FMP Evaluation
Overall, I am content with the outcome of my Final Major Project (FMP). I am confident that I have delivered a product of high quality, underpinned by comprehensive research. The project allowed me to pursue a topic I am deeply passionate about, offering a meaningful solution to a significant issue I have closely engaged with.
However, during the final production phase, several challenges emerged with the physical outcome. For instance, upon folding the box, I noticed issues with colour tearing along the edges despite pre-creasing with a bone fold. Additionally, the box's sides exhibited raw edges due to undersized tabs, necessitating their removal, thereby compromising the closure mechanism. I intend to address these issues before the graduate show, ensuring a flawless presentation with high-quality prints.
Regarding digital deliverables such as PDF slides and the website, while I found them satisfactory, I recognize room for improvement. I envision refining the PDF slides into a more compelling branding pitch style, enhancing their layout and incorporating action shots of children interacting with the boxes. Similarly, for the website, I aim to refine the mock-up further, ensuring higher image quality and resolving any export issues encountered. Integrating bespoke imagery and showcasing the boxes in use will further enrich the website's content for the graduate exhibition.
In conclusion, while there were some challenges encountered during the production process, I remain optimistic about the overall outcome of my FMP. I am committed to addressing any issues identified and enhancing both the physical and digital aspects of the project before the graduate show. With a focus on quality and refinement, I am confident in presenting a polished and impactful showcase of my work.

Final Test Print
I did one final test print of my box before moving forward with my final print with Jordy. This was to check for any final developments I needed to make to my box. The issues I encountered included:
Fold on the left and right side of the box is not big enough to go all the way to the base of the box - cannot be made bigger as I would need to print on A1.
Alignment on the printer is not great, creates a misalignment on the inside, however, after testing on both the viscom printer and graphics printer, I found that the graphics printer alignment was better so I will do my final print on the graphics printer.

Paper samples
After deciding on printing on the large format printer, I ordered some paper samples from GF Smith. I ordered a range of different papers in different weights, shades of white, textures etc. I decided on a paper I liked, however, when I looked at ordering it, it wasn't economically suited for a business, as it would be costing a lot per box and wouldn't make the business any profit. The price per sheet of the GF smith paper would have been 拢14.92. In the end, I found some suitable 500gsm paper from amazon which cost 拢1.69 a sheet. The images show the paper from GF smith that I would have ideally used and the cost and the paper from amazon.

Printing Options
I did some research surrounding my options for printing, these included: sending the net to a professional print company to create the box or to print at university with Jordy on the large format printer. After researching different printing companies I decided economically it wouldn't be possible. the links below show some of the printing companies I researched.

Grown-up Guide - developments
Also following from my final critique, I developed the grown-up guide in response to my feedback. We discussed that I was on the edge of where centre aligned text works and doesn't work, so to develop this component of my work, I re-aligned the text to the left to make it easier to read for the adult.

Website - Developments
Following on from my final crit feedback, I developed my website. I changed the typeface I was using to a more legible one throughout and used the 'active' typeface more sparingly as the website is designed to be used by the adult so doesn't need to appeal to the child as much but does need to be legible. I also changed the body copy underneath the 'craft, talk, support' to be one line in response to dot's feedback. I also adjusted the pages on the Touch Bar at the top slightly and adjusted the 'get making' button so it didn't feel so out of place.

Finalised box nets
The images show the finalised net for my box ready for print. The first image is the outside and the second is the inside. The weight of the lines will be decreased for printing but are heavy for the purpose of my development.

Final Critique - 1/5/24
I presented my final crit presentation to rich and dot and received some really useful feedback surrounding my project that I am going to use to develop my work. The feedback I received was:
Chrome plug in for website - gofullpage聽
Mindful of missing links
Logo is good, mind pink and green bleeding
Presentation - print box and present on slides too for submission - don鈥檛 need problem insight solution - makes it a project not a real thing - present as a project not to lecturers
The brand - primary logo, secondary logo, primary colour scheme, secondary colour scheme - don鈥檛 need to talk about research
Talking about how the project is received is good
Sure up system for type. Logo is good type, 2nd font - use it sparingly, use a more legible type on navigation
Use something really easy to write on on the book check in
Have the child鈥檚 name involved in the box and on the book
Include stickers in the box
Could personalise the front of the box
Pawbox- example of slides
Not too much centred text, works in small bits not large amounts
Could the grown up guide include for the adult, stories, top tips etc
Look at get making button, careful of 2 lines text

Box size development
After printing my prototypes, I developed the size of my box. After my initial research and deciding on a box that would fit through a standard UK letterbox, I found that this would be too small for all the components I would need to fit in it. So instead of the initial size of 255mm x 168mm x 22mm the box will be 193mm x 158mm x 61mm. Although this makes the length and width smaller, it allows for the box to be deeper to fit the art supplies in as well as the other components.

Prototypes - designed
After I had prototyped the size I would be printing on, I test printed the outside of the box by tile printing it. The images show this test print.

Prototypes
I began to experiment with prototypes for my box as I was getting to a point where I was ready to look at how I would print the box. My first experiment was just sketching out the box on a piece of a4 paper, however, I realised very quickly a4 would be too small for the box. I then did some calculations and came to the conclusion that to have a reasonable sized box, I would need to print on a2, so I taped 2 pieces of a3 together and sketched the net out again with no design to test the size. The image shows this prototype.

Website - Design
When designing my brand's website, I keep the brand guidelines in mind, including the colour scheme and typefaces I have used. I used the mock up image of the box as the main focal point when you come onto the website, I hope to change the images for my own photos prior to grad show. The three images show my website broken down into parts.

Website - Idea
during my tutorial, we discussed how the consumer would purchase the box, and from my research of competitor brands, it is common to use a website for purchasing over an app. The website would be an area for consumers to view the box, find out information about the brand, and choose a plan and subscribe to the box. There will be options for 1 child or multiple children as well as including reviews/photos from families that have already tried the box.

Instruction card
During a tutorial, we discussed how the supervising adult would know what to do with the box and the items inside, so I decided to create an instruction card for them. This is designed to be consistent with the branding and instructs the supervising adult how to use the kit. The card is shown in the image, the other side will have the artful mind branding on.

Well-being check in book - design
I designed the well-being check in book to have a simple design but also be consistent with my brand guidelines by using the same typeface on the inside and outside, but also the same colours and design on the front cover. I added areas for the adult to write the child's name (incase there are multiple children), the date of the session, the child's mood before and after the session (in order to see an improvement), the activity of the session, what the child spoke about and any additional notes.
The images show a mock up of the front over and inside
