator sandals, and Keke Palmer in a cream Cong Tri mini dress with rhinestone-embellished ‘Cleo’ sandals. For years, I was recklessly immune to the power of the pocket tee. It’s a tee…with a pocket, I scoffed to less skeptical colleagues. Big whoop. Well, I guess my immunity wasn’t nearly as strong as I thought, because J.Crew’s perfectly lived-in riff was just the shock my system needed. Few tees I’ve tried look as righteous with the hallmarks of the brand’s glorious catalog heyday—rumpled poplin button-ups, roomy cotton chinos, weathered crewneck knits—and even fewer boast the ability to store, like, half a pack of gum or a cooked Elf Bar while they do it. There are far worse pockets to be in.Louis Cheslaw, Contributing Commerce Editor: CDLP Heavyweight T-ShirtMaterial: 67% Tencel lyocell, 33% pima cotton | Fit: Classic | Sizes: XS-XXLI've had my same CDLP T-shirt for what must be four years now, and continue to be mystified at how soft and silky it feels. Not that the mystery is that tough to solve: CDLP fuses a positively sporty Tencel Lyocell fabric into this piece, along with soft Pima cotton, for a result that just feels lux as hell. I'm also happy to report—especially given the price—that there are no armpit stains at all, an essential consideration with any white tee especially.Tyler Austin, Assistant Fashion Editor: Calvin Klein Cotton Stretch TeeCalvin KleinCotton Stretch Tee (3-Pack)Material: 95% Cotton, 5% Spandex | Fit: Classic | Sizes: S-XXLI hate that undershirts and regular T-shirts are often separated, so I love when a tee can do both. They need to be light enough to layer under other tops but fit well enough to work on its own. The best tee I’ve found comes from none other than Calvin Klein. The brand’s Cotton Stretch tee is super thin and truly breathable. It's the perfect shirt to layer under a nice sweater or even as a stand alone on a warm summer day. Definitely my go to T-shirt these days.Tyler Chin, Associate Commerce Editor: Sunspel Classic T-ShirtMaterial: 100% Supima cotton | Fit: Classic | Sizes: XXS-3XLSunspel’s tees are a thing of wonder—mostly because people wonder why anyone would spend $90 on a goddamn T-shirt. Well friends, I’d gladly spend nearly a Benjamin on a tee that I feel might genuinely be perfect. For one, Sunspel’s tees are made from extra-long staple Supima cotton, which is about as premium as you can get from the fabric of our lives. It’s super soft, which makes it feel like a dream to wear all day. It sort of fits like the white tees of yore, where James Dean’s or Marlon Brando’s biceps would be hulking through the sleeves—fitted but not snug. And its dainty little collar just adds to the tee’s overall preciousness, which is why I’ve finally started separating my lights from my darks in the laundry.More White T-Shirts We LoveKirklandSignature Crew Neck Tee (6-pack)Not the best deal at Costco—that honor would go to the $1.50 hot dog and drink combo—but close. Kirkland’s tees are cut long and roomy from stout and soft combed cotton. They’re hardy enough to stand up to all manner of summer activities: hiking, tennis, lying horizontal on the couch and watching TikToks for hours. —Yang-Yi GohImogene + WilliePocket TeeI love an oversized tee as much as the next guy, but for white tees specifically, I prefer a form-fitting silhouette. Most days, I’m reaching for Imogene + Willie’s pocket tee, which has an ideal vintage-inspired fit (high arm holes, short sleeves). It’s cut pretty slim, so I recommend sizing up. —Michael Nolledo

Creating a wardrobe that strikes the perfect balance between bold and beautiful is all about blending confidence with creativity. While trends may come and go, your personal style should always reflect what makes you feel powerful, expressive, and authentically you. Often, the most unforgettable looks come from stepping just beyond the expected—mixing soft elegance with daring, eye-catching pieces. That subtle disruption of balance is where the magic happens. Whether you’re dressing for the everyday or curating something more elevated, learning to navigate the space between bold and beautiful gives your style more power and more personality. It’s not about always making a statement or playing it safe. It’s about mastering the art of when to turn up the volume and when to let quiet confidence lead. Here are 14 ways to balance bold and beautiful through your fashion choices… #1. Start with your go-to silhouettes Photo: @ritadominic/Instagram Before diving into bold pieces, it’s helpful to start with what makes you feel confident, specifically, the cuts and shapes that flatter you most. Maybe it’s high-waisted trousers, a sharply tailored blazer, or a midi skirt that moves just right. These familiar silhouettes become your style foundation, giving you a steady base to build on. Once you know what works, experimenting with bold prints, rich textures, or standout accessories feels less like a risk and more like a creative extension of your personal style. #2. Use one bold piece to anchor your look Not every outfit needs to shout for attention, but introducing a single bold piece can transform both your energy and your confidence. Whether it’s a printed jacket, vibrant trousers, or statement shoes, these eye-catching elements make a strong impact. Pair them with simple, well-fitted basics to let the bold piece stand out without overwhelming the entire look or clashing with other wardrobe staples. By focusing on one striking element, you maintain a balanced yet interesting outfit that radiates personality. This approach also allows you to experiment with bold styles gradually, so you don’t have to completely overhaul your wardrobe or dive in headfirst. #3. Mix delicate pieces with structured ones Photo: @farhanabodi/Instagram Blending softness with strength is one of the most effective ways to create a look that feels both bold and beautiful. Think of a flowing dress layered under a boxy jacket, a silk blouse tucked into cargo trousers, or soft knitwear paired with tailored shorts—each combination strikes the perfect balance. These pairings allow you to experiment with proportions and textures while maintaining a sense of femininity and power. By mixing softness with structure, you not only showcase confidence in your style but also embrace the freedom to explore both sides of the fashion spectrum. #4. Add interest through texture Texture is an effortless way to make your wardrobe feel dynamic, without relying solely on bold prints or bright colors. By mixing fabrics like denim, satin, velvet, and leather, you can create a layered effect that feels rich and thoughtfully styled. Some simple ways to play with texture include: Pairing denim with lace or satin for a chic day-to-night transition. Layering knits over crisp cotton for an extra dimension. Combining faux leather trousers with a flowy chiffon top for an intriguing contrast. This mix of textures adds depth to your outfit, catching the eye and giving even the simplest looks a polished, intentional feel. It’s a subtle yet impactful way to elevate your style and make it uniquely yours. #5. Style corset tops beyond the obvious Photo: Getty Images Corsets have made a major comeback in fashion, but they don’t have to follow the same old style rules. While they’re often associated with dressed-up, going-out looks, corsets can be surprisingly versatile when layered or paired with more casual staples. For a fresh streetwear vibe, try wearing corset tops over a simple T-shirt, or tuck one into wide-leg trousers for a polished, daytime look. You can even layer a corset over a button-up shirt to add shape and structure. When styled creatively, corsets become one of the most flexible pieces in your wardrobe—bold yet endlessly wearable, ready to elevate any outfit with just the right touch. #6. Work with color contrast, not just bright shades Bold doesn’t always have to mean neon or dramatic. Sometimes, it’s about pairing unexpected shades together, like soft lilac with mustard, forest green with powder pink, or navy with rust. When these colors create contrast, your look feels more intentional and expressive. To keep it balanced, limit the palette to two or three main colors—one can serve as the anchor while the others provide the contrast. Playing with color in this way infuses your outfit with energy while still keeping it wearable and cohesive. #7. Keep your base pieces simple and strong Photo: @jordynwoods/Instagram To balance out more daring pieces, you need strong basics that serve as versatile foundations. These are the items you can wear on repeat, always feeling fresh and functional, no matter how you style them. Essential base pieces to invest in include: Black trousers that fit like a dream. A crisp white button-up shirt. A structured blazer in a neutral shade. A plain, high-quality T-shirt or tank. A classic pair of boots or loafers. With these wardrobe staples, you can effortlessly introduce bold accents without overwhelming your outfit, keeping it stylish yet simple. #8. Layering is your best friend Layering opens up endless possibilities for experimenting with different styles, materials, and silhouettes, all within one outfit. It also allows you to easily adapt your look to the mood, weather, or occasion—no need for a completely new wardrobe. Some smart layering combinations to try: A longline vest over a fitted dress. A cropped knit over a flowing maxi skirt. A trench coat over tailored shorts and a blouse. These combinations create depth, movement, and structure, blending bold and beautiful elements effortlessly for a chic, versatile look. #9. Let accessories do the bold work Photo: @medlinboss/Instagram If your clothing is more understated, accessories are the perfect opportunity to make a bold statement. A chunky necklace, statement belt, oversized sunglasses, or patterned bag can instantly elevate a simple outfit. What’s great about bold accessories is their versatility. You can easily swap them in and out to change the vibe of your look without much effort. They offer a fun way to experiment with color, texture, and print, all without committing to a complete outfit overhaul. #10. Break up bold prints with solids Wearing bold prints can feel intimidating, especially when they cover your whole outfit or come in vibrant colors. A simple way to ease into prints is by pairing them with solid, neutral pieces that help tone things down. This approach allows the print to stand out without overwhelming your look or taking over the entire outfit. For example, style a printed skirt with a plain top, or pair patterned trousers with a sleek black blouse and minimal accessories. This creates a balanced, grounded look that feels daring yet wearable, making it easier to embrace bold prints without going overboard. #11. Blend feminine with utilitarian Photo: @_shainarene/Instagram A brilliant way to explore contrast is by blending feminine pieces with more practical or rugged ones. This unexpected combination adds a dynamic twist to your outfit, making your style feel both soft and strong. Consider trying out these combinations: A ruffled top paired with cargo trousers. A floral dress balanced by chunky boots. A slip skirt layered under a utility jacket. This approach keeps your look fresh, balanced, and full of surprises, often leading to the most stylish and memorable outfits. #12. Don’t forget the power of fit Even the boldest piece can fall flat if it doesn’t fit properly. On the other hand, a perfectly tailored garment can elevate even the simplest outfit. When creating a wardrobe that balances bold and beautiful, fit should always be at the forefront of your mind. Whether it’s having trousers hemmed or finding jackets that hug your figure in all the right places, small adjustments to fit can dramatically boost both your confidence and your style. Good tailoring adds that final touch of polish, especially when you’re mixing contrasting elements in your look. #13. Be intentional with layering prints Photo: @blaireadiebee/Instagram Mixing prints is undeniably bold, but when done with intention, it can create a truly stunning look. Start by choosing prints in similar color families or complementary scales to make them feel more cohesive and easier to style. To keep things balanced, pair a larger print with a smaller one, or mix a detailed pattern with a more graphic design. Let one print take the spotlight while the other supports it. It may take a little experimentation, but once you discover combinations that feel right, you’ll begin to see prints in a whole new light. #14. Let your personal style lead When it comes to balancing boldness with beauty, the key is staying true to what feels right for you. Style is deeply personal, and the most impactful outfits are those that reflect your creativity and confidence. That’s why curating a timeless wardrobe filled with pieces you truly love is so essential. Once you’ve established that foundation, adding bolder elements becomes effortless. You’re not reinventing the wheel each time; you’re simply building upon a style that already speaks to you. It’s this consistency that makes balancing extremes feel seamless and natural. A final thought Photo: @arrayoffaces/Instagram Breaking the balance between bold and beautiful fashion begins with understanding yourself, trusting your instincts, and allowing your wardrobe to reflect your personality. With the right pieces, thoughtful layering, and a dose of confidence, you can craft outfits that are expressive, stylish, and uniquely yours. Whether you’re embracing statement prints or mixing textures with intention, bold and beautiful doesn’t have to be a choice—you can have both in every outfit you wear. Kevin Peter Wilson11 Images When you think of dad swag, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? High-waisted jorts and a New Balance sneaker? Vomit-stained polos and those dusty brown sandals? It’s probably not new season Lemaire and archive Comme des Garçons – but that’s where Kevin Peter Wilson comes in. Earlier this week, the 26-year-old father of one posted a TikTok at a New York playground wearing black trousers, a white shirt and holding his daughter at his hip. “POV you’re the only dad at the park wearing Comme des Garçons and Lemaire,” said the caption, which resulted in disgruntled commenters saying that Wilson was “pretentious”, “insufferable” and “dressed like a waiter”. Despite being tongue-in-cheek, the post found its way off fashion TikTok and into the angry masses. But have they ever thought that Wilson was just deftly redefining what it means to be a dad and also have swag? A senior strategist at the NY influencer agency Fohr, Wilson began “super casually” documenting his outfits on TikTok in 2022, but only