me thinking about how all the news and interview people go all in on r*ylo questions for TROS hype cycle and I have to brace myself for weaving my escapism franchise with the popular ship that makes me flashback to the emotional abuser time in my life that I’m still fucked up from

Here’s my crack theory based on the Steven Universe movie poster: 

Steven Universe Z.

"'Change Your Mind; isn't the end of the Steven Universe franchise but, "'Change Your Mind' is the end to this particular story that we started writing back in 2011."

The show we’ve watched so far was akin to Dragon Ball, and the show coming up will be the series Dragon Ball Z.

Ian Jones-Quartey: I don't think it's a spoiler to say that this specific arc of Steven, 'Change Your Mind' definitively makes a definitive statement on Steven and who he is and what he thinks he is. And how he feels about it. And moving forward from now, it's going to be different.

Rebecca Sugar: Everything will be different.

Ian Jones-Quartey: Everything will be different. I really hope that if you're the kind of person who is waiting to watch like more stuff, is that you don't think of the break between "Change Your Mind" and what comes next, as like, you're waiting for more of THIS show, because this version of it is done, there's going to be more, but it's going to be different and it's going to be something new. There's a lot more to do. But, we're not coming back here, because Steven has really figured something out about himself. So this part of the story, you know, that's it.

I can’t see SU turning straight up into a battle anime like DBZ (although would I complain if it did? no.) But with the heavy DB influence on the show already, I can see them looking at the overall Dragon Ball Z run for some ideas on the next part of Steven’s life.

Then part 3 will be Steven Universe GT and he’ll get turned back into a kid and go...on another space adventure?
