“... Oooh~? Hey, Kao-kun, everything that comes out of your mouth is re~ally annoying, you know~? If you don’t watch what you say, I won’t hesitate to crush you, okaaay? In the first place, there’s no benefit to surrounding myself with stupid and naive amateurs.” 

“An~y~ways~! Who says I have to abide by your words? I can do whatever I want, and I can say whatever I want... did I ever ask for your input about what I do? No~pe! Weren’t we talking about you? We were, we were... ~ Say, how about I bash that stupid head of yours against a brick wall for being sooo rude and sooo annoying?” 

(Though it’s not like he actually has the physical strength to even do that.)

“Such a bully, Izumi-san! You know, that’s not an attractive feature either. You and I are really opposites, huh? I love to date and make girls happy and you seem to repel everyone around you. Such a shame.”

“Though for someone who doesn’t seem to care, you sure seem to have a lot to say about my romantic life. Really, really, you need to decide! Either you’re expressing interest and you can judge and pick on me all you want or you don’t care and you don’t say anything at all.”

Perhaps he was avoiding some of the questions, but Izumi wasn’t interested in his answers anyway, right?

He did it out of curiosity and even if it’s off by a solid twenty four percent, he’ll take it! Yuu-kun just needs to snap out of his rebellious phase and everything will be great! Come home to onii-chan, Yuu-kun!

“You keep telling yourself that.”

“Ehehe~ ♪ The President and I are a match made in heaven… I don’t even need one of those silly calculators to know how compatible we are! It’s probably suuuper wrong, anyways!”

“Ehh, looks like I underestimated your intelligence, huh?” he mused with poor humor. “I don’t doubt your remarkable attraction to girls and your impressive ability to make every single one of them dump you by the end of the... month? Week? ... Day. But what’s the appeal? Anzu aside, they’re generally pretty annoying and fickle, don’t you think?”

“Well, you don’t have to give me an answer since I’m not at all interested in what you think. However, speaking of dating multiple people at once, that’s a little concerning, you know? If that’s the sort of thing you do, it’s no wonder that no girl is willing to stay with someone as dishonest and sly as Kao-kun~?”

“That sounds too good to be true anyway, especially from you,” a soft sigh passed his lips and Kaoru cupped his chin in his hands. A small frown could be seen paired with furrowed eyebrows, though it was more from annoyance than anger.

“Don’t get your hopes up. It’s simple, I like girls a lot. Is that so hard to believe? Whether I’m dating one exclusively or many at once. If a girl doesn’t want to date me, that’s her choice, I guess. No heartbreak here, there’s plenty of fish in the sea anyway.“

“Ohh~? Is that right?” he questioned with mock surprise. “Out of pity, I was considering introducing you to some of the female models who might be able to hit it off with you pretty well, but~ seems like Kao-kun is perfectly fine on his own, huh?” 

Then, he shrugged. “Hmm~ I guess you’re right? Kao-kun should enjoy his afternoon while he still can, huh? After all, the heartache should be coming soon... not that I’m implying your ‘rescheduling’ is actually ‘incoming breakup’ or anything. But to be honest, I’m suuuuper surprised you haven’t given up yet? Could it be that Kao-kun is actually a masochist?”

“It sounds so cruel when you say it like that! Besides, it wasn’t a rejection, we’re rescheduling,” even if Kaoru could tell by the tone in his date’s voice and her reason for bailing that there probably wasn’t going to be a date anymore, a straight face had to be kept. Stay strong. Don’t let him see you falter.

“I’m not sure what you’re talking about, Izumi-san. Girls always want to go out with me, it’s hard to stay available! Actually, I should be cherishing this time to myself while I have it, who knows when I’ll get another opportunity!”

Supernatural things were unscientific; therefore they weren’t real and couldn’t exist... but whatever the heck this thing was, though, he had no idea. Not only that, just now, he could’ve sworn he heard someone’s voice? In his head? He jolted slightly, but maybe he was mistaken? When he looked around, there didn’t seem to be anyone nearby...

What is this? A prank, or the start of a horror movie? Maybe he should’ve just let this thing alone, but now that he’s already starring in some kind of horror live action film against his will or whatever, he might as well make the best out of his situation before his inevitable death by whatever was haunting his mind and threatening to possess him? Something like that. (Maybe if he just ignores the fact that there was a voice in his head, he’ll be left alone. Maybe. Now he’s just coming up with excuses.)

He lifted the little creature up from its underarms (so fuzzy and soft) and gave it another hard look. Imagine if that voice from a moment ago was actually this thing. Hah, what a funny thought. “You’re a weird cat, where did you come from?” But then again. “Well, it’s not like you can speak back to me, so that was completely useless.” But maybe. “Unless that sound earlier was you?”

