and some more drawings of how i imagine riding hounds. first is closer to a "wild type" of color/pattern (though i've since changed my mind on some of it) then there's the type dovara has and an albino variant
#may or may not post some sketches bc ive been addicted to drawing these guys for close to a year now LOL#my brain latched on so hard to the vole puppet from one episode that has 6 legs and i needed to extrapolate on that body plan#so theyre midlimb is heavily reduced and mostly provides extra defense on the ribs and breast#possibly related to sparring during the mating season#i also based their anatomy heavily on andrewsarchus i love you andrewsarchus#they are omnivores although the domestic ones have a majority grain based diet in modern colonial expansion times#the neck ridge and ears would be way less present in the actual wild ancestor i think they were selectively bred to loosely resemble#cardassian state iconography (i was kinda going for this in the dovara painting with the silhouette of the one on the left)#also dovaras look too small for riding that was kind of an accident but i do think that there are breeds less suited for riding/fieldwork#and more for other jobs or just as companion pets#i think some get as small as like shetland ponies#anyways just some of my thoughts. you walcome#don does art#star trek
