“SEE, THE THING IS, i can’t recall doing so either. but we must’ve have. i don’t know how else we got here, otherwise,” brows furrowed at the debate stirred between the two, determined to argue her side. as always, lyra was a stubborn girl, even if she wasn’t entirely confident in what her eyes presented. her eyes and memory didn’t remember passing through a portal, or any journey whatsoever. so she relied on the fact she knew, that typically, portals were the passage taken. “if only i could. i don’t have that power though, i’m sad to announce,” if will were here. if he had the subtle knife in hand. then there would be a perhaps to leave, he would know how. she hated it - how much she loved him. how many minutes passed by with him in mind. hated knowing how good he’d be in this situation.
rolling her eyes at the nature of the other, lyra cocked her head to listen to the brash pointing out of various surroundings in a quick fashiin listed by the other. “alright, alright, i get it. some of us aren’t here for that sorta thing,” she pointed the obvious out, though it didn’t deter lyra. once she had set her mind to something, it was rather fixed in motion. “oh, if i were? as i plan to. well, for one, i’d speak to the natives of this place. see the world through their eyes. hear their stories,”. she always liked that. sometimes, she’d head down to the pubs near the docks of the gyptians, just to hear the stories passed on by old and new faces, of canals farther out of reach from her bubble.

LYRA TOOK THE OPPORTUNITY to pounce upon the spoken upon location by the other, wanting to know what it was the moment it was spoken. it interested her, naturally, and lyra had always been hungry to know more about the worlds. as a child, the pictures sent from the north by asriel had sustained her, even though she’d always badgered for more. always wanting to visit there. “the spine of the world? what’s that now?” she queried with a darting of her eyes, before relaxing back into her chair. “they’re right lush mountains, though, these are. i’ll give you that,”.

AT FIRST, SHE NODDED as if in agreement. out of it summed up her first reaction well enough. some distemperment had settled across her initially, which she hadn’t liked. it always unsettled her when she felt in that manner, the cross streak infecting her. she’d managed to become a tad more at ease though, even if not entirely settled. if she was being honest, she wasn’t sure she wanted to settle here. then, ears pricked up, a beam passing into her as she heard the familiar name. “hey! woodshore, i was literally there just a while back, told similar enough,” she enthused, before sinking back. “a little. i can’t claim to be an expert, but i’ve made it this far,”.

“HAVEN’T THE FOGGIEST NOTION, i’m afraid to say,” sympathetic twisting of her lips to the male, she’d admittedly been struggling herself in naboo. she knew that she should’ve done better - she always enjoyed getting stuck in the mud of things - but it wasn’t the sort of place that she had gotten along with too much. hard, when you’re living came from writing, and suddenly all that and the drafts were back in some foreign town far away. “but if you happen to know anyway i can find your incentive to find a job, i’d love to know” she laughed aloud.

GROWING UP, NINA HAD grown used to being alone. entertaining herself within the pages of books and the company of her nan, but it didn’t mean she never strived for the company of others - in fact, she’d found herself seeking it. thrust upon naboo, she’d found herself feeling a little too thrown aside, not knowing anyone on the planet. so she tried to get to know the people around, whether they be locals or those like her. it was rather interesting, how many also seemed to crop up from other places. she was often the outsider, but here, there were numerous with that title. “if anything - i think i might be the one disturbing you,” she bit down on her lower lip as she realised, the other looking at her as nina felt a pang of awkwardness wash over. “just thought i’d say hey. you looked kinda off,”.

MANY A PERSON HAD found themselves without a soul they had known on this planet. lyra was no exception, but she hadn’t yet started to badger people for answers. as it stood, she was accustomed to having those she cared for lost and taken from her. each pained as if the last, though as she grew, she learned to cope more than she had as a younger girl. besides, as of recently, there wasn’t anyone she had so close in her life. aside from pan. still, even if she wasn’t asking, she knew how they felt. and she felt bad, overall, that she never seemed to hold any answers. studying his features and words for a few moments, head then shook, shrug of shoulders in lack of knowledge. “nah - never heard of ‘em. or seen them. sorry, though. you just misplaced sight of them or...?”.

