Simon Hendricks paced the hall of the apartment he shared with his girlfriend, shocked as he watched her pack while her best friend Jenny fawned over the news. He and Madison had been a couple for the past six months, the last two of which they had decided to live together.
Rent in New York City was astronomical to say the least. Both thought it would be a smart decision to share a place since their individual leases were expiring. Now, suddenly, after randomly applying for a job she didn’t even want, Madison was moving out? It just didn’t sit right with Simon. She was leaving him high and dry with a mediocre place he couldn’t afford while she would would live in the lap of luxury on someone else’s dime.
“I just… I can’t believe you’re doing this,” Simon commented, interrupting Jenny’s insane thirst for Madison’s new boss. “What does this mean for us?”

The main Christmas tree in the formal living room of Chadley’s mansion went up the day after Thanksgiving. Several more trees were put up over the next week. One in the family room, one in the master bedroom, another in the basement rec room, and a two-story tree in the center of the foyer between the double circular staircases. All of the trees were meticulously decorated and beautiful. Finn had never seen anything like it before. When Chadley told him that Christmas was his favorite holiday, Finn never expected there to be five Christmas trees placed throughout the house.
Then there was the exterior. That was a whole other wonder to behold. Every year since he bought his mansion, Chadley hired a professional company to decorate the outside of the house from top to bottom. The first night the lights went on, Finn was floored at how stunning the place looked. Multicolored lights across every gutter, bushes and trees perfectly wrapped, and tasteful, upscale lawn decor peppered around the property. Only Disneyland could rival how amazing the Fortnum Estate looked all lit up for the holiday season.
Each day since all the trees were placed and decorated seemed to bring more and more presents as well. It was all rather overwhelming to Finn. He did make a lot of money during his days as part of the boy band, New Teens on the Street, but he didn’t have nearly as much wealth as his boyfriend. Chadley’s fame was on the rise, while Finn was still working on his music career comeback.
There were plenty of gifts under the various trees for Chadley’s family, but Finn caught sight of lots with his name on them as well. Part of him wanted to let his boyfriend know that he didn’t have to buy so much, but Chadley looked so happy each time he put a new gift under the tree. Finn just couldn’t take that joy away from him. Which was exactly why he had to find the perfect gift. He bought a few practical things he knew Chadley would enjoy, but he had yet to find that one gift with that ‘wow’ factor.
___
The week before Christmas and Finn found himself on Rodeo Drive picking up some last minute gifts. He grabbed several pairs of Chadley’s favorite underwear, as well as some superhero compression shirts the muscled actor enjoyed wearing to the gym. But he still hadn’t found that special gift. Finn lost track of how many stores on Rodeo he stopped into or how many selfies he took with adoring fans, but he was about to call it quits. Nothing spoke to him. Nothing screamed Chadley’s name. He feared that his first Christmas with his amazingly sweet boyfriend would end in disappointment because he could not find the perfect gift.
As he placed his few bags into the trunk of his sports car, Finn noticed a happy couple giddily walk past. The girlfriend’s one arm was wrapped into the crook of her boyfriend’s elbow, while her free hand played with a gold nameplate necklace. The woman seemed overjoyed with the delicate piece of jewelry; a spring in her step as she leaned against her boyfriend’s shoulder. Maybe Chadley would like that? Oh. I could get us a couples one with both our names. Finn closed the trunk of his car and quickly made his way to one of the most prestigious jewelry stores in Beverly Hills.
___
“Wake up Finn.” Chadley vigorously shook his boyfriend’s bare shoulder as he bounced on the mattress beside him. “It’s Christmas Eve!” Chadley rolled out of bed as Finn groggily yawned and stretched. For as long as Chadley could remember, Christmas was always his favorite holiday, and the day before was always full of Fortnum family traditions. This year, he got to share those traditions with his favorite person in the whole world.
“It’s so early,” Finn complained, his voice tired as his body desperately clung to slumber while his brain started sending out signals to the contrary. Realizing it was a battle in which he wouldn’t be victorious, Finn finally made moves to begin his day, rolling onto his back towards Chadley’s half of the bed. “What are you wearing?” he asked his boyfriend the instant his eyes had adjusted to the daylight that flooded the bedroom.
Chadley pulled the stretchy, form fitting green fabric up over his bare bottom and snapped the elastic band against his trim waist. “They’re my Christmas boxers,” he replied with a smile as he turned to face Finn. The waistband was trimmed in metallic red and gold, as were the leg openings. It was the front of Chadley’s holiday themed underwear, however, that brought a smile to Finn’s face and elicited a slight giggle. A simple red bow trimmed in gold, patterned after the design details, was prominently affixed over Chadley’s package. “Do you like them?”
“It’s a present I can’t wait to unwrap.” Finn gestured for Chadley to join him on the bed, which the underwear clad man was happy to oblige. Chadley flung himself onto the mattress with fervor, cuddling beside Finn. The two kissed gently, enjoying each other’s taste for a moment before Chadley rolled back off. “Hey?” Finn cried as his arm tried, and failed, to grasp his boyfriend to pull him back onto the sheets.
“We can open one present on Christmas Eve, but not until tonight. And I get to choose yours for you.” Chadley made his way back towards his dresser. He put on a pair of dark blue jeans and a tight green striped shirt with a flexing Santa Claus that read ‘Jolly Swole Saint Nick’ across the chest. “Go shower and get dressed and meet me downstairs when you’re done. We have a day of adventure ahead of us.” Chadley kissed the tip of Finn’s nose before he skipped out of the room humming his favorite Mariah Carey Christmas tune.
___
A day of adventure was right. It was barely Noon and the two guys had just arrived at their fourth stop on Chadley’s agenda. Or as he liked to call it - The Fortnum Family Fun Tour: Christmas Edition. Chadley eagerly lead Finn by the hand into a quaint single family home on a corner lot in San Pedro.
No sooner had Chadley stepped through the door did a pair of elderly arms belonging to a petite woman wrap themselves around him. “Grammy Fortikins!” Chadley embraced his tiny grandmother in a strong, yet gentle hug.
“How’s my precious baby boy doing?” Grammy Fortnum asked finally stepping back from Chadley’s arms. “And who is this sexy little thing you’ve brought with you? Is he my Christmas present?” Chadley’s grandmother winked and blew a kiss in Finn’s direction.
“Grammy!” Chadley protested as he hooked an arm in with his boyfriend, while Finn chuckled at the elder lady’s flirting. “This is my boyfriend. Finn Wildfire.”
