Itsay Colour Progression Analysis ep. 1:

At the beginning of the first episode, we are first introduced to Teh who is singing in a Chinese opera competion, dressed in red and very similarly to his idol Yonjian. Who later plays this character which ends up being the catalyst for their friendship? Oh-aew, of course. The red at the beginning of this episode tells us a lot about Teh, he holds onto things... his dream of acting like Yonjian... and likely his unresolved feelings about what happened with Oh.

But lets backtrack a bit to how Oh-aew and Teh first met. The board that displayed their grades was red which could emphasize the important of this event for Teh and the lifelong impact it would have on him: he met Oh-aew.

From the beginning, there are many times that we see Teh in blue and Oh-aew in red such as this moment on the beach. This also reveals the importance of blue to them later in the series as some of their most important moments occur near the water (blue).

The moment where Oh-aew and Teh’s friendship comes to a close, they are surrounded by red. At this time, this might signify their kinship and friendship before it later develops into love as they grow older. Teh is seen wearing a red and blue shirt, which could represent just how precious his and Oh’s relationship is to him, even though he is inevitably the one who causes the end to the friendship with his selfishness.

Oh’s signature colour is red and you can see that it stays with him from when he was younger (red hoodie) to progress into the red jacket when he is older. This shows that even though he has aged, Oh is still very much the same.

After the reunion of Teh and Oh, we can see that Teh can’t get Oh out of his head. He looks on Instagram and finds a picture of Oh-aew with a picture of the dessert that is his namesake, which is also red.

We next see Teh trying to recreate the photo by using Hoon’s blue hair wax. At this point, Teh still believes he is a rival of Oh’s, so he uses the blue wax to try to compare himself to Oh-aew. It’s as if he’s trying to use the “blue�� to achieve something that he doesn’t understand quite yet. He’s drawn to oh but he can’t quite figure out why.

The use of social media as a means/tool of comparison, rivalry and jealousy is obvious in this series. Both Teh and Oh can be seen at various points in the show using their phones to be connected and disconnected from each other. The importance of this is that Teh’s is blue and Oh’s is red.

Nearing the end of the episode, Teh and Oh-aew are at odds but Teh makes a point of tracking down Oh to return his bag and they meet once again by the water.

During this scene the space between them is vast, almost as if they are an “ocean” apart. The “blue” or Teh’s selfish reaction so long ago is what tarnished they’re relationship originally and he continues to hurt Oh, out of confusion, for most of this episode.

But when Teh finds Oh there, his walls fall down and he realizes, he just wants to bring Oh back into his life. He’s tired of just blue, he now wants red too.

DAY FIVE: Fave Female Character

Yihwa from Together With Me the Series

“If you’re gonna call me a BITCH, make sure you put BADDEST in front of it. WHACK ASS HOES!” 

Look Yihwa was the amazing. Pretty, kind, loyal, smart, and the most stylish. She was the glue that kept her friend group together. She went up to bat for her friends every single time and even when Korn gave up on Knock, Yihwa was there ready to expose Plernpleng on her own. She was a queen and an OG. Like I will forever love her.

DAY SEVEN: Fave Friendship(s)

It’s hard to choose just one friendship. Let’s do a couple. I’ll cheat. I can’t choose just one.

Mork and Rain from Dark Blue Kiss

If Ride or Die was a friendship it’d be them. Rain is ‘ride’ and Mork is ‘or die.’

The Boy Clique from History 3: MODC

Oh I hated them at first, but what I can say is they’re loyal af and were willing to change and grow just as Hao Ting an Sun Bo did. Never seen friends read yaoi comics to understand their gay friend better.

Pharm, Manaow, and Team from Until We Meet Again

Always looking out for each other, always communicating with each other, joking, and laughing. They feel like the most organic friend group to me.

Ae and Pond from Love By Chance

Pond might’ve nosy as fuck but if it weren’t for him AePete would not be a thing. He loved his best friend enough to help him get into the relationship he would be in for the rest of his life.

Yihwa and Faii from Together With Me

ok last one. Faii and Yihwa were the two masterminds on the whole series. Together they took down a ring of petty and revengeful girlfriends that EVERYONE else presumed were innocent. Two Bad Asses.