“SOMEONE ELSE FEELS A little out of it, then?” nina remarked as she regarded the other with what she hoped was a welcoming enough smile, though letting out a slight laugh. in solidarity, she liked to think, considering she had been in a similar enough situation. “this place is...naboo. i don’t know the logistics of it, but i arrived out of the blue also,” she moved to explain, trying to not fall into her usual state of rambling forth. there was a fair bit she could spill out about this place, though not answers. no one seemed to have those.

STRANGER BY THE MINUTE, so went the conversation. on her behalf, at least. aside from her disgruntled nature towards the situation, things seemed positively normal for the other. whereas his words came new to her, he seemed to fit right into the world - and so he spoke that very notion. “this is your home? i suppose that explains why you’re so comfortable with it all,” a breath relaxing from susan, it did seem to suggest it was a little more of a harmless place than initially suspicious of - and one wouldn’t wish to be too negative to someone regarding their homeland.
“it is a lovely place to set eyes upon, i admit. though slowness is often a good way to soak places up,” the woman admitted, though it was followed by a shaking of her head. “i have to ask, though. you were a droid?” eyebrows remarking upwards at the thought of it.

ANOTHER REASON AS TO why lyra had struggled in the years following the completion of the destiny she hadn’t even known she was following. she’d learned so much, knowledge that went even against the magisterium itself. only to not really be able to speak to many regarding it - expected to just go back to her studies despite the shattering of her whole world and beyond. at least here, she could speak freely. but it didn’t mean people understood. and it was annoying at times, when she swore she had such a fixed notion of how this had all happened, but it was so markedly different to the ideas of others.
“the opening we must’ve came through. they’re like...portals. the cut-open slice to lead us to another universe, like we’re in now,” lyra attempted to explain, though she knew she couldn’t remember entering through one. she suspected some sort of foul play. she knew all too well how many bad people were mixed amongst the morally grey. “explore...the culture, the landscape! the point is to try and make the most of here. and besides. exploring can lead to answers to the distraction,” and if it was a distraction, it was a beautiful one. as of late, she wasn’t the most optimistic, and she was challenging her belief on reality already, but intrigued she was regardless.

“WELL, AT THE VERY least there’d be answer to that age-old question...is there life on mars?” though, on the basis of what she knew about the rusted colour of the scenery,  so absent from civilisation, it wouldn’t exactly be worth it for an answer. no, she’d much rather be stuck on this planet, unknown as it currently was. “honestly? don’t think i would either. i’m all for out of bounds adventures, but mars is a stretch!” a laugh rippling from her, she’d found herself doing...alright, in surviving this place. it helped that it wasn’t so much about surviving as embracing the local culture, getting to know the place. “you’re right with that guess....don’t even know how, but here i am. happening a lot recently.”.

FOR A GIRL WHO tried to make the best of a bad situation, susan had grown to become awfully pessimistic at times. if lucy had been desirous as to the looks of her sister, susan half-wished that she could hold that wonder and thrill of lucy that everyone seemed to so love. and, that was much more suitable for the nowadays she now lived in. instead, she had hurtled to acting grown-up, losing her appreciation for places like this. “doesn’t it pertube you in the slightest, though, even if you are so happy as to it...strangely enough being real?”. happy or not, it felt a slap in the face to arrive, and she wasn’t fully content.
“you just arrived to a foreign planet, of all places! of course there’s reason to not be hasty,” she pointed out, a direct pointing of her brows, speaking as if it were the most obvious conclusion to have come to. it wasn’t like arriving in a new town or city, eager explorer. this was a whole new world altogether. with little choice in coming.

LYRA WAS NOT THE sort to sit comfortable and let a situation happen. even if she felt as she had given up the fight, she would always return. scrappy as ever and ready. but at the same time, that was when things seemed wrong or dangerous. upon arriving in cittagaze, though it was a strange location, she hadn’t sought to save things instantly. instead, she had camped out somewhere, mess of a girl who pounced on the first person she saw. and things seemed peaceful and calm enough here. suspicious, alright, but she knew evil. she had stared it in the face and been loved by it. this seemed not to be it.
it was just....one of those worlds. a multiworld. between woodshore and here, they had entered into her life once more. for the first time since she had waved goodbye to the other world that she could never live in. it scared her, she would admit, to live here now, knowing her life span may be so limited, or the movement may have caused spectres. it, however, wasn’t a situation that she was frustrated by. she was excited for the first time in a long while.
“well, unless we find the opening, i’d say we wait-” lyra started, lips teasing in their expression, wondering where the silvery slip would be. it wasn’t as if they had the ease of the subtle knife to cut them a journey home. “but who said anything about twiddling thumbs? i en’t planning on that - i’m planning to explore!”.