“Looks like you’re stuck with me Eleanor,” an elderly man laughed as he entered the foyer. Eleanor slapped his arm as he walked past her laughing. “Come here and give your old Grandpa Earl a hug, Chadley.” The two embraced affectionately. The hug was loving, but Earl kept it brief. “Come on everyone,” he said as he turned to exit the foyer. “Let’s move this fun into the living room. And stop staring at my ass Eleanor.”
“Oh zip it Earl. I haven’t looked at your ass in thirty years,” Eleanor snapped back. “Finn’s ass, however, now that’s something to stare at.” Grandma Fortnum patted Finn’s behind as she followed Earl into the living room. “Firm too.”
Chadley silently nodded with his grandmother’s assessment as he kissed Finn on the cheek. Finn couldn’t help, but to smile at the humorous nature of Grandma and Grandpa Fortnum.
“So what did you boys get up to this morning?” Earl asked as he took a seat on the worn couch. Eleanor took a seat beside her husband and intertwined her short fingers with his long ones.
Finn smiled at the loving sight. “Well sir, we did some early morning jet skiing, a quick gym session in Venice Beach, and then late breakfast at Pancake Palace before coming here.”
“I like this one Chadley. I haven’t been called sir…”
“Since last night in bed,” Eleanor quipped as she pinched Earl’s thigh. The elderly couple chuckled as they looked into each other’s eyes. Earl gave his wife a tiny kiss on the lips. “Oh my goodness. Where are my manners? Let me fix you boys something to drink. Would you mind giving me a hand Finn?”
“Of course not ma’am. Lead the way.” Finn smiled as he followed Grandma Fortnum into the kitchen.
Chadley’s grandmother pulled a tall glass pitcher of iced tea from the refrigerator and instructed Finn to grab some drink ware from an upper cabinet beside the sink. “I just wanted to get you away from my grandson for a moment to tell you that I’m glad to finally meet you. Chadley has always been a happy boy, but these last few months with you, Finn… well it’s different. He’s been glowing. Anytime he talks with Earl and I, he can’t stop going on and on about how fantastic you are.”
“You’re gonna make me cry Mrs. Fortnum.” Finn pulled a finger across the bottom of his eye as he tried to blink back the tears from forming. His pearly white teeth shone bright after hearing Eleanor’s compliment.
“I mean it sweetie. And please, Eleanor is fine.” Grandma Fortnum poured the drinks into each glass before searching the fridge for some garnish. “For the last couple of years, Chadley’s had to do these traditions on his own. His parents were always off pursuing their dreams, so Earl and I raised him. We started doing these activities so Chadley could feel like he was doing something that connected him with them. We just got too old to be jet skiing or going to Muscle Beach. So knowing he had you with him this year made us very happy.”
Finn smiled as he helped Eleanor slice some lemons for the iced tea. “I’m glad he shared his traditions with me. I had a great time. Chadley had mentioned that his folks were big time athletes and he didn’t get to see them often so he liked to do the sports they enjoyed.”
“My son, Eric, is a professional weight lifter and personal trainer to some high end clientele so he’s always traveling. Chadley’s mom, Misty, is a pro jet skier and her competitive season keeps her away most of the year.” Eleanor finished making the drinks look presentable before letting Finn take the heavy tray out to Chadley and Earl.
Hours of conversations and laughter filled the tiny house. Earl recounted the time a teenage Chadley finally beat him in a bench press contest. Eleanor brought out several albums filled with Chadley’s childhood, from infant to toddler to teenager. Finn noticed a constant in every single picture - Chadley’s smile. There wasn’t anything to evidence him being anything other than happy. The realization made Finn beam with joy. He wrapped an arm around his muscular boyfriend’s waist and pulled him even closer, nuzzling his head against Chadley’s shoulder, as Grandma and Grandpa Fortnum told more fun stories.
___
It wasn’t until sometime in the evening when the young couple returned back to Chadley’s mansion. Eleanor had cooked everyone a lovely dinner, while Earl had fun quizzing Finn about his intentions with his grandson. Being with Chadley’s grandparents was a wonderful change of pace from the frenetic Wildfire Family holiday’s that Finn was accustomed and wanted nothing more than to forget. His family wasn’t terrible, per se; there just wasn’t any real affection like Chadley had with his grandparents.
“Here Finn. Open your present.” Chadley thrust a somewhat large and exquisitely wrapped box into Finn’s arms before taking a seat on the couch; his knees tucked underneath him. “I hope you like it.”
The wrapping paper didn’t stand a chance. Finn tore into it like he was a young child opening a present for the first time. Removing the lid of the unwrapped box revealed an authentic costume from a television show during Finn’s adolescence and early teen years that he had completely forgotten about. “Is this the blue costume from…?”
“Beastly Modifyin’ Muscle Soldiers,” Chadley finished as he pulled a red costume in the exact same style out from behind the couch. “My very first acting job was playing the Red Soldier.”
“Ohmygawd! You played Captain Justin Hotness? Leader of the BMMS Elite Mega Bot Corps! How did I not recognize you? I had the biggest crush on the Red Soldier in high school. When I got discovered singing on VidTube and joined New Teens on the Street, I always wanted to do a Beastly Modifyin’ Muscle Soldiers themed music video so I could meet you.”
“I was a little skinnier back then. And the producers gave my hair frosted tips. But anyway, you like it?”
“I love it Chadley!” Finn jumped up and wrapped his boyfriend in a tight hug. He peppered his lips and cheeks with fiery kisses. “What made you want to give me such a unique gift?”
“That’s the best part Finn,” Chadley bounded back towards the couch. He grabbed his red costume and held it in front of his body. “For the last few years, I’d dress up as Captain Hotness and go visit the Children’s Hospital. I’d bring all of these presents to the kids that are too sick to be at home on Christmas Day with their families. I thought this year you could go with me. I put your name next to mine on all the gifts for the kids.”
So that’s why there are so many presents? Hearing how Chadley spent his Christmas was enough to make Finn begin to cry. Again. So many people come to Hollywood for fame and fortune, becoming jaded in the process. Not Chadley Fortnum. He grew up a stone’s throw away and never lost his humanity. “You are the sweetest damn guy I know and I would love to go with you tomorrow,” Finn said through tears. He kissed Chadley once more before gesturing for him to take a seat after fighting back his crying. “But now it’s time for me to give you my gift.”
Finn fetched a small velour box from beneath the family room Christmas tree as he queued up the music app on his phone. ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ by Mariah Carey began to play throughout the mansion’s surround sound as Finn presented Chadley with his gift. “It’s small, but I hope you like it.”
