Can't stress highly enough how hard you hit the nail on the head here, OP. There's a wealth of interviews, government papers, and doctors' social media posts from the USA where they admit that they're deflecting blame and rejecting perfectly functional research and cures because it's much more profitable to keep US Americans on a perpetual knife's edge of major chronic health issues (or collapse).

The US government is gargling the balls of major pharmaceutical powerhouses, and the moment they stop, those powerhouses can and will pull very literal triggers on anyone who stands to put a dent in their profit margins.

Which is honestly a shame, because blackcurrant freakin' slaps.

Despite the connected world, some experiences remain region-locked. My British children, for example, have access to all the usual artificial flavours - their freeze pops are things like Strawberry, Cola, and whatever “Tropical” is - but they also have access to “blackcurrant,” which for historical biosecurity reasons, did not penetrate my American childhood.

I made green tea, but I forgot there was an old bag of chai in the kettle, so I mixed chai water with decaf green tea, then I mixed in like a half table spoon or something of that honey from the dollar store that they aren't legally allowed to call honey because there's too much corn syrup in it and some almond milk and a single drop of coffee creamer because we ran out and???? It tastes like??? Nothing????

It has LESS flavor than my tap water! HOW do you EVEN-

Me and my cousin have an ongoing bit where we pretend we made "slightly better" versions of things where we'll be like.