recently transitioned to the intersection between fashion and fatherhood. “I’ve realised there aren’t a ton of dads actively posting on TikTok,” he says, “especially not ones in more urban environments who are interested in high fashion the way I am.” Going purely off his TikTok, it looks like Wilson really was the only dad at the park wearing Comme des Garçons and Lemaire, so what’s the big deal anyway? Below, we catch up with the young dad about his viral TikTok, the online reaction to his outfits, plus his archive collection and fashion holy grails. Hey Kevin! You recently caught TikTok’s attention by being the only dad at the park wearing Comme des Garçons and Lemaire. What made you want to share the outfit? Kevin Peter Wilson: Hello! It’s great to chat. To be honest, I didn’t put a ton of thought into it and hadn’t even planned on capturing my outfit that day. My wife and I were waiting for a reservation nearby when we took our daughter Luna to the park to play. I’d posted similar content before that people seemed interested in, so I figured they’d enjoy seeing more. The comment section got quite heated! People were saying you were dressed like a waiter – were you expecting such a pushback? Kevin Peter Wilson: I’m quite confident in myself and my style, so it didn’t affect me much. I found the comments comedic, to be honest. I do think the fashion crowd is known for being a bit pretentious, and that naturally annoys people. I definitely posted it as a spin on the ‘no one knows I’m wearing xyz brand at the party rn’ meme, but naturally some didn’t get the reference. As a few comments pointed out, the video got on the wrong side of TikTok. You were clapping back quite hard at the comments, especially the homophobic ones. Kevin Peter Wilson: There’s still a large stigma around men dressing well and automatically having their sexuality categorised, which just feels wildly disjointed. I grew up in Kentucky and was called homophobic slurs all through my childhood at school. I’d love to see people stop boxing guys into what they can wear and stop trying to use ‘gay’ as an insult. It’s such a small-minded way to think and something I truly believe holds guys back from experimenting with fashion more. There are a lot of ‘dad creators’ who have strong audiences, but the majority I see are living suburban lifestyles and don’t dress similarly to me – Kevin Peter Wilson You also posted an earlier TikTok saying ‘POV: You’re a dad and you don’t let toddler life ruin your style.’ In what ways has Luna threatened your ruin? Kevin Peter Wilson: There’s always the temptation to not wear my nicer pieces when I’m out and about with my daughter due to fear of getting them dirty, but I’ve learned to just embrace it. My clothes are meant to be worn and enjoyed, and they can always be cleaned, repaired, etc. If you saw another dad wearing Comme at the kiddy park, would you feel a sense of kinship, or fear your spot had been taken? Kevin Peter Wilson: Without a doubt, kinship. Seeing someone wear the designers you love goes beyond sharing an aesthetic, it taps into common interests and deeper connection points. So were you looking to redefine what the fashion world considers dad swag? Kevin Peter Wilson: Not necessarily the high fashion world, but perhaps mainstream fashion. There are a lot of ‘dad creators’ who have strong audiences, but the majority I see on my FYP are living suburban lifestyles and don’t dress similarly to me. I’m hoping by sharing more about fatherhood and how it intersects with my interests, it can connect me to more like-minded dads – or non-dads. You have an impressive archive of Comme, Lemaire, Margiela, Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto – when did you start collecting? Kevin Peter Wilson: I first started getting into fashion when I was around 16, largely thanks to High Fashion Twitter where I was one of the first “hftwt” accounts. I didn’t have the funds to start collecting until I was well into my 20s and began discovering my love for brands like Lemaire, which I first found at Totokaelo in 2019, and began collecting Comme and Yohji in late 2023. I know it’s corny to say, but I really do resonate with the clothes in such a way that they feel like extensions of myself, like who I am on the inside is finally being accurately represented on the outside. Courtesy of Kevin Peter Wilson What are some of your favourite pieces? Kevin Peter Wilson: The Lemaire denim twist trousers that I was wearing at the park. I wear these on a weekly basis, and I purchased them at the old Lemaire flagship store in Paris on my 24th birthday. I also purchased my Lemaire Chinese slippers and a denim shirt there, which all feel really special, and I have to mention my Lemaire Croissant and Egg bags as well. From there, most of my favourite pieces are my Comme blazers. The AW24 button blazer I purchased last winter, a stunning white double-breasted blazer from AW21 that was secondhand from Vestiaire, and a 1990s blazer I scored at 2nd Street in Dallas in new condition for $180. I could really go on, as I love so many of the pieces I’ve been lucky enough to stumble upon – scroll through my Instagram and you’ll see more! Any holy grails you’re still dying to get your hands on? Kevin Peter Wilson: I’m always on the hunt for pieces from Jil Sander’s SS20 men’s collection, which is really the perfect summer wardrobe. Also pieces from Lemaire AW21, which solidified my love for the brand. The tones and outerwear are sharp and refined and really encapsulate who Lemaire is. Also, the Lemaire Reporter bag is high on my wishlist. There were also a few Homme Plissé Issey Miyake pieces from AW24 made in collaboration with artist Roman Bouroullec that I could never track down for sale, and I would love to have. I saw that you recently moved to New York. Where were you before, and what’s your opinion on the fashion scene? Kevin Peter Wilson: I was in Dallas from 2019 until mid-2024. I moved to New York in June of 2024 after having dreamed about it for almost 10 years. I think I’m still getting a grasp on the fashion scene. There’s a large number of people who are interested in fashion, but not a large number of people I’ve connected with who resonate with the same brands as me. That’s not because I don’t think they’re here, but I just haven’t crossed paths with them yet.  Inevitably, I think those interested in Lemaire and Japanese designers are a little more low-key and tend to stay under the radar. I do think it’s growing though, with shops like Ven. Space popping up – and I get DMs all the time from guys saying they’ve started purchasing Lemaire. !function (f, b, e, v, n, t, s) if (f.fbq) return; n = f.fbq = function () n.callMethod ? n.callMethod.apply(n, arguments) : n.queue.push(arguments) ; if (!f._fbq) f._fbq = n; n.push = n; n.loaded = !0; n.version = '2.0'; n.queue = []; t = b.createElement(e); t.async = !0; t.src = v; s = b.getElementsByTagName(e)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(t, s) (window, document, 'script', ' fbq('init', '357833301087547'); fbq('track', "PageView"); Source link

Skinny jeans are officially back. Whether you’re rolling your eyes or breathing a sigh of relief, there’s no denying their return to the style spotlight. After years dominated by oversized silhouettes, wide-leg trousers, and Gen Z’s bold attempts to cancel anything remotely form-fitting, the fashion cycle has come full circle. So, if you had the foresight to stash away your favorite pair—congratulations, you’re already ahead of the curve. If not, don’t stress. There are many ways to reintroduce skinny jeans into your wardrobe without sacrificing modern flair. But before you start spiraling into flashbacks of 2010 Tumblr-core, like ballet flats, plaid shirts, and infinity scarves in tow, let’s clear something up: today’s skinny jeans revival isn’t a direct throwback. In 2025, it’s all about styling them with intention, balancing structure with softness, and leaning into clean lines and elevated staples. Think less “hipster coffee shop” and more “Parisian cool with a downtown twist.” Photo: @mirandakerr/Instagram Fashion, after all, is about evolution—not repetition. So if you’re wondering how to wear skinny jeans in 2025 without looking like a time traveler, we’ve got you covered. The new take is all about contrasts: polished meets relaxed, classic meets current, and streamlined meets statement. Ahead, discover six fresh, foolproof ways to style skinny jeans that feel entirely of the moment. Here are 6 ways you can style skinny jeans with finesse in 2025… #1. The Tailored Blazer & Skinny Jeans Duo Photo: @lefevrediary/Instagram Oversized blazers are still having their fashion moment. When teamed with skinny jeans, the result is nothing short of effortlessly chic. The juxtaposition of a structured, boxy blazer against the streamlined silhouette of skinnies creates a balanced, tailored look that feels both modern and timeless. For a polished, office-ready ensemble, stick to neutral hues like camel, charcoal, or classic black. Want to make a statement? Reach for bold patterns or unexpected colors to infuse personality into the pairing. Photo: @stylepantry/Instagram To bring this combo firmly into 2025, consider a cropped or cinched blazer for a fresh, sculptural silhouette. Dress it up with gold jewelry, a sleek clutch, and pointed-toe heels or ankle boots for a touch of sophistication. The beauty of this outfit lies in its versatility—it can seamlessly take you from boardroom to brunch. Just swap the heels for loafers or minimalist sneakers to dial down the formality without losing the style. Shop editor’s finds   #2. Chunky Knits & Pumps/Boots—The Cozy Combo Photo: @jeans_kalistore/Instagram Few outfits capture the spirit of laid-back sophistication like a cozy oversized knit sweater paired with skinny jeans and pumps. The slouchy silhouette of the sweater adds just the right amount of nonchalance, balancing out the fitted shape of the jeans and keeping the look fresh. Bonus points if your sweater has exaggerated sleeves or a longer hemline that creates movement and visual interest. Photo: @leylaell_/Instagram For a modern twist, try a relaxed half-tuck to subtly define your waistline. Finish the outfit with suede pumps or leather boots to introduce rich textures that elevate the entire look. Feel free to play with color. An earthy-toned knit with chocolate brown boots exudes warmth and autumnal charm, while a monochrome black-on-black combo delivers instant polish and city-ready edge. #3. Athleisure Upgrade: Sneakers & Statement Outerwear Photo: @camilleymarie/Instagram Who says skinny jeans can’t be comfortable? The secret lies in pairing them with statement outerwear—think oversized bomber jackets, cropped puffers, or sleek longline trenches. Anchoring the look with a fitted base, like a bodysuit or slim turtleneck, keeps the silhouette intentional and balanced. Complete the vibe with your go-to sneakers. Chunky dad sneakers lend a cool, retro edge, while minimalist white kicks keep it clean and effortlessly modern. Add a baseball cap or a pair of statement sunglasses, and you’ve nailed the ultimate “off-duty but on-point” aesthetic. It’s an ideal look for casual coffee runs, errand-hopping, or just giving the impression that you’re en route to a very important (and very stylish) meeting. Want to take it up a notch? Swap out the sneakers for lug-sole boots or heeled ankle boots. That extra lift adds an unexpected twist of edge—all without sacrificing comfort. #4. Edgy Leather Vibes Photo: @bronniee/Instagram For those drawn to an edgier aesthetic, leather is the ultimate partner for skinny jeans. Whether you reach for a classic moto jacket, an oversized leather blazer, or even a daring leather corset, this material instantly injects cool-girl energy into your outfit. Stick to a sleek monochrome palette—think all-black, deep oxblood, or crisp winter white—for a look that feels polished and undeniably modern. To avoid falling into the predictable, play with contrast. Layer a satin blouse beneath your leather outerwear to soften the edge. Otherwise, introduce a splash of color with a bold handbag or statement sunglasses. Texture mixing is your best friend here—it keeps the outfit dynamic and visually rich. In addition, footwear can shift the vibe entirely. Combat boots lend a rebellious punk undertone, while pointed-toe heels or heeled booties bring a sharp, elevated finish. Want to push the envelope even further? Try metallic leather or unexpected animal prints for that extra dose of drama. Shop editor’s choice   #5. Chic Tops & Strappy Heels  Photo: @theegeehstyle/Instagram Skinny jeans aren’t just a daytime staple—they shine just as bright after dark. When the sun sets, elevate your jeans with sheer tops, delicate lace blouses, or slinky satin camisoles that bring just the right amount of allure. The key to nailing this nighttime look is contrast. The structure of the jeans grounds the softness of the fabric, resulting in an effortlessly balanced ensemble that turns heads without trying too hard. To amp up the evening glamour, slip into strappy heels or pointed-toe pumps and layer on statement jewelry for that extra sparkle. Feeling bold? Go for a sheer embellished top over a sleek bralette—it’s daring, sophisticated, and undeniably fashion-forward.  