Camping in the sun. Back yard cricket. Brews with brothers. As many racing laps as your body can handle. Is there any better weekend than this? Round 1 of the North Island series kicked off at Tokoroa this weekend and what a weekend it was! I'm a broken man this morning. I threw the bike down the tarmac on the fastest bit of the track and bruised a few things but nothing broke and I was back out there next session. I fought with two very fast 2 strokes (TZ125 and a NSR) and made some good ground on them but I was definitely pushing this commuter bike/slug. I dropped 2.4 seconds on my previous best time from earlier in the year so I'm stoked!

What a gruelling day of racing!! The AMCC 2 hour endurance race was fierce today and we made big improvements over the weekend. Karl and I did 222 laps of Mt Wellington amongst the heated field and came 5th overall! I dropped about 0.3 of a second from my previous PB and the bike ran beautifully. Back to back race weekends are helping my riding hugely and they continue to come with AMCC R3 at Hampton Downs and Tokoroa in the next two weekends. Stoked as hell.

A MASSIVE congrats to my homie Joel @csgarage for getting top spot on the podium from first place qualifying on the weekend. He was clearly at home on the tight Mt Smart track throwing big feint entries at the concrete walls and sticking it to guys doors. Keep pushing mate!

The Taupo track one back straight. I got 189km/hr out of it but I really needed a bunch more corner exit speed from the sweeper leading onto it. I've been day dreaming about this since Wednesday. I can't get enough of this bike and that track. So damn fun.

I did a round trip to Taupo for a testing day yesterday and it was a tonne of fun. The fresh rubber felt brilliant. I'm slowly getting used to how much corner speed you can carry on these things but there's still a way to go. I found track one fast and challenging. The laps are massive so small mistakes compound themselves and more than once I was reaching for the bravery pills in the sweepers. My highest speed was 189km/hr according to my GPS timer but I'm confident with more track time that can be pushed closer to 200. It's crazy fun though, I'm really stoked to be on a Grand Prix bike despite the small field of competition. My day was unfortunately cut short by a broken clutch cable but I already had a tonne of riding so wasn't too phased.

Today was a bloody good day. A new pair of Bridgestone Battlax super soft slicks went on the RS125, I bought a new (second hand) 5'9 surfboard for summer and I prepped for a testing day at Taupo Motorsport Park tomorrow. Stoked as anything.

I've been a bit MIA recently. Held up with being away, working and building bikes. Loads on the go though including some exciting bike stuff. The summer racing season has just begun and we're right into it! Get out there!

I visited my fair share of religious and spiritual places in Europe this year but none drew my soul in quite like the Barcelona Moto Museum. Finally seeing the Derbi Ran 50cc in person was like seeing the Dala Lama from afar. One day I will race a Derbi 50 like this one. One day...

Ginger Mollloys 1969 Bultaco 349/360. The famous bike which he took to victory in so many international European races in 1969 and 1970. The same bike that finished 2nd equal in the 1970 500cc world championship. Here it sits next to his other Bultaco two strokes and one of my favourite bikes of the Barry Sheene Oceanic Challenge 2013. What a sight!

Praying to the god of speed today at the Barcelona Moto museum. I knew Spain was mental for motorcycles but I didn't quite register they were MENTAL for motorcycles. The depth of moto history in this country is incredible. One day I will build my own 50 GP bike.
