sorry i cant stand it when white people make their whole shtick into 'nonthreatening feminist' like just say you want access to the culture white supremacy has historically taken from anyone nonwhite to prop up whiteness as the Ideal and be done with it. youre not special and youre sure as shit not unique for saying 'i dont like it when things arent about me' as a white person - youre just upholding the ideals of white supremacy by demanding that everyone who isnt white allow you into their spaces and allow you to bastardize their culture in an attempt to aestheticize or 'domesticate' it so that it becomes 'acceptable' for white audiences to consume, all while telling the original curators of their own culture that theyre ridiculous for wanting to preserve what they do have away from the dominating, destructive force of white supremacy. its the equivalent to white people saying locs and braids are part of viking culture despite 1) not being related to the vikings and 2) trying to steal culture from nonwhite people in order to feel unique and special in the blank space of nonculture that white supremacy has created.

except it literally is. at every avenue people imitating and making a mockery of closed practices creates more intolerance for those who do actively participate and practice these closed cultural ideas, rituals, religions, etc. when the scraps and shreds of culture are paved away and sanded down for acceptability and 'aesthetic' and imitation all under the purview of white ideals, these closed practices become divorced from their original places and points of origin, and then anything outside of the new, 'safe' aesthetic vision of whiteness is seen as dangerous and/or unsightly.

tldr; if someone says their practice is closed, especially practices that are culturally and historically based in ethnic identity and cultural history, your position as a white person should be Shutting The Fuck Up.

ofc the white person is against closed practices being closed. fork found in kitchen. lets just ignore the fact that the vast majority of closed practices are closed because they are part of a wider ethnic cultural identity, and they are specifically closed to white people because of the historic connotations of whiteness absorbing and stripping cultural practices and identities in favor of the Strict Hegemony of what white supremacy is made of.