For a more understated take, try layering a sharply tailored blazer over a sheer blouse. It adds just the right edge while keeping the vibe chic and polished. The beauty of this look lies in its versatility—you can dial it up or down depending on your mood or the occasion. #6. Denim-on-Denim Done Right Photo: @theegeehstyle/Instagram While baggy silhouettes may have dominated the conversation, skinny jeans remain the secret weapon of denim-on-denim mastery. The trick? It’s all about proportion, attitude, and knowing how to make them feel brand new. To channel that effortlessly cool vibe, start with a light-wash chambray shirt paired with dark indigo skinny jeans—it’s a timeless contrast that never fails. Want something a bit edgier? Throw a cropped denim jacket over black skinnies and instantly step into off-duty model territory. Photo: @slaymskaye/Instagram For a modern twist, layer an oversized denim jacket or leave a relaxed denim shirt unbuttoned over a sleek bodysuit. This high-low play between tailored denim and looser silhouettes adds depth and interest without feeling overdone. Remember: denim-on-denim isn’t just a comeback trend—it’s a power move. And when skinny jeans are part of the equation, they remind us that the best classics don’t fade. Shop editor’s curation   Final Thoughts: Making Skinny Jeans Work for You Photo: @olivebiswas12/Instagram The key to rocking skinny jeans in 2025 lies in one word: balance. This isn’t about revisiting the fashion rules of a decade ago. It’s about reimagining an old favorite through a modern lens. Today’s take on skinny jeans is smarter, sleeker, and far more versatile. It’s about pairing them with elevated pieces, unexpected textures, and silhouettes that feel fresh, not forced. Photo: Fashion Nova Whether you’ve been a skinny jean loyalist all along or you’re cautiously giving them a second chance, rest assured. There’s a way to make them work seamlessly with your current wardrobe and personal style. So, the next time someone tries to claim skinny jeans are “over,” just flash them a knowing smile. Fashion always circles back, but the trick is staying ahead of the loop. And you, my friend, are already there. Now go forth—strut with confidence, and show the world just how good a comeback can look. What follows are edited selections from our conversation—a snapshot of an uncertain and very chaotic moment in time in a life that has been uncertain and chaotic for many years now. For much of our interview, Young Thug wore a mask: chain mail, basically, hiding his face. “Only scientists can see UY Scuti,” he said when I asked why he’d covered his face. “I don’t feel like people should see me. I mean a scientist could maybe reconstruct it, do something with the mask and get a clear picture. But I just feel like—hidden scars, and just hiding things.”GQ: Okay, but there’s got to be a vibe or a spiritual feeling or something that is channeling you into this place.Young Thug: I just feel big. I feel like I’m one of the biggest stars. I did a lot: founding this culture and the new rap game that’s happening right now. I just feel like I’m out of this world. Was there a moment when that realization arrived?Yeah, I was actually in court. I was on trial. And I just started looking around the courtroom like, Damn, there’s a lot of people in here. It’s cameras. It’s the longest trial in Georgia history. And even just the things that the judge said when it was over for me. The judge was just like, “Yo, you got to realize who you are.” My lawyer, Brian Steel, he always told me every day, like, “Bro, you got to know. You got to know.” And then me just sitting in the cell every night alone, it was just kind of like, “I’m big.” I always was popular. I was always the big bro, even in my neighborhoods and things, so I’ve never looked at it. I didn’t grasp how it is now because I always was like that.Is that a crazy feeling to be like, I’m this big and I’m also in a cell?I think I’m too big for jail. But I think I’m not too big for God, so God could put the biggest person in there. I feel like I’m taller than the jail, but he somehow could just squish me in there. I think it was like a God thing. Just showing me situations, real friends and who you with, who is with you, and how to move and how to be.Tough to feel bigger than the jail when you’re in the jail. For sure. It’s just like I was treated, how the officers treated me. It’s just like, Damn, I don’t got no bitches here. Like, the fucking officers who work in the jail are fans. They’re 20 years old. It’s like, Damn, you’re a kid! Telling me what to do. Which is not a bad thing. My kids tell me what to do; my girl, everybody tell me what to do. But to actually just sit like—Why I’m on punishment and you guys are my parents? You’re like parenting me and telling me like, “You the fucking one, bro! What’d you say on this song?”And I’m sure in that moment you’re like, Am I ever going to get back the thing that got me here, my career, my ability to make records all day?I feel like when you’re genuine and you’re really artistic and just all around fire, it really can’t end for you. I don’t think it’ll end unless I end it. I don’t think people will ever get tired of me unless I’d be like, “All right, I’m tired of making music.” Just retire. I don’t think it’ll get to the point where people are like, “Yo, it’s over with.”But there maybe was a moment when you’re like, I can’t serve the desire that people want?I still was kind of serving it, though. Just being free, even behind walls. And just being happy and going to court and there’s cameras in the court and people just seeing me and it’s like, “All right, he don’t look like he’s stressed. He don’t look like this. He don’t look like that.” I think God put me in there for a reason. And I’m still trying to figure it out. I always felt like I was a good guy, so it was like, “Why do I got to go to jail for you to show me something? Why you just can’t tell me?” I guess I was just hardheaded. And I think I love people so much to the point where the only thing that’ll make me not love you anymore, or just dislike you, is betrayal. Like real-life betrayal. When your life is depending on it.Is that something you felt like was happening?Betrayal happen every day. Absolutely. You know that. I mean, you got to ask. I feel betrayed. I feel fucking jaded. It’s crazy.Does it feel good to be standing here right now?Absolutely. To be out. But I would talk on the phone with my lawyer—he got houses in the mountains. He’d show me, so I’d be still kind of seeing the scenery. It was two-and-a-half years, though. Going from this to a jail cell is nuts. What can you say about the experience of being incarcerated for more than two years? It was real. Don’t want to deal with it again, but definitely it was real. Were there moments when you wondered if you would ever get out?For sure.In those moments, are you thinking about yourself, your family, your career? Where does the mind go?Family. Kids. Career was, like, last. That was irrelevant.I think it would be human to feel, in that situation, like: A great injustice is being done to me. Did you ever feel that way?Absolutely. Every day. Innocent man.It ended up being the longest criminal trial in Georgia history, which speaks to how crazy those circumstances were. Did it feel personal?Yeah, of course. But shit, we made it back. You may be constrained in what you can say and not say, but you ultimately did decide to plead guilty to six counts. Was that a difficult decision?Absolutely. Just pleading to something you know that you didn’t do is crazy. But you get a chance to keep fighting. [You can] worry about the jury’s fate, or you [can] just go ahead now and go home. It’s like shit. Go home. You had lyrics of yours used against you in court. How’d that feel?It felt kind of crazy. And cool. Because it’s like, “Oh, everybody listen to me.” But crazy. Like, the First fucking Amendment is freedom of speech. Well, third or fourth, but the top five. And we’re talking about lyrics? If I understand correctly, part of the terms of your probation, there’s certain things you can’t talk about on records now, right?I can’t do nothing like gang things or stuff like that on the internet. I can really talk about what I want to talk about in music. I normally rap about cool things. I just got a few lyrics where I just rap about street stuff and those are the lyrics that they tried to use against me. But most of the time I don’t rap about that type of stuff.Does that experience make you think twice about rapping about street stuff?Yeah, because just the impact that you got on the community, the youth. Not because of the law. More so just like realistically kids actually listen to us. Like, all right, we got to dumb it down some. I listen to new rappers now and I’m like, “My kid can’t listen to that.” So I’d be like, Damn. So contradictory. What have you been doing since you got out?Working on my album. Did a little partying. But mainly just working on my album, chilling with the kids, chilling with my girl, chilling in the studio, linking up with other rappers. Just doing the normal.Your girl is Mariah the Scientist—are you guys on the couch watching shows?Absolutely. Sometimes you got to come get me from where I’m at though. Sometimes I don’t want to go home. She was in court supporting you. She’s also on your album, on a song that’s so raw and confessional that I wondered if you guys thought twice about letting other people hear it.Nah, it’s music. People all over the world going through that. As an artist, that’s your job. What else is there to talk about? You want to talk about clothes and shoes or you want to talk about real things that people could feel forever? There is a great tradition of songs about clothes and shoes, too, to be fair.Oh, for sure. Sometimes you got to do that, too. I do that to keep people up to par on what to wear. So the young guys that’s looking up to me that want to know what coat this is and what thermals these are, those guys could be like, “Oh, this is what it is.”You have a big family, I know you guys are close—are you still able to be around them? I ask because, if I understand correctly, part of the terms of your probation are that you can’t go back home to Atlanta except under certain specific circumstances.Yeah. Only for certain things.Do you miss it?Yeah, it’s home. I was already out of Atlanta before this case, though. I’ve lived in LA since 2017. So I wasn’t in Atlanta anyway.Do you feel like you’re in exile?Absolutely. Can’t go home. It’s crazy. What does that feel like?It just feels like abuse. Before all this happened, I think Atlanta was like the center of rap culture. Do you think it still is?Absolutely. We create the wave. We got other places that’s popping for sure. Everybody’s popping now. But everybody still sound like Atlanta or move to Atlanta or rap about Atlanta. You got artists from a whole other place rapping about Atlanta.Even if you’re not there, I assume you still feel like one of the leaders of that city. One of the guys that plowed Atlanta into the rap industry, yeah.Who else would you put in that category?Future. [21] Savage. Lil Baby. Migos. Tip [T.I.]. André 3000. Gucci [Mane].That’s the Mount Rushmore right there. We got a lot of kings in Atlanta. There’s more, too, but just off the top, those people.Have you kept up with rap in general? What do you think of the current state of the art? It felt like while you were away, it was sort of dominated by this Drake-Kendrick Lamar thing—I don’t know if you have a side in that, I know Atlanta got dragged into it by Kendrick.Yeah, he just spoke on people’s name in Atlanta. I don’t know what that was about. I’m a Drake fan.Do you feel rap music in general is in a good place?Yes. I think the numbers could be better. A lot of people are rapping about the same thing and nobody is bringing anything colorful. A lot of people wasn’t bringing something that you can actually watch. You can enjoy the music and enjoy the things that they do, but we used to make movies. I think now it’s just quick. You got to get back to movies, you got to get back to where people respect it.Why do you think they went away from that in the first place?Because it was just a big wave of nothingness running the game. It was just a big wave of super simple videos, not really high-priced videos. That wave came in really strong, so even the people that was doing high-priced videos, they started doing regular videos because that’s what was popping. But I think now we did it so long to the point where we comfortable with that and we don’t want to do stuff like this no more. That take time. You mentioned your own new record earlier, UY Scuti. Did making music feel the same as it felt before? It came easy. I never lost it. Nothing. I never lost it. I listened to music in jail and I listened to music sometimes in court and things like that, so I never lost it. I was still up to par on what was going on for the most part.Did it feel like making other records the way it would’ve felt in 2016 or 2021?No, it is a whole different feeling for sure. Because you’re just in court fighting for your life. And now you’re in a studio at home surrounded by love and beats. One thing I noticed about the record is you can really hear every word. You hear your voice. It’s high in the mix. Was that deliberate?I’ve told my manager: I just want to make music where you can actually hear me. Because I always talk that shit, but sometimes you can’t hear it. Sometimes you’re like, “What are you saying?” So it’s like now, I feel like I’m a new artist. I feel like I just came in the rap game again. What do you remember about your early days as an artist?Just being happy and free.I’ve heard interviews where you talked about kind of bruising, early encounters with the industry. Your deal with Gucci Mane, who first signed you, was kind of weird, right? Or even Lyor Cohen, who signed you to 300 Entertainment—I’ve heard you say that one started out difficult too, right?Yeah. Because we just didn’t know each other. We ended up being good friends.Did you hold those dealings against them later on?When I was younger, yeah, because I just didn’t realize people’s point of view or way of hustling. Now I have some of those similar ways of hustling and points of view, so now it’s just like, “Oh, okay.” The more I got bigger, the more I realized. Because even when we got cool, I still didn’t understand some of it. Even when we got cool, me and Lyor got supercool. He my mentor. Even when we got supercool, I still didn’t understand some of the things that I felt like he did back then. But now it’s just growing older and owning the record label and doing things like that. It’s like, “Okay, cool.” You get it.Did you make a point with your label of maybe doing things differently with artists than the way that people dealt with you?I don’t really be taking money from my artists and stuff like that. I just like to help people. Sometimes it costs and sometimes you just lose, but it really don’t matter. One of those artists was Gunna. You guys did a ton of songs together. He was very successful on your label. He was arrested about the same time as you. I think a lot of people wonder what that relationship is like now.Yeah, I know. Everybody wondering that. What’s it like?I don’t know.I guess that’s its own form of answer, right? You like to plow deep into things, huh?Yeah, I’m a pro.So that whole speech you gave me earlier, like, “Yeah, I’m new to this shit.” All that shit was just cap?Oh no—I was telling you I’m new to the cameras. The interviewing I’m not remotely new to.Okay—I thought you was going to lie. Because I saw you a few times interviewing. Those are the only ones I’ve done on camera! Do you have bigger ambitions for the label going forward? We just pushing positivity. And just going for the gusto. We’re trying to just kill the whole rap game and just do it big and just help people in general. Help society, help the communities we from, and just be so great.People around you have made it sound like you have more than just a label these days.Sports