I'm obviously absolutely devastated that Neighbours is cancelled again, it really doesn't hurt any less the second time around, but I can't lie, I haven't watched it much since it came back. I think I lasted about 6 weeks and it just felt... off? The show was so good when it ended and this almost was like a beige, neutered version of the show? I just couldn't connect to it, and although I've been keeping up with spoilers every day since the revival, nothing has made me think I wanted to start watching again. In my mind I can only think of the negative stories, the decisions that didn't work for me - Nicolette being recast and falling for a guy, David being brought back to be killed, the endless Melanie/Toadie/Terese/Paul saga, Toadie being axed. The show had potential in the Varga Murphys, but they alone weren't enough for me. I wish I'd found my way back to the show eventually but I guess it never gave me a reason to. So, I'm gutted, but it's twinged with a feeling that maybe I should've stayed away from the revival altogether, as it's only tarnished the memory of the show slightly.

the neighbours cancellation news is devastating to hear, especially for the cast and crew and after we just got the show back but unfortunately, it was to be expected as well which almost makes it worse.

Despite relying on nostalgia for so many years, it really feels like Neighbours has had the wheels come off and are now having to desperately course correct.

Losing one of the core four means there's just four characters that have been around for more than 10 years and only 6 longer than 5 years, neither of which longer have any long term love interests. Only Karl and Susan have been established as a couple for more than the last 2 years.

Losing David means losing a potential supercouple they could've used for decades to come as they do Karl and Susan, which leaves... Paul and Terese, who have long since become stale and uninteresting as a couple and are near impossible to root for.

They've really had to scramble to make the Stone/Harrises work to establish a family with long term connections, requiring not one but two recasts, slowly unravelling the most praised element of the finale and undoing a queer happy ending for an offensive storyline suggesting the show's first lesbian main character would be attracted to a man.

They've done a fantastic job of establishing the Rodwells and the Varga-Murphys, but I wonder if it's too little too late after the revolving door of characters in the last decade leaving the longer term cast and families barren.

I haven't really watched neighbours since the first month or so of the revival but Ryan leaving has hit me like a train. Of all the exits I was expecting, he would be second last behind Alan and Jackie. I'm absolutely devastated. Legend doesn't even cover it.