Chadley opened the gift box to see a stunning necklace with a name plate reading ‘Finley’ emblazoned across it. “Our couples name! Finn it’s beautiful.” As the words left Chadley’s lips, Finn pulled on the necklace he was wearing to reveal a matching name plate. “You have one too?”
“Of course,” Finn nodded. “That way, where ever we may be, we are always close to each other’s hearts. Go ahead. Try it on.”
As Chadley gently tugged on the necklace, it snagged on something on the back of the tiny cardboard insert. His eyes went wide and his mouth fell agape the moment he removed the insert from the box. “Finn?” Chadley said shifting his gaze from the gift to his boyfriend.
Finn was now situated on one knee before the muscular actor seated in front of him. “I know we haven’t been dating for very long, but ever since I met you, I knew that you were the one for me.” Finn’s voice cracked a little as Chadley removed a titanium black polished engagement ring with a walnut wood inlay from the box. “Much like your favorite song playing, all I want for Christmas is you, Chadley. Will you make my life complete and marry me?”
Words couldn’t find Chadley as he was overcome with emotion. His eyes flooded with tears like a dam bursting. After a few moments of shaking and crying, Chadley regained his composure. “Yes Finn. Yes I’ll marry you.” He hugged his boyfriend and began kissing him once again. Chadley wasn’t sure how long their romantic gestures went on, but he was the first of them to finally break the kiss and come up for air. “That was two presents you gave me Finn. I only gave you one gift tonight.”
“I guess you forgot Chadley, but you’re wearing the second gift I plan on unwrapping later.” Finn winked, but he could see a look of confusion on his boyfriend’s face. “You’re underwear buddy. I plan on taking them off your sexy body very soon.”
Laughter filled the air before Finn hit replay on his phone so that the two could sing and dance to Chadley’s favorite holiday song; the song Finn had so interrupted with his marriage proposal. When Mariah concluded playing for the second time tonight, Chadley pulled Finn in close, looping his muscular arms around his boyfriend’s neck. “Best. Christmas. Ever.”

Part Five
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK (GREENWICH VILLAGE)
Bastien Lykel had seen his type before. The overly obnoxious, disrespectful, and cocky type that only viewed sexual partners as conquests. On the outside, he projected confidence; but deep down Bastien knew that TJ was an insecure man - and that insecurity drove his audacious behavior. Well Bastien had witnessed enough and when the young, blue vest wearing guy made a pass at him, much like he had to several others in the bar this evening, the King’s guard took matters into his own hands.
After leading TJ to a quiet section of the establishment, Bastien gave him a death glare as he folded his arms across his chest. “Let me tell you something young man. Your behavior is absolutely deplorable. You have zero respect for anyone other than yourself. You think it’s absolutely okay to say any inappropriate thought that comes to your mind and that people will find you charming?”
“I just…”
“Son, I’m not finished. And for once in your life, listen to someone else. Do you know what’s going to happen if you keep going down this path?” Bastien took a deep breath. He wasn’t used to speaking so much at once and it annoyed him. He continued boring his vision through TJ as the scared young man shook his head side-to-side. “You will end up single and alone without any friends. You need to learn how to properly talk to people, you need to learn how to listen, and for fuck’s sake learn how to dress like something other than a douche bro.”
Nobody had ever spoken to TJ like Bastien had just now. Every ounce of TJ’s being wanted to push back on what the bodyguard was telling him, but quite frankly, the older man frightened him to his core. And when the man got to the part about not having friends, it gave TJ’s mind pause. He really didn’t have anyone that he could call a friend. A slow tear started to roll down TJ’s cheek. “You’re… you’re right. I’m sorry.”
“I know I’m right, but I’m not the one you should be apologizing to TJ.” Bastien stood firm as he watched the gears in TJ’s head turn with thoughts. As the young man began to take steps to return to where the others were, Bastien placed a strong hand on his chest to stop him. “And just so I’m clear, I will periodically check in with the Queen’s sister to see if you really are sorry for your actions and making an effort to change. If I find out you’re not… well let’s just say there is a Duchess in Cordonia that would be all too willing to try out some behavior modification techniques on a guy like you.” Bastien removed his hand and turned on his heel leaving TJ to his own thoughts.
___
After quite some time getting to know each other, all of the new found siblings eventually reconvened with their respective friend groups.
Drake pulled up a seat at the bar between Daniel and Liam; a mile wide smile on his face like never before. “Well I gotta say, Dean and Elsie are pretty awesome,” he said releasing a long sigh. “I had my doubts about meeting them, but I’m glad that Sav and I did.”
“That’s fantastic Drake,” Liam said clapping a hand to his best friend’s back. As he did so, Liam noticed Bastien approaching. Liam cocked an eyebrow at the head of his King’s Guard, as he turned from Drake towards the older gentleman.
“My apologies your Royal Highness,” Bastien began before Liam had the chance to utter a word. “I had to go root out a pest problem.” The moment the words left Bastien’s lips, Liam and Drake noticed a timid and apologetic looking TJ scurry past; hastily arriving at the table where his travel mates were seated.
“What did you say to him Bas?” Liam inquired.
“Just a dire warning about where his life was heading if he kept up his antics.”
“I would’ve threatened him with some time in Olivia’s dungeon,” Drake quipped before knocking back a sip of whiskey. “And not the sex one that Lord Rashad is becoming fond of.”
“I may have alluded to that as well.” Bastien nodded at his King before reassuming his position near the front door.
___
A couple tables away from the bar, Abby was sitting with her boyfriend and finally reconnecting with her college friend, Jordan, and meeting his boyfriend, Flynn. “I can’t believe Katie O’Malley has a baby and settled down,” Abby remarked after Jordan filled her in on the craziness in Birchport last year.
“I know right. I’m just glad that she’s okay, with a successful business, and an amazing girlfriend supporting her. Little Rachael absolutely adores Naomi,” Jordan smiled.
“The downside for me is that I see my boss whether I’m working or not, but I guess it’s only fair since I am dating my sister’s college roommate,” Flynn joked just before TJ arrived and pulled up a seat.
“Do we want to know where you went?” Ben inquired upon the return of his annoying travel companion.
Quippy words and retorts were TJ’s standard fare for so long, that he struggled to genuinely answer Ben’s simple question. “I.. uh…” he stammered before taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly. “I’m sorry.”
“What?” Abby and Ben said in unison at the surprising words TJ uttered. The couple glanced at each other momentarily before returning their shocked gaze back towards TJ.
