broodiness in preds
this is a concept I came up with that I'm obsessed with.
Basically, preds have the ability to go through a type of broodiness (similar to various avian and reptile species) that makes them obsessively desire to consume prey and keep them inside their bodies. It's very much an endosoma concept, with the pred showing physiological and behavioral changes, and an INTENSE drive to reach their end goal of having their prey inside them, tucked away safe and sound, warm, protected, and all theirs. It's a common mating and social bonding practice.
Many things on the prey's part can trigger broodiness in preds, from the prey being scared, shy, submissive, hurt, ill, or even cold from the elements. Usually triggered by the pred's mate (though it could also be a crush, or a friend or even acquaintance they have a sudden affection or possessiveness/protective feelings for), the pred will start feeling an intense warmth and possessiveness, a desire to envelope them entirely and protect them from threats.
This will cause them to puff out their chest, get dilated pupils, and fluff up (if they have fur/feathers). Some preds might even go through physical changes, such as developing more body fat, thicker fur, or special patches of brooding fur/feathers. Oxytocin will be released like crazy. They'll start to feel deeply warm and fluttery feelings in the belly, and an intense desire for it to be filled with their desired prey. It can reach a point of broody-drunkenness in some.
This may be accompanied by intense "hunger pains", and internal muscle spasms on the pred's part. They actually become physically starved for their desired prey.
Further signs of broodiness could start by the pred just being closer in general. They'll want to always have physical contact. Affectionate grooming behaviors will increase, such as licking or brushing the hair. This is especially apparent with feline preds as they'll lick their desired prey raw with the barbs on their tongue, but every species of pred shows initial signs of broodiness in different ways. Some will even give you a whole spa day just to be close to you and preen and pamper, and massage you!
Heavy drooling, and rubbing up against the prey will always be initial signs of broodiness. Preds will tend to rub up against/massage/squish their prey to a point where it can become painful for the prey. Think of it as cuteness aggression on overdrive, as well as a way for preds to mark the prey with their scent.
Preds may also become obsessed with "keeping their prey warm", by putting blankets over them, warming them with their body heat, or even giving them a hot soup or beverage. Nesting behavior will begin here as well.
Some preds may create an exaggerated "purring" sound or "shivering" sensation to increase warmth and a sense of well-being while cuddling. This is why most preds purr, even non-felines!
Symptoms will then get more intense and physical. The pred will start trying to "envelope" their prey with their body in any way they can. Snuggling, cuddling, leaning against the prey, very powerful hugs, and mouthing are common. Lovey-dovey affectionate feelings will intensify, leading to intense warmth throughout the pred's body, and an increasing hunger toward the prey. This hunger is indistinguishable from the broody and affectionate feelings.
While broody feelings can be mild or temporary with proper self control, preds will sometimes become feral to varying degrees and obsessed with devouring their prey to keep them safe, and "theirs". They might develop aggression to anyone who comes near the prey, and this will only intensify the desire to consume them in order to protect them and possess them. Preds may lay on top of their prey entirely before finally succumbing to devouring them whole.
This can be an inconvenience for the prey, as the pred may spend hours or even days lounging in a broody state with their prey in their bellies (or mouths/brooding pouches/etc).
Some preds may also exhibit "nesting" behaviors, finding the perfect comfortable hide-aways to have this special time with their prey alone, or they might stay in public areas. The latter tends to make the pred a nuisance (possibly even dangerous) and menace to everyone as feral broody feelings usually take over logic at this point.
Thankfully for the prey, broodiness in preds is usually harmless, only coming from a place of overzealous affection and protectiveness. A successful bond will cause the pred to stop producing stomach acid, thus making safe consumption of prey possible!
The pred will either stop eating anything else, only desiring their prey, or they will eat a TON of food prior to eating their prey for nourishment before the act, since again, broody preds don't usually digest their prey (eating food while broody is not recommended as it can cause indigestion). Broodiness goes hand in hand with affectionate and loving feelings, as well as extreme possessiveness and protectiveness, typically towards mates (but not always).
However, preds that DO get broody with their food are exceptionally dangerous, as nothing can stop a pred from devouring and digesting their desired prey once they get broody over them! The only way to possibly save the prey then is to use a decoy, but this isn't guaranteed to work. Possessive broodiness to a point of digestion isn't unheard of, and is a sign of underlying emotional or psychological issues. Unhealthy brooding practice can result in many dangerous and controlling behaviors, and should be corrected.
So anyway, I'm obsessed with broody preds. <3

In a reformation scenario, do you think a pred could force another pred to reform a prey?
Like, as an example. This pred (B) has an observer (A) that they love, but one day (C) snatches them up and digests them. Do you think B could eat C and still reform A after digesting C? I mean like, all of A's nutrients and cells and stuff are still technically inside C, right? And that would convert into B?
I don't know. I thought of this while eating a wal.mart brand mousse.

