"Santa Maria de Toledo Cathedral" Spain
The Cathedral of Saint Mary one of the three 13th century High Gothic cathedrals is Spain.
Construction began in 1226 under the rule of Ferdinand III and the last Gothic contributions were made in the 15th century when, in 1493, the vaults of the central nave were finished during the time of the Catholic Monarchs.
The structure of the building is greatly influenced by the French Gothic style of the 13th century but adapted to Spanish taste.

I think this problem is exacerbated by a lot of the current social media generation saying 'this is so fucked up' to anything that makes them even mildly uncomfortable that when someone says a media piece is 'fucked up' I have ask 'yeah but in what way though?' Like, many forms of media and genres can have uncomfortable parts in their stories, I'll take A Song of Ice & Fire as an example. There are uncomfortable scenes in it that add to the story. But I would never called ASOIAF 'fucked up' even if it has disturbing content sprinkled across it. Also, a lot of recommendations for 'fucked up' stuff is like, blood and gore and sometimes edges on cheesy. A lot of slasher horror movies are just goofy to me, like a kid picking up a paintbucket and splattering it all over. I know slasher is a beloved genre, but the only one I can think of that fits that and is genuinely unnerving and disturbing is Chainsaw Texas Massacre (the original) and one specific scene from The Devil's Rejects that made me so profoundly nauseated I couldn't watch the rest of the film (so kudos to Rob Zombie I guess). If I'm looking for fucked up stuff, I personally want it to have meaning behind it being deeply disturbing. Books such as Blood Meridian and The Notebook (the Agota Kristof one, not the Nicholas Sparks one everyone knows) are not things I can just recommend out of the blue unless I know a person well. I still have yet to read House of Leaves, but I know people find that psychologically disturbing.
Films such as Come and See, and Salo/120 Days of Sodom are both anti war in violently different directions, and both are gut wrenching psychologically and physically in the case of Salo (those who have watched it know why.)
Videogames are such an expansive medium for 'fucked-uppedness' because of the interactivity and don't necessarily have to be classified as horror to leave a lasting impression. At the same time, giving the player too much controllability or power destroys all tension, so games where you are unfairly pitted against an antagonist/force/etc tend to hold the most sway for me. Games like Fear & Hunger, Silent Hill (1 through 3), Pathologic, and FAITH all give that helplessness factor.
I think that's what it boils down to. Helplessness. Despair morphing into something else as the story goes along, evolving without losing the sense that at any moment things could go wrong. Point is, when I ask for fucked up media recommendations, I don't really want to be shown something that has broad appeal.
If the scope of the intended audience isn't a narrow group of people wanting to experience something that will itch the brain long after it's done via uncomfortable content than it simply is not fucked up, in my eyes.
The trouble with chasing after recs for fucked up media is that a lot of allegedly fucked up media is enamoured with the idea of being fucked up, but it's not actually fucked up about anything. The form is there, but not the substance. However, there's no way to communicate this to anyone who doesn't already Get It without sounding like a maniac.
