Seeya Straya :)
Heya Lovelies! It feels like it’s been ages since I wrote a proper blog. But I couldn’t leave Australia without giving it a well deserved little piece of writing.
God it has been an adventure. From arriving with no plan, feeling the lowest of my lows for a long time, to deciding that that was all pretty much just me, fought myself back up again and discovered pure happiness. For the first time in ages. What those moments looked like?
-       Me riding my bright pink bicycle home from work. Cycling along the Esplanade with palm trees on my left, the ocean on my right and Goldfish blasting in my ears.
-       Coming home a reasonable hour after a night out (Holland you can learn from this) and deep frying kroketten with the best roommate ever.
-       Diving into the water and staying there, underwater, for just a minute, with no sound, watching the turquoise ocean. OH HELLO MASSIVE BAT FISH, you’re here too?
-       Enjoying proper bbq’s, next to the pool, surrounded by palmtrees, with the most inspiring people.
-       Oh and what about 3 weeks of sleeping on deserted beaches, driving along incredible coastlines, jumping out of planes and Despacito on the radio every day? Did I forgot to tell you that my best friend was there too? Can’t even describe how awesome that was.
I’m sorry for making you jealous. Can’t really believe my own words either. Especially after letting go of all my expectations at one point and not thinking it would be a great adventure again. A lot of people asked me, when I told them everything felt pretty perfect in Australia, if I didn’t want to stay longer. And I would, if I could keep the job in Cairns, or if my best friend would travel longer than three weeks. But everything I wanted to accomplish, I accomplished; Living a life in the tropics, with new friends and family, doing something non-stressful, something I couldn’t do back home, with the beach close by, sick nature everywhere and the sun shining (almost) every day. If I stayed until my visa expired (March-‘18) It would mean I needed to start a new job, in a new city, meeting new people. And to be honest, I felt a bit too tired to do it all over again. And it felt like it couldn’t really top my Cairns experience anyway <3
So then I decided to see the campervan trip as a three week farewell. And it was the best three weeks I could wish for. There are no words to describe the feeling of letting your best friend experience the life you experienced, so far away. Meeting people, she only knew stories about, seeing places, I called home. And of course, the moment you’re not really looking for it (dancing your ass of with your best friend and a cider in hand), and you don’t really have anything left to stay in Oz for, you come across this awesome Ozzie guy. And you are, again, leaving in just two weeks. Isn’t life just great?
So here I am, sitting in this super fancy hostel in Bangkok. With no backpack (thank you Jetstar) a friend with a cancelled flight (thank you Jetstar), not knowing what to feel leaving this country behind, but still LOVING the Asian vibe. Three weeks of sitting on my ass in a beach chair (and some yoga & meditation) is what my life is gonna look like. Yes, you can be jealous of that too.
(keep in mind, I’ll be jealous of you, with your job, house, and life, back home soon :) )
Speak soon lovelies,
Much love & happiness coming your way
