En Route
Tumblr media
"Dreaming City Control, this is Chrysaor. Requesting clearance for approach and landing." The warlock spoke with characteristic formality, falling into silence as he waited for whichever Corsair was on the line to respond.
"Approved for landing, Guardian."
"I can do that for you, you know? Don't always have to handle it yourself." Dawn pipes up, buzzing around from behind his head to settle herself down beneath the window of her Guardian's Kestrel.
"I enjoy the routine." He responds, smiling a little at her as she cozies up beside the trinkets she had insisted be placed across the dashboard.
"You sure you don't just like the sound of your voice?" She teases. Chrysaor laughs with levity, a low and gentle rumble rich with a warmth unexpected from the otherwise stoic man.
"Maybe a little." He says with a wink, immediately inciting Dawn to give the best approximation of an eyeroll her form allows. "Exiting Vestian orbit; approaching Divalian Landing Site."

Bioluminescence

Chrysaor sighs in the calm of the moment, watching as the fireflies moved about him in the rays of the distant sun. Dawn, his ghost, buzzes around behind him, examining the little creatures with delight. "You know, there's no record of the Traveler ever visiting Nessus." She chimes. The warlock cocks his brow.
"Is that so?"
"Mhm. Cryptarch records indicate that it used to be a bundle of ice no more than a few dozen kilometers across. One day it just sorta changed." She looks off towards the dense canopy occluding the horizon to their left.
"Surely that's evidence enough of the Light's presence, isn't it?" The warlock offered, turning his attention away from the small glowing beetles flying around him. "That, and the fact that its host to a thriving ecosystem. How would they live here, if not for the Traveler?"
"I dunno." She spins her shell in an approximation of a shrug. "Some people think that the Vex brought them here. Pets, maybe? Plus, almost the entire planetoid is machine at this point, so much so that I'm pretty sure Nessus is actually mostly...not...Nessus...Does that make sense? I feel like I'm not being clear."
"No, I follow." Chrysaor replies with a small smile at his old friend. "If this planet is entirely Vex in origin, though, I do question the purpose of maintaining an ecosystem so suited for human life."
"Maybe they just really like the view?"

Forecast: 97 Degrees Kelvin
Tumblr media
[POV: Chrysaor]
The cold does not agree with me. From my rebirth in the Earth's whirlwind storms to this bitter husk of ice, I have always favored warmth.
"We're not far." Dawn assures me, just as the ruins of Eventide crest around the corner. "Just a minute or two until we reach the outskirts."
"I question the logic of transmatting outside of the colony's limits."
"Well, technically, we didn't." She can sense my frown. "But I get the point. House Salvation's still active around the ruins, even without Eramis. So I'd rather you didn't get a face full of Brig fire right after touching down, makes my job easier."
"How generous of you." I reply dryly, though her laugh is evidence enough that she sees through my coy attempt at performing irritation. I smile too. "Let's hope that what we find is worth the trouble."

Onus of Vigilance
Tumblr media
"Fascinating, isn't it?" Reverence broke Chrysaor's silence, echoing through his words. A reverence which his ghost, Dawn, prickled at.
"It's certainly something." She replied carefully, feeling some wash of relief at the sound of his voice. "Are we just about ready to leave?" A small frown finds its way across Chrysaor's face at her uncharacteristic discomfort.
"Are there combat frames nearby?" He asks innocuously.
She senses the space around them, seeing in absolute clarity the quickly dispatched collection of Goblins and Hobgoblins through the cavern; the husk of a large minotaur still cools from solar fire only a few meters away from where her guardian stands. "No, but-"
"Then why are you worried, old friend?"
"You've been staring at that thing for three hours."

Vanguard Lunar Outing B670
Tumblr media
"Remind me why I'm here again?" Elwyn asked, kicking up dust in the low gravity of the moon as he slid towards the ledge.
"Avoid falling into the pit." Chrysaor's distorted voice echoed through the comms. "I'm certain your ghost would not appreciate the journey down." Elwyn rolled his eyes. "That's not an answer." He said, taking note of some activity roughly opposite of his position. "That's something..." "A nightmare." The warlock replied calmly. "Unmanifest, yet still apparently a target by the Sol Divisive." He hummed his interest. "Curious, one would think that a Vex subtype dedicated to the worship of the Darkness would avoid confrontation with one of its permutations." A light laugh rolled through Elwyn's ghost. "Our understanding of these entities is limited, at best." "That's great and all, but you still haven't answered my question." "Get closer."

Weapons of Light
Tumblr media
“Your Light is not a weapon.” The warlock began steadily, already piquing the interest of the comfortably sat hunter within the glen. “It is amorphous potential, beyond all else. An amalgam of possibility, entrusted within you by the Traveler.” “Why can I make it into a gun, then?” Elwyn asked. Though his face was covered by a helmet, Chrysaor could hear the curl of a coy smile at the tail end of his question. “For the same reason that a sword can be made from steel.” He answered with a careful calm that was seemingly only reserved for these lessons. “Light can be woven into a desired form by its wielder. Be it of a gun, a shield, or a blade, guardians are capable of molding the Light into weapons in accordance with their will. Allowing, in short, for your mind to exert its desires upon cosmic nature.” He could already tell that he was losing the new light, even in the earliest stages of this lecture. “For example-”
