Aemond Targaryen X Fem! OC Fic || update
Fic Masterlist
Tumblr media
Hey everyone. I know this isn’t the update you all were waiting for but unfortunately I have decided to discontinue this fic for a few different reasons that I have listed and explained below.
The reason for the gap between the last two chapters was because of me being really sick, which I thought I was recovered from but now has returned and I’m currently taking prescription medication for it.
I have no motivation to continue this fic. I want my work to be something I enjoy writing and something I can be proud of rather than forcing myself to write simply to get chapters out and then not even be happy with them.
When I started writing this fic it was something I was just writing for myself. I never planned on writing it until I already had the first few chapters written and after I decided to post it I ended up rewriting those chapters anyway. I didn’t really plan out this fic very well before I posted it so I really don’t have a plan of what comes next.
I have always suffered from horrible writer’s block (if you’ve followed my blog for awhile you probably know that already) and it causes me a lot of stress knowing that people are waiting for me to post when I have no idea what to write. I don’t think it’s fair to make everyone wait when I have no idea how long it will take for me to be motivated and have ideas for this fic again.
I am so sorry to everyone who’s been reading this fic from the beginning or just started reading it and have been waiting for updates. Maybe in the future I will come back to this fic but right now I’ve decided to part ways with it. Thank you everyone for all of the love you’ve given this fic, it will always warm my heart to see all of the love and support. 💗

Aemond Targaryen X Fem!OC Fic || chapter VI
Fic Masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jacaerys was still fuming at breakfast the next morning.
“Bloody one-eyed cunt,” He grumbles under his breath as he takes another bite of his muffin.
“Jace,” Rhaenyra scolds lightly.
“What, so he’s allowed to insult us in front of everyone but I cannot insult him in private?” The Princess’s oldest son responds.
“We are here to make peace with our family, not fight with them.”
“He started it!”
“And you will finish it. Aemond is our family, our blood, and soon enough he will be your sister’s husband. You must learn to get along with him, or ignore him at the very least.”
“That’s easier said than done,” Jace grumbles. Laenora pays no attention to her brother’s complaints, looking down at the table silently as she eats her food.
“Laenora, my sweet girl, are you feeling well?” Rhaenyra redirects her attention, taking notice of her daughter’s disheveled state, “You look like you’ve hardly slept.”
Truthfully Laenora hadn’t slept very well. It had taken her the longest time to find sleep after Aemond had left her room and when she had finally fallen into unconsciousness her dreams were plagued by a certain silver-haired uncle.
“I’m alright mother. I did not sleep very well, to be honest. I’m just feeling a bit homesick.” She lies. She was certainly not going to tell her mother the real reason she hadn’t slept well and certainly not in front of her brothers, stepfather, and stepsisters.
“Oh darling, I miss home as well. We only have to endure it a little while longer. I suspect we’ll leave for Dragonstone a day or two after you and Aemond’s wedding.”
“She’ll be coming back with us?” Lucerys asks, “Shouldn’t she stay in King’s Landing with her husband?”
“Normally she would, yes. But Laenora is my heir, she will be Queen after myself. My father taught me how to rule and I will teach my daughter as well. Aemond will be coming with us to Dragonstone. I suspect Alicent won’t be happy about it but she’ll have to deal.” Rhaenyra responds to her son.
“So he’ll be living with us then. That’s great news,” Jace replies sarcastically.
“Perhaps he won’t be so bad if you just give him a chance, Jace,” Laenora suggests.
“Give him a chance? After the strife he caused last night? The vile insult he made against us?”
“It was in poor taste I agree. But if you had only been a bit kinder to him when we were young maybe he wouldn’t feel the need to lash out now. You could’ve been good friends.”
“You take his side now just as you always did then. You are living in the past, Laenora, believing that you have any chance at a happy marriage with him simply because you two were friends as children. We had been here only a day and our uncle was already being cruel. He is nothing like the boy he once was and you are silly and naive to think otherwise.” The oldest son of Princess Rhaenyra stands up from his spot angrily as his sister recoils from the harshness in which he spoke to her.
“You are Strong as much as Luke, Joffrey, and I. His insults do not exclude you, remember that.” He finishes hotly.
“Jace!” Rhaenrya scolds but her son had already stomped out of the room.
The rest of the room was silent as they had witnessed Jace’s outburst. Laenora’s cheeks were flushed with humiliation. Her stepsisters were looking at her as if they pitied her while Lucerys was looking down at his plate awkwardly.
“Oh, my love. He didn’t mean it, he’s just angry.” Rhaenyra tells her daughter, reaching out to place her hand gently on Laenora’s shoulder. The younger princess stands up from her spot.
“I’m going for a ride,” She announces quietly, rushing out of the room before anyone can see the tears threatening to escape.
She cries softly the whole walk back to her chambers and while she puts on her riding gear until she catches a glimpse of herself in the mirror attached to the vanity, face red and splotchy. She looks weak, like a silly little girl crying because her brother was mean to her.
But she is not weak. She is a dragon, and dragons do not cry.
She wipes her tears away angrily before she leaves her chambers in pursuit of flying freely through the skies.
Vermithor perks up when he spots his rider dismounting the horse she had borrowed from the castle stables. He is quick to notice her distressed mood as she approaches him and he leans his large snout down to rest against her chest as he lets out a concerned grumble.
“Nyke alright, vermithor. Nyke simply yearn naejot sagon isse se jēdar. (I am alright, Vermithor. I simply yearn to be in the sky.)” Laenora tells him softly.
Understanding her words the beast nods his head toward the rope ladder cascading down the side of his large bronze body, beckoning his rider to climb up. She wastes no time, climbing into the leather saddle before ordering him into the air, to which he immediately obeys.
There is nothing Laenora loves more than being up in the sky on dragon-back. Nothing could ever compare to the feeling of freedom that comes from soaring through the open air and feeling the wind in her hair.
The Princess often retreats to the skies in times of distress or when she simply needs a break from reality, much like her mother when she was her age. Rhaenrya would always love Syrax and the feeling of riding but she hasn’t had as much time to do so since Aegon and Viserys were born.
Laenora dreads the time that will come when she will have her own children to occupy her time instead of having the freedom to take Vermithor to the skies whenever she desires.
“Sōvegon eglikta, vermithor! (Fly higher, Vermithor!)” She shouts and the dragon obeys, soaring up through the clouds. She closes her eyes in content as the wind blows through her dark hair and the conflict from breakfast is lost in her mind.
Vermithor suddenly grumbles in alert and Laenora opens her eyes once more as a shadow is casted over them. She looks up, seeing a familiar, large she-dragon soaring above them.
Vhagar swoops down so that she is flying along side the Bronze Fury and Aemond smirks over at his niece.
He can’t believe how beautiful Laenora looks upon her dragon’s back, looking perfect and joyful and free as she rides one of the largest beasts alive.
“Nyke gōntan daor expect naejot ūndegon ao bē isse se air, Niece! (I did not expect to see you up in the air, Neice!)” He calls out to her.
“Emagon ao māzigon naejot torment issa arlī, Uncle? (Have you come to torment me again, Uncle?)” She responds accusingly.
“Do you believe my only goal is to bring you torment?”
“Well it certainly seemed that way last night.”
“And were you terribly bothered when I left you breathless and squirming?”
“No actually, I was referring to when you insulted my brothers and I, and ruined dinner,” She responds hostilely.
“Don’t lie, Niece. You were like a bitch in heat, practically begging me to fuck you. I imagine you were quite frustrated when I left.” Aemond taunted.
Laenora’s cheeks get hot as she squirms in her saddle, “You have a filthy mouth, Uncle.”
“I think you will find that my filthy mouth will satisfy you quite nicely once we are married.”
“Bold of you to assume I will let your filthy mouth anywhere near me,” She shoots back.
“Bold of you to assume you’ll be able to resist. You already tried that last night and it didn’t work out very well if I recall.”
The princess doesn’t respond, instead dashing ahead on Vermithor, leaving Aemond stunned as he watches her long dark hair fly behind her.
He speeds after her, attempting to cut Vermithor off, to which his rider directs him to swoop down and fly underneath Vhagar.
The Bronze Fury soars back up, cutting off Vhagar, who then drifts to the left to avoid running into the slightly smaller dragon. Laenora looks back and laughs at her betrothed’s frustrated expression.
Aemond swerves in front of Vermithor. Laenora curses as she directs him upward, narrowly missing the other dragon. Now it’s his turn to laugh.
The two dragons continue swerving and dancing around each other playfully as their riders seek to cut each other off.
“Ao don’t gīmigon skoros seeing ao riding aōha zaldrīzes raqagon bisa iksos doing naejot issa, niece! (You don’t know what seeing you riding your dragon like this is doing to me, niece!)” Aemond calls out at one point.
Laenora smirks and calls out, “Dracarys!”
Vermithor, staying far enough away from the other dragon so that she knows it is not a real attack, breathes a mouthful of flames at Vhagar, narrowly missing Aemond, who is stunned again as his niece laughs and speeds off again.
