The most difficult part about using Tumblr more is it’s just not as convenient for spewing random thoughts at people. That’s not really how long-form blogging works.
And also all the artists I’ve collected over years aren’t here. I weep.

Yo. I'm about to graduate from uni and stop talking actual Japanese classes. Problem is I want to keep improving (particularly speaking) but I don't know how other than go to Japan. I've studied abroad there and there's nothing like actually getting to use it everyday, but I'm stuck here for now. Any advice?
If you’re young, the easiest way is to try to study abroad. It’s easy to get over to Japan for half a year or more, you can usually even work a part-time job while on your school visa. It’s obviously very pricey to do that, but it’s the most fluid option.
Your other option is to get a job teaching in Japan. The market is competitive; I’ve been trying for years and can’t land a job with my ideal company. But you don’t need many skills beyond a bachelor’s degree to get a job in Japan. But I also wouldn’t recommend even an ALT job to someone who doesn’t legitimately enjoy working with children/teens, or otherwise, someone who doesn’t like or want to teach. You’ll get to Japan, and be able to use your language skills, but you’ll likely have a bad time.
The easiest method of continuing your Japanese language learning is to use a social network. Find a talking-partner who wants to learn English, and you can trade your knowledges. Beyond that, branch out your Japanese language knowledge toward things that interest you. Try to read manga in Japanese, consume Japanese media, etc. You have lots of options in that regard.
Just as a bonus aside, one thing I like to do to reinforce Japanese basics (which is really what I want with my language learning at the end of the day, to be able to communicate the basics), and since I’m also not a super social person in general, I like to analyze the conversations I had IRL at the supermarket, or ordering some food, or talking to someone randomly, and try to either say it in Japanese or (if I can’t communicate it with my current knowledge) learn what to say in that same situation. Think about what the clerk at the store said, translate it; think about what you said to the clerk, translate that. It grounds your experiences in real world events, making it more practical, and that works for my brain at least.