“I’m sorry. For everything Abby,” TJ began, running a nervous hand through his hair. “I shouldn’t have used your friend Mark going out with my brother as leverage for getting information to meet your sister. I shouldn’t have treated you so poorly when you worked at Click-It. I was rude, inappropriate on many levels, and just generally disgusting. I apologize to you, Abby. And to you, Ben; and all of your friends and everyone else. When we’re back in San Francisco I’ll apologize to them all in person as well. But right now, I’ve gotta go.”
Abby sat dumbfounded as TJ walked away. Ben took her hand and interlaced his fingers with hers. “What just happened?”
“If I had to guess, TJ made a pass at the wrong person and they put the fear of god into him,” Flynn answered. He took a sip of his drink and nodded his head in Bastien’s direction for Abby to see. Abby made eye contact with the King’s Guard and nodded her head, mouthing ‘thank you’ as she did. Bastien nodded in return; a barely noticeable smile formed in the corners of his mouth.
___
“So we finally got a hold of our mom,” Dean said as he and Elsie pulled up seats at the bar near Drake, Savannah, Daniel, and the Royal couple. “She’s gonna try to get some time off from work so we can all visit Cordonia sometime, since she can’t get back to the States before you all leave at the end of the week.”
“I called our mom too and she’s ready to fly out at any time,” Savannah smiled. She was quite surprised at how well her mother took the news of the additional Walker siblings. Time really must heal all wounds.
The four siblings toasted as Daniel piped up from beside Drake. “I have some good news to share as well.”

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA
The Dryve came to a stop in front of Mark’s apartment complex as he reached into his pocket to pull out his vibrating cell phone. He swiped it unlocked to see a text from his best friend.
ABBY: so some interesting developments here. long story short, Carissa and I aren’t twins… We’re triplets! I have another sister named Scarlett!
MARK: WHAT?!?!?
ABBY: i know. Crazy right? But what’s crazier is that TJ just apologized. For everything. And he said he’s sorry he forced a date with his brother on you. So if you haven’t gone yet you can totally back out.
MARK: we actually went to an afternoon baseball game. It was free bobble head day! 😃 I’m actually just getting back to my place now.
ABBY: yay on the bobble head. ugh on the date.
MARK: Brad actually wasn’t so bad. He seemed receptive to some of the advice I was giving him. Honestly, he really needs a friend willing to call him out and teach him how to be a decent human being. He’s got a long way to go cuz he’s been so influenced by TJ for so long.
ABBY: well if there is anyone that can help to redeem him, it’s you!
MARK: thanks Abby! But hey, I g2g. The Dryve guy wants me out of his car lol
ABBY: k! bye Mark. Thanks again!
Mark stepped out from the backseat of the car before peering his head back into the open door. “You wanna come up for a cup of coffee or something?”
“Can’t get enough of the B…” Brad began to say before catching himself. “Sorry. It’s a habit. I would love some coffee.” Brad stepped from the car to follow Mark to his apartment.

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK (GREENWICH VILLAGE)
“I told mom, Dylan, and Wyatt all of the great news.” Scarlett cuddled with her boyfriend in one of the booths, both excited for the day’s success. Nick managed to land a tentative deal for Lord Beaumont’s book, retained Jordan Cargill as a client, and potentially brokered a joint novel between the two authors based on everything that happened today. “Mom cried. Dylan and Wyatt were shocked and excited. I don’t know if this night could get any better,” Scarlett said before gently kissing Nick’s neck.
Nick bit his lower lip at the pleasurable kisses Scarlett was giving him. “I can think of several ways this night could get better.” He turned towards his girlfriend, caressing her chin so her eyes met his. “What do you say we sneak into bathroom for a little fun?”
“Ohmygawd Nick!” Scarlett giggled. “I never thought you’d ask.” She glanced around to see everyone else preoccupied and deep in conversation before grabbing Nick’s hand and stealthily escaping to the restroom for some private time.
___
“You’re moving to Cordonia?” Drake was elated to hear the news Daniel relayed to him and the others. If he wasn’t already overcome with emotions from meeting his new brother and sister, he certainly was now.
“It’s true. As soon as I can find a buyer for the bar, I’ll be on a flight to start my new European life. Which, I hope, includes you.” Daniel’s piercing green eyes longingly looked into the deep chocolate brown eyes of the man he desired.
Drake enveloped his muscular arms around Daniel’s smaller frame at the welcome announcement and held him tight. “Of course it includes me.” Drake pressed a fiery kiss to Daniel’s soft lips; his tongue slipping between to seek out a companion.
“Not to interrupt the happy moment, but when did you buy the bar? And how?” Carissa asked Daniel at the surprise revelation before snaking an arm around Liam’s waist.
Daniel laughed at the inquiry, forgetting that he never did get a chance to update Carissa about all of the developments at the bar since she uprooted her life for Cordonia. “Basically after you left, the manager got even more insufferable. So I bought the bar and fired him. I don’t like to advertise this, but my family is pretty well off. I told my parents that I wanted to be the first Thwaiter in a couple generations to forge his own path. Although I did use my family money to get this place.”
“Hold on,” Carissa began, “you’re telling me your last name is ‘The Waiter?’”
A look of confusion appeared on Daniel’s face once he heard his friend complete her sentence. “Yeah? You didn’t know that? You all call me by my full name all the time. Daniel Thwaiter.”
“How did I not know your last name after all this time?” Carissa mournfully remarked. She felt like a terrible friend in that moment, but Daniel’s laughter at her comment brought her back from her brief guilt trip.
“All kidding aside Daniel, I think Dean may be able to help with your situation and you can keep the bar.” Drake pat his brother on the shoulder as he spoke. “Dean’s been bartending for a long time, plus he and his boyfriend have management and restaurant experience between them.”
The others looked towards Dean, who was at a loss for words. “I mean, yeah that’s true, but I dunno.”
Elsie placed a reassuring hand on Dean’s knee. “The whole walk from the hotel to here earlier today you were saying that you hoped you and Carter could start some place fresh. This is a great opportunity to do just that Dean.”
“I’ll make sure you and Carter have sufficient salaries, I’ll include living accommodations at my current apartment, and we can work out an arrangement that if you both meet certain targets for revenue, then ownership of the bar will transfer to you outright.” Daniel extended a hand towards Dean. “What do you say? Do we have a tentative deal?”
Without missing a beat, Dean shook Daniel’s hand. The friends around him erupted into cheers and applause. “Deal. I can’t wait to share the news with Carter.”

The cool night air elicited a shiver from TJ as he walked back towards his hotel. He realized he was underdressed for this New York weather as he rubbed his hands up and down his arms for some warmth. TJ wasn’t sure how long he had been walking, but he felt like he should’ve been back to the hotel by now.