The two dragons land side-by-side and Laenora climbs down from Vermithor.
“Ao gōntan sȳrī tubī, vermithor. Nyke jāhor maghagon ao nykeā reward tolī. (You did well today, Vermithor. I will bring you a reward later.)” She praises her dragon softly, rubbing her hand down his scaled face.
Vermithor let’s out a content grumble that almost sounds like a purr and nuzzles against his rider’s hand.
Aemond approaches Laenora’s side after dismounting Vhagar.
“You don’t play fair, Niece.” He accuses.
“Neither do you, Uncle,” She responds simply.
“I never claimed to.”
“Nor did I.”
He steps closer to her, “You truly don’t know what you do to me, Laenora.”
“Then show me, Aemond,” She tells him.
He leans down slowly as she looks up at him, encouraging him wordlessly to keep going. He does, eager to close the distance between them, just as he has imagined doing so many times before. However, just as his lips are barely brushing against hers she abruptly pulls away.
“Remember, I don’t play fair.” Is all she says before she turns and walks away. It’s his turn, now, to be left confused and unsatisfied.

Y’all I am SO sorry for the lack of update in the last week and a half. The weekend before last we had family staying over and then all week last week I was super sick. I am recovered now and will be back to updating as often as I can. I don’t know if this chapter will make up for the wait but I hope it will.

Aemond Targaryen X Fem!OC Fic || chapter V
Fic Masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The room was mostly silent as everyone awaited the Kings’s arrival. Everyone in the family besides Rhaenyra’s three youngest children were gathered together as a large feast lay upon the large, T-shaped table.
Hardly anyone spoke to each other except for a few words here or there, besides Jace and Daena, who were sat next to each other, chatting contently.
Laenora sat on the other side of Daena and on the other side of Jace was an empty chair where Aegon was meant to sit. Instead the oldest son of Alicent and Viserys stood a few feet away, talking with Aemond who had yet to sit in his chair at the end of the table, next to Laenora’s.
Laenora listened in to their conversation, or argument it sounded like, about drinking. Aegon had been complaining that his brother didn’t drink enough while Aemond claimed that Aegon drank too much, which was then followed by Aegon defending that he drinks just the right amount.
Their conversation was cut short when the doors opened and the King was brought in on a chair, too weak now to walk on his own.
Aegon and Aemond returned to their places at the table and the rest of them stood up for a moment of respect for the king before sitting back down. The room was in an uncomfortable silence as they all waited for the chair to be placed on the floor.
Finally King Viserys was placed down at the T of the table in between his wife and daughter.
“How good it is to see you all tonight, together.” He managed to get out as he looked around the table at his family.
The awkward silence continued until Queen Alicent broke it, “Prayer before we begin?”
“Yes,” Her husband answered with a nod.
As she said her prayer Laenora had to keep herself from giggling at Daemon’s reaction to her wishes for Vaemond Velaryon to be given rest by the gods.
“There is an announcement to be made.” The King announced after she had finished.
“Tonight is an occasion for celebration it seems. As my grandchildren, Jace and Laenora, will marry their aunt and uncle, Daena and Aemond, further strengthening our family.”
Jace and Daena smiled at each other and Laenora looked over at Aemond for the first time that night. He was already looking back at her with an expression she couldn’t read. She quickly looked back towards the head of the table.
“I wish to be able to see the weddings of all our my children and grandchildren, unfortunately I know that I will not be here much longer. My death is coming soon I’m afraid. Jacaerys and Daena will be married a week from now and Aemond and Laenora will be married five days afterward. All of the days in between will be full of celebration, music, feasts, and tourneys. A toast to the betrothed couples.” The King continued weakly, holding up his cup. The rest of the table did the same before taking their drinks.
Laenora looked at Aemond again. He smirked at her as he downed the rest of his cup. The eye contact he was giving her made her feel dizzy so she looked away.
“Well done, Jace. You’ll finally get to lay with a woman.” The dark-haired Princess heard Aegon taunt Jace in a hushed voice, leaning in closer to his nephew. Laenora rolled her eyes in disgust.
“Let us toast, as well, to Prince Jacaerys, the future Lord of the Tides.”
“You do know how the act is done, I assume?” Aegon leaned over toward Jace again after everyone had toasted, “At least in principle? Where to put your cock and all that.”
“Knock it off, Aegon,” Daena hissed at her brother.
“You can play the jester if you wish, but hold your tongue before my betrothed,” Jace warned Aegon who just hummed and backed away.
King Viserys weakly got to his feet, breathing heavily as he did so, “It both gladdens my heart and fills me with sorrow to see these faces around the table. The faces most dear to me in all the world, yet grown so distant from each other in the years past.”
He struggled to take off the gold mask covering half of his face, thudding it down against the table as he lifted his face, revealing the grotesque image that was hidden underneath.
“My own face is no longer a handsome one, if indeed it ever was. But tonight I wish you to see me as I am. Not just a king, but your father, your brother, your husband, and your grandsire. Who will not, it seems, walk for much further among you. Let us no longer hold ill feelings in our hearts. The crown cannot stand strong if the house of the dragon remains divided. But set aside your grievances, if not for the sake of the crown then for the sake of this old man who loves you all so dearly.” He breathed out heavily and sank back into his chair with the help of his wife.
Rhaenyra rose to her feet and held up her cup, “I wish to raise my cup to Her Grace, the Queen. I love my father but I must admit that no one has stood more loyally by his side than his good wife. She has tended to him with unfailing devotion, love, and honor. And for that, she has my gratitude. And my apology.” She finished as she sat back down.
“Your graciousness moves me deeply, Princess. We are both mothers and we love our children. We have more in common than we sometimes allow,” The queen started before standing up just as her stepdaughter had done, “I raise my cup to you, and to your house. You will make a fine queen.”
With the formalities done everyone all took small sips of their drinks, looking around at each other while they began to eat, the only sounds in the room being the clanking of silverware against plates. Aegon downed the rest of his cup and had stood up, pushing himself in between Jace and Daena to reach the pitcher of wine in front of them.
“I regret the disappointment you are soon to suffer, Sister.” He told Daena as he poured more liquid into his cup, “But if you ever wish to know what it is like to be well satisfied, all you have to do is ask. I have friends who are very experienced and would be happy to pleasure a princess.”
Jace slammed his fists down on the table, standing up from as he seat as Aegon smirked and went back to his own. Everyone in the room turned their attention toward the younger of the two princes.
“Jace,” Daena said lightly, resting her hand on top of his.
Aemond stood up as well from beside Laenora as he and Jace started at each other intensely. Laenora stared up at her betrothed, curious to see what he would do next. Everyone was silent, waiting for the blowout that was sure to ensue.
But instead Jace composed himself and picked up his cup, punching Aegon in the arm as if they were great friends.
“To Prince Aegon and Prince Aemond. We have not seen each other in years, but I have fond memories of our shared youth. And as men, I hope we may yet be friends and allies. To you and your family’s good health, dear uncles.”
He raised his cup and took a drink, giving Aegon’s arm another light punch as he went to sit back down to which his uncle gruffly responded, “To you as well.”
Aemond looked down at Laenora, who was still waiting to see what he would do, and grumbled before he sat back down in his seat as well, not looking too thrilled at the lack of a fight that he was sure would break out.
“Well done, my boy.” The King praised Jace’s kind words towards his uncles.
Next it was Helaena’s turn to stand, “I would like to toast to Daena and Laenora. They’ll be married soon. It isn’t so bad. Mostly he just ignores you…except sometimes when he’s drunk.” There was awkward scattered laughter around the room as she was clearly speaking about her own marriage to Aegon.
She awkwardly sat back down in her chair and Otto whispered to his granddaughter, “Good.”
“Let us have music.” The king announced and that marked the end of the toasts as the lively music began playing and everyone broke out into separate little conversations amongst ourselves.” Jace stood up once more and held his hand out for Daena to take, who excepted eagerly, while Luke stood and walked around the table to offer his to Helaena, who also accepted.
The two pairs walked a few feet away from the table and began to dance, laughing joyfully along to the music.
The rest of the dinner was spent with everyone talking and laughing with each other, recalling their fondest memories together. For the first time in a very long time they felt like a family. Even Rhaenyra and Queen Alicent were smiling fondly at each other.
Once the king seemed to be in great pain the queen softly motioned for the guards to take him back to his chambers. As he was carried out a great steaming pig was brought in and placed in front of Aemond.
Laenora heard Lucerys chuckle quietly as he saw it, remembering the cruel prank that he, Jace, and Aegon had once played on Aemond when they were children. He kept laughing as Aemond glared at him.
Laenora was about to scold her younger brother when Aemond slammed his fist down on the table and stood up, just as Jace had earlier in the night. The music stopped suddenly.
“Final tribute,” Aemond started, holding up his cup, “To my dear niece, who will soon be my wife. And to the health of my nephews. Jace, Luke, and Joffrey. Each of them handsome, wise,” He hesitated slightly, as if he wasn’t sure if he should continue, “Strong.”