agency. I’m shooting a movie, documentary, clothing brand. It’s a lot of things moving.Speaking of sports, did you see the NFL banned the “nose wipe” celebration?Oh wow. They can’t wipe their nose? No, I ain’t see that. That’s crazy. When you first started out, people would make a big deal of the fact that you wore a dress on the cover of an album, or that you’d call somebody “lover” or whatever. In retrospect, were you trying to be provocative, or was that just naturally the way you came up?I think it was just making people mad. Provocative to a man is crazy. I think I was just doing it, just making people mad.Where’d the idea come from?I don’t know. A lot of my ideas just come from UY Scuti—just come from fucking space. Now, when people write the history of this era, they give you a ton of credit for bringing that super-melodic trap sound to the mainstream of rap. Is that the way you would tell the story?I’m the first to do it. Well, I don’t know. I always think that I was the first to do things, but then I see history and it’s just like, Damn, they did that. It’s crazy.A lot of that early music you made as part of the supergroup Rich Gang, with Rich Homie Quan. Why did that partnership end?I think we just grew and became our own bosses and men, and then we just didn’t want to keep doing the Rich Gang albums. We were getting bigger, so it’s like I wanted to do my own shit. You wanted to do your own thing?I think he did. I was okay with it, because I feel like I love music, but I don’t care about songs. So I’ll have a number one hit record, song, and I’ll put you on it. I don’t care. It’s just like, so whoever goes to the top with you, go to the top. I don’t care. I never was the guy that cared about that type of stuff. So I would’ve been okay with just keep doing it. We still was dropping our own music at the same time as doing that, so it’s just like it really was bigger. But I guess everybody couldn’t see that. So people just do things. Make mistakes. When you listen to music now, do you hear your influence?Absolutely. Don’t want to say everything—the crazy part is I can’t say that everybody do something that I did because it was a lot of things that I did in the beginning that somebody else did, but I never knew they did it. I just did it.What’s an example of that?Wearing a dress. I never saw nobody wear a dress. Then soon as I did, people were like, Oh, André 3000, this and that, and this guy and this guy and this guy did and this guy did it. So I can’t say people’s flows or people like rhythms and things just 100 percent come from me. I think that it can. You hear some shit and you’re just like, “Yeah, for sure—me for sure. You never sounded like that,” or “You never rap like that.”What about style? Do you see your influence in that?Yeah, of course. I might do something that’s supercool like this and then somebody will do something that’s not like this, but you wouldn’t have even thought to do what you did if you didn’t see me. You might not do what I did or nothing close to what I did. But that headspace definitely came from seeing me. I wore skinny jeans when everybody wore big jeans. I just never liked long chains back then. I got a lot of long chains now, but back then I never liked long chains, so I was probably the first rapper ever cutting chains. But I see old videos from like ’94, ’93 with Tupac, and he’s got on a short chain. So it’s like, Damn, I thought I was the first person doing it.Where is it going next? I think people watch you pretty closely.I’m just like one of the people that just opened those doors for us. People probably was scared to wear a dress until me. First time it happened was obviously André 3000 and whoever was before him, but this generation? This fucking time? I’m the person for that.I think it would be natural to want things to be the way they were before all this stuff happened—are you okay if it’s different now?Yeah. Because it’s different for better. It’s like—I’m smarter, I’m older, I know what jail feels like. I know what thoughts, betrayals, I know what everything feel like. And I know how to go forward.I don’t think anybody would opt for two years in jail, or the longest criminal trial in Georgia history. No one would choose to go through that. But do you feel at peace with that experience at this point?I felt at peace with it when I was going through it. It’s just the probation part that’s kind of stupid to me. But yeah, I felt peace the whole time. I wasn’t stressed at all. I really was chilling. I guess I just knew subconsciously that wasn’t the end for me because God got bigger plans for me.So you felt peace then. How do you feel now?I feel peace. Absolutely. I feel more peace now. You can move with almost nothing over your head. You got probation, but that’s really nothing. I’m not going to violate probation. It’s just like almost fully peaceful. Once probation is over, then it’s like, okay, cool. Then it’s full peace? For sure. And until then?Ninety percent. But maybe we’ll take ninety percent.Absolutely. I’ll take ten percent peace. This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity.PRODUCTION CREDITS:Director: Cole EvelevDirector of Photography: Carter RossEditor: Robby MasseyTalent: Young Thug; Zach BaronProducer: Sam DennisLine Producer: Jen SantosProduction Manager: James PipitoneProduction Coordinator: Elizabeth HymesTalent Booker: Tracy ShafferSteadicam Operator: Greg GustafsonCamera Operator: Jon Corum; Taylor Frontier1st Assistant Camera: Adam Lee2nd Assistant Camera: Jacob MarianiGaffer: Noah SpieceKey Grip: Jack MotterSwing: Kevin ShumDIT: Lauren WoronaSound Mixer: Justin FoxProduction Assistant: Spencer Mathesen; Lily StarckMake-up Artist: Hee Soo KwonHairstylist: Christy IvoryProduction Designer: Cedar JocksPost Production Supervisor: Jess DunnPost Production Coordinator: Rachel KimSupervising Editor: Rob LombardiAssistant Editor: Fynn Lithgow Source link

Whether it’s to the powdery ski slopes in St. Moritz or crystal beaches in Fiji, travelers have long been willing to go the distance for exclusive experiences. But one new destination is hitting closer to home: bed. Worldwide, leading resorts are unveiling sleep-centric services, ranging from fully guided retreats to curated treatments devised to enhance the slumber of their fatigued guests.A far cry from island hopping in the Maldives or sipping one’s way across Bordeaux, sleep retreats come at a time when U.S. adults are reporting alarmingly low rates of nightly sleep. According to the National Sleep Foundation’s 2022 Sleep Health Index, 63 percent of U.S. adults said they sleep less than the recommended seven to nine hours of sleep each night—a staggering near-40 percent rise from the previous year. The impacts of chronic sleeplessness can stretch well beyond a bleary-eyed morning. Indeed, lack of sleep and sleep disorders have been found to have negative impacts on mental health, brain health, and the immune system, among other functions. Cue the luxury sleep market.“Today’s guests are seeking more than a great workout or a spa day; they’re looking to use their time away to reset, reconnect, and care for themselves in holistic, intentional ways,” says Amanda Al-Masri, vice president of wellness at Hilton. After intensive research and in partnership with Rebecca Robbins, PhD, assistant professor at Harvard Medical School and associate scientist at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the hotel group launched its first sleep retreat in 2024 at Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria resort, and unveiled a second this year at its Conrad Orlando location, with more “sleep experiences” in development.Across the hotel group’s portfolio, Hilton is counting its sheep. At select properties, travelers can book rooms geared toward holistic well-being with an emphasis on rest. These rooms feature everything from access to the mindfulness app, Calm, to cooling linens, air purifiers, and Normatec compression boots (which, frankly, are heavenly after a long trek).Hilton joins a growing list of luxury hotels and resorts extending these services, often complete with specialized menus and massages customized to help guests catch up on sleep. Below, check out some of the leading destinations offering slumber-friendly amenities. You won’t want to sleep on these.Created in partnership with Mathew Walker, PhD, professor of neuroscience and psychology at University of California, Berkeley and founder of the Center for Human Sleep Science, Equinox Hotel’s two-night “Art and Science of Sleep” experience consists of guided movement and breath practices meant to balance a guest’s circadian rhythm. The package also includes two cryotherapy sessions and two wave table sessions, which “provide the equivalent of three hours’ sleep in just 30 minutes.” For those interested in recouping even more R&R, a five-day option is also available, which includes add-ons like IV drips and a menu brimming with sleep-friendly ingredients.Courtesy of Equinox Hotel New YorkLook familiar? Serving as the luxury resort in season three of The White Lotus, Four Seasons Koh Samui is leaving the drama for Hollywood, instead offering sleep-friendly services. Here, visitors can dine early to kick any pesky jet lag and jumpstart their circadian rhythm. Further, they can participate in a range of treatments like a guided sound bath or a dip in a flower-laden bath conceived to please the senses. Last, a massage scented with lavender oil can further untangle any tension plaguing guests, fostering a pleasant drift into sleep.Tucked away on the northern tip of Ibiza, Six Senses resort leads with an emphasis on well-being, culminating in its Sleep Wellness program. The experience, which can be booked for three- to seven-night stays, takes a personalized approach to its package. The offering is robust, loaded with amenities such as private yoga sessions, sound baths, meditation, and biohacking. Also available throughout the trip, guests have access to sleep tracker data, which can bolster sleep hygiene regimes no matter where the traveler is resting their head.Sleep Wellness program at Six Senses IbizaCourtesy of Six SensesFrom Wellness Rooms at Grand Wailea and Conrad Orlando that house massage guns, yoga mats, and filtered shower heads to “bedding innovations” that range from specialty mattresses to cooling linens, Hilton is dreaming big when it comes to sleep. Mindfully appointed with some of the latest sleep and wellness technology, the suite features a swath of customizable elements like Pluto Pillows and an Eight Sleep mattress. What’s more, guests can log a workout within the comfort of their room, courtesy of the provided Forme equipment. Further, a Loftie lamp may help adjusting to Pacific Time while available red-light therapy helps counteract harmful blue light, which can derail your body’s natural sleep processes.Hotel Figueroa Rest and Recovery SuiteCourtesy of Hotel FigueroaWhen one hops various time zones all in a day’s work, it can take a beat for the body to catch up to its new surroundings. Cultivating calmness across various locations, Mandarin Oriental provides a host of services and treatments to help guests combat jet lag, unwind after a busy day, and emphasize self-care. For example, guests at Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong might consider its Circadian Syncing Deep Sleep treatment, which blends aromatherapy, massage, and slumber-enhancing minerals to aid in seamless sleep. Meanwhile, at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, guests can register for the two-hour Deep Sleep treatment, which combines an acupressure massage and a Tibetan sound healing ritual.Circadian Syncing Deep Sleep treatment at the Mandarin Oriental Hong KongCourtesy Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong Source link

Weddings are always a big deal in Nigeria, but few have captured hearts and hijacked timelines quite like the traditional union of Nigerian influencer Priscilla Ojo and Tanzanian music sensation Juma Jux. Dubbed #JP2025, the star-studded affair seamlessly blended East and West African traditions into a cultural and fashion-forward spectacle, setting the tone for asoebi styles for ladies in 2025. From the bold color palette to the glamorous guest list and emotional family moments, this was more than a wedding. It was a masterclass in modern African elegance. As wedding bells rang on Thursday, April 17, and guests arrived in full glam, it became clear: this wasn’t just a celebration of love. It was a vibrant display of style, heritage, and unity. From couture-level designs to head-turning gele moments, the entire day served up asoebi inspiration we’ll be seeing on Instagram feeds and Pinterest boards for months to come. Indeed, it was the kind of event that brought Lagos to a stylish standstill and turned social media into a virtual runway. Priscilla Ojo—daughter of Nollywood royalty Iyabo Ojo—tied the knot with Tanzanian heartthrob Juma Jux in a ceremony that felt like a cinematic fusion of fashion and emotion. The Yoruba-Swahili blend was nothing short of magical, while the guest list featured Nigeria’s elite—celebrities, influencers, and industry icons—all dressed to impress in asoebi looks that are already shaping 2025’s glam goals. Fashion Takes Centre Stage The ceremony, held at the picturesque Five Palms in Oniru, Lagos, kicked off with an undeniable visual statement. Priscilla and Juma’s official portraits, clad in rich royal purple traditional attire, instantly captivated fans across social media. This regal debut set the tone for a celebration soaked in luxury, love, and pan-African cultural elegance. From the start, Priscilla’s fashion choices stole the spotlight. Her first look featured opulent purple fabrics adorned with intricate silver embroidery. Later, she stunned in a shimmering silver lace gown paired with a deep maroon gele, securing her title as the asoebi style muse of 2025. Each outfit was not just a look, but a statement, elevating bridal style to new heights. But Juma wasn’t about to fade into the background. Dressed in a majestic maroon velvet agbada, layered with traditional beads and carrying a carved ceremonial staff, he brought undeniable Swahili royalty energy to the scene. Together, the couple embodied a modern African love story—one told through fashion, heritage, and perfectly executed flair. Iyabo Ojo’s Unforgettable Fashion & Moments Iyabo Ojo, the ever-glamorous “Iya Iyawo” (Mother of the Bride), once again proved why she’s one of Nollywood’s undisputed style icons. Dressed in a breathtaking Mubrik Luxury emerald green and gold ensemble, she dazzled in a floral-cut corset and intricately beaded rose-patterned headgear. But she didn’t stop there. Later, she reemerged in a fiery orange and red outfit, dripping in coral beads. The bold color pairing radiated confidence, cultural pride, and signature Iyabo flair. Beyond the fashion, one of the most heartfelt moments came during her emotional prayer session with Priscilla before the ceremony. It was a quiet but powerful reminder of what weddings are really about: love, legacy, and lineage. Adding another layer of grace to the day, Iyabo’s ex-husband, Ademidun Ojo, made a surprise appearance. Their dignified, joyful dance together was more than just a viral moment—it was a powerful example of co-parenting done right, earning Iyabo widespread praise for “changing the narrative.”  