“You lost stud?” a voice called out from nearby.
TJ turned in the direction of the speaker and saw an attractive man wearing tight jeans and a fur over his bare upper body. He was standing in the doorway of a fairly nondescript building. “Nah. I’m okay,” TJ replied as he desperately fought the urge to respond in his normal manner. He had to try to be better.
The man moved gracefully down the steps, getting much closer to TJ; so close that TJ could feel his breath. “You sure you don’t want to come in and join my friend and I?” The attractive man gestured back towards the open door, where TJ saw a beautiful shirtless man with mocha skin and glasses standing. The man with the fur vest took TJ’s hand and began to lead him up the steps. He was captivated by these two shirtless beings and felt powerless to them. “My name is Sergio. What’s yours?”
TJ answered as Sergio ushered him through the front door, slipping off his fur before pulling TJ out of his blue vest from behind. Sergio’s friend lifted TJ’s white shirt up over his head, exposing his fit body. “I think you’re gonna like it here TJ. We’re gonna have some fun together. And our employer will certainly enjoy you,” Sergio said as he closed the front door to LaCroix Manor.

“I need you now, Nick,” Scarlett begged as she placed her palms flat against the bathroom stall partition and shook her ass in the tight confines.
Nick kissed the nape of his girlfriend’s neck as he unzipped his pants to release his throbbing length. It had been weeks since he and Scarlett had been intimate; their few chances of passion repeatedly interrupted. Nick so desperately wanted this. Needed this. His cock yearned for Scarlett. “As you wish baby,” he whispered lining up his thick head to feel her warm and wet core.
The main door to the bathroom flung open with a thud. “Hey Nick? You in here?” Maxwell shouted. “Some guy Wyatt called the bar looking for you or Scarlett. I guess your phones kept going straight to voicemail. Anyway, we got to talking and he suggested getting a picture of the new sisters so he could show Scarlett’s mom.”
“I’m going to fucking murder Wyatt,” Nick muttered under his breath as Scarlett suppressed the urge to giggle. Nick cleared his throat. “Yes, Lord Beaumont. I’m here. I’ll be out in a moment and I’ll bring Scarlett.”
“Please, call me Maxwell. And I can go get her if you know where she is?”
“I’m in here too Maxwell,” Scarlett laughed hysterically unable to contain it any longer. “We’ll be right out.”
“I am so sorry,” Maxwell apologized. “Take your time. I’ll go take a pic of the Walker’s first.” Maxwell exited the restroom, making sure to pull the door closed tight behind him. “Nick will find Scarlett. She’s definitely not in the bathroom having sex with him,” Maxwell reassured the others unaware that Nick and Scarlett could still hear him.
___
After wrapping up some photos of the four Walker’s, Maxwell directed Carissa, Scarlett, and Abby to positions along the bar. The three sisters embraced each other for the first time, striking a fun pose for the picture, and immediately felt something surge between them. The feeling was unusual; something the three had never felt before. It was as if their touch of one another completed an element that had been missing; making each fully whole for the first time in their lives.
“Did you feel that?” Carissa asked as her body tingled with warmth.
“Triplet bond?” Abby questioned arching an eyebrow.
“Maybe,” Scarlett added before all three laughed and turned to face Maxwell with a smile.

WESTCHESTER, OREGON
Ava Cunningham bolted upright from a deep sleep, a rush of energy coursing through her body. Her sudden movement shook the bed, jarring her girlfriend, Stacy Green, awake. “It’s the sisters,” Ava said expressionless. “They’re together again.” She stared off, looking beyond her girlfriend. Stacy placed her arms around Ava, pulling her into a tight embrace. Ava didn’t move, however. She just kept her gaze across the room at the ghostly, translucent male figure with stars and a soft green light emanating from his body standing in the corner; occasionally flickering into a tall, dark haired man that Ava remembered communicating with in her dreams. “We have to go to them. The sisters are the only ones that can help him get back to Jake.”
“Help who? Ava, who needs help? And who is Jake?” Stacy asked completely unaware of the figure behind her. Stacy noticed the sheer panic on Ava’s face. The last time Stacy saw that look, the two were trapped in the basement of an abandoned house deep in the woods.
“Taylor. The sisters are the only ones that can help Taylor get back to his love, Jake.”

(The End)
End Note: Ok, so where to begin… First, thank you all so much for taking the time to read and going along with my crazy mindset. I’ve had this idea in my brain for a long while now and I’m glad that I finally was able to write it. But before anyone worries, this bombshell ending was always meant to set up a companion series for the new sisters. In my mind, this series was always about establishing all of the siblings and the upcoming companion series has those sisters play an integral role in another idea I’ve wanted for my AU for a long time. Oh, and I wanted an epic crossover. All told, this story featured or referenced characters from twelve Choices books (if I counted correctly) Lastly, the name of my MC from Endless Summer is Taylor Reed.

Part Four
REPUBLIC OF CORDONIA - A FEW DAYS AGO
“What are you saying?” Carissa paced around Liam’s office; her face flush with shock. She had heard the words from Leo and Maxwell, but as simple of a concept that it was, her mind was still awash in confusion. She looked over at Drake, who had just received similar news, yet he was as calm as ever. “And you Drake…doesn’t this freak you out? That you and Savannah might have family you never knew about?”
Truth be told, Drake was freaking out. On the inside. How could he and Savannah potentially have two siblings? How could his father do something like this? Was his mother aware of her husband’s infidelity? No, Drake was far from calm. He just refused to show his complicated emotions until he understood all that was happening. “I need to talk to Savannah. And I need another drink.”
“You and me both,” Olivia piped up from the back of the office, raising her empty rocks glass. “One Drake Walker is more than enough, but two? Well that makes it official - the world is punishing me.”
“Livvy!” Liam chided as he followed his best friend out of the office. Olivia simply shrugged, pouring herself another stiff drink.
The others all turned back towards Carissa, hoping that Drake’s departure didn’t affect her feelings. Both Hana and Maxwell wrapped their arms around the queen, letting her know that this new familial development was going to be okay.
“Leo and I didn’t mean to cause any problems,” Maxwell finally stated after releasing Carissa from his tight hug. “When Dean called Leo out of the blue, and I got a text from Daniel about his own phone call; well we just thought it was important that everyone knew immediately.” Leo wrapped his arms around his fiancé’s waist from behind, pulling him in close and placing a gentle kiss to his neck in an effort to relieve his worry.