“Aemond,” His mother said, warning him to stop.
But he continued, “Come, let us drain our cups to these three Strong boys.”
“I dare you to say that again,” Jace challenged from where he had been dancing with Daena.
“Why? ‘Twas only a compliment.” He and Jace began to walk towards each other, “Do you not think yourself Strong?”
Jacaerys snapped, punching Aemond.
“Jace!” Rhaenrya and her daughter yelled as Luke stood up from his chair to come to his brother’s defense.
“That is enough!” Alicent yelled as Aegon grabbed Luke and slammed him down on the table.
Laenora stood up from her chair and shoved Aegon away from Luke, “Touch my brother again, I dare you.”
Aemond shoved Jace, causing him to fall to the ground. Jace got to his feet, ready to go for his uncle again until he was grabbed by guards. Aemond chuckled as his nephew struggled against those who held him. He turned and caught his brother grabbing Laenora’s wrist tightly.
“And what will you do, little niece?” Aegon asked her condescendingly as he tightened his grip even more, causing Laenora to wince slightly.
But as quickly as he had grabbed ahold of her he was snatched away by Aemond, who was already worked up and didn’t like seeing Aegon touching what belonged to him, especially in a way that caused her pain.
He hissed in his brother’s face, “Keep your drunken hands to yourself. You will not touch my betrothed ever again.”
Aegon just laughed in amusement at his brother’s anger and walked away to down his fifth cup. Before Laenora could say anything to Aemond Alicent had grabbed him and pulled him away, “Why would you say such a thing before these people?” She whispered harshly.
“I was merely expressing how proud I am of my family, Mother. Though it seems my nephews aren’t quite as proud of theirs.” He ripped his arm away from his mother and turned toward Jace again. Laenora walked over and stood between the two of them.
“That is enough,” She told him firmly. He stared down at her while she glared up at him. He might’ve saved her from Aegon but he had, and still was, insulting her brothers, and she would not let that go so easily.
Finally he hummed and turned away just as Jace had broken free from his hold and went for his uncle again. He was angry.
At the noise Aemond turned back around and pushed Laenora out of the way so she wouldn’t get hurt.
“Wait, wait!” Daemon called, stepping in front of Jace. He raised his hand to tell his stepson to back off and Jace obeyed, turning and walking away towards Luke.
“Go to your quarters. All of you, now.” Rhaenyra ordered her sons and stepdaughters as the feast was over and their friendly family facade was now over.
The four of them obeyed as Daemon stared at Aemond, daring him to do something. The two of them glared at each other for a moment before Aemond finally grumbled and walked past Daemon and out of the room.
Daemon followed him out and Laenora did as well after her mother had motioned for her to return to her chambers.
Once Laenora was back in her room and her handmaiden had removed all of the pins and braids and twists that kept her hair in its intricate style she stood up and ran her hand through her soft dark curls with a sigh. Tonight’s fiasco didn’t make her anymore confident in her upcoming nuptials.
She didn’t know how Aemond felt. He’d protected her from Aegon and from getting hurt when Jace wanted to fight him, but yet he still insulted her brothers and herself by extension. Surely he should know better if he was going to attempt to actually be a good husband.
Just then there was a knock at the door. Confused as to who would be knocking at this time of night Laenora motioned for her handmaiden to open the door and in stepped her betrothed himself.
“Leave us,” She ordered her handmaiden who obeyed, closing the door behind her. Laenora then turned to her future husband.
“What do you want Aemond?” She asked exhaustedly, not wanting anymore trouble tonight.
“Must a man want something to see his betrothed?” He answered.
She laughed humorlessly, “After the chaos you caused tonight? I’m just glad you at least waited until His Grace had left the room.”
“Oh come on. I was just having a bit of fun,” He took a step closer, to which she took a step back. He noticed the gesture and smirked, “Do I intimidate you, Niece?”
“No, you vex me,” She replied.
“Is that so?” He asked tauntingly, backing her into the wall. She gasped lightly when her back hit the wall and he didn’t stop, resting his hand on her waist and leaning in until she could feel his breath on her face.
“Yes,” She breathed out. He leaned in so that his lips were practically touching her ear, causing a shiver to run down her spine.
“Then why are you reacting to me like this?” He whispered as her body subconsciously moved closer to his. He slowly moved his hand so that it was resting on the small of her back.
Her knees felt weak and she used both of her hands to brace herself on the wall behind her as Aemond began placing small kisses all over her neck and collar bone. She was breathing heavily, clenching her legs together as a sensation she had never felt began to build between her thighs.
She moaned softly and all of a sudden Aemond had pulled away.
“Goodnight, Laenora.” He smirked at her and left the room, leaving his niece feeling confused and frustrated.

Aemond Targaryen X Fem!OC Fic || chapter IV
Fic Masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Tegon kesīr vermithor,” Princess Laenora, now a woman grown, instructed her dragon.
Vermithor obeyed his rider, his landing shaking the ground for miles. Vermax and Arrax landed on either side of him. Their was a carriage waiting for Laenora and her brothers.
“My Princes, Princess,” The driver greeted them with a respectful bow, “Welcome home. Your family’s ship has just docked, I expect their carriage will be arriving at the Red Keep shortly. Shall we?”
The siblings got into the carriage and settled into the plush seats as they began their bumpy journey towards the castle of Kings Landing, a place which they had not been in years.
Upon news of Corlys Velaryon’s illness Vaemond Velaryon had requested an audience in the capital to petition the succession of Driftmark. He claimed it should be him to fill the position should his brother succumb to his blood fever. The news of it had infuriated Laenora to no end. How dare he try to take what belonged to her brother.
Princess Rhaenyra, Prince Daemond, and all of their children had left for Kings Landing immediately. The King’s daughter would not allow Vaemond to petition for himself without being able to defend her son’s claim for herself.
“You don’t look very worried for a man who’s birthright is being questioned. I suppose you are just excited to see Daena again. How long has it been now, a month?” Laenora teased Jacaerys, knowing that he and their aunt had been meeting in secret frequently over the past few years. Jace’s cheeks turned pink in embarrassment. Luke laughed at the reaction.
“And what about you, Sister? Is there anyone you are looking forward to seeing?” Lucerys asked.
“Well I suppose I will be happy to see Daena again as well. And Helaena and our grandsire.” There was someone else she was curious to see as well but she wouldn’t say it out loud, especially not to her brothers.
But of course Jace and Luke knew. Laenora was too good of friends with a certain uncle of theirs for her to not be at all interested in seeing him, despite the way things ended the last time.
“I have made a decision,” Jace told his siblings, changing the subject.
“And what would that be?” Laenora asked.
“I am going to ask the King for Daena’s hand. I would like to make her my wife.”
“Oh Jace, that’s wonderful! I’m sure the king will be thrilled.” She responded.
Just then the carriage came to a stop. Laenora looked out the window to see that they had arrived and just minutes after her mother and stepfather had.
“The Princess Laenora Velaryon,” Steffon Darklyn announced, “Along with the Prince Jacaerys Velaryon and the Prince Lucerys Velaryon.”
Laenora opened the door and stepped out, followed by her brothers. To her confusion there was hardly anyone there to greet them. Not even the king or queen. Daena was the only one of Viserys and Alicent’s children in attendance.
“Laenora!” The silver-haired princess rushed over to take her neice’s wrists in both of her hands, “It is so wonderful to see you again, you have grown beautifully.”
“Thank you, Princess Daena,” Laenora answered politely, smiling gracefully at her aunt, “You are beautiful as well.”
“Prince Lucerys, Prince Jacaerys,” Daena greeted her nephews, a small blush appearing on her face as she met Jace’s gaze.
“My brothers have grown as well, haven’t they, Princess? Prince Jacaerys spoke the whole way of how eager he was to see you. Hasn’t he grown handsomely?” Laenora asked in a teasing manner.
“Y-yes, of course. You’ve grown to be quite handsome, Prince Jacaerys.” Daena stuttered out. It was now turn for Jace to blush. They’d been meeting for all these years and still got flustered around each other.
The great doors opened and out rushed Lord Caswell. He walked down the steps to greet a confused Rhaenyra, bowing and grabbing her hands in his, “Welcome back, Princess.”
“Lord Caswell,” She greeted in a formal manner though her confusion was shown in her tone.
“I apologize for the lack of greeting, Princess. These days the king is too weak to leave his chambers, much less walk all the way out here, and the queen has been busy looking after the kingdom in his stead. His Grace does wish to see you in his chambers. I can escort you.”
“Thank you for your offer, Lord Caswell, but there is no need, I will see myself to the King’s chambers.”
“As you wish, Princess.”
Rhaenyra looked back at her children for a brief moment before her and Daemon started towards the King’s rooms.
“Come,” Daena, grabbed Laenora’s hand, “Take a walk with me.”
