The fact that the show is named ‘The Owl House’ and not after Luz herself is honestly kind of cool in my opinion. Because yes, Luz is the protagonist, but the show is much larger than her. It’s about this cast of characters we’ve grown to love and their relationships to each other— ranging from friendships, to romance, to familial, and so on. And it circles around the Owl House because that’s their safe place. Literally and figuratively. It’s where Eda and King hide out from the law and it’s where Luz feels most like herself. It’s where Eda disclosed her curse status and where Luz first did magic.
And then she coaxes others in.
It’s where Willow and Gus solidified their bond with Luz. It’s where Amity can go now, away from her parents and siblings but no longer lonely, like she was at the library. It’s going to be where Lilith and Eda fix their fractured relationship. It’s where the characters can be most themselves. Outside of the house, they’ve all got fronts to put on.
But not here. Not at the Owl House. Because it’s where they feel at home.
And I think that’s pretty neat.

lumity is the polar opposite of “when will my crush notice me :(“ no. luz will NOT leave amity alone. if amity goes to school luz will always wave and say hi, she’ll always go UP TOP and high five amity over NOTHING and she’ll tell amity wow you look so pretty today! oh is that a new hairpin? did you get a new haircut? that undercut looks so good on you! luz will also inevitably run to amity in a state of panic, confess that she did something chaotic again, something on the level of setting the school on fire, and amity will always, ALWAYS get roped into helping somehow because she Cannot say no to luz... lumity is “help, my crush WON’T stop noticing me and if she keeps this up my heart WILL explode”

look i know we all love to make fun of amity for being a flustered idiot around luz but after sitting on wilw for a while i just want to take a moment to appreciate that those scenes simply exist in the first place. for the longest time, all of the representation for wlw relationships in media was either oversexualized, full of conflict and melodrama, or forced to remain non-explicit and hidden in subtext until the show’s finale. now, we have a 14-year-old girl, explicitly confirmed to have a crush on her friend, another girl, in season one, and she acts just the way you’d expect any other 14-year-old to act around their crush: like a flustered idiot. amity and luz are just two dumb kids who both happen to be girls that are able to navigate their feelings and develop their relationship in a relatively natural and healthy environment and i am so happy for the kids that will now be able to grow up seeing this normalized in a tv show that they love.

Something I realized
So we’ve seen at least 2 impressive feats of magic performed by the younger characters thus far:
In “Hooty’s Moving Hassle”, we see Luz, Willow, and Gus manage to animate Hooty into walking around Bonesborough
While Amity’s group of “friends” failed to animate a doll
We also have “Enchanting Grom Fright”, when Amity, while dancing with Luz, manages to summon her largest abomination yet (without Lilith cheating)
This got me thinking. It seems that in those 2 instances, magic seems to be amplified depending on how much of an emotional connection the user has to anyone around them (strong friendship for the former, romantic feelings for the latter). And since we find out in “The Intruder” that magic literally comes from a magic sac of bile attached to a witch’s heart,
maybe the amplified magic is due to those elevated emotions getting the heart to beat faster, thus allowing for magic to be pumped through the body quicker
Not sure if I worded it in the best way, but you get the idea I’m going for
