How to Fix the Hogwarts House System:

Sort students into classes randomly instead of dividing them by Houses. Each class would have a mixture of students from all four Houses. 

Do away with the designated House tables in the Great Hall (except for special occasions like the Sorting Ceremony or the announcement of the House Cup winner). Students can sit wherever they want, with whoever they want. 

In addition to the Common Rooms for each House, have a larger Common Room where all students can gather together to hang out, study, play games, etc. 

Host competitions, sporting events, and other activities that promote House unity and require them to work together instead of constantly pitting them against one another. 

Teach students that possessing more of a certain trait or valuing one House over another is okay, but ALL the Houses have worth and value, and focusing solely on one trait is unhealthy and promotes destructive rivalries and bias between Houses.