The Asoebi Effect No Nigerian wedding is complete without a breathtaking display of asoebi, and #JP2025 delivered in spectacular fashion. The bridal train turned heads in coordinated pink lace gowns and intricately wrapped asooke geles, striking a flawless balance between tradition and trend. Meanwhile, guests embraced the event’s official color palette—olive green, gold, maroon, and pink—with flair, interpreting it through a kaleidoscope of styles that blended creativity with elegance. From sequin-studded corsets to flowing floor-length gowns and figure-hugging skirts, asoebi looks came in every silhouette imaginable. This wasn’t just fashion; it was a preview of 2025’s wedding guest style direction. And the women did not come to play. Bold cuts, intricate embellishments, and statement accessories reigned supreme. Geles were architectural masterpieces—structured, sculptural, and unapologetically dramatic—perfectly paired with radiant makeup and dazzling jewels. Together, they didn’t just wear outfits—they made unforgettable style declarations. Celebrity Slay & Viral Moments The star power at #JP2025 was on an entirely different level. The guest list read like a who’s who of Nigerian and East African A-listers, with the likes of Toyin Abraham, Chioma “Good Hair” Ikokwu, Diamond Platnumz, and Mercy Aigbe all bringing their A-game. However, it was Papaya Ex who truly stole the spotlight. She arrived in a bold, sleek dress emblazoned with the groom’s face—a fashion statement that had the internet buzzing and sparked a heated debate on social media. Adding to the excitement, Governor Ademola Adeleke surprised attendees with an impromptu stage performance, further elevating the event’s energy and unforgettable moments. The atmosphere was nothing short of electrifying—festive, fabulous, and fiercely fashionable, just as you’d expect when Nollywood royalty, music icons, and high society come together in one breathtaking celebration. The Power Couple’s Cultural Journey Beyond the glamour, what truly made this wedding exceptional was the intentionality behind every moment. In fact, Priscilla and Juma’s journey—from a chance meeting in Rwanda to a viral music video appearance, followed by heartfelt proposals and cross-continental celebrations—was rooted in love and respect for each other’s heritage. Moreover, their earlier Nikkah ceremony in Tanzania and their civil wedding in Lagos were both stepping stones to this grand finale, serving as proof that love, when nurtured, knows no borders. A Blueprint for Future Asoebi Fashion If there’s one takeaway from #JP2025, it’s that asoebi styles in 2025 are all about self-expression, elegance, and honoring culture. Whether it’s olive green lace, silver sequins, or maroon velvet, the key is to stand out while still blending in—bringing your unique touch to a shared cultural moment. So, whether you’re planning or attending a wedding this year, take notes. From bridal squad coordination to bold solo statements, the traditional wedding of Priscilla Ojo and Juma Jux is the ultimate mood board for asoebi styles for ladies in 2025. Want to turn heads? Start here. And remember, in the world of Nigerian weddings, fashion isn’t just an accessory—it’s the main event. We love a breakfast protein smoothie or shake as much as the next person. They’re quick, delicious and easy to pack full of nutrients our bodies need. But if you’d like to add a little variety to your morning routine, and you want to get the most out of that expensive jug of vanilla protein powder, we have good news. There are several tasty and convenient vanilla protein powder recipes that aren’t smoothies. That’s right — you can get your protein by eating pancakes, banana bread or even carrot cake. Keep reading to see what dietitians and nutritionists say about baking with vanilla protein powder and to check out some of our favorite recipes. Benefits of adding vanilla protein powder to recipes Adding vanilla protein powder to baked good recipes is a delicious and convenient way to hit your health targets in a variety of ways, according to Omaira Ferreira, FDN-P, HHP, founder of Ferreira Functional Health. She notes that some of the top benefits of boosting the protein content of your recipes are: Muscle recovery and growth: “Adding vanilla protein powder to recipes can help provide the amino acids needed to support muscle recovery after workouts and promote muscle building.” Nutrient density: “Protein powders often contain additional nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and sometimes fiber.” Weight management: “Protein is known to increase satiety and help regulate appetite, making you feel fuller for longer.” And that can help you lose weight. Click through to see how morning protein can boost weight loss and read about 62-year-old Pam Hambach, who lost 163 lbs! Tip: Click through to learn why a protein-rich breakfast is a smart way to heal your adrenals to increase your energy and erase brain fog. The best vanilla protein powders Ultimately, the best protein powder is one that fits within your dietary and nutritional needs. There are both plant-based and dairy options. However, the world of protein powders is a vast one, so we asked Susan Van Raes, functional nutritionist, food psychology specialist and founder of Boulder Nutrition, how she picks her favorite. “I have done so much research on protein powders over the years, and my favorites are those that are clean, have low-glycemic sweeteners and pure ingredients,” she says. Among her favorites: Ancient Nutrition Vanilla Plant Protein as a dairy- free option, and for those who can tolerate dairy, IsaLean by IsaGenix. Health Try Protein Coffee for Weight Loss—The Fat-Burning Morning Treat Dr. Kellyann Petrucci says it can “turn your body into a fat-burning machine” How to bake with vanilla protein powder Vanilla protein powder can be added to many baking recipes, and here are some tips to keep in mind to guarantee delicious results: 1. Keep goodies tender with extra liquid. While adding vanilla protein powder to recipes packs on nutritional value, it can also change the texture of the finished product. “It can make recipes denser, drier or more crumbly,” says Ferreira. “To counteract this, you can try adding additional liquid ingredients or adjusting the overall recipe to ensure a moist and tender texture.” 2. Watch your sugar. Because vanilla protein powder is already sweet, you should be careful when adding it to recipes so as not to over-sweeten. “There are some protein powders that have added sugar, honey or artificial sweeteners,” says certified exercise butrition coach Catherine Gervacio, RDN. “Therefore, it’s best to adjust the taste of a recipe and consider adjusting the levels of other ingredients, especially when making desserts.” 3. Pick this powder for high-heat baking. Since the most popular way to consume vanilla protein powder is in smoothies and shakes, you might wonder whether or not baking it impacts its nutritional content. While heat can potentially alter the bioavailability and digestibility or protein powder, it isn’t likely to happen while baking, reassures Ferreira. “The impact of baking on nutritional value is generally minimal unless the protein powder is subjected to very high temperatures for a long time.” “It’s worth noting that different protein powders have different heat stability levels,” she adds. “For example, whey protein isolate tends to be more heat-stable compared to plant-based protein powders like pea or hemp protein.” Weight Loss Protein Ice Cream Recipe Is So Easy to Make With Just 5 Ingredients: My Taste Test Results I tried the viral feel-good dessert that's tasty and boasts 21 grams of protein per serving! Vanilla protein powder recipes that aren’t smoothies Good news: You actually can have your cake and eat it too. By adding vanilla protein powder to these tasty breakfast and dessert treats, you’re satisfying your sweet tooth and your hunger in a healthy way. Wearing SPF every day can be a hard sell if your skin is prone to shine—after all, who wants to add more greasiness to already-oily skin? But a sunscreen formulated specifically for oily skin can make the daily habit a lot easier to stick with. It’ll have a lighter consistency and contain mattifying or oil-absorbing ingredients that’ll leave your skin looking fresh, not slick. If every SPF you’ve tried has left your face with a greasy sheen or heavy feel, allow us to introduce you to the best sunscreens for oily skin, hand-picked by dermatologists and Allure editors. Once you have your holy grail, you’ll never skip putting on SPF again. Our Top Sunscreens for Oily SkinFrequently Asked QuestionsAccordionItemContainerButtonBest Overall: Shiseido Urban Environment Oil-Free Mineral Sunscreen SPF 42ShiseidoUrban Environment Oil-Free Mineral Sunscreen SPF 42This lightweight, fluid sunscreen is everything you could want in an SPF for oily skin. First off: Shiseido Urban Environment Oil-Free Mineral Sunscreen SPF 42 is oil-free (hence the name), which is a must-have when you’re worried about a formula feeling greasy and adding to the slickness of your skin. Not only will this not contribute to oil, it’ll actively help eliminate it with dimethicone and silica—two ingredients that absorb oil and give your skin a smoother, shine-free finish (think of it like your favorite mattifying primer). Don’t worry, though—the formula is noncomedogenic, so these silicones won’t clog your pores and cause breakouts. It also packs hydrating ingredients like glycerin and hyaluronic acid to make sure you’re not lacking in moisture—because we all know drying out your skin isn’t the answer to solving oiliness. If that’s not enough to convince you to slip this into your beach bag, know that it’s also water-resistant for up to 40 minutes. You can splash around to your heart’s content and look great while doing it.Tester feedback from contributing commerce writer Annie BlackmanAccordionItemContainerButton“An oily sunscreen is like nails on a chalkboard for me, especially during summer months where my face gets oily on its own. This Shiseido sunscreen is oil-free, lightweight, and leaves no white cast. The bottle is smaller than I expected, but it has turned out to be a good thing because it slips right into my purse. I usually like creamier formulas, but I appreciate the thinness combined with the high protection level.”Sunscreen type/Key ingredientsAccordionItemContainerButtonmineral/glycerin, hyaluronic acid, camellia leaf extract, turmericBest for Acne-Prone Skin: SkinCeuticals Clear Daily Soothing UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 50SkinCeuticalsClear Daily Soothing UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 50Why it's worth it: The SkinCeuticals Clear Daily Soothing UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 50 is a mineral-chemical hybrid that was specifically tested on acne-prone skin to make sure it doesn’t flare up breakouts. Its star ingredients are peptides, which soothe sensitivity, and bisabolol—an anti-inflammatory that’ll calm down redness. And it leaves out potentially irritating ingredients like fragrance and comedogens that might clog pores.Tester feedback from commerce editor Sarah HanAccordionItemContainerButton“If you don’t want to compromise glow in the search for calming, non-irritating formulas, this is it. SkinCeuticals’ Clear Daily leaves my skin looking radiant after three small pumps (it’s harder to portion out the two-finger rule with a pump, so I think this is more or less an adequate amount) while peptides and bisabolol minimize any redness I have around my nose and cheeks. It takes a little longer to blend in compared to most 100% chemical sunscreens I’ve tried, but it dries down to a seamless, cast-free, and semi-dewy finish on my light-medium Asian skintone.”Sunscreen type/key ingredientsAccordionItemContainerButtonmineral and chemical/peptides, bisabolol, glycerinBest Tinted: Isdin Eryfotona Actinica Ageless Tinted Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50IsdinEryfotona Actinica Ageless Tinted Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50Why it's worth it: According to Brooklyn-based board-certified dermatologist Viktoryia Kazlouskaya, MD, the Isdin Eryfotona Actinica Ageless Tinted Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 is an ideal pick for the oiliest of complexions, due to its grease-free finish and universal tint that blends into your skin tone. It’s also a great pick for mature skin, since it contains skin-firming peptides to reduce the look of early-stage sagging and fine lines.Tester feedback from contributing commerce editor Deanna PaiAccordionItemContainerButton“My skin is so oily, you'd think I'd get an invite to OPEC. While I've found perfectly serviceable sunscreens that don't make me look greasy, this one stands out because it leaves my skin looking matte, but not overly flat or one-dimensional. The tint does a lot of heavy lifting for my skin tone—on which most mineral sunscreens look chalky—and I love that this has zero scent to speak of.”Sunscreen type/key ingredientsAccordionItemContainerButtonmineral/glycerin, peptides, vitamin EBest for Sensitive Skin: Ultra Violette Velvet Screen SPF 50Ultra VioletteVelvet Screen SPF 50Why it's worth it: Fragrance-free and made with zinc oxide, Ultra Violette Velvet Screen SPF 50 is a great option for sensitive skin. It also delivers serious skin-nourishing benefits, too: It packs vitamin C from kakadu plum that’ll brighten your skin while Pentavintin (a hydrating plant extract) brings hydration into the equation. Plus, it gives skin a blurred finish that can stand up to the sun’s heat. The texture is on the thicker side, so give this a beat to sink into your skin before applying makeup.Tester feedback from commerce producer Sarah HoffmannAccordionItemContainerButton“I recently spent the weekend at Coachella, outdoors and in 100-degree heat for three days straight, and this soft matte sunscreen saved my life. Not only did I manage to not get sunburned