I COMPLETELY forgot that last year i wrote a really short story based on the 'Scott has a blue halo when he sees himself' headcanon and i just NEVER shared it here for some reason???

if you are interested in reading, i just copy pasted it straight from my notes app after the break below. better late than never !

Scott paused, wide eyes locked on the mirror's surface and razor still half-raised to his face. Confusion coursed through him.

Slowly, he moved side to side, and... it followed.

It wasn't an illusion...?

The confusion turned quickly to concern as a frown creased his expression. Both hands dropped to grip the edges of the sink as he leaned in, squinting to get a better look.

There was a... halo hanging over his head. A blue halo!

"Man... What?" he muttered to himself. Instinctively, he felt like touching it. Had that always been there? He grumbled as his hand passed through without feeling any contact. He hadn't noticed this before...

Scott was close to chewing a hole through his lip with anxiety as he stood outside the Think Barrel, waiting for his therapist to answer the door.

A strong breeze forced him to shiver and shrink a little into his jacket.

Jerry had been understandably concerned after Scott had expressed his urgent need for emergency therapy over the phone. The gamer hoped that his therapist would remember to stay calm once he was face to face with the weird shape currently hovering over him.

Now hunching his shoulders, he tucked his hands into his armpits and tried to pull the garment tighter around himself to get rid of the cold that was biting him. He tapped his foot out of impatience and out of a need to keep moving to stay warm.

A click click click sounded as the door was unlocked and swung open, with Jerry on the other side sporting a serious scowl. "So where's this shape that's been bothering you?"

Scott blinked, glancing upwards. He couldn't see it hanging over his head right now, but he knew it was there. He'd literally just seen it in his side mirror on his way out of the car.

"Do you not... see it...?" he asked stupidly. He was met with the raised eyebrow of his therapist.

"See what, Scott?"

"Wait--- go back one..." Scott flung out his pointer finger to direct it at Jeb’s screen.

Jeb stopped flicking through his camera roll, and glanced sideways at the other man. His thumb swiped backwards. "This one?"

Scott nodded, moving in to peer at the image. He could see himself in the background, rummaging around a shelf. There was a suspicious smudge of blue hanging over his head, there...

"Is there something wrong with Terry's sweater?" Jeb queried, assuming Scott was staring at the arm of Terry's homemade sweater, and not himself in the background, just behind the vegan.

Scott moved away sheepishly. "Ah--- it's nothing! Just thought... I saw something..."

Jeb looked at him for a second, attempting to read what his friend was thinking about, but eventually turned his attention back to the small screen. "Well, anyways... I was thinking this one was pretty festive. Definitely the best one."

He skipped ahead and landed on a photo of the whole group, with Scott front and center, where Rex was looping his arm around his shoulders to drag him back with a grin. Scott in the image grinned ear to ear.

The man in question stared nervously at the photo, holding his tongue before he could mention to Jeb that a blue halo over his own head was covering half of Rex's face.

"Nice to get everyone in the Christmas photo for once," Jeb smiled.

"...Yeah, " Scott said.

Oh would you look at that! It’s national “Scott the Woz headcanons of the stupid, wholesome and angsty variety” day!

Anyway

Post Borderline Forever, all of Scott’s “videos” are really just him sitting at his desk and talking “to the border”. Jerry was gonna try help him with that but he found the 1-way conversations about Stupid Nintendo Games to be far more tolerable than having to sit there with Scott and watch the fully edited videos together

The Employees are just a nurse Joy situation. There’s so fucking many of them all across Ohio, and some even further throughout America and even Canada. Target Employee gets mistaken for several of the other Employees, but he’s not too bothered by explaining the whole situation to people, compared to other employees who might hate it

Jeb cannot tell the difference between any of the employees. He knows what’s up with their family, but he just doesn’t get that not every target employee is his Target Employee. Jeb will go to Target to talk or give him something, and Target Employee won’t know because Jeb was talking to the wrong one.

Rex may have overcome most of the violent conditioning to all alcohol, drugs, violence and sex, but the sex hatred has largely stayed the same due to the fact that the conditioning made him allergic.

Terry is such a devoted vegan that he’s able to photosynthesise. Straight up convert sunlight to energy. He goes and lays outside with the pumpkins sometimes.

Jeb will help Terry out around the pumpkin orchard, especially during the busier times of year. He generally just loves to help people out with anything, and will happily join in on any strange business ventures anyone dreams up

Pretty much none of the therapy sessions between Jerry and Scott are booked in advance. Scott will either come crashing through his office in desperate need of advice, or Jerry will drag him kicking and screaming into his car out of nowhere and drive to the Think Barrel for an appointment.

Jerry will flip on a dime (literally) between being Scott’s friend and his therapist. All Scott has to do is hand him a 50 and he goes all professional and tries to figure out what the fuck is wrong with him. But as soon as those 45 minutes are up, he starts encouraging Scott to do the absolute worst shit

Scott has a blue halo when he sees himself in pictures or a mirror. He’s the only one that sees it.

Rex and Jeb got married for tax reasons and Jerry was the officiant. Rex refused to hold hands at the ceremony (but compromised by handcuffing themselves together).

Death is just a medical bill and inconvenience in their universe. Being afraid of dying (like Jeb is) isn’t really normal. He gets a bit of shit for it, but it’s all in good fun

The “fuck sirens” that Rex has that were briefly mentioned in the Barrel Blast video are constantly going off. There is a constant loud alarm that blares in his head at all times, and he has trouble hearing and understanding what people are saying because of it

I have made a webpage for Reality Leak AU!!! (plus i have some updates)

It's still a little work in progress, but from here you'll be able to read Reality Leak, read the Special Features, look at the fancy timeline and look at fanworks (I STILL CANT BELIEVE THERES OTHER FANWORKS!!!) based on the AU! I will probably add more to it over time, with things like AU-related ramblings and 'authors notes'.

In other news, I'm still working on cleaning up the original fic -- I admit, I have been adding things here and there, and not just fixing punctuation and errors like I initially planned.

Eventually, this new version will replace the old one on AO3. Both will be able to be read on this site-- the current version (or, the 'original' version) is the '2023' one. So if you're particularly attached to how it is... it's not gone, don't worry!

On this site, when the new version of the fic is added, it's going to be 'interactive' in some ways. But you'll have to wait and see!

Finally, if you're itching for more of the Special Features... First, I apologise for making you wait so long. Secondly, I have included a very small teaser for the next part that I am writing, and you can view it on the main RLAU page using the button.