Contrary to what Claude had believed at first, that energy was certainly getting closer. Had he made such a fuss on the campus, or had this person only just seen him and become curious? He had hoped that he might go unnoticed until he managed to leave, since he’d gotten such strange looks here. Surely, this was another place with only “normal” animals, so his appearance, in this form and the other, were eye-catching against his will. And yet…

That energy loomed over him now. Claude raised his head to look at the human boy who kneeled next to him now. This person wasn’t particularly frightening. He didn’t feel threatened by his presence, but the feeling of standing out so much made him feel self-conscious to some degree. Pulling himself upright, the Espurr tilted his head as well, mirroring the boy in front of him.

One should hope he won’t mind the intruding voice in his head.

He heard whispers about a “strange cat” running around school, but that was just about all he knew in regards to the situation. While he was definitely curious, there was no way he would let anyone know that he cared about this kind of stuff; therefore, there was no way he would casually force his way into strangers’ conversations with a “Tell me more about this strange cat!” or something similar. 

But he still would like to know more about this strange cat, somehow! School was over for the day, but people still lingered for club or unit activities. Don’t get the wrong idea though, it’s not like Izumi skipped both to look for something as vague as a strange cat. (It’s okay, just one time is fine, right? He’s a top-notch idol and good at everything he does, so he could easily make up for it.) 

Anyways, lo and behold, there was indeed a strange creature resting on the school campus, and he couldn’t believe it even if he was looking at it with his own two eyes right this moment. (Actually, it was sorta cute? What even is it?) It wasn’t like something that tiny could do any harm, and it didn’t even look like it had claws or anything to maul him with, so approaching it was okay, right? Well, he’s going for it anyway, and now he’s kneeling, tilting his head, and inspecting it. Wow, did he just discover a new species?

Goodness, Claude shouldn’t be so used to spontaneously finding himself in an unfamiliar location. The grounds were beautiful, but too large for him to easily find his way off of this… school campus, apparently. The tiny Espurr had gotten more than a few strange looks, and had since avoided the students who gazed at him like some strange animal, which offered him no method of getting directions or aid of any kind.

Ah, he had tired himself out by running about. At least for now, he would lie down and consider what to do from here. The only person he could sense nearby was still some short distance away, but surely, they weren’t coming any closer, right?

Hello, welcome to Hell. 

Guess who was totally not eavesdropping! (Well, it’s not like Kaoru was being all that subtle or quiet on the phone, so it’s fine. Really. Besides, who would pass up on the chance to ridicule a fellow classmate? Not Izumi.) 

“Ehhhh? What’s this? Was Kao-kun rejected again? This makes it the... oh, who knows, Kao-kun gets rejected too many times to keep count now, huuuh? At this point, you might as well go out with yourself, fufu.” 

“No, it’s fine, it’s fine! We’ll try again tomorrow. Don’t worry, I’ll always make time for you! Text me later, okay?”

With a light sigh, Kaoru ended his call only to stare at his phone looking a bit puzzled.

“I guess my afternoon is free now but what is there to do? Maybe I can find someone to go to the café with me anyway.”

A quirked eyebrow. What was Ritsu doing? This was totally not a socially-acceptable thing to do while in a conversation with an important figure such as Izumi Sena, right? Right, of course not! He’ll be kind and generous to lower the intensity of his glaring, but he also takes the liberty to grab that hand and lift it away from Ritsu’s face.

“Says you! Kuma-kun is the one who is exaggerating things right now!” And then he placed his hands on his hips indignantly, heaving a dramatic sigh. “See! Kuma-kun is being annoyingly cheeky right now too!”

     He could feel the killer aura emanating from the taller boy, stabbing him painfully. Even if it was hypothetical, it still stung. The vampire squinted his eyes shut, placing his hand in front of his face as if to put up a barrier.

     “Please stop, I feel like I might get killed at any moment. You’re way over-exaggerating…” He was a good person? That sounded wrong. “And I’m not the one being cheeky here. But, whatever, being around you is tiring. I’m leaving…”

He is very close to strangling Ritsu right now. Very close. Dangerously close. Despite the fervent necessity to choke this little idiot standing in front of him, something in the back of his mind tells him not to, though. Soooo annoying.

A vexed harrumph. “I was only stating the truth for Kuma-kun’s convenience, because I am a good person, you know! Because you’re suuuuper cheeky, I have to go through the trouble of putting you back in your place!”

     The yelp- sounding wonderfully undignified- brought a sleepy smirk to his lips, which held for only a few moments. Sena’s voice was loud in his ears, and frankly, annoying. A hand raised to cover his ear this time, as if massaging it could make the sound leave faster.

     “What else do you expect when you call someone a loser? Consequences come with your actions, Secchaaaan.”

A totally dignified yelp followed the unexpected (and totally uncalled for) pinch at his side. 

Ritsu’s specialty should be annoying Izumi, because that’s all he ever does, besides sleeping. What a cheeky (fake) second year, to have the nerve to pinch Izumi like that! Not to mention, it hurt too--what a rude little piece of trash! 

“Excuuuuse you, that was soooo unnecessary and immature, typical of Kuma-kun!” 

     Well, he said it alright. Turns out saying it directly to him didn’t make a single difference. But he felt the need to get back at him.

     He reaches out and promptly pinches Sena’s side with force.

“Hey? If you’re gonna say something like that, at least say it to my face.”
