do you have any tips for coloring or shading on digital art

So honestly, I’m really ass at shading but these images I think explain themselves well on the spectrums I often land in! - Shading w/ black or same color as lineart (image 1)

-Airbrush + flat shading (image 2)

-Colored lineart + flat shading + airbrush (Image 3)

I love vibrant pallets, and sometimes I think colored lineart really helps guide the eye to make out the shapes of the shadows you have going!

Usually I choose my colors as I draw unless I have a reference on me, additionally keeping in my what background color you’re gonna have because it really does help show how your colors are gonna present themselves! Color theory is a very real thing.

It really depends on what vibe you’re going for! But things like Base colors, background color, lineart + line weight all give you a good idea of how to go about shading your piece from there!

On top of that, I study the shading and coloring styles of each artist I follow or enjoy! So finding art you like and studying it helps plenty too!

do you have any tips for adapting to digital art

Honestly speaking, I really just found a program that was easy for me to process as my main point, I do everything in my iPad! Using procreate because it’s UI is simplistic, although I do have a drawing tablet in which I used Clipstudio but that’s rarely because it’s UI overloads me quickly.

So I think for me, it came down to:

-The UI of an art program you’re most comfortable with

-Warmups to get used to the art program you use

-Take a look and see what artists you follow have to say about their own journey into digital art

Don’t feel bad if you struggle to find your footing, it takes a while and sometimes for those who do, they always go off balance in their own moments, I know I do! We all learn off of others, so asking questions, looking around and generally just trying to find guidance is okay!

OKAY—

I think I just avoided some issues, someone randomly commented on my post and I did a quick check to see if anyone had made any posts on them cause I thought it was a little suspicious.

So the user @/blueloveonheart seems to have a streak of fucking around with artists and trying to pull some sort of scam on the artist they contact-

One search of the user in posts and the first thing to show up is someone recounting their experience followed by other users explaining their own worries and issues too- please keep an eye out for this stuff <:[
