anyway i found out what i was doing wasn't actually reduction printing, because that's all supposed to be done on the same plate but carved away progressively over time. so I'm just gonna do my own thing I guess

life series-specific design headcanons (empires and hermitcraft feel different to me in many cases)

i try to base my designs pretty closely off of the actual skins and the faces of the actual players when i can, with minimal fanon or nonhuman traits where i can help it

BUT winners get a higher degree of mutation for me. something something watchers but i don't really care about all that, i think that just making it to the end of that kind of event means you get to control the narrative a bit more and if your narrative turns you into a wolf girl then so be it

so far the only non-winner I've broken this time with is drawing jimmy with wings but they Do Not Work and are only the because of the curse

everyone DOES have the potential for non-human traits in the event they do win but i try to keep them subtle when i can. as such i haven't drawn impulse because I'm torn on whether the little horns are strong enough of a vibe that i couldn't in good faith draw him without them (eg like with grian. who. yeah. that's him)

same thing with skizz because the angel thing feels wholly in reaction to the imp vibe for impulse but it doesn't really feel deeper than that to me. even if it's really cute

lizzie in this one is a mischievous little kitten

martyn also doesn't really have any nonhuman traits yet but i kinda wanna revisit that and spice it up for him honestly. i just haven't actually seen his win in person just the losses of everyone else

etho i do actually really like the arctic fox + braid/ponytail headcanon i just forgot in my rush to make him damp

scott in life series only has crystals that grow from his head like horns or a crown, getting longer as he loses lives. in other series i like it as a halo though

i don't normally post text here but i will say, it's been very interesting going through the lifers at the rate in the order I've been doing so because I've actually kinda stopped watching mostly life series? I'm mostly on hermitcraft now (catching up on mumbo, scar, and impulse simultaneously), but something about getting to know the povs of the players outside of life series has helped me get a sense for their personalities and vibes a little better