So the two of them left Jace and Luke and began a walk through the Red Keep
“Everything looks so different from when I was here last.” Laenora murmured as she took in the vast differences that had been made over the years.
“Indeed. My mother has made many changes I am afraid.” Daena responded.
“Yes, I can see that.” The two of them walked towards the courtyard, where the clanging of weapons could be heard loudly.
In the yard a small crowd had been gathered around two men who were engaged in what seemed to be a heated fight but must’ve only been an intense training session. Laenora picked out Criston Cole fairly quickly, swining his weapon at someone with long silver hair.
The Princess figured it must be one of her uncles but she couldn’t tell which one until the pair had turned so he was facing her direction and she saw the black leather eyepatch covering his left eye.
Aemond had quickly won, holding his sword to Ser Criston’s throat. The knight dropped his weapon and stepped back.
“Well done, My Prince. You’ll be winning tourney’s in no time.” He praised.
“I don’t give a shit about tourneys. Nephews,” Aemond addressed Jace and Luke, who’d also been standing by watching, “Have you come to train?”
Before either of them could respond the gates were opened and Vaemond Velaryon marched in, flanked by guards and banner men carrying the Velaryon flag. He marched right past the group, glaring at Jace, Luke, and Laenora.
Laenora looked away, catching Aemond staring as he’d just noticed her standing there with his sister. His gaze was intense and she had to look away, feeling slightly anxious. She knew by the look of him alone that he was no longer the kind, sweet boy that she’d dreamed about marrying when they were children. He looked handsome but dangerous and it made her feel uneasy.
Laenora leaned in towards Daena, “I’m feeling unwell from my journey, I would like to retreat to my chambers.”
“Of course,” Daena responded quickly, “I hope you feel better soon Princess.”
The dark haired princess nodded and walked hurriedly toward the steps. Aemond took in his niece’s appearance as she passed by him. She had grown wonderfully, the picture of beauty and grace. He wanted her immediately.
The next morning Laenora stood in the throne room with her mother and brothers as Vaemond Velaryon petitioned to the queen and the hand, who sat upon the iron throne as he listened. Laenora found it incredibly disrespectful for the man to be sitting on her grandsire’s throne.
“I have spent my entire life on Driftmark, defending my brother’s seat. I am Lord Corlys’s closest kin, his own blood. The true, unimpeachable blood of House Velaryon runs through my veins.” Vaemond spoke.
“As it does in my children, the offspring of Laenor Velaryon,” Rhaenyra started, “If you cared so much about your house’s blood, Ser Vaemond, you would not be so bold as to supplant it’s rightful heir. No, you only speak for yourself and for your own ambition.”
“You will have chance to make your own petition, Princess Rhaenyra. Do Ser Vaemond the courtesy of allowing his to be heard.” The Queen interrupted.
Vaemond turned towards Rhaenyra and her children, “What do you know of Velaryon blood, Princess? I could cut my veins and show it to you and you still would not recognize it. This is about the future and survival of my house, not yours.”
“Do it then,” Laenora told the man, “Cut open your arm and show us all your Velaryon blood. I guarantee it will look no different from that of my brothers or myself.”
Vaemond glared at her but did not respond, turning to face the iron throne once more, “My queen, my hand. This is a matter of blood, not ambition. I place the continuation of the survival of my house and my line above all. I humbly put myself before you as my brother’s successor. The lord of Driftmark and the Lord of the Tides.” Laenora scoffed at his words.
“Thank you, Ser Vaemond. Princess Rhaenyra, you may now speak for your son, Jacaerys Velaryon.” Otto Hightower announced.
Rhaenyra stepped into the place Vaemond had been standing, “If I am to grace this farce with some answer, I will start by reminding the court that nearly 20 years ago, in this very-“
The doors opened, cutting her off as everyone turned to see who has interrupted.
“King Viserys of House Targaryen, the First of his Name, King of the Andals, and the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingoms and Protector of the Realm.” A guard announced as the King shuffled into the room on his cane, hardly able to stay upright.
Otto Hightower slowly rose out of the Iron Throne in shock. Laenora smirked, knowing that the king would defend Jacaerys and her mother. Vaemond Velaryon shared a wary look with the Queen and the Hand, clearly the three of them had no expected the King to intervene in their plot that would surely favor Vaemond in the end.
“I will sit the throne today,” Viserys told Otto breathlessly as he finally reached the steps to the throne.
“Your Grace,” Otto nodded, though he didn’t look happy in the slightest.
With great struggle the King tried to climb the steps to the throne, waving off a guard who tried to help. He stumbled, his crown falling off his head and clattering to the floor. Daemon pushed in between Laenora and her mother, going to his brother to collect the crown off the ground and assist him into his seat.
Once Viserys was sat on the Iron Throne Daemon placed the crown back on his head and returned to his place.
“I must admit my confusion,” Viserys heaved, “I do not understand why petitions are being heard over a settled succession. The only one present who might offer keener insight into Lord Corlys’s wishes is the Princess Rhaenys.”
All head turned toward Corlys’s wife who spoke respectfully to her cousin, “Indeed, Your Grace. It was ever my husband’s will that Driftmark pass through Ser Laenor to his true-born son, Jacaerys Velaryon. His mind never changed. Nor did my support of him.”
“Well, then the matter is settled. Again. I hereby reaffirm Prince Jacaerys of House Velaryon as heir to Driftmark, the Driftwood Throne, and the next Lord of the Tides.” Viserys announced.
“You break law and centuries of tradition to install your daughter as heir.” Vaemond started, approaching the Iron Throne once again, “Yet you dare tell me who deserves to inherit the name Velaryon. No. I will not allow it.”
“Allow it? Do not forget yourself, Vaemond.” The King warned.
Vaemond turned and pointed at Jace in anger, shouting, “That is no true Velaryon! None of them are. And they are certainly no neice and nephews of mine.”
“I would hold your tongue when you speak of mine and my brothers’ heritage Ser Vaemond,” Laenora glared at him.
“Go to your chambers,” Rhaenyra instructed her children, “You have said enough.” She told Vaemond.
“Jacaerys is my true-born grandson. And you are no more than the second son of Driftmark.” The King said.
“You may run your house as you see fit. But you will not decide the future of mine. My house survived the Doom and a thousand tribulations besides. And gods be damned I will not see it ended on the account of this b-“ Vaemond seethed, the word hovering on his lips.
“Say it,” Daemon challenged. The room was deathly silent.
“Her children are bastards!” The man shouted finally. Jace was shaking in anger from beside his sister, who glared at Vaemond with as much malice as she could possibly muster. Luke was breathing heavily and looking around between the King, his mother, and the man speaking.
“And she is a whore,” Vaemond spoke directly to the King. Everyone in the room gasped at his words and Laenora had to hold back Jace from lunging at him, knowing it would do no good.
Viserys rose from his seat, breathing heavily and angrily as he ripped out his blade, “I will have your tongue for that.”
Daemon had pushed past Laenora and her brothers and had taken Vaemond’s head right off his body before anyone had the chance to react.
His body dropped to the ground, blood pooling all over the floor as everyone reacted. Laenora grabbed onto Jace’s arm to steady herself as she felt nauseous at the sight. Vaemond’s tongue was still connected to his body, hanging limply in the spot where his mouth had been.
“He can keep his tongue,” Rhaenyra’s husband announced casually, backing off while cleaning his sword. Laenora caught sight of Aemond, who looked impressed with what Daemon had done. She wondered if he could carelessly kill someone like that and how easily it would be to push him into doing so.
The King collapsed back into his chair weakly, groaning in pain.
“Call the maesters!” Alicent yelled as she ran to her husband.
“Father?” Rhaenyra questioned worriedly.
“Please, my love. You must take something for the pain.” Alicent pleaded with Viserys as she pulled him up.
“I will not cloud my mind. I must put things right.” With that the king was escorted out of the room, groaning as he went.
A few hours later, when she had heard that Viserys was feeling a bit better, Rhaenyra had requested a meeting with the King and Queen in the King’s chambers.
“What do you wish to discuss with us, Princess?” Queen Alicent asked her stepdaughter as she stood next to her husband’s bed.
“Well, as you know, there has been turmoil within our family for quite some time now,” Rhaenyra started, “Years ago we had discussed a betrothal between my daughter, Laenora, and your son, Aemond. I would like to propose that we consider that again. Laenora is my heir and will be queen after myself, if her and Aemond are married he will be her consort.”
“Yes, that is true,” Alicent mused. She didn’t necessarily want any of her children marrying Rhaenyra’s but she’d been rather fond of Laenora when she was a child and if it meant that her son would one day rule she could accept it. He would only be Laenora’s consort of course but it would be better than nothing.
“I think that is a marvelous idea, my child. Their marriage will unite our family, which has been divided for much too long.” Viserys replied.
Rhaenyra smiled, “There is something else, Your Grace. My son, Jacaerys, has made it known to me that he would like to request your daughter, Daena’s, hand in marriage as well.”