“You did the right thing Maxwell,” Carissa replied. “You both did. It’s definitely a lot to take in, but Drake and I both needed to know. And don’t worry about Drake. He’ll come around.”
“What about you though?” Hana asked. “You mentioned before that you were a bit freaked out.”
Carissa took a deep breath. She certainly was shocked to learn that she may have a sister. All her life she had wanted a family, a real family. Carissa had spent much of her childhood in a few orphanages before shuffling between several different foster homes. She ended up with the Baxter’s when she was fifteen and they adopted her, but she never truly felt like part of that family despite them giving her their name. So when she was eighteen, Carissa set off on her own to find her way in the big city across the river: New York. She legally changed her surname back to what it had been for most of her life - Monroe. Named for the town hospital in which she had been abandoned. “I’m excited to meet her. Yes, I’m nervous because for so long I didn’t have a true family. Then I met Daniel and you all and my world finally made sense. Now finding out I might have a sister…well that’s icing on the cake and a dream come true.”
___
“This is a nightmare Liam,” Drake growled out in the hallway a few paces down from the king’s office. “All my life, I idolized my father. He was my hero. And now to learn that he had a secret family?”
“Drake, you don’t know that for sure.” Liam placed a hand to his best friend’s shoulder. “Leo said their last name is Walker too and that Dean looks very much like you, but they could be your cousins? I’ve already got Bastien looking into personnel files to see if your father had a brother identified on any of his records. And of course we will do all the proper testing in New York to verify these claims, for you, Savannah, and Carissa.”
Drake pulled his best friend into a tight hug, his anger and fear washing away in an instant. Liam always had that effect on him. He always knew the right words to say. “Thank you my friend.”
___
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK (GREENWICH VILLAGE)
Bastien pulled the black SUV with diplomatic license plates and tiny Cordonian flags affixed to the front fenders to a stop outside the bar where Carissa was once employed. As each occupant exited the vehicle, they all took notice of Dean and Elsie. The two siblings had been approaching the bar when the SUV arrived. Leo quickly jogged towards Dean, shaking his hand and Elsie’s before escorting them both over to meet the others.
“Dean and Elsie, meet Drake and Savannah,” Leo said after he had introduced everyone else that had stepped from the SUV. He quickly took a step back so the four could get acquainted.
The appearance was uncanny. Drake couldn’t get over just how much Dean looked like him, albeit with shaggier hair. His eyes, his nose, his mouth - it was like looking into a mirror. Drake extended his hand towards Dean, but the other Walker quickly pulled him into a hug. Elsie did the same with Savannah and whatever tension or insecurities each were feeling seemed to quickly dissipate.
From inside the bar, Daniel happened to notice the gathering outside. He shimmied free from TJ’s embrace and excused himself from the chaotic development inside.
“Carissa,” Daniel said as he approached the group. “You’re going to want to get inside and see this for yourself.” Daniel gestured for everyone to join him before doing a double take of the two Drake’s.
“Yes, let’s head inside,” Liam said as he turned to face Dean and Elsie. “When we all learned of you two, we also discovered that my wife may have a sister she never knew existed.” Liam placed a hand to the small of Carissa’s back and proceeded into the bar with her.
“She may have two sister’s she didn’t know about,” Daniel mumbled to himself as he let the others make their way inside while he held back waiting for Drake, the real Drake. “I didn’t think I’d see you again so soon, let alone two of you,” Daniel whispered in Drake’s ear as he took one of Drake’s hands and squeezed.
“So you’re saying you missed me? It’s only been a week,” Drake replied with a mischievous smirk. He wrapped an arm around Daniel’s waist and pulled him into a quick kiss. “I’ve missed you too. Oh and I apparently have a brother and sister I never knew about.” The two smiled at each other over the interesting situation before quickly separating and rejoining the others inside. Immediately upon entering the bar, Drake’s jaw went slack at the sight before him, much like everyone else’s.
Daniel noticed his bewilderment. “Yup,” he said before clearing his throat as he stepped before the bar’s latest inhabitants. “Carissa, meet Abby Bennett and Scarlett Joy.”
___
“What do you think they’re talking about?” TJ asked Ben as the two sat sharing a table with Flynn.
“Well TJ, perhaps the fact that all three of them grew up not knowing the others existed, I’d say they’re talking about their lives.” Ben couldn’t help his frustration when it came to TJ. The man just bothered him. “Shouldn’t you be flirting with someone?”
“I wish. Turns out that Daniel is kinda with that Drake guy. Man that dude is hot.” TJ pulled on his shirt a couple times; the thought of Daniel and Drake making him hot and bothered. “I tried to call that flight attendant from the airport, but she must have messed up her number. All I get is a incomplete call message. The only other single person here is that bodyguard. He’s actually pretty good looking, for an older guy.” TJ looked Bastien up and down before excusing himself from the table to make a pass at the king’s guard.
“He’s a jackass,” Flynn quipped once TJ was out of earshot. Ben chuckled at the comment and the two men clinked drinks with a smile.
At a nearby table, Maxwell and Leo sat beside Nick and Jordan discussing the business of publishing their respective books. Maxwell liked what Piquant Press had to offer him, plus it didn’t hurt seeing the success that Jordan’s book had with the company to make Maxwell feel at ease. Leo, of course, reaffirmed that both parties would have their respective lawyers review the terms of their agreement, but there was a handshake agreement between Nick and Maxwell for the North American publishing rights to The Royal Romance.
“That’s so awesome that Veil of Secrets is becoming a movie.” Maxwell’s eyes shined with excitement towards Jordan. “Have they cast the actor that will portray you yet?”
“They’re still searching, but thankfully I negotiated final approval,” Jordan replied.
“I could reach out to Chris Winters if you want?” Maxwell offered. “I know he’s in demand after The Last Duchess, but we’re long time friends.”
“Wow… um… yeah, that would be amazing,” Jordan stammered.
Meanwhile, Liam and Daniel sat at the bar with their eyes locked onto the two tables towards the back of the restaurant; one with the Walker siblings and one with the new found sisters.
“This is nerve wracking,” Daniel said. “I can’t imagine the emotions they must all be feeling.”
“Agreed. To go from no family, in Carissa’s case, to having two identical sisters…well that’s just a lot to process. And then Drake and Savannah trying to deal with something their father kept hidden from them? He’s going to need you there for him Daniel.” Liam sipped his drink before turning towards the waiter. “He needs some stability and normalcy in his life. Plus I saw how Drake looks at you and how he gets when he hears your name. He needs you Daniel.”
“You don’t think that would be a bit rushed?” Daniel questioned. “We only just met a few weeks ago and I wouldn’t want to make him feel weird, what with dealing with his new family and all.”
