HEALTH UPDATE Keep me and my mom in your thoughts and prayers. The reason she hadn't been feeling well and had no appetite and was weak and that I felt like I was taking a cold is because as of yesterday we both tested positive for Covid. Several of my family members are positive too. I've been taking it easy catching up on my reading and watching movies. One of which was appropriately Quarantine. https://www.instagram.com/p/CachZjzrmCr/?utm_medium=tumblr

BOOK REVIEW I just finished reading How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories by @blackholly This was a 5 ⭐ read for me. Great job Holly Black. The Illustrations by @rovinacai were amazing. My favorite character in The Folk of Air Trilogy was Carden. This book was that entire trilogy told from his point of view. It was a quick read. I finished it in a few hours. The book was filled with beautiful illustrations. So glad I grab a copy. BOOK DESCRIPTION An irresistible return to the captivating world of Elfhame. Once upon a time, there was a boy with a wicked tongue. Before he was a cruel prince or a wicked king, he was a faerie child with a heart of stone . Revealing a deeper look into the dramatic life of Elfhame’s enigmatic high king, Cardan, his tale includes delicious details of life before The Cruel Prince, an adventure beyond The Queen of Nothing, and familiar moments from The Folk of the Air trilogy, told wholly from Cardan’s perspective. This new installment in the Folk of the Air series is a return to the heart-racing romance, danger, humor, and drama that enchanted readers everywhere. Each chapter is paired with lavish and luminous full-color art, making this the perfect collector’s item to be enjoyed by both new audiences and old. https://www.instagram.com/p/CaVXBTyPfbt/?utm_medium=tumblr

BOOK REVIEW 5⭐ I just finished reading Hundred Percent by @karenromanoyoung This was a cute story. I highly recommend it. Book Description: The last year of elementary school is big for every kid. Christine Gouda faces change at every turn, starting with her own nickname—Tink—which just doesn't fit anymore. Christine navigates a year's cringingly painful trials in normalcy—uncomfortable Halloween costumes, premature sleepover parties, crushed crushes, and changing friendships. Throughout all this, Tink learns, what you call yourself, and how you do it, has a lot to do with who you are. #5starread #5starreview #hundredpercentbook https://www.instagram.com/p/CaLt_PlL7ql/?utm_medium=tumblr

BANNING BOOKS! NOT OKAY! Thank you @hachetteus for posting this. You know what my biggest problem is with this book banning? That some if not all of the narrow minded people who want certain books banned probably haven't even applied butt to chair and read all of them completely cover to cover. They are just going by certain keywords or world of mouth and banning the book based on what they've assumed the book is about. Horrible. There should be a requirement that everyone who wants a book banned has to state why and then answer some questions regarding the book. If they can't give great answers then the book isn't banned. https://www.instagram.com/p/CaBsUmHgIZN/?utm_medium=tumblr

MOM UPDATE Mom went back to her vascular surgeon who did the surgery on her legs for a checkup. He stated that everything was looking good and healing nicely. He said they want people to recover and heal 100% leaving minimal scarring. Statistically speaking most people who've had this type of surgery will be at 70% as far as how their legs are doing at this point in their recovery. He stated that mom is at 90%! He's very impressed. He also said I'm doing so well taking care of her changing her bandages that he can't believe I'm not trained as a nurse. And maybe I should consider going back to school because I have a knack for it. I didn't tell him but I hate needles, hospitals, and the smell of blood so I couldn't do that long term for a career. Thank God for those that can and do. #thankyouhealthcareworkers #speedyrecovery❤️ https://www.instagram.com/p/CaBiUA9Lrhq/?utm_medium=tumblr