at all, the velvety finish really helped my makeup from turning into a gloopy, gooey mess.”Sunscreen type/key ingredientsAccordionItemContainerButtonmineral/kakadu plum, pentavitin, glycerinBest Korean: Then I Met You Essence Light Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++Then I Met YouEssence Light Sunscreen SPF 50 PA +++Why it’s worth it: Having parts of your face feel super dry while your T-zone can’t seem to stop pumping out oil is very real—and also tricky to navigate when it comes to products. But this Korean sunscreen is a safe bet for combination skin. Then I Met You Essence Light Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++ uses a trio of hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and panthenol to strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier while antioxidants from galactomyces ferment filtrate (a derivative of fermented sake) soothe and reduce the appearance of pores. It won’t completely get rid of shine, but it’ll give your skin a healthy sheen that looks dewy rather than greasy.Tester feedback from associate beauty director Sarah KinonenAccordionItemContainerButton“Technically, I have combination skin, but catch me mid-day and you'll see me shine from across the room. While the Then I Met You Essence Light Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++ doesn't sop up oil or even prevent it, it does play into my daily gleam in the best, most helpful way by giving my skin dehydrated much-needed moisture (in the form of ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and panthenol) as it protects it. I've gone through two, maybe three of these tubes already—it's the best!”Sunscreen type/key ingredientsAccordionItemContainerButtonchemical/galactomyces ferment filtrate, hyaluronic acid, ceramides, panthenolBest Transparent: EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46EltaMDUV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46Why it's worth it: Board-certified dermatologist Jeannette Graf, MD, a professor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, suggests EltaMD's barely-there UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46, touting its ability to reduce shine and clear pores by way of lactic acid. Think of this as more of a mattifying moisturizer than a sunscreen. Even though it's boosted with sodium hyaluronate (a form of hyaluronic acid) to hydrate skin, it'll never feel oily or sticky. FYI: We’ve found that it helps to give the formulation a few minutes to set before applying makeup to avoid pilling.Tester feedback from Allure contributor Jessica KasparianAccordionItemContainerButtonJessica Kasparian says this sunscreen has a dreamy texture that’s easy to reapply: “This is one of the first zinc oxide-based SPFs I tried and actually liked. It feels creamy while I’m rubbing it in and it has a soft matte finish (read: it doesn’t make my face look shiny or powdery).”Sunscreen type/key ingredientsAccordionItemContainerButtonchemical and mineral/niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, vitamin EBest Drugstore: La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra Light Fluid Sunscreen SPF 60La Roche-PosayAnthelios Ultra Light Fluid Sunscreen SPF 60Why it's worth it: The La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra Light Fluid Sunscreen SPF 60 provides all of the lightweight, oil-free sun protection you could ever ask for, which is why it won a Best of Beauty Award in 2024. It feels more like a primer on the skin, thanks to its silky matte finish, and makeup beautifully layers on top. Along with giving your skin broad-spectrum SPF 60, it offers up a dose of senna alata, a tropical leaf extract that's rich in free radical damage-reducing antioxidants.Tester feedback from senior news editor Nicola Dall’AsenAccordionItemContainerButton“It delivers a no-nonsense, no-cast, no-rubbing-in-for-20-minutes sunscreen—a dream come true for a girl like me, who dreads daily sunscreen application. It protects from the sun quickly and without the greasy-feeling mess and chemical smell that sunscreen can often leave behind, all at a reasonable drugstore price."Sunscreen type/key ingredientsAccordionItemContainerButtonchemical/senna alata, thermal spring water, vitamin EOther sunscreens for oily skin to considerIf you have easily-inflamed skin, the Supergoop Mineral Mattescreen Sunscreen SPF 40 ($40) is worth a shot, since it’s lightweight and calming. It has a lightweight formula that guards against damaging sun rays while antioxidant-rich bamboo extracts protect against free radical damage and lightly condition the skin.If you want something sweat- and water-resistant, the Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield SPF 50 ($49) has your back. It’s resistant for 40 minutes, so you can take an extra-long dip in the pool or do an extra lap on your run without worrying about the formula wearing off.If you’re worried about pollution, the Alastin HydraTint Pro Mineral Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 36 ($64) contains ectoin, which helps defend skin against blue light and pollution. Its lightweight formula is non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog pores, and it gives skin a healthy sheen without looking greasy. If you’re on a budget, consider picking up the Cetaphil Sheer Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50. Marisa Garshick, MD, a board-certified dermatologist in New York City, says the Cetaphil Sheer Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 gets her seal of approval for oily skin types because of its lightweight feel and impressive oil control. "This mineral sunscreen dries and won't leave the skin feeling greasy, making it a great option for those with oily skin," she says. "It also contains vitamin E to protect against free radical damage." Bonus: This face sunscreen is hypoallergenic, fragrance- and paraben-free, and packed with soothing ingredients, making it a winner for those prone to redness.Frequently Asked QuestionsShould oily skin use mineral sunscreen? You can if that’s your preference. According to Corona Del Mar-based board-certified dermatologist Stefani Kappel, MD, start with oil-free, mineral sunscreens that contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. "These not only offer better protection against UVA and UVB rays, but they're naturally less comedogenic, or acne-causing, than chemical sunscreens," she says. (That said, chemical sunscreens do offer big advantages; they're usually easier to blend into deeper skin tones, and feel lightweight on skin, which is why we've included some good options for oily types in the below list.)Which ingredients should you avoid in a sunscreen for oily skin?In addition to the type of sunscreen filter, steer clear of formulas that contain pore-clogging oils, like coconut, soybean, and wheat germ oils. While they're ideal for dry skin (and worth considering if you have combination skin), they may inadvertently activate sebum production, which can be a problem for a skin type that already has larger oil-producing sebaceous glands.Meet the expertsViktoryia Kazlouskaya, MD, a board-certified dermatologist based in BrooklynJeannette Graf, MD, a board-certified dermatologist and professor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine based in New York CityMarisa Garshick, MD, a board-certified dermatologist based in New York CityStefani Kappel, MD, a board-certified dermatologist based in Corona Del MarHow we test and review productsWhen Allure tests a product, our editors look at it from every angle in an effort to best serve you. Scentbird has carved out a firm foothold in the fragrance world, turning a once-intimidating luxury category into something approachable, affordable, and refreshingly modern. With more than 900 designer and niche scents in its rotation—from legacy houses like Gucci and Prada to cult favorites like Montale—the platform offers a curated, low-commitment way to experiment with scent. For $16.95 a month, subscribers receive an 8mL vial (roughly 120 sprays) of their chosen fragrance, housed in a sleek, travel-ready atomizer. It’s just enough to wear daily for 30 days, without the regret of shelling out for a full bottle that doesn’t hit the right note. And with an estimated 500,000+ active users, many Scentbird reviews find that this company isn’t a fleeting trend but a mainstay in modern grooming routines. What Sets Scentbird Apart? While plenty of fragrance subscription startups have come and gone, Scentbird continues to stand out for its depth of selection, gender-inclusive options, and flexibility. You can skip a month, or queue up multiple scents directly into your monthly delivery. Whether you’re testing the waters of Tom Ford Oud Wood, revisiting a classic like Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, or dabbling in something more experimental, Scentbird makes the process frictionless. Their scent profile quiz is optional, but helpful. And their regular rotation of trending and seasonal picks ensures your queue stays current. Key Takeaways Fragrance Freedom: With over 900 scents on tap, Scentbird offers an unmatched range of designer and niche options. Customizable Subscriptions: Choose 1–3 items per month, pause anytime, or explore additional categories like skincare and grooming. Premium Scents, Fraction of the Cost: Each vial costs less than a cocktail but lasts around a month of daily wear. Travel-Friendly, User-Loved: Subscribers praise the sleek packaging and portability—though some cite minor shipping delays or slow customer service as occasional drawbacks. Best For Explorers: Ideal for anyone who wants to test-drive luxury scents without splurging on full bottles. Premium Surcharge Alert: Some ultra-luxury fragrances require an additional $5–$15 fee on top of the base subscription price. Shipping and Support Can Lag: While most deliveries are smooth, some users report occasional shipping delays and slow customer service response times. Not Ideal for Purists: Hardcore fragrance collectors may find the decant-only model and limited access to rare/exclusive scents a bit limiting. What Is Scentbird? Scentbird is a monthly subscription service designed to democratize the fragrance experience. Each month, you pick from an extensive catalog of over 900 fragrances, then receive an 8mL spray vial in a minimalist case that’s equal parts functional and stylish. It’s a smart way to build out your scent wardrobe—without ever committing to one signature fragrance (or paying $150+ to find out it wasn’t for you). The platform caters to both fragrance aficionados and newcomers looking to expand their palette. In recent years, Scentbird has gone beyond perfume, offering curated skincare, grooming essentials, and wellness products from emerging and established brands alike. Think of it as a luxury lifestyle sampler—tailored, affordable, and refreshingly low-effort. With transparent pricing, editorial-style curation, and a growing lineup of brands, Scentbird has managed to turn sampling into something that feels smart, stylish, and intentional. If you’re into variety, and your grooming routine leans premium, this might be your new favorite monthly ritual. How Scentbird Works Scentbird is a monthly subscription service that lets me sample designer fragrances and personal care products without buying a full-size bottle upfront. Each step is guided to make discovering new scents simple and affordable. Subscription Plans Scentbird offers flexible subscription plans depending on how many scents I want to try each month. I can select one, two, or three fragrances per shipment with prices starting as low as $16.95 per month for a single scent. If I upgrade to multiple scents, the monthly rate per bottle decreases slightly. Sometimes Scentbird runs promotional offers or discounts for new members, but the core value centers on the ability to test high-end brands like Versace, Gucci, and Tom Ford at a fraction of retail price.  Ordering Process Ordering with Scentbird is straightforward. After creating my profile, I browse a large fragrance catalog — over 900 options — and add my top choices to my monthly lineup. I can sort by gender, scent profile, customer ratings, expert picks and so on. Each fragrance page provides detailed notes, brand history, and aggregated customer reviews to help me make informed selections. Scentbird also gives me a personalized scent quiz to recommend options based on my preferences, making the ordering process even more tailored. Delivery Experience Once my selections are finalized, Scentbird ships each order in a secure 8ml vial designed for a month of daily spritzes. Packages typically arrive within 5 to 7 business days after processing. Orders include a reusable atomizer and a travel-friendly pouch. Most deliveries are shipped with reliable tracking through USPS. Customer reviews indicate packaging is sturdy and breakage is rare, with prompt support available if any issues arise. The subscription service renews monthly but I have easy access to skip, pause, or cancel on my account dashboard for added flexibility. Scentbird Reviews: User Experiences After deep research, I found that most subscribers find Scentbird to be a convenient and enjoyable way to explore new designer fragrances every month. The variety and flexibility cater to people who want to experiment with scents before committing to a full-size bottle. Positive Customer Feedback A large segment of reviewers praise Scentbird for its affordable access to luxury brands like Versace, Burberry, and Gucci. Many users mention that the 8ml vial size is perfect for sampling and travel, lasting approximately a month with daily use. I notice frequent mentions of Scentbird’s wide catalog and the ability to customize a queue as major draws. People who love discovering trending perfumes and colognes appreciate the option to get personalized recommendations via the scent quiz. Subscribers often comment on the packaging, describing the vials as both secure and attractive, with a travel-friendly case included on the first order. The shipping process garners positive remarks for its reliability—most users report receiving their monthly fragrance within a week of shipment. Many customers feel that the price of $16.95 per vial is fair for high-end samples, with some stating that trying several scents per year costs less than one full-size luxury bottle. Common Complaints Despite strong reviews, some users report frustrations with shipping delays, most often during promotional periods or holidays. There are reports of slow customer service response times, particularly for cancellation or refund requests. A few customers mention occasional issues with receiving duplicate