Liam smiled, fully understanding Daniel’s uncertainty. “Carissa followed me halfway around the world after one night and look how that turned out. I never did thank you for giving up your table that evening and having her serve us. So let me repay that debt by offering you a job at the Royal Palace as our Food and Beverage Manager. You’d oversee the daily duties of all the palace chefs and servers, and be responsible for maintaining department inventory. The job comes with your own living quarters within the palace. And of course, you’d be closer to Drake.” Liam winked.
“You’d do all of that for me?” Daniel blushed as he looked between Liam and Drake off in the distance.
“Absolutely my friend.” Liam clapped a hand over Daniel’s. “Just say the word and Bastien will make arrangements for someone to help pack up your things. Right Bas?” Liam turned towards his bodyguard, but he wasn’t anywhere in sight. “Bastien? Where’d you go?”
___
Drake sat in awe of the fun life that Dean and Elsie had lived so far. Both explored so much of the world as part of the military, before Dean settled down as a bartender aboard the Ember of the Seas, while Elsie began an adventure travel company based out of Texas. It was also quite clear to Drake how extremely close the two were to one another; something that he and Savannah were finally getting back to doing. Dean’s stories from his time on the cruise ship were quite entertaining. “Hold on. You and Leo hooked up?” Drake’s face was aghast in shock at the revelation.
“Oh, he hasn’t even told me this story,” Elsie said playfully smacking Dean’s leg.
A chuckle left Dean’s throat as he began to tell the story of his one night stand with Prince Leo. “Aria had just went off with her other suitor, William Sloane, and Leo and I took comfort in a lot of alcohol and each other that night.”
“Interesting,” Drake said coyly.
“Drake won’t admit this, but he’s had the hots for Leo since we were teenagers,” Savannah chimed in, causing Drake’s face to blush red. “You talk in your sleep Drake. Don’t think I haven’t heard you calling out Leo and Liam’s names in your dreams.”
The trio of Walker’s burst out in laughter as Drake slightly sulked after being called out by Savannah. She wasn’t lying, he did have a crush on Leo when he was younger, but that crush faded long ago when he and Liam were briefly romancing each other.
“What was it like growing up in a palace?” Elsie finally inquired. She was never one for wanting to be a princess growing up, but ever since she learned of her new siblings, the thought of a royal upbringing intrigued her. Elsie listened intently, with baited breath, as Savannah began talking about being raised in Cordonia amongst royalty. Savannah told the two about courtly life, which caused Drake to roll his eyes, but she didn’t care. Elsie seemed to marvel at the thought of all of the glamorous balls the royals would have regularly. Savannah then discussed how she and Bertrand came to be; their ups and downs, before showing Elsie pictures of baby Bartie, which Elsie completely fawned over.
“He’s so precious,” Elsie remarked.
“Thank you. So what about you? Anyone special in your life?” Savannah inquired.
“I am currently single.” Elsie looked around the room for a particular person, but was unable to locate him. That didn’t stop her from continuing to whisper. “But if you see that TJ guy, I told him that I’m dating Han, the hot baseball player from the most recent season of America’s Most Eligible. I just didn’t want that guy trying to flirt with me.”
The two ladies laughed before returning to look at more pictures of Savannah’s baby. While the Walker sisters cooed over all things Bartie, Dean seemed more intrigued with Drake’s discussions about the Royal Guard and the stories he told about their father. “There was one time, father was supposed to go on a business trip with King Constantine, but it was the same weekend that he promised to take me fishing,” Drake remembered. “He knew how much I had been looking forward to going, so he managed to convince the King to delay his business trip in order to take me fishing.”
Dean grinned broadly as he watched Drake’s eyes fill with pride at telling his story. He had a similar fishing tale with their father, but he kept it to himself, not wanting to take the moment away from his new brother. “That’s awesome Drake.”
“So Jackson Walker was indeed your father?” Drake finally asked of the others, his voice nervous as he shifted from being proud of his father to uncertainty to the man he knew.
“He was,” Dean nodded as he took Elsie’s hand. Dean noticed Drake swallow hard at the confirmation and worried that information would set back the good times that all four were just having a moment ago. “Look, Drake, I know this is tough on you and Savannah. It’s tough for me and Elsie as well. I’m not going to pretend to try and understand why our dad did what he did and it’s not going to change how I feel about the man. When the results come back for all of us and it shows that we are siblings, I’m going to be thankful that we all have finally found each other. I won’t excuse his behavior, but I will make every effort to get to know you and Savannah. Plus, as awesome as Elsie is, I’ve always wanted a baby brother.”
Drake finally cracked a smile at Dean’s joke. It was that moment he realized that the four of them were definitely related. He didn’t need a test to confirm what he could already feel within his heart and see with his own two eyes. That humor was exactly something Drake would say. “Wait how do you know you’re older?” Drake asked with a laugh.
“Oh I was just making a joke so you’d stop brooding,” Dean replied. “I could totally sense it on you. But I am 27. Elsie is 23.”
Drake’s face contorted slightly. Damn! Dean was older. “Fuck,” Drake jokingly replied. “I’m 25. Savannah is a year younger.”
“Well I’ll drink to being the baby of the family,” Elsie quipped.
___
A few tables over from the Walker siblings, laughter and tears happened as Carissa told her new sister’s all about her life as an orphan and how much she moved around before eventually finding her way to New York. Her sisters knew of her story of meeting Liam, but she filled them in on just how the first night meeting the future king went and why she chose to follow him to a country she had never heard of before. “If Daniel had never given up that table, I never would have met Liam,” Carissa smiled.
Abby felt heartbreak that Carissa didn’t have a good adoptive family like she and Scarlett both had, but was happy that things obviously worked out for her new sister. “He is quite attractive,” Abby said to Carissa with a smile. Soon, she was recounting her days growing up in Pennsylvania, her time attending Hartfeld University, before her professional pursuits in New York failed, ultimately leading her to find love and career success in San Francisco. “Moving to California was the greatest decision I ever made. I got to reconnect with a great friend; met a fantastic, like-minded woman who is the best business partner a person could want; and met the love of my life, Ben.” Abby beamed as she pointed out her boyfriend to Scarlett and Carissa. “He is a comics illustrator.”
“You know, I never imagined that a comic book guy could be so hot, but Ben is a total stud,” Scarlett said to Abby. “Nick would kill me if he knew I told you, but he collects comics and he’s a huge fan of Ben’s work.”
“I’ll make sure to get him to sign something and take a picture with Nick,” Abby bantered.
