Hi, i know this might not necessarily be your cup of tea but i adore your recs so i was wondering if you could rec me some fics that are short and sweet and really cute? I’m going through a difficult time right now emotionally and i could really use some Harry/Louis sweetness to make me smile. Maybe some meet cute au’s? Things Unsaid by LadyLondonderry / @londonfoginacup (GA, 4K) This is so sweet and cute, I actually laughed out loud a couple of times. Louis’ internal monologue is neurotic and funny and this is such a fun twist on soulmates.

Carry These Feelings by LadyLondonderry / @londonfoginacup (GA, 3K) This was just lovely and mysterious and sweet. I loved their banter and the whole description of Harry traveling the world, remembering and collecting feelings. It’s totally unique and beautifully written.

If You're Hoping for a Harbour by LadyLondonderry / @londonfoginacup (GA, 3K) This was so sweet and lovely. Perfect world building, quirky characters, and a charming twist on soulmates.

when you say you love me, know i love you more by darkofthenights / @jimmytfallon (E, 2K) Gentle, lovely, a bit of body worship, and someone who understands you well enough to make the insecurities vanish. 

‘Sup by mediawhore / @mediawhorefics (GA, 7K) I love awkward, older Harry pining for silver fox Louis. A very sweet meet cute. 

What Am I Gonna Say When I See You by runaway_train / @runaway-train-works (E, 7K) A teeny tiny bit of light angst, but the rest is sweet and sexy. 

Help! (I Need Somebody) by orphan_account (E, 2K) This isn’t really “sweet”, but it’s hilarious and even though I’ve read it multiple times, I still laugh every time. 

O’ Christmas Tree by @justalittlelouislove (M, 15K) I know this one is long, but it’s one of the few fics I’ve loved that is basically 100% fluff, It’s so sweet and charming and if 15K isn’t too long, you’re in for a treat! 

like an animal (i wanna feel you from the inside) by @bottomlinsons (E, 4K) Louis and Harry find themselves getting to know each other in the most awkward of circumstances. Funny and sweet. 

Strange How the Half Light by aheavenlyrush (T, 4K) Just really beautiful writing and Louis falling for alien Harry.

Time will tell, I suppose, or at least, these pages will. by lets_get_messi (GA, 5K) I’ve read this one so many times. It’s just touching and funny and sweet. 

Let Your Hair Down While You Still Can by @alivingfire (E, 5K) I read this one ages ago, and only remember that I really liked it, but you can never go wrong with this author. 

Bruised Fruit by @glasscushion (E, 1K) Seriously…so gorgeous. I could read 150K of writing like this. But all you get this time is a little over 1K. So worth it! 

Never Stare by throwthemflowers / @hazzabeeforlou (E, 2K) Just funny and sexy and silly. 

maybe by momentofclarity / @gaycousinlarry (GA, 2K) I have a soft spot for older larry. And meeting someone you know you shouldn’t let go. 

to hell with romancing by bottomlinsons (E, 8K) This is worth reading for Harry’s internal monologue alone. This is just a funny fic that morphs into a sweet and really sexy one. 

it’s all fun and games until by louisandthealien (M, 6K) Ok, definitely on the smutty side, but also one of my favorite characterizations of them: nervous, smitten Louis and equally smitten, but also slightly less afraid Harry. 

pink skin by @jaerie (E, 4K) Smutty, yes, But also really funny and sweet.

From a marketing perspective, it doesn't matter if people buy it or not, they just want them talking about it, as attention = money. But still all the comments are hurtful to Harry and psychologically damaging in the long run for sure. No wonder Harry feels like a clown a lot of the time, it's degrading.

The thing is, though, I don’t believe he’s being forced to do this. There’s a level at which he’s agreeing to this nonsense. It’s absolutely degrading and I don’t understand the need to have him talked about at all times and for such ridiculous reasons. But here he is, just 4 months after getting out of the worst PR stunts he’s ever been in, doing it again. 🥴

Gathering my thoughts after another “what in the actual fuck is this” moment

He clearly kissed people in private so how come we keep seeing him doing it publicly when he claims to want to be private- there was a van right there? Why the dancing? Why did he angle his body away? Why did he look so awkward? Why did it look like a first kiss?

Harry’s IG used to follow and at some point unfollowed so he could follow her in November- days before the O stunt ended and BEFORE was at the last LA show. That looks bad on any level (if it was real)

She was dating loads of different people over the last few months so she’s not the “mystery gf” which was from the mirror so obvs made up anyway

She went to the Pairs show and stood by O

Deuxmoi only this week brought back the 3s*’e rumour 🤮

She has a one year old and lived in NYC - can’t see H wanting to go there loads

She’s very active on SM - that seems incompatible with how he rolls

This feels like (hopefully) end of tour “I’m off for 6 weeks this will keep the fans engaged” which is a whole other conversation

Is this going to be the plan moving forward? No tour gifs and not long term intense “relationships” which are easier for him but worse for his rep and the fans? Tabloid Harry and who he seems to be in reality keep giving whiplash tho and they’ve already had a lot of backlash with straight Harry v queer baiting so that seems like a terrible idea too.

Gina I have maybe a strange request. We all know and love the smut in fics where everything is perfect and amazing, fireworks are popping, shooting starts are falling and so on. But but but. Is there a fic out there where the sex is bad? Like not bad bad but you know sometimes sex can be awkward, they’re still inexperienced but not in the super sexy way, or just be bad at it with coordination and stuff. Like I don’t know if that makes sense? In any case thank you!

This is such an awesome ask and I wish, WISH I had a bunch of fics to recommend because I think it’s something really missing from our fandom. However, I’ve got a few ideas. 

First of all, I want to just pour one out for the bad at sex fic that @alivingfire was going to write. I don’t know if she’s abandoned it forever, but it was such a great idea, I hope she comes back to it. 

OK…on to fics you can actually read:

Instant Pleasure by 100percentsassy (E, 25K) Otherwise known as the premature ejaculation fic. That kind of says it all. It’s a great read. One of the very few where Harry’s sexual prowess isn’t an automatic given. 

Someone Who Knows How To Ride by objectlesson (E, 5K) Harry’s his usual awkward, clumsy self. But this time he’s giving a lap dance. It still ends in super hot sex, but it starts out with a bit of a mess. LOL! (Link is to a download)

something so precious about this by champagneboyband  (E, 4K) Awkward first time canon compliant. It’s been a long time since I read this one, but old me really liked it. (Link is to a download)

Could you love me anyway by SadaVeniren / @sadaveniren (E, 13K) Baby boyfriends, awkward kink discovery and negotiation, sub drop. I particularly liked how the author handles Harry’s inner monologue and negative self talk. 

til you get what you want by eleadore  (E, 5K) This is one of my favorite authors, so if you enjoy this one, please check out their others. This one is is such a fun combo of banter and slightly awkward (but super hot) smut. 

I wish, wish, wish I had more to offer. If anyone has other fics to suggest, let me know! And writers….if it intrigues you, I think there’s really an unfilled need for fics with more “bad sex”!