BOOK REVIEW This was my latest 5⭐read The Key to Extraordinary by @natalielloydbooks My review: OMG! I can't say enough good things about this story. It was soooo good I couldn't put it down. I read it in one day! Emma Pearl is one of my all time favorite Southern girls besides myself of course. I highly recommend it. Book Description: Everyone in Emma's family is special. Her ancestors include Revolutionary War spies, brilliant scientists, and famous musicians--every single one of which learned of their extraordinary destiny through a dream. For Emma, her own dream can't come soon enough. Right before her mother died, Emma promised that she'd do whatever it took to fulfill her destiny, and she doesn't want to let her mother down. But when Emma's dream finally arrives, it points her toward an impossible task--finding a legendary treasure hidden in her town's cemetery. If Emma fails, she'll let down generations of extraordinary ancestors . . . including her own mother. But how can she find something that's been missing for centuries and might be protected by a mysterious singing ghost? #5starread #5starreview #natalielloyd #thekeytoextraordinary https://www.instagram.com/p/CZyYRXaL2pu/?utm_medium=tumblr

BOOK REVIEW 4⭐ The Stowaway was a good book. I really enjoyed it especially the ending. This book kept me turning pages. It contained characters that were 3 dimensional and well thought out. The ending which revealed the killer and the motive was really good and surprising. https://www.instagram.com/p/CZKmmssPxGp/?utm_medium=tumblr

READER TIP #1 As an avid reader there are lots of books on my TBR. So many that TBR could stand for Trillion Books to Read. New books are being released all of the time so you could possibly read all of your TBR eventually. However, if you're like me you have limited finances and bookshelf space. I've noticed periodically that a fellow bookstagrammer heard about a book they wanted to read bought it, read it, but then didn't like it so now they're stuck with it wishing they had never bought it. So here's my reader tip #1: You should do like I do. It's usually one of three things to read the books I want on a budget. 1) I check with my local library to see if they have a copy or one of their branches does. I then get it, read it then if I didn't like it I haven't paid any money for it. 2) I wait for the ebook to go on sale usually via emails from the publisher or notices about book sales online. 3) I try to get ARCs via places like Bookish First or Netgalley and I will find others online with ARCs or finished copies of books and we trade for books we want. I also enter lots of giveaways via publishers, @bookriot, and @goodreads. Then if I loved the book and want a physical copy for my shelf then I buy it. That way I only have the ones I want and save time, money, and bookshelf space. ( My previous post features 3 books I wanted a copy of. I was able to read all 3 before buying the physical copy thanks to my 3 steps. I read The Wicked Deep by @sheaernshaw via a library copy, The Shadows Between Us by @tricialevenseller via a $1.99 sale ebook copy, and The Vanishing Deep by @astridscholte via an ARC from @bookishfirst ) #readingcommunity #readersofinstagram #readertips https://www.instagram.com/p/CZH7MhPL1mF/?utm_medium=tumblr

WRITING PROMPT Writers write a story in my comments, 10 lines max, where this apple is the main focus of your story. It can be used for good or evil to either hurt or help your main character. Mine would be: Sylvia had been wandering aimlessly for hours through a snow covered forest with no memory of how she got there. She was wearing high heels, a dress that would have been worn for an evening out and no coat. The sun was beginning to set, she was shivering and her stomach was growling and aching from hunger. She was beginning to tire and her feet hurt. Just when she thought she couldn't go another step the forest opened up a little and she saw a little house with light streaming out of a small window. She walked to the house and peeked inside. There was a blazing fire in the fireplace in the kitchen and everything needed to make a pie on the table. All the ingredients were familiar except for the apples that were solid black. She wanted to eat one so badly that she could literally taste it through the glass but were they safe or poisoned? Your turn. #writingcommunity #writingprompt https://www.instagram.com/p/CY-qd9PAMV9/?utm_medium=tumblr

MY MOM'S BIRTHDAY! My mom is doing better. She's walking with the use of a walker and getting better everyday. She still can't stand for long periods of time and has to sit down often but she's better than she was since her leg surgery. I've been dressing her wounds and taking care of her needs. I've gotten on a steady schedule now so I'm up every morning at 8 AM EST. https://www.instagram.com/chrystalstevens1331/p/CY8FiaKAcP_/?utm_medium=tumblr