Scarlett marveled at the two different upbringings her sisters had compared to her time in Winter Haven. Three different scenarios, yet all three women ended up being strong and successful in their young lives. Scarlett told the others about her adoptive mother, brother, and how a break-up with her high school boyfriend brought her to living her dream in the big city. She told Abby and Carissa how she and Nick fell in love over one holiday when he got stranded in her home town. “What I love about him, is that he’s such a sweetheart underneath all of his snark. And he’s fantastic in bed,” Scarlett giggled.
“I’ll drink to that,” Carissa concurred as she and her two sister’s laughed and toasted their drink glasses. “You know what is totally crazy,” Carissa said in a sudden realization. “At some point all three of us lived and worked in New York a mere blocks from each other, but never once met.”
“Well it is a city of millions of people,” Scarlett replied with a smile.
“True, but look at the unusual way we did end up meeting,” Abby countered. “A former co-worker of mine, who I’m not a fan of, happens to have hooked up with Carissa’s best friend and still has his number. Meanwhile Scarlett, your boyfriend just happens to land a meeting with Carissa’s other friend and, oh by the way, is the publisher to someone else that I just so happened to have went to college with. That seems like a much more unlikely scenario than the three of us bumping into each other when we all had lived so close by at one point.”
“So are you saying that you think something bigger is at play here?” Carissa asked. Abby’s comment really piqued her curiosity. “Do you think it’s like a triplet bond or something? Like the world was trying to find a way to bring us together?
“Maybe, but whatever it is, I’m glad we found each other,” Abby replied.

Across the street from the bar, a translucent male figure with stars and a soft green light emanating from his body stood watch; periodically flickering into the appearance of a tall, dark-haired man.

Part Two
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA
Good times were always had at The Double Tap. Wild conversations and crazy ideas were also pretty regular occurrences for Abby and her friends. Tonight was bound to be more of the same. It had been roughly a week since Abby saw her spitting image marry into royalty in Cordonia and since that time, she and her friends had been trying to figure out a way for Abby to meet Queen Carissa. Abby had known since she was a teenager that she was adopted, but her parents never mentioned that she had a twin sister.
“I can’t believe Cole doesn’t have any business connections in Cordonia,” Ben remarked taking Abby’s hand into his own. He gently massaged her knuckles with his thumb before bringing her hand to his lips, placing a tender kiss to it with his soft lips.
“He’s seeing if maybe Amir knows someone that does business there, but he isn’t so sure.” Abby sighed before taking a long sip of Horatio’s latest drink special. Strong aromas of ginger, cinnamon, and vanilla wafted from the beverage. The sweet smells helped mitigate the stress Abby felt about potentially having a long lost sibling. Something in her mind went to a place of calm when breathing in the aromatic notes.
“I’ll keep my fingers crossed.”
“Thanks Ben.” Abby gently pecked her boyfriend’s cheek.
Mark waved to Abby and Ben after he entered their regular hangout spot before greeting Horatio at the bar and ordering a beer.
“Just a beer?” Horatio questioned, a hint of disappointment in his voice. “I’ve got this great new drink that you might like.”
“I’ll just stick with the beer for now, but maybe later in the evening I’ll give it a try.” Mark grabbed the beer that Horatio slid to him and was about to meet up with his other two friends, when a young blond man wearing glasses stepped into his path.
“I couldn’t help overhearing you talking with the bartender just now. I’ve got a much better recommendation for something to try tonight,” the stranger said; his face mildly attractive in an adorkable way.
“And what’s that?” Mark inquired slightly curious.
“The B-Rad,” the man answered super confidently while making finger guns as he pointed towards himself. Mark was not impressed. “In case you didn’t pick up on what I’m putting down, I’m the ‘B-Rad.’ For Brad. But you can call me your next boyfriend.”
“Does that ever work, Brad?”
“Let’s find out. How about you meet me in the …”
“No sex in the bathroom, Brad. I’ve told you this,” Horatio shouted as he tended to other customers nearby. Mark stifled a chuckle as Brad flushed slightly red.
“Or we could go back to my place?” Brad continued, quickly regaining his composure.
“Goodbye Brad.” Mark quickly turned on his heel to head towards his friends before the young man had a chance to respond.
Ben and Abby were deep in conversation as Mark set his beer down on the table and took a seat. “Hey guys. Any new leads or ideas for… for… our mission?”
“You can say it Mark,” Cole said materializing out of nowhere as he put a hand to Mark’s shoulder. “Operation: YASSS QUEEN!” Cole pulled up a seat beside Mark as Horatio dropped off a drink for him. “But to answer your question - no. Both Amir and I haven’t been able to make any contacts in Cordonia. I don’t know what we do next.”

WINTER HAVEN, MAINE
Nick laid in the bed of his girlfriend’s childhood room in her mother’s home. After what they both saw on television, the couple took Nick’s private helicopter to her hometown to get some answers and to console Scarlett’s mom. That was a week ago. A week in Winter Haven with barely any alone time. Until now.
“Damn Scarlett. You’re incredible,” Nick moaned. His hands gripped her slim bare hips as she rode his throbbing length hard and fast. Her fast pace caused the tiny bed to squeak with fervor; the sounds echoing loudly off the walls. If anyone were home, there would be no doubt as to what the two were doing.
“Oh Nick! Fuck me! Fuck me!” Scarlett screamed as she bucked her hips with unbridled passion on her boyfriend’s endowed member. “Soon. I’m almost…”
The doorbell rang, quickly followed by a friendly knock on the front door.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” Nick’s voice dripped with annoyance, but his hands held firm to Scarlett’s hips. “Don’t stop. Maybe they’ll go away.”
Scarlett continued riding her boyfriend, albeit much quieter than before. Much to her dismay, there was a second knock at the door before Scarlett heard the rustling of keys. “Damn it,” she said as she rolled off Nick’s lap, bolting to peer out her front window.
All of the excitement left Nick in an instant, causing his dick to soften. “Who is it?” Nick asked, angrily rolling over so his feet fell to the side of the bed allowing him to sit up. His hand briefly played with his deflated member; upset that once again his romance with Scarlett had been interrupted.
Scarlett turned back from the window and grabbed her discarded clothes from the floor. She slipped on her black lace panties before tossing Nick his boxer briefs. Annoyance appeared on her face as she answered Nick. “It’s Wyatt.”
“That guy is the ultimate cock block.” Nick rolled his eyes as he got up from the bed and put on his underwear.

AUSTIN, TEXAS
Carter drove all night to meet up with Dean after his friend had called him with the news that it appeared he and Elsie had