“Princess, surely the betrothal between my son and your daughter will be adequate in uniting the family. Wouldn’t you rather find a strategic match for your son? Lord Borros Baratheon has daughters, you could strengthen an alliance for yourself. Or create another with another respectable house.” Alicent suggested
She could deal with Aemond and Laenora being married but she wanted nothing less in the world than for her daughter to marry Jacaerys Velaryon.
“I only want the best for my children, Your Grace. A sentiment which I’m sure you can understand, as you have children of your own. No alliance could mean more to me than my children’s happiness. If I remember correctly Jace and Daena were quite fond of each other as children.” Rhaenyra responded.
“Yes but it has been years since they’ve seen each other and they are no longer children. How does your son know that my daughter will still be the same girl she once was? How is he to know that their marriage will be happy based off of how they were when they were little, running around the castle with no responsibilities?”
“I am sure that they will get along as they always have. I have raised my son to be a respectful man and I have no doubt that he would be a good husband to your daughter.”
“So be it then,” The King said, “My grandson, Jacaerys, will be granted his wish. He will marry his aunt Daena here at the red keep a week from today.”
“My love,” Alicent addressed her husband warily, “We were discussing marrying Daena and Daeron just his morning.”
Viserys waved her off, “We can find someone else for Daeron to marry. Perhaps one of Daemon’s daughters. Daena and Jacaerys will be wed, as will Laenora and Aemond. We shall make the announcement at tonight’s feast.”
“Thank you, Your Grace. If I may be excused, I would like to tell my children the good news.” Rhaenyra asked.
“Of course,” Viserys told his daughter, “Go, tell them! Tonight we will all celebrate together as a family!”
Laenora had been out for another walk with Daena when the two were approached by a young servant girl, “Princess Laenora, your mother has requested your presence in the Godswood.”
“Then I shall go there at once, thank you,” She told the girl who gave a small curtsy before she scurried off.
“If you’ll excuse me, Princess Daena,” Laenora told her aunt before she took her leave. When she made it to the Godswood she found her mother and Jace waiting there for her by the Weirwood tree.
“You summoned me, Mother?” She asked politely.
“Yes. I wanted to let the both of you know I’ve just been to see your grandsire. We have decided on a few things. Laenora, you will marry Prince Aemond. This will appease the Hightowers. None of Otto Hightower’s grandsons will ever sit upon the iron throne but with this marriage Aemond will be the future king consort and that will have to be good enough.”
Laenora didn’t know how to feel about her mother’s revelation. She knew she would have to marry soon, especially as her mother would ascend the throne any day now and she would need to marry and birth her own heirs to secure her claim as Rhaenyra’s heir. However she had not expected it to be Aemond that her mother would have her betrothed to, especially with the tense history between him and her brothers.
“As for you, Jace,” Rhaenyra continued, “The King has agreed to a betrothal between you and Princess Daena. The two of you will be wed a week from now.”
“Thank you, Mother. I look forward to it.” Jace responded contently.
Rhaenyra smiled at her son and took her daughter’s hand in hers, “I regret not asking your opinion on this betrothal beforehand, Laenora. I hope you are not dissatisfied.”
“Not at all mother. I would marry anyone if it pleases you and the King. And who will be a better match for me than Prince Aemond? My firstborn child will sit upon the iron throne one day. This union will strengthen his or her Targaryen blood, as well as the rest of my children.” Rhaenyra smiled, pleased with her daughter’s answer.
“Well go on then and get ready for the feast. That is when we will announce your betrothals to the rest of the family.” The Prince and Princess nodded and left the Godswood.
When they were out of earshot of their mother Jace turned to his sister, “How do you truly feel about your betrothal, Laenora?”
“I do not know,” She answered honestly, “Aemond and I were good friends as children but we had not seen each other in years and I still have not talked to him since we’ve been here. I don’t know what he is like now.”
Jace hummed in acknowledgment, he could understand his sister’s feelings. He had not talked to Aemond either since their arrival and yet he had seen him in the courtyard yesterday and that had been enough to convince him that their uncle had changed from when they had known him before. And now Laenora was expected to marry a man that she no longer knew. It was enough to make anyone wary.
“How about you, Jace? I imagine you are thrilled about your own betrothal. Maybe a bit nervous and rightfully so.”
“Indeed. I can only hope that I will be the husband that Daena deserves.” He responded.
“I have every confidence that you will be, Jace. I am very happy to know that your marriage will be a happy one.”
“Thank you, I hope yours will be as well.”
“We shall see,” Laenora murmured.

“We join today at the Seat of the Sea to commit the Lady Laena of House Velaryon to the eternal waters, the dominion of the Merling King where he will guard her for all the days to come as she sets to the sea for her final voyage.” Vaemond Velaryon spoke the words in High Valyrian.
It had been two weeks since Laenora had claimed Vermithor. The King and Queen and their children had only just made it back to Kings Landing when everyone was called to Driftmark for Laena Velaryon’s funeral.
Laenora stood next to her legal father, holding his hand comfortingly as Vaemond continued speaking, “The Lady Laena leaves two true-born daughters on the shore. Though their mother will not return from her voyage they will all remain bound together in blood.”
He looked at Rhaenyra and her children accusingly, “Salt courses through Velaryon blood. Ours runs thick. Ours runs true. And ours must never thin.”
Laenora shifted uncomfortably under his hateful stare. Daemon started chuckling under his breath causing Vaemond to stop talking as everyone looked at him. The average person would think it rude and inappropriate to be laughing at his wife’s funeral but Laenora knew he had done it to distract Vaemond from continuing to talk about her mother, her siblings, and herself.
And it had worked, as Vaemond continued speaking, having dropped his talk about Velaryon blood, “My gentle niece, may the winds be as strong as your back, your seas as calm as your spirit, and your nets be as full of your heart. From the sea we came, to the sea we shall return.”
Laenora watched as the stone coffin was plunged into the deep water. After that everyone gathered for drinks and conversation. The atmosphere was heavy as everyone mourned together.
“I’m very sorry for your loss, grandmother,” Laenora told her legal grandmother, “Lady Laena was always kind to me the few times we met. She will be missed dearly.”
Princess Rhaenys nodded, “Thank you child, for your kind words.”
Laenora nodded in respect and went to find Baela and Rhaena to comfort them but she found Aegon and Aemond first, staring at Helaena who was playing with a spider and mumbling more strange riddles.
“We have nothing in common,” Aegon stared at the girl in disgust.
“She’s our sister,” Aemond protested.
“You marry her then.”
“I would’ve performed my duty if mother had betrothed us,” The younger prince replied.
For some reason the comment upset Laenora and she walked away without stopping to say hello. Next she found Daena, who grabbed each of her wrists and held them gently in her hands.
“I feel deep sadness for you, Laenora. You have had not one but two losses and yet you are only able to mourn one of them.”
Yes, Ser Harwin Strong had passed away as well. It would’ve been inappropriate for the young Princess to mourn him out loud. Formally they had no relationship other than him having been her mother’s sworn protector, but Laenora had known he was her father, as well as Jace, Luke, and Joffrey’s, for many years. He had always treated her and her siblings well, as well as a father could treat his secret children. The news of his death had brought deep sadness to Laenora, though she wasn’t allowed to show it other than in the presence of her mother and brothers.
“Thank you, Daena. It is a sad time.” Laenora answered formally, “If you’ll excuse me, I would like to find Baela and Rhaena.”
“Of course,” Daena answered and released her gentle hold on her niece.
Laenora finally found the sisters sitting on a bench together away from the crowd. They were both crying.
“May I sit?” Laenora asked gently, motioning to the bench.
Her cousins didn’t say anything but scooted over to make room for her.
“I was so very sorry to hear of the passing of your mother,” She started. “I cannot begin to imagine losing my mother and yet that is now a sad reality for you both. I can only imagine that it is a true nightmare come to life.”
They both nodded, sniffling. Laenora grabbed Rhaena’s hand comfortingly, “I know your mother loved you both more than the whole world and that she would want you to have all of the support you can in this tough time. We are family and I want to be a friend and a comfort for you. If there is anything I can do for you please do not be afraid to ask.”
“Thank you, Laenora,” Baela responded dismally.
Just then Jace approached them, having been instructed by his mother to comfort his cousins before Laenora had gotten to them. The girls looked at him warily as he stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to say that would help in any way. Baela reached out and grabbed his hand, silently thanking him for trying to comfort them even if he hadn’t actually said anything.
Rhaenys approached her grandchildren and Laenora stood, directing her brother away so the two girls could talk to their grandmother alone. The siblings stood near a fire pit, watching the flickering flames.
Aemond and Daena walked up on the other side of the fire pit. Aemond gave Jace a tiny smile but Jace just stared at him. Aemond walked away without saying anything.
Laenora followed him, leaving Jace with Daena.
“I’m sorry about Jace,” She told him. “I wish the two of you could be friends. Maybe one day you will be.”
“I doubt it.” He answered sullenly, looking up at the sky. Laenora looked up too, watching the dragons flying overhead, Vermithor sticking out amongst all of the smaller dragons.
