Maybe the "alt text is an important accessibility issue that we should encourage people to use to improve disabled access for those who need it" and "writing decent alt text is not always a simple & spoonless task for someone with brain fog or other disabilities and maybe harassing people about it in general is not the behavior of someone with the genuine moral high ground here" could coexist if y'all weren't so damn motivated to keep them mutually exclusive.

In between the blatantly racist VoteBlue clowns and the folks who've correctly realized the American political system is a giant capitalist racket, there's this really funny subtype of person who acknowledges that America is fucked beyond what any elections could fix, but still clings to the delusion that their genocide-fuelled settler-colony was at some point truly the home of Freedom and Democracy and Love. Amazingly, this leads them to talk about America like the protagonist in an NTR story:
"Ah, my sweet and lovely US of A... the America I loved as a child is now in the hands of that orange man... She never looked like that when led by someone that I voted for... yes, she would smile and say she loved me, but there was always something missing... Is this who she really was all along? Laughing and moaning so indecently as we enter new wars and assault people on the streets... No! This isn't the America I know! She would never do such perverted things! It has to be a lie! It has to be a lie, right? Tell me I'm wrong, America! Tell me you still love me! Don't you remember how we used to talk about freedom and democracy? About equal opportunity for everyone? Give her back! Give me back my land of the free and home of the brave! Ah, but it's no use. I can't forget what I've seen. I can't trust you again. You betrayed me, America. You betrayed our beautiful love. Perhaps this was who you were all along. Perhaps the billionaires and the military and the fascists were always the types of guys you dreamt about. A simple working Joe like me could never satisfy you, could I? Oh, what a fool I've been..."

We're several years past the "we need leftist memes to convince people to join us" but that conclusion needs to be revisited because it's built on several presumptions that cascade into total nonsense.
The driving reason why people are becoming more and more reactionary is because of deterioration in material conditions, not that they saw the "wrong" thing on the internet or got trapped in an "echo chamber" (the entirety of corporate news media is in and of itself also an "echo chamber").
The reason why memes were able to accelerate some people's reactionary tendencies was because they reinforced existing political frameworks.
Reiterating point 2, memes are a form of propoganda in the literal sense, in that they are means of distributing conclusions without any of the arguments that would precede a conclusion. Reaction as a political force does not rely upon education in the same way revolution does, which is why it's easy to goade people in that direction, on top of the fact that we live in a world dominated by reaction, the ball is in there court perpetually as it were.
Reiterating point 3, memes cannot serve revolutionary potential in the same way because political education dies at the crossroads when you only present conclusions and not founding arguments. It's not "fun" but yes you actually do need to research and understand structural models of politics and history and what praxis is actually actionable if you want to do anything.

I think aside from many anti-communist narratives being rooted in fascist/imperialist propaganda, they also just dehumanize people speaking out against that. I can talk to people who think they know more about my (former) country and people than myself, even though I am the one living here, while just regurgitating propaganda. Calling me "brainwashed" or something. It gets to the point where you see videos of dprk citizens just enjoying a marathon and people will be like "they are forced to clap and be happy :(" No?? They are just having fun, what?

"the demonization of queer desires and queer sexualities is so widespread that it is necessary to defend them and amplify them" and "barging in on a post by a trans woman you don't know to comment on how you are sexually attracted to her is not ok, especially if she's specifically discussing transmisogyny" are not in fact contradictory statements.

"Single people are on average less healthy, less financially stable, and overall less satisfied with life than partnered and married people are. This must mean that monogamous relationships and marriage are the solution to society's problems"
Huh, it's almost like society, both socially and financially, is set up to specifically benefit people who have monogamous relationships and get married and punish people who don't partner or get married. It's almost like there are financial benefits that exist specifically to incentivize people to get married and have kids and be a nuclear family. It's almost like it was very culturally normal until very very very recently to just not have any deeper platonic relationships after you get married, meaning that single people past a certain age just get left behind and get treated as spinsters or loser bachelors. It's like life just is not designed for single people to be able to easily participate and survive while still being single. Huh, very weird. I'm sure marriage will fix this.

people are really great at convincing themselves that a problem comes from Scary New Technology when the truth tends to be something a little closer to "this new technology is exacerbating or highlighting pre-existing systemic problems, usually by making exploitation more efficient than it once was". this would be just a mild source of annoyance except for the fact that this leads to bullshit proposed solutions to the problem, such as "Simply Don't Use The Technology" . instead of. y'know. addressing the underlying systems that landed us here in the first place

I guess in general something I've been practicing doing is leaving behind the "do I fit [psychiatric diagnostic category] in a proper/normal way enough?" and moving towards the "if I use [diagnostic category] as a lens for my behaviour, what would it teach me?" which is not to say that it's some free-for-all where I try on all labels under the sun. it's just to say that these categories are constructed categories, and they're only useful if they help to make sense of lived experiences. if it helps me to approach my lived experiences through a new angle, why not give it a try and see? it doesn't have to be a permanent feature of my identity to be useful in a given moment. much to consider