SHE KNEW A LITTLE something about being cursed. and it hadn’t been fun. even if at times the stakes felt more targeted those she loved ( putting aside the fact it was always her life hanging in the balance throughout the whole experience ), it was too much to watch what happened to them. no, cursed wasn’t something she wanted to be again, but if she didn’t know better, she could’ve sworn cursed was what she was right now -- first woodshore, then naboo, and now this. no matter how gorgeous naboo was, it was still being taken to a foreign planet without permission. the third matter then, was the small matter of her leg. ankle, to be specific. leg out ahead of her, resting on the surface of the strange planet, a wince let out as she looked up thankful at the man. someone, who, for once, looked a little human. “i mean, laying on the ground with my ankle hurting, that wasn’t exactly the first thing on my agenda,” half a laugh grating through, she leaned forward, hand resting against the area she believed to be sprained. “uh, sure thing! i was just trying to take in this whole place, it’s alien, but hey, it’s cool - then i was pretty sure i saw something. or someone. and like the fool i am- i ran! and i tripped. bad trip, as you could probably tell from my shouts,” whatever, she was probably over-exaggerating ( or, not wanting to be a bother, but glad the other had come ), but how else to react? “oh god, really? of all the people, that’s some luck for me,”.

IT WAS GOOD, NINA considered, that other people seemed to be holding the same level of wonder that was carried through her mind. upon arriving, trepidation had filled her, the nervous sort. only natural for her, seeing as she had intended to keep from trouble. but it had soon dawned into a sort of excited glee at the whole prospect. she tended to like to face new places with an optimistic grin, even if obstacles were thrown in her way, and this seemed a perfect chance to embrace the new.
“i can’t quite claim i have! then again, only really lived on earth,” a stifled rush of breath, an attempt to contain herself. “same, though. it blows, being away from family - my nan would love sightseeing here,” family was only really her and her nan, rather than some big collection, but she related to the point of esme nonetheless. just like in woodshore, she felt guilty for not being there for her.

"A CLASSICAL BEAUTY, EVEN, some call it. i’ve learned it’s a pretty admired view,” nina remarked in a upbeat tone as she walked closer to the male - she’d already started in that direction, and his words seemed an invite to move closer. an invitation was always good, she wouldn’t feel so bad about her habit of intruding then. she had spoken around to residents of the place, especially those within the lovely central city, and she liked to believe she had picked up a far bit of knowledge on the world that seemed to hold a multitude of terrains. “and i can agree on that, without a doubt. for a random planet of all places, we lucked out,”. from afar on earth, gazing at pictures of space, or looking out through the telescope, so much of the vastness seemed beautiful. so it wasn’t so wild a thought for here to have a nice few -- but she appreciated it all the same.

CREDIT TO ALFIE - AS it turned out, some of his wild theories just seemed to correlate to reality. who would’ve thought? whereas they had been knee-deep in egyptian mythology, he had been adamant at times about the existence of aliens, fully confident in them. they’d all kinda dismissed him with a laugh, as they did to him so many a time, and yet here she was. a planet that seemed...hella alien. part of her was loving it, intrigued, just hoping she wasn’t in danger. even if she was a little confused, the whole thing seemed magical, for wanting of a better word.
a voice attracting her attention as a hand waved, eyes narrowed as she walked over, taking in the air of the strange world, incredulous as to it all. “naboo, huh? beats me as to any of it! but it’s pretty cool, right? never thought i’d find myself in space of all places” she rambled out for a few moments, the buzz coming across, not even needing a drink to get that hit. “you tell me. looks like anywhere here is foreign to the both of us,”.