Her eyes wandered until they landed on Vhagar laying up on the hill, “She’s beautiful.”
Aemond followed her gaze and murmured in agreement, a sudden thought coming to his head.
He turned to Laenora, “She has no rider now. I could claim her, tonight. You could come with me. If she gets angry and tries to hurt us Vermithor could protect us.”
Laenora frowned at her uncle, speaking softly, “Aemond, Vhagar was Laena’s dragon. She should go to her daughter Rhaena now.”
That made him angry, “And why does she deserve a dragon and I don’t? I’m older, I’ve waited longer. I’m sure she’ll be able to choose her own egg from Syrax’s next clutch, or Dreamfyre’s. She’ll be able to hatch it and name it on her own.”
“I’m sure those things do not matter to Rhaena. She’d much rather have her mother’s dragon. And besides, it would be dangerous to go out and try to claim Vhagar on your own.”
“You claimed Vermithor by yourself in the middle of the night and it went fine for you.” He answered bitterly.
“I wasn’t by myself. You were the one trying to claim Vermithor. He would’ve killed you if I hadn’t been there. What if it goes badly and Vhagar tries to kill you just like he did?” She asked him.
“Come with me and I won’t be alone. Vermithor will protect you and he will protect me if you are there.”
Laenora shook her head, “Going out in the middle of the night was irresponsible and reckless of me, of us. I promised my mother and the King that I would never do anything like it again and I don’t think you should either.”
“Fine,” Aemond responded angrily, “Don’t come with me then but I’m going and you can’t stop me.” And with that he stomped off while Laenora watched forlornly.
Later that night Laenora lied in bed, unable to find sleep. Aemond’s words were echoing through her head
You can’t stop me.
She could’ve if she wanted to. She could’ve told someone, the King perhaps. He could’ve forbidden Aemond from going, had guards placed outside his room so he couldn’t leave. She wished she had. She hoped Aemond had listened to her and decided not to go after all. But the overwhelming feeling that something horrible was going to happen was eating away at her.
Finally she couldn’t ignore it any longer and got out of bed, stepping into her slippers. She had barely made it a step out of her chambers when she was nearly trampled by guards running past in a hurry, they didn’t even stop to question why the young princess was leaving her chambers at this time of night.
She followed them, the feeling of dread in her stomach increasing with each step. She gasped at what she saw. Aemond had been injured badly, a long deep cut now running down his face directly over his left eye. He was sat in a chair, wincing and squirming as the maester tended to his face.
“It will heal, will it not, maester?” Queen Alicent asked warily.
“The flesh will heal, but the eye is lost, Your Grace.” He answered.
“Where were you?” Alicent asked her oldest son who was standing by with Daeron and his sisters. Aemond looked over and saw Laenora standing there with glassy eyes as she took in his injury. He looked at the ground shamefully.
A door opened and Lord Corlys and his wife descended the stairs down to where everyone was gathered.
“What is the meaning of this?” Corlys asked as Baela and Rhaena ran toward their grandmother, who comforted them as she asked them what had happened.
Rhaenyra then entered the room, gently pushing past her daughter to get to her sons, who had also been injured, though not nearly as badly as Aemond.
She kneeled in front of Luke, who was crying and holding his bleeding nose, “Show me, show me.”
“Who did this?” She asked out loud.
“They attacked me!” Aemond claimed, turning around in his chair to answer his half sister angrily.
“He attacked Baela! He broke Luke’s nose!” Jace defended. Soon all of the children involved were shouting over each other, trying to justify their actions.
“He stole my mother’s dragon!” Rhaena yelled.
“He was gonna kill Jace!” Luke cried. At that comment Laenora looked at Aemond again. Him and her brothers had never gotten along but she couldn’t believe he’d do such a thing.
“Enough.” Viserys said. When none of them listened he said it louder and with more authority, still it did nothing.
“It should be my son telling the tale!” Alicent proclaimed angrily.
“Silence!” The king shouted, finally putting an end to the shouting.
Laenora heard Jace whisper something to their mother but she hadn’t been standing close enough to hear it. Rhaenrya stood and turned, standing in front of her sons as she motioned for her daughter to come to them. The young princess obeyed her mother immediately.
“Aemond, I will have the truth of what happened. Now.” Viserys told his son as he walked towards him on his cane.
“What else is there to hear? Your son has been maimed, her son is responsible.” Alicent told her husband.
“It was a regrettable accident,” Rhaenyra defended, holding onto her children protectively.
“Accident?” The Queen asked in disbelief, “The Prince Lucerys brought a blade to the ambush. He meant to kill my son.”
“It was my sons who were attacked and forced to defend themselves.” Rhaenyra rose her voice, “Vile insults were levied against them.”
“What insults?” Viserys asked.
“The legitimacy of my childrens’ birth was put loudly to question.”
“What?”
“His called us bastards,” Jace told his grandsire.
“My children are in line to inherit the Iron Throne, Your Grace. This is the highest of treasons. Prince Aemond must be sharply questioned so we may learn where he heard such slanders.”
“Over an insult?” Alicent asked, “My son has lost an eye!”
“You tell me boy,” Viserys told Aemond, “Where did you hear this lie?”
Alicent tried to defend her son but Viserys insisted on Aemond answering him.
“Where is Ser Laenor, I wonder. The boys’ father? Perhaps he may have something to say in the matter.” The Queen asked, trying to redirect her husband’s attention.
“Yes. Where is Ser Laenor?” Viserys asked.
“I do not know, Your Grace. I could not find sleep, I’d gone out to walk.” Rhaenyra answered.
“Entertaining his young squires, I would venture.” Alicent replied. Laenora glared at her for her comment.
“Aemond, look at me. Your King demands an answer. Who spoke these lies to you?” The energy in the room was tense as the King awaited his answer.
Finally Aemond spoke, “It was Aegon.”
“Me?” Aegon questioned as Viserys turned his attention to him.
“And you, boy? Where did you hear such calumnies.” He walked towards his oldest son.
When he didn’t answer right away Viserys shouted in his face, “Aegon! Tell me the truth of it!”
“We know, Father.” Aegon answered, “Everyone knows. Just look at them.”
He looked over at Rhaenyra’s children and most of the eyes in the room followed. Laenora squirmed under all of their gazes. It was quiet in the room until Viserys yelled again.
“This interminable infighting must cease! All of you! We are family! Now make your apologies and show good will to one another. Your father, your grandsire, your King demands it!” He ordered before her started towards the door to retreat back to his chambers.
“That is insufficient,” Alicent stopped her husband in his tracks, “Aemond has been damaged permanently, My King. Good will cannot make him whole.”
“I know, Alicent. But I cannot restore his eye.”
“No because it’s been taken.”
“What would you have me do?” He asks her angrily.
“There is a debt to be paid. I shall have one of her son’s eyes in return.” The room broke into murmuring at the Queen’s extreme request.
Laenora stepped in front of her brother protectively. She wondered how close Vermithor was, if he would hear her shout if Alicent tried to harm Lucerys. She would the whole room down and more to protect her brother.
Aemond turned around in his chair to look back at Rhaenrya and her children. Laenora refused to look at him as she kept her glare on Alicent.
“My dear wife,” Viserys started sternly.
“He is your son Viserys!” She cried, “Your blood!”
“Do not allow your temper to guide your judgement.” Viserys warned her, turning to leave again.
“If the King will not seek justice the Queen will. See Criston, bring me the eye of Lucerys Velaryon.” Alicent ordered.
“Mother,” Luke cried in fear as Laenora tightened her hold on him and Rhaenyra pushed them both behind her as Viserys scolded Alicent.
“He can choose which eye to keep, a privilege which he did not grant my son.”
“You will do no such thing,” Rhaenyra said firmly.
“Stay your hand,” Viserys ordered Ser Criston.
“No, you are sworn to me!” Alicent yelled.
Criston hesitated for a moment, “As your protector, my Queen.”
“Alicent, this matter is finished. Do you understand?” The King asked her sternly. He began to walk away again, stopping to make one more announcement, “And let it be known, anyone whos tongue dares to question the birth of Princess Rhaenyra’s children should have it removed.”
“Thank you Father,” Rhaenyra told him.
But Alicent wasn’t done and when Viserys had turned to leave she approached him quickly, grabbing the blade he had on him. Chaos ensued as she turned and stalked toward Rhaenyra and her children, blade held high.
The Princess met Alicent before she could even get close her son, grabbing both of her arms so she couldn’t hurt her or her children. Laenora held on to both of her brothers tightly. Luke screamed in fear before the three siblings were shielded by their legal grandparents along with Baela and Rhaena.
Ser Criston ignored Ser Harrold’s orders and advanced on the the two women to defend the Queen. Prince Daemon stepped in his way and stopped him before he could get to them.
Laenora bent down to her younger brother, “It is okay Luke. She will not hurt you. Mother won’t allow it. Neither will the king and neither will I. You are safe, I promise you.”