Cruel pred monologuing about how 'nobody will ever find you' and 'you're nothing but food now' only to pause when they feel a weird motion from their stomach and realize their prey is getting off to it.

ask game: steak, chicken, turkey
I'll put it under the cut because some graphic stuff is mentioned and also it's (kinda) long.
Steak: Do you like roleplaying as pred and/or prey? How often?
I used to a whole bunch, usually on Instagram. But most of my roleplay partners seemed to always push my buttons. Even though I'm a switch, most of the others I interacted with always forced me into a pred role or just be grossly submissive, that OR the preds I rped with would do hardcore fatal digestion while degrading and insulting me. Usually when they did that I'd respond with "well actually I cut myself free and the pred fucking dies" and then block them because Jesus fucking Christ- a warning would be nice?
I might get back into it though, if people on Tumblr are more respectful than Instagram.
Chicken: What do you like to happen to prey after they’re eaten?
Usually digestion with reformation. I don't (usually) like preds who mercilessly digest people in painful ways while people describe all the graphic depictions of someone being boiled alive gruesomely (although sometimes I can get into it). Usually I just like the tame melty stuff. Oh- and the feels. I like when the prey and pred have an emotional connection as opposed to being two random strangers. Even just coworkers or something.
Turkey: How long do you like prey being in the stomach?
Looong. Sometimes I've even thought about EXTRA long scenarios, like with the prey being half melted for weeks on end but not fully gone. I also like sentiment fat stuff because it can be used for cool horror or fluff aspects depending on your preference. Usually I imagine (in vore) that the pred keeps the prey's soul, and the prey can be semi aware of what's happening but comatose if they choose. Mostly because it fits in with my desire to die without fully committing to dying.

Betrayal vore done out of a twisted affection is underrated.
A pred who has eaten the same prey countless times, always letting them out because they wouldn't actually want to do anything to hurt them. But as more of their prey friends disappear they realize how dangerous society really is for their little friend.
Either letting the prey melt in blissful ignorance, assuming they'll be reformed like every other time.
OR
The teary reassurances from the pred as their friend struggles and pleads against them internally. They don't want to die, they don't want to be digested. But the pred knows one of these days someone else will snatch their beloved friend up, and they won't let anyone else have them.
The coos and gentle hand massaging their stomach as it works to completely claim every cell from their prey. The assurances that they still love their friend, but they can't risk letting them get eaten. The silent regret but satisfied stomach as their friend finally stops struggling.
AUGH IT HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL

I guess I have trouble with human on human stuff because I always imagine I'm the prey, and I'm somewhat big IRL, so I just have trouble imagining myself to be ridiculously overpowered by another human. I mean, it's possible obviously, duh. But there aren't a lot of people with imposing frames and height where I live so.
Shout-out to all my tall preys who find vore difficult because I like it somewhat realistic but also it's vore so it can't REALLY be realistic but also realistically there arent a bunch of 6'5+ guys or gals roaming around to eat me so I have to pine for the forest cryptid

A pred and prey, going on a date. All seems well and normal. Interestingly, the pred hardly eats their food, instead picking at it idly, disinterested. "I had a big lunch earlier," They say.
The prey believes them. Why wouldn't they?
After dinner, the pred leads the prey out to their car. They drive away, heading to a secluded parking lot, and put their car in park. Worryingly, they also lock the doors. Before the prey can ask about this, though, the pred is grabbing them, forcefully shoving them into the backseat.
It happens quickly and without warning. The prey screams and fights back as the prey climbs on top of them in the backseat. It's a brutal power struggle; the car shakes violently as the two tussle. Eventually, though, the pred is victorious. They manage to clamp their jaws down on the prey's head, and then, they start to swallow. In just a few easy, thick gulps, the prey disappears fully past the pred's lip and is forced into their cramped gut. Having successfully wrestled their meal into submission, the pred leans back in their seat, panting heavily and letting their eyes slip shut...
There's a light tapping on the window. The pred flinches, eyes shooting wide open. They roll their window down slightly, coming face-to-face with a cop.
"What's going on back here?" The cop asks. The pred subtly presses a hand into their gut, stilling its movements, before smiling and answering.
"Sorry, officer, I got lost and dropped my phone. I needed to pull over and look for it, really get down under the seats, y'know?"
The cop hums, seemingly satisfied with the pred's answer.
"I see. Well, hurry on home. There have been some disappearances lately, and we don't want that happening to you!"
"Okay, I will!" The pred says cheerfully as the officer walks away. Grinning, the pred rolls their window back up.
They know all about those disappearances... They made delicious meals, just like the morsel currently stewing in their gut.

Yes.
Prey so pathetic no pred wants to eat them. Prey who sob hysterically and curl up at the idea of their friend betraying them like that.
Prey is basically like a wet cat. Even the most bloodthirsty and cruel preds just can't bring themselves to make it worse for the pitiful creature. Nothing ever goes right for them, they're the most depressing thing on the planet. Nobody can bear to actually digest them because they already have so many problems.

I think what I really enjoy is the angst of a predator losing control. Of eating someone that meant the world to them, knowing they can't undo what they've done.
When I think of pred and prey society, I imagine bea.stars. I guess I just can't picture the system being so apathetic to prey, probably because realistically if it WAS legal and fine to eat prey the species would be endangered and preds would resort to cannibalism and society would crumble.
It would probably be taboo for preds to actually eat prey. Plus, I'm slowly making my way through the anime and it has a few ideas I like. Like a pred unintentionally giving into their instincts and devouring someone they love, and preds getting stronger after eating prey flesh (which leads to a prey sacrificing an arm or a leg to give their pred buddy a power boost.) p
My biggest problem with fantasies is that I need them to be fleshed out and make sense or I can't get into it.