scents or incorrect selections, though these are not widespread. Another common complaint highlights the challenges with Scentbird’s scent quiz and recommendation system. Some users feel the suggested fragrances miss the mark, resulting in selections that do not match personal preferences. While the value proposition is good for most users, there is occasional dissatisfaction with the smaller sample vial size, especially among those who expected more than a 30-day supply. While Scentbird reviews are largely positive, newcomers should be prepared for occasional delays and ensure they understand the subscription’s sample size and account management features. Scentbird Vs. Competitors Scentbird faces stiff competition from several other fragrance subscription services on the market. Each brand tries to stand out with its own pricing structure, fragrance selection and features. After researching popular alternatives like ScentBox and Luxury Scent Box I found some key distinctions worth highlighting. Price Comparison When comparing prices Scentbird’s starting plan is $16.95 for one 8ml vial per month. ScentBox offers a similar service at $16.95 per month as well while Luxury Scent Box is also competitively priced at $16.95 (do you think they know about each other?). Scentbird sometimes runs promotions for new subscribers but standard monthly pricing is about even with its closest competitors. Subscribers looking to sample more than one scent a month will notice Scentbird’s multi-scent plans cost roughly $25 for two vials or $35 for three. ScentBox charges $22.95 for two and $29.95 for three. Luxury Scent Box averages about $21 for two vials each month. All these services include free shipping but Scentbird’s pricing stays on par with or slightly above the rest if you want to try more than one fragrance at a time. The biggest savings come for those only interested in one monthly scent. Service 1 Bottle/Month 2 Bottles/Month 3 Bottles/Month Shipping Scentbird $16.95 $25.00 $35.00 Free ScentBox $16.95 $22.95 $29.95 Free Luxury Scent Box $16.95 $21.00* Varies Free *(Some variation based on selected plan) Variety and Quality of Fragrances Where Scentbird sets itself apart is the sheer size of its catalog. With more than 900 fragrances, including designer and niche brands. Scentbird partners with favorites like Gucci, Versace, Prada and frequently updates its collection with trending and exclusive brands. Quality is another consideration — Scentbird claims to only provide authentic and new-in-box fragrances, not decants or knock-offs. Third-party sources like Trustpilot and Reddit confirm that Scentbird’s vials are genuine and fresh, with most customers rating both scent quality and variety highly. Competitors like ScentBox and Luxury Scent Box guarantee authenticity too, but their smaller catalogs might limit certain niche or luxury scent options that Scentbird provides. For fragrance lovers who want to access trending releases and exotic brands, Scentbird’s larger and frequently updated list gives it an edge. Scentbird reviews across popular platforms continually mention the benefit of being able to try hard-to-find fragrances, stay current with new launches, and access a broad spectrum of scents for both men and women. That diversity and flexibility make Scentbird the most comprehensive choice in the monthly fragrance subscription market. Is Scentbird Worth It? When I break down the value of Scentbird, a few key themes stand out: affordability, selection, subscription flexibility, and the real user experience. The question of whether Scentbird is worth it really boils down to how much you value variety and convenience in exploring luxury fragrances and personal care products. Affordability and Product Value Paying $16.95 for an 8ml designer fragrance sample may not sound like a bargain at first. However, I consider that most full-sized luxury perfume bottles cost $70 to $120 or more, making Scentbird a low-risk way to sample high-end scents before committing. Each sample generally lasts about 30 days if used as recommended. For people who like to switch up their fragrance frequently or are unsure about spending on a full-size bottle, this subscription saves money and offers ongoing variety. Fragrance and Product Selection Scentbird’s catalog boasts over 900 options, including popular luxury brands like Versace, Gucci, and Tom Ford, along with niche discoveries and trending seasonal picks. The ability to select any scent each month, rather than receiving random choices, makes it easy for me to tailor the subscription to my preferences. This selection outpaces most competitors, giving Scentbird an edge for anyone who loves exploring new fragrances regularly. Subscription Flexibility One of the main perks is flexibility. Scentbird lets me adjust my monthly shipment—choosing one, two, or three items—and pausing or canceling the subscription without penalty. Managing my account is straightforward, and I can skip a month if needed. This adaptability is ideal for busy schedules or evolving scent preferences. Customer Experience and Service Based on hundreds of Scentbird reviews online, most users praise the convenience and packaging, noting that the atomizers are travel-friendly and secure. On the downside, a minority of subscribers mention shipping delays and slow customer service, especially during peak seasons or sales events. If prompt delivery is critical to me, I weigh these occasional issues carefully. Scent quiz results are generally helpful, though not every user finds their recommended picks spot-on. Comparison to Competitors Compared to other subscription boxes like ScentBox and Luxury Scent Box, Scentbird stands out for its larger fragrance catalog and frequent exclusive partnerships. While pricing is similar, Scentbird’s brand options and curated sets provide extra value that fragrance enthusiasts appreciate. Scentbird also guarantees product authenticity, a reassurance not offered by every subscription service. My Takeaway Scentbird is worth it for me if I want to experiment with luxury and niche scents at a manageable monthly price, appreciate the control over monthly selections, and do not mind the occasional shipping hiccup. For travelers, gift seekers, and anyone eager to expand their fragrance wardrobe without upfront commitment, Scentbird offers flexibility and choice that is hard to find elsewhere. Final Verdict When it comes to Scentbird reviews, one thing is clear: the brand has made sampling designer fragrances more accessible, stylish, and cost-effective than ever before. With a starting price of $16.95 a month and a catalog boasting over 900 fragrances, Scentbird delivers serious value for anyone looking to expand their scent wardrobe without committing to full-size bottles. The flexibility to customize your subscription—plus the option to add grooming and skincare products—makes the service feel fresh and tailored, not cookie-cutter. Packaging is sleek, the atomizers are travel-friendly, and the constant influx of trending and classic scents keeps things exciting. That said, it’s not without a few caveats. Some premium fragrances come with extra surcharges, and while most deliveries are smooth, shipping delays and customer service lag can occasionally be an issue. And for hardcore fragrance enthusiasts hunting for rare, boutique, or ultra-niche scents, Scentbird’s curated approach might feel a little too mainstream. Overall, Scentbird hits the sweet spot for casual fragrance lovers and style-conscious shoppers who crave variety, convenience, and a low-commitment way to explore luxury scents. If you’re the kind of guy who changes his watch to match his outfit, you’ll appreciate changing your fragrance to match your mood—without blowing your budget. Whether in soft pastels or bold jewel tones, a well-fitted maxi dress is sure to be an instant showstopper for church. #9. Lacy numbers Photo: @edaowofashion/Instagram Lace is timeless, and in 2025, it’s being reimagined in subtle yet striking ways. Full lace church dresses, lace-trimmed hems, and peek-a-boo lace sleeves bring just the right amount of vintage charm while maintaining a modern edge. Choose midi or tea-length designs for the perfect balance of sophistication and modesty. #10. Shirt dress Photo: @naomi/Instagram Blending casual elegance, the shirt dress is an effortless way to look polished without trying too hard. With cinched waists, flowing hemlines, and crisp collars, it has become a modern church favorite. Pair this versatile piece with ankle boots during the colder months or sleek sandals for spring and summer services, and you’ve got a stylish look for any season. Gracie Lawrence’s Broadway “audition” for Just in Time wasn’t traditional in the least. While other theater kids were racking up Playbill credits, the 28-year-old was putting out music for her soul-pop outfit Lawrence. What started as a duo with her brother Clyde in 2015 has grown into an eight-piece ensemble with four studio albums, performances at Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Outside Lands, and a burgeoning A-list fan base — including director Alex Timbers, who Lawrence had heard was a fan of the band. Years after their initial meeting, “he reached out and said, ‘I see a connection between you and this artist. If you’re interested, let me know,’” she tells NYLON.That artist turned out to be ’50s vocalist Connie Francis, whose legacy Lawrence now brings to life eight shows a week in Just in Time, the buzzy new musical that follows the life of Bobby Darin, played by Jonathan Groff. Unless you count Lawrence’s now-TikTok-famous scene in Sex Lives of College Girls in which she belts out “Never Enough,” she hasn’t been on a theater stage since she was 12. Understandably, she says she still gets nervous for almost everything; what fuels her, however, is hearing from fans. “I met someone at the stage door who was like, ‘I love the way you sang this.’ And I said, ‘Oh, how did it come off to you?’ And she said, ‘Like Gracie with a twist.’”Here, Lawrence speaks with NYLON about her new Broadway gig, her prized record collection, and which one of her Sex Lives co-stars has seen the show.Congratulations on Just In Time. I caught a preview, and you played Connie Francis so beautifully. How are you feeling about opening night?I’m excited. This is all such a new process to me. The only other time I was in a Broadway show [Brighton Beach Memoirs] was when I was 12, and it was such a different experience. I just tried on my dress right before this interview.Connie has such a distinct voice. How did you prepare for the role?I’m a real nerd for singers. I love learning how different singers use their voices. So it’s been fun going really deep on Connie’s records and playing around with my own voice to see how her choices sit in mine. Some of them I’ve adopted. Some I’ve said, “I think it sounds better in my voice to sing it as me.”What’s amazing about the show is it’s not impressions. We’re trying to bring the spirit and ethos of these incredible artists to a modern audience, for both people who might have been fans of Connie, and to a whole younger generation that might be coming in not knowing much about those artists. So there are little ways in which all of us are doing mannerisms or some vocal stylings from those artists, but, overall, we’re trying to bring ourselves to the artists we’re playing. What was the most difficult song for you to sing?“Who’s Sorry Now?” because you have to sing it perfectly. It’s so exposed. Every note is heard. The balance of singing emotionally, going through the heartbreak she experiences every night, while also wanting to deliver a pitch-perfect performance is a really challenging task. It’s one I assume Connie herself was navigating while performing the song as well at the pinnacle of her career, and she’s just been put through the ringer emotionally behind the scenes. I think about that a lot.Is that something you relate to?I’ve been touring for 10 years. Sometimes I’ll have an amazing day, and it's easy to go on stage, sing, perform, and be in front of an audience. And then other days, whether you’re grieving someone or going through a breakup, the tour goes on, and so you have to put on this face as a performer where you both want to be authentic but also not drag unnecessary baggage into your performance. You and Jonathan have amazing chemistry. Do you remember the first time you sang with him?On my first day, we jumped into that song Jonathan and I sing together, “First Real Love.” I sang for like five seconds then Jonathan just looked at me with — I don’t know if it was surprise — but he was like, “Sing!” It was amazing, especially being such a fan of Jonathan going into the process. He’s the best at making everyone feel so comfortable. Within five minutes of meeting him, you’re joking around. He brings the best out of everyone. That’s among his many gifts. The artists you all play in the show would be so fun to listen to on vinyl. What’s your sound system like at home?I regrettably do not have a record player. It’s a real bummer because I actually have a pretty good record collection for someone who can’t play any they own. I have a love affair with album covers. It’s something I think about and draw a lot of inspiration from for Lawrence, working on our own album art. I love thinking about album art that means a lot to me, and inside covers and back panels and all that stuff. In an interview, you said you related to your Sex Lives of College Girls character, Kacey, because you “get nerves every single time” you perform. How has that changed since the previews? It hasn’t changed. When people hear that, they get so concerned! It’s adrenaline. It’s a product of caring a lot and having so much energy going into the performance. I always want each performance to be better than the last, so it’s the challenge I’m giving myself that makes me the most nervous.Speaking of the show, who’s the last person you texted from Sex Lives of College Girls?I text and see them all very frequently. I just saw Alyah [Chanelle Scott] in All Nighter. She was amazing. Pauline [Chalamet] just came to visit me at Just In Time. I texted Amrit [Kaur] very recently, and she’s always so supportive of everything I do. It's a very close-knit group, which is hopefully what people perceive onscreen. For those who don’t know, your dad, Mark Lawrence, wrote Miss Congeniality and Music & Lyrics. What’s the best advice he’s given you on working in the industry?Probably a quote from Bill Goldman, an amazing writer who was a mentor to him: “Nobody knows anything.” I think of it like no one has the exact same path you have. There are so many women in music, theater, and television I