She stood back up and Lucerys threw his arms around her, leaning his head on her chest while she held him with one arm and Jace with the other.
Alicent suddenly pushed herself away from Rhaenyra sending the Princess stumbling back into Lord Corlys, holding her arm where it immediately started dripping blood from Alicent accidentally slicing her.
“Mother!” Laenora cried, leaving her brothers behind Lord Corlys and his wife to go to her mother as she saw that she’d been injured. She hugged her from the side as she sent daggers at Alicent who watched, stunned as she watched the blood drip down Rhaenyra’s arm and onto the floor.
The room was deathly silent. Rhaenyra and Laenora both looked at Aemond, who had gotten up and was now walking towards his mother.
“Do not mourn me, Mother. It was a fair exchange. I may have lost an eye but I gained a dragon.” So he had claimed Vhagar. Laenora knew it wouldn’t end well if he did but he hadn’t listened to her.
“This proceeding is at an end,” Viserys finally said for the last time before he turned and left.
The guards that had been holding onto Ser Criston released him and he went to the queen, picking up the blade that she had let drop to the floor in her shock. Aemond went to his mother and leaned his head on her chest.
With the danger over Luke and Jace came to rejoin their mother and sister as Daemon walked over to stand with them as well.
Laenora looked at Aemond and felt anger. He had done what she’d advised him not to and it had ended up with not only himself but also her brothers being hurt. He’d been the one to hurt them. He’d attacked them, insulted them, tried to kill them. For the first time she felt as though they were what Alicent encouraged them to be, enemies.

Aemond Targaryen X Fem!OC Fic || chapter II
Fic Masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Laenora had made it back to her chambers unseen and had collapsed onto her bed from exhaustion.
“Where have you been?” A voice asked, causing the young princess to jump and sit up hastily.
It was her mother, who had gone unnoticed by her daughter as she stood next to the vanity. She was looking at Laenora with a stern questioning look.
She thought about lying but she knew it would do now use, her mother could read her like a book and she was filthy and stunk like dragon.
“I went out to find a dragon,” She confessed, “I was jealous. Jace and Luke and all of my uncles have dragons besides Aemond. Even Daena has one. I just wanted a dragon of my own.”
She didn’t tell her mother about Aemond being with her or how she had wanted him to claim Vermithor, it would make no difference to lie now and despite the insult her uncle had thrown at her she didn’t want him to get in trouble.
Rhaenyra sighed and wrapped her arms around her daughter, who rested her head against her chest, “Oh my sweet girl. Dragon or no dragon, you are a Targaryen. Your worth is not measured by whether you own a dragon or not. What you did was very irresponsible and dangerous, Laenora. You could’ve gotten killed. You must promise me that you will never do anything like that again.”
Laenora nodded, “I promise I won’t.”
“Now, you smell like dragon. Which one did you claim?”
The young girl smiled at her mother’s question, “Vermithor.”
“Vermithor? He is one of the largest dragons alive Laenora, well done.” Rhaenyra praised, impressed that her daughter was able to claim such a large beast.
Laenora beamed up at her mother, happy to receive the praise, but deep down she still felt guilty about Aemond. She now had Vermithor while he was still dragonless. Surely the other boys would tease him even more now.
“Get cleaned up, your grandsire wishes for us all to have breakfast together,” Rhaenyra kissed Laenora’s forehead and left the room.
The young princess did as she was told, having some servants draw a bath for her. By the time she arrived at breakfast the rest of her family was already at the table waiting. She sat between Daena and Helaena, across from Aemond who refused to look at her.
“How lovely of you to join us at last, Laenora,” The Queen told her. Laenora looked down in embarrassment and apologized as everyone began eating.
“Veraxes is growing quickly. They say I may be able to ride her within the month.” Daena told her niece excitedly as the two of them chatted while they ate.
“That’s great Daena, I’m sure you’re very excited.” Laenora responded.
“So, Laenora. Your mother told me that you claimed a dragon last night,” King Viserys spoke loudly, “And Vermithor at that? That is no small feat.”
“I apologize, Your Grace. Leaving the castle at night was reckless and dangerous of me. I’ve already promised my mother that I will never do it again.” Laenora replied, thinking she was going to be scolded.
Viserys waved off the apology, “Don’t apologize child. You are a Targaryen, you should have a dragon. It is in your blood.”
At the king’s words Laenora looked at Aemond, knowing the words must’ve hurt him. He only stared down at the table, playing with his fork.
“Thank you, Your Grace.” She answered finally and her grandsire nodded before turning his attention back to his food.
“You claimed Vermithor?” Jace asked in disbelief. Laenora nodded.
“May we see him?” Luke asked excitedly.
“Of course,” She smiled at her younger brother, “After breakfast. You all can come as well.” She looked at each of her aunts and uncles who all seemed thrilled with the idea except for Aemond who still refused to even look at her.
Laenora hoped he wouldn’t stay angry for too long, she didn’t want her closest friend mad at her.
After breakfast as promised Laenora led her young family memebrs outside Dragonstone’s walls to where Vermithor had stayed. Aegon had insisted bringing a goat with for the enormous beast to feast on. Laenora supposed it was just because he wanted to see Vermithor set the animal on fire but she didn’t mind, the dragon deserved a treat after all of the flying he had done last night.
Aemond had tagged along simply because he didn’t want to be left behind and because he secretly wanted to see Vermithor up close in the light.
“Woah,” Lucerys mumbled, staring up at the dragon.
“How does it feel, Jace, knowing that your sister now has a larger dragon then you?” Aegon nudged Jacaerys, always the one to try to pick a fight.
“And how do you feel Aemond? He puts Sunfyre to shame for sure,” Jace bit back, not falling for Aegon’s attempt to taunt him.
“At least I have a dragon,” Aegon answered, a clear jab at Aemond who was standing set back from the group but had still heard his brother’s words and was looking at the ground like he always did when Aegon said things like that.
“That wasn’t nice, Aegon.” Laenora scolded her uncle. He rolled his eyes, used to Laenora’s defending Aemond by now. Of course it wouldn’t get him to stop, it never did.
“Aemond,” Laenora called to him, motioning to the goat, “Would you like to give him the order?”
He looked up at the dragon and then back at Laenora, “He isn’t mine. He won’t listen to me.”
“He will if I tell him too,” She responded.
“Gaomagon hae ziry commands,” She ordered Vermithor before turning back to Aemond, “Go on now, say it.”
He stepped forward hesitantly. If he did what Laenora told him to and Vermithor didn’t listen it would mortifying and Aegon would never let him live it down.
“Come on, Aemond, you can do it!” Daena encouraged her brother.
Aemond looked back at his siblings, all of whom looked supportive besides Aegon who had a smug smile on his face as if he was waiting for his brother to fail. Jace and Lucerys were just watching the scene unfold as they continued to take in Vermithor’s size.
“Dracarys!” Aemonds finally yelled, trying to make his voice sound as authoritative as possible.
Without a second thought Vermithor opened his mouth and flames spewed out, engulfing the goat who had no time to react before it was cooked alive.
All of the children stepped back in awe, Jace putting his arm out in front of Daena protectively, as they watched the dragon breathe more buring flames then any of theirs could even come close to producing.
Laenora and Daena and even Helaena cheered for Aemond as Vermithor ate his prize. Jace and Luke and Daeron looked impressed that the boy had actually managed to get the dragon to listen to him. Aegon just rolled his eyes at the praise his brother was receiving.
Laenora and Aemond made eye contact and he smiled at her and she knew that he was no longer angry with her. Truthfully Aemond had known he’d overreacted the second he’d gotten back to his chambers last night. He knew Laenora wouldn’t intentionally hurt him and he was happy that she finally had a dragon of her own even though he still didn’t.
But of course Aemond was ever so stubborn and admitting he was wrong was never his strong suit.
As they all walked back towards the castle Laenora let herself fall back to walk beside her uncle, “I’m sorry about last night.”
Apologies weren’t a strength that Aemond possessed either but he wanted to make things right with Laenora and he knew he’d hurt her last night as well, “I am too. For what I called you. I never should have said that.”
She smiled at him, “It is alright. I do not blame you for something you said in anger. And you will have a dragon of your own one day, I know it.”
“He will trade one eye for two.” Helaena mumbled from behind them, though Laenora and Aemond hadn’t heard her strange words.

Aemond Targaryen X Fem!OC Fic || chapter I
Fic Masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Aemond,” Eleven year old Laenora Velaryon whispered, shaking her slightly older uncle’s shoulder lightly as she stood next to his bed.
When he didn’t move she shook him a little harder and whispered his name a little louder. He stirred and rubbed his eyes before opening them and peering up at his niece in confusion.
“Laenora? What are you doing in here?” The thirteen year old prince asked.
“Get up, let’s go!” Laenora whispered excitedly.
“Go where? It’s the middle of the night.”
“It’s a surprise. Just get up.”
He groaned and got out of bed, sluggishly dressing himself before Laenora urged him to follow her.