admire, but they don’t have exactly the same story. So if you have a new idea or way of doing something, believe in yourself. You’re gonna get a lot of nos in this industry. That’s just the nature of it. Don’t let those nos or people who might not get you cause you to lose faith in your own shtick.Terry Wyatt/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty ImagesYou’re going on another North American tour with your brother soon.Yeah, in the fall. I’m so excited. I feel like this last album we put out, Family Business, encapsulates everything we’re about as a band, family, and business. So [we’ll do] as much touring as we can do for this album, the more the better. I’m just excited for people to keep hearing these songs. There’s nothing like being in front of an audience that sings your songs back to you. That’s such a contrast to Broadway where everybody’s quiet.Very silent. Although I will say, with [Just In Time], people really get into it. After I finished “Who's Sorry Now?” the other night, someone yelled, “Bravissimo!”This has been edited and condensed for clarity. The Congressional Budget Office recently projected that Social Security could face a cash-flow crunch in 10 years. If no changes are made to the program’s funding structure, benefits would have to shrink by 23% in 2035. This is problematic for many U.S. households that rely on Social Security as a primary income source or are still working but have limited retirement savings. Many of you fall into the latter category. Like me, you’re still working, but retirement is closer than we’d like to admit. And no matter how much you have saved, it’s scary to give up your paycheck — while retaining your taste for stylish clothes, amazing food, and memorable adventures. So, let’s talk about five new strategies to help lock in the comfortable retirement we deserve. Source: Canva. Gamify your wealth The problem with traditional retirement advice is that it’s boring. Adding up what you spend, making a budget, tracking performance against your budget, prioritizing paying off debt…it’s all about as interesting as Charlie Brown’s teacher. If you can’t stand to budget or track your spending, there is another way. Try making it a personal game to spend less on everything. While this strategy isn’t as precise as setting spending limits, it is vastly more motivating. The way you implement this will vary based on your shopping habits, but here are some examples: Challenge yourself to spend less on groceries this week versus last week. Repeat the challenge every week until you’re a master of getting more from your food budget. Try shopping from the sale flyer and buying generic products. Experiment with vegetarian meals by swapping tofu into your favorite recipes. Embrace cheap ingredients like rice and dried beans, both of which you can cook up easily in an Instant Pot. Swear off impulse buys. Don’t buy anything without price-shopping and looking for coupon codes. Browser extensions like Rakuten and PayPal Honey make this easy, at least when you’re shopping online. Use cashback apps and loyalty programs to your full advantage. I have earned thousands from loyalty programs, cashback credit cards, receipt apps and, yes, even the apps that pay you to play games. Do your own nails and get a low-maintenance haircut. You can save thousands annually by limiting your salon visits. Never assume you have the lowest price on recurring purchases. I recently realized that the “subscribe-and-save” price I was paying to Amazon for a certain product was higher than the going rate at a store near my house. My mistake? Blindly assuming Amazon had the best deal. Don’t do that. Always price-shop your recurring purchases, whether it’s a bottle of SPF moisturizer or your car insurance.   Invest more and here’s how Investing more today could be your most impactful wealth-building strategy. This is a simple, mathematical truth. Say you are 50 and you hope to retire at 65. The money you invest now has 15 years to grow. The money you invest in 10 years has less potential because it only has five years to grow. And yes, the normal ups and downs of the stock market ensure that your investment growth will not be linear. But you can lessen the uncertainty by investing every month. In investing-speak, this is called dollar-cost averaging. A small regular investment can benefit your bottom line more than larger, periodic investments. Try these strategies to invest more: Raise your 401(k) contribution rate. Because traditional 401(k) contributions are pretax, they reduce income taxes withheld from your pay. For this reason, when you raise your contribution, you see a smaller reduction in your net pay. It’s kind of like free money. Take advantage. Start investing $15 monthly in a taxable brokerage account. Open a no-fee brokerage account and set up automated investments. Pick an amount you won’t miss. If you are gamifying your wealth as recommended above, those habits should unlock at least $15 monthly. Start there or go higher if you can afford it. If you don’t know what to invest in, pick an S&P 500 fund with a low expense ratio. Tackle the debt High-rate debt is a nasty wealth problem. It consumes your hard-earned cash with interest charges that add no value to your life. Here is the process for paying down debt: Reduce your regular spending so your debt balances aren’t rising monthly. You can’t stop using the credit cards until your budget balances. Chop up the credit cards. Don’t close them as this can lower your credit score. Pick one debt account to pay down at a time. It makes sense to start with the highest interest rate, but you could also start with the lowest balance for a quick win. Pay the first account off and move to the next one. Repeat until you are debt-free. Only consolidate debt into a longer-term loan as a last resort. Whether you use home equity or a debt consolidation loan, these facilities tend to introduce more problems than they solve. Consider balance transfers only if you commit to repaying the full balance before the promotional rate expires. Know that if you can’t get past the first step above, you will need to go the traditional route: Make a budget and enforce spending limits on yourself. Also consider recruiting some close friends to be your debt support group. Love your job Loving your job is an overlooked wealth strategy. When you know what aspects of your job you enjoy the most, it’s easier to identify: Related career paths that can raise your income Side hustle ideas that could grow into a business Part-time roles that could replace your full-time gig in case you want to slow-roll into retirement Feeling fulfilled at the end of your workday also keeps you sharp and healthy. You may be willing and able to work longer — say into your 70s — and spend less on medical bills as a result. Both efforts contribute to greater wealth later in life. Know yourself   Have you ever bought something you ended up hardly using? You’re not alone. In 2023, GoBankingRates quoted these shocking statistics about non-essential purchases: Americans spend $3,768 on impulse buys, according to Ramsey Solutions. Americans throw away 11.3 million tons of clothes annually according to Earth.org. Americans spend an average of $18,000 annually on nonessential purchases as reported by Vox. The trick to stemming unnecessary purchases is knowing yourself well enough to make disciplined shopping decisions. Often, the strongest urges to buy don’t come from need. You might instead be frustrated, bored, excited, or stressed out. Understanding those feelings and how they impact your spending is an important aspect of good financial management. Even if you can’t quite identify the motivations behind your spending, you can implement some practical strategies to slow the impulse buys. One effective strategy is a waiting period. Before you buy anything other than food or gas, make yourself wait 24 hours before you complete the transaction. In that time, consider why you want the item and how it will add value to your life. Wealth strategies for the retirement you want The reality is that Social Security won’t fund a stylish and interesting retirement, in its current state or any future state. That’s why it’s critical to take charge of your finances now. Small efforts to curb spending, invest more, pay down debt, and find enjoyment in work will pay off over time. Your future self will thank you for the wealth and confidence you built in the process. Source link

Kendrick Lamar is a generational voice whose songs carry weight far beyond the charts. With a career spanning over a decade, he has delivered some of the most impactful, introspective, and genre-defining music in hip-hop history. From his breakout mixtapes to Grammy-winning albums, every Kendrick Lamar project feels like a cultural moment crafted with intention and layered with meaning. Now, as he gears up for his National Grand GNX Tour and continues to dominate 2025 with standout tracks like “Luther” and the viral hit “Not Like Us,” there’s no better time to reflect on the greatest Kendrick Lamar songs of all time. These are the tracks that shaped conversations, challenged systems, and showcased his evolution from Compton prodigy to Pulitzer Prize-winning icon. So, which Kendrick Lamar songs truly define his legacy? It’s no easy feat to narrow down such a rich and transformative discography. Yet, after sifting through the storytelling, the wordplay, the cultural commentary, and the sonic evolution, we’ve compiled a definitive list of the 15 best Kendrick Lamar songs—ranked. Whether you’re a longtime fan who’s memorized every bar or a newcomer curious about why Kendrick Lamar is held in such high regard, this list is your perfect deep dive. From powerful protest anthems to introspective gems and experimental cuts, these tracks capture the essence of an artist who has never been afraid to challenge the status quo—or himself. Here are the top 15 best Kendrick Lamar songs ranked… #15. “Sing About Me (I’m Dying of Thirst)” (2012) Off good kid, m.A.A.d city, this 12-minute opus stands out as one of Kendrick Lamar’s most vulnerable storytelling tracks. It delves into themes of mortality, legacy, and the burden of being the voice of the voiceless. With its layered narrative and minimalistic production, it feels less like a song and more like a short film. #14. “Rigamortis” (2011) Before good kid, m.A.A.d city, Kendrick was already cooking heat. “Rigamortis” is pure technical wizardry—rapid-fire rhymes delivered over jazz-infused horns. More importantly, it proved early on that Kendrick Lamar wasn’t just another new rapper, but a force to be reckoned with. #13. “Ronald Reagan Era (His Evils)” feat. RZA (2011) Here, Kendrick revisits the aftermath of the Reagan years through the lens of Compton’s streets. Moreover, the social commentary runs deep, and his delivery is as gritty as the history it references. It’s easily one of the most politically charged Kendrick Lamar songs to date. #12. “King Kunta” (2015) A funky rebellion from To Pimp a Butterfly, “King Kunta” blends satire, bravado, and racial commentary. Additionally, Kendrick calls out the music industry and asserts his dominance with swagger and style. The beat slaps, and the message hits even harder. #11. “Untitled 05 | 09.21.2014” (2016) From untitled unmastered., this track proves that even Kendrick’s throwaways surpass most artists’ polished singles. With jazzy production and existential musings, it captures the raw, creative chaos of the To Pimp a Butterfly sessions. #10. “m.A.A.d City” feat. MC Eiht (2012) Chaotic, cinematic, and completely unfiltered, this is Kendrick Lamar’s musical diary entry from his days growing up in Compton. It’s full of tension, storytelling, and generational pain. Few Kendrick Lamar songs match this one’s visceral energy. #9. “Euphoria” (2024) One of Kendrick’s latest and most scathing songs, “Euphoria,” delivers sharp, menacing bars in his lyrical feud with Drake. It’s confident and cutting—another reminder that Kendrick’s pen is simply unmatched. #8. “A.D.H.D.” (2011) An early anthem for a lost generation, Kendrick critiques prescription pill culture, emotional detachment, and youthful confusion with a laid-back flow. This track highlighted his unique ability to turn societal issues into introspective, impactful bangers. #7. “Swimming Pools (Drank)” (2012) A haunting dive into alcoholism and peer pressure, wrapped in a club-friendly package, “Swimming Pools” showcases Kendrick’s brilliance in giving mainstream hits real meaning. This track is a perfect example of his ability to balance deep themes with infectious beats. #6. “HUMBLE.” (2017) With its infectious beat and iconic hook, “HUMBLE.” became one of Kendrick Lamar’s biggest commercial hits. But beyond the flex, it’s a cultural statement. From its commentary on beauty standards to its minimalist visuals, the track makes a lasting impact. #5. “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe” (2012) One of the smoothest Kendrick Lamar songs ever made, it’s introspective, spiritual, and dripping with emotion. The track serves as both a personal mantra and a universal mood. #4. “Backseat Freestyle” (2012) Lyrical fireworks, “Backseat Freestyle” showcases Kendrick having fun while demonstrating his versatility and technical mastery. It’s chaotic, wild, and deeply entertaining, with bars that are still quoted years later. #3. “Money Trees” feat. Jay Rock (2012) Chill yet reflective, “Money Trees” remains a fan favorite. The hypnotic beat and standout feature from Jay Rock complement Kendrick’s verse about dreams, crime, and the pursuit of better days. The song masterfully blends poetry with power. #2. “Not Like Us” (2024) The ultimate moment in Kendrick Lamar’s 2024 takeover, “Not Like Us,” is a diss track with anthem-level energy. Produced by DJ Mustard, it’s witty, danceable, and devastating—a rare combo that only Kendrick could pull off so effortlessly. #1. “Alright” (2015) No Kendrick Lamar song has had the cultural resonance of “Alright.” Indeed, it became an anthem for the Black Lives Matter movement and a symbol of hope during protest and pain. From its Pharrell-produced hook to Kendrick’s passionate verses, “Alright” is not just the best Kendrick Lamar song; it’s arguably one of the most important songs of the 21st century. Whether you’re revisiting these tracks or discovering them for the first time, this list captures the essence of Kendrick Lamar’s artistry. His ability to balance commercial appeal with deep storytelling is unparalleled. From Section.80 to Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, the best Kendrick Lamar songs reflect a legacy that is still unfolding—one unforgettable track at a time.