The two of them crept silently through the halls of Dragonstone, where King Viserys, along with the queen and all of their children had come to visit.
Laenora pulled Aemond out of a secret exit, away from the dark castle and into the night.
“Seriously Laenora, where are we going? We shouldn’t be leaving the castle alone at this time of the night. If anyone finds out-“
“They won’t.” The young princess assured him and he nodded but didn’t look convinced.
Laenora kept trekking along the stoney landscape of Dragonstone while Aemond followed along silently, still looking uncertain.
Finally the two of them approached their destination and Aemond looked confused as ever they stood at the entrance of a large smoking cave of the Dragonmont.
“What are we doing here?” Aemond asked his neice.
“We’re going to find you a dragon,” Laenora answered and walked through the entrance into the smoking abyss. When she didn’t feel movement behind her she turned to see her uncle still standing outside the cave.
“Well, what are you waiting for? Come on.” She urged and he followed reluctantly.
They walked in silence for a moment as Laenora listened and searched for the beast that she’d read about many times. After some inquiring from servants and others living on Dragonstone she had learned that he is believed to reside in this very cave and she was determined to find him.
Aemond had always been ruthlessly teased by by Aegon and Laenora’s brothers all of his life for his lack of dragon. It was the reason Laenora and Aemond were such good friends, for she had no dragon either. Both of them had eggs placed in their cradles as babies and neither of them had hatched. None of the boys ever teased Laenora for it though, except maybe the occasional comment from Aegon.
Laenora hated the way the other boys treated Aemond because he didn’t have a dragon. Just recently they had pulled a cruel prank where they told him they’d found him a dragon only to present him with a pig. None of them would dare tease him again if he claimed the dragon she had in mind.
“Are you sure there’s a dragon in here? I don’t he-“ Aemond was cut off by a low growl from deeper inside the cave. Laenora shined the torch she held and watched as the flame Illuminated the monstrous beast.
He was huge and bronze-colored with large wings. His breathing nearly shook the cave. Aemond gasped quietly from beside Laenora as they both took in the size of the dragon before them.
“His name is Vermithor,” Laenora told Aemond, “Most people call him the Bronze Fury. He was ridden by King Jaehaerys I until his death and he’s been living here in this cave ever since. He’s one of the largest dragons alive.”
The dragon watched the children cautiously as they both stood a safe distance away. Aemond didn’t answer as he kept staring up at Vermithor.
“Well go on, go up to him.” Laenora urged, pushing her uncle lightly towards the large creature.
The silver-haired boy cautiously moved slowly closer to the dragon, who rose up from his laying position and growled lightly.
Aemond looked back at his niece in uncertainty and she nodded, silently coaxing him to keep going.
“Rytsas vermithor.” Aemond greeted lightly in high valyrian, holding his hand up to the dragon.
Vermithor growled again and Aemond stepped closer, flinching slightly as the beast moved his head closer to the boy’s outstretched hand.
“Dohaeragon issa vermithor.” Aemond spoke again, his hand inches away from the dragon’s face now.
Taking Vermithor’s calm demeanor as a step closer to claiming the dragon the boy smiled back at Laenora but just as he turned the beast roared loudly and angrily, sending Aemond flying back into the dirt.
The Bronze Fury opened his large mouth and both of the children felt the heat radiate from deep inside his throat, ready to spew a wall of flames.
Without thinking Laenora jumped in front of her uncle, who sat in the dirt looking wide eyed at the dragon who’d just rejected him, and raised her hand up in the air.
“Daor, vermithor! Dohaeragon issa!” She screamed at the beast.
He let out a low growl and she closed her eyes, preparing for the flames to consume her. But when they never came she opened her eyes to see the dragon had closed his mouth and moved his head closer to her outstretched hand.
Laenora let him come closer, too afraid to move and anger him. He came closer and closer slowly until finally the young princess’s hand was resting on the side of his scaled face.
She cautiously looked up into his large eye and he let out get another low growl but it didn’t sound dangerous this time.
Laenora let out a breath she didn’t know she had been holding, removing her hand away from his face as he stared down at her in wonder.
She had been so caught up in accidentally claiming a dragon that she had forgotten Aemond was even there until she heard, “How could you?”
Laenora turned towards her uncle and friend, who had gotten to his feet and was staring at her in anger.
“Aemond I didn’t-“
“Did Aegon and Jace and Luke put you up to this? Did you lure me all the way out here just so I could watch you claim a dragon?!” He yelled.
“No! Aemond I brought you out here so you could claim him, I swear! I just didn’t want them to tease you anymore. I didn’t know this would happen. It was an accident.” Laenora protested, reaching out to touch his shoulder.
He jerked away, glaring at her.
Vermithor growled from behind her, already protective of his new rider.
“Ziry’s okay vermithor,” She assured him, which seemed to make Aemond even more angry.
He turned to leave and Laenora reached out again, “Aemond wai-“
“Stay away from me, bastard.” He spat at her.
She dropped her hand in hurt and disbelief. Aemond had called Jace, Luke, and even Joffrey bastards plenty of times but he’d never called her one before.
Laenora watched helplessly as he stomped away and disappeared from sight. She knew she should’ve gone after him but she couldn’t bring myself to, his insult had hurt the girl.
She wiped away a stray tear that she hadn’t noticed had escaped and turned, walking towards the rope ladder that hung down the side of Vermithor’s body, climbing it until she reached the saddle that was once ridden by King Jaehaerys I.
The princess settled into it and secured herself with the ropes before grabbing onto the handles of the saddle.
“Soves!” She shouted and Vermithor stood up at once. Laenora clutched onto the handles as tightly as I could as she was jerked around in the saddle, having never ridden a dragon before and not being accustomed to how they moved.
She continued to hold on tightly as Vermithor walked out of the cave, shaking the ground as he did so.
“Soves!” She yelled again as they left the cave and without a second thought Vermithor began to flap his wings and finally left the ground, soaring up high into the dark sky.
The sun had begun to rise by the time Laenora had instructed Vermithor to land outside the walls of the castle.
She climbed down the rope ladder and walked forward so that she could look her dragon in his eye.
“Ao gōntan sȳrī vermithor,” She praised him, rubbing her hand down his scaled cheek.
“Nyke jāhor sagon arlī tolī,” She promised before backing away and heading back toward the castle.

Well the time has come where I have found myself a new hyperfixation so of course I have to write about it. This is the first time I’ve written an OC fix since years ago back in my Wattpad days so bare with me!
Disclaimer- I am currently learning High Valyrian on Duolingo but I am nowhere close to mastering it so all of the High Valyrian in this fic will be via a translation website so I apologize if there are any mistakes. Translations will be provided at the end of each chapter.
Translations-
Rytsas Vermithor - Hello Vermithor
Dohaeragon issa vermithor - Serve me Vermithor
Daor, vermithor! Dohaeragon issa! - No, Vermithor! Serve me!
Ziry’s okay vermithor - It’s okay Vermithor
Soves - Fly
Ao gōntan sȳrī vermithor - You did well Vermithor

Aemond Targaryen x Fem!OC Fic
Fic Masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This story will contain swearing, violence, death, sexual situations, and more. Basically anything you would expect from a House of the Dragon fic.
This story will deviate from canon a lot in later chapters
I know that Adelaide Kane is so overused as a HOTD face claim right now but she is so beautiful and I think she fits being Rhaenyra and Harwin’s daughter quite well so add this to the list of fics that have used her.
Yes, Laenora claimed Vermithor because I’m an unrealistic author who wants her main character to have one of the largest dragons alive. Also Aemond and Laenora power couple with Vhagar and Vermithor? I think yes.
This is my first time writing an OC fic in years so bare with me!

This means so much to me 🥺💜 thank you so much!
It’s come to my attention that my dear friend @mackenzielovee is getting hate for the way she writes her imagines and I’m very disappointed in the people that not only are being bullies but are too cowardly to show who they are when they send the hateful messages! If you don’t like what @mackenzielovee or any other author writes don’t read their work! It’s pathetic that you don’t have anything better to do then send hate to people that don’t deserve it! I’m not making this post because I think Kenzie can’t take up for herself I know she can but I’m still going to stand up for her because she is a beautiful sweet person that doesn’t deserve to have hateful things spat at her just because someone doesn’t like what she posts. I will not allow my one of my friends to get hate because she’s writing stuff you don’t like. It is not the authors job to write for the readers! Authors write for themselves and no one else! The next time you want to send a hateful message to not only Kenzie but any other one of these wonderful writers don’t be a coward and make your self anonymous make yourself known so that I can report you and make sure you get banned from tumblr!!!! I really hate to come on the one place I use to get away from the sucky world we are living in right now! Tumblr is where I come to get away from Covid, when I’m having a bad day, when I had a very hard working day at work and I don’t want to come on here and see things like this! Please be nice to people on here or leave it’s pretty simple! I get if you don’t like everything everyone writes neither do I but guess what if I don’t like it I don’t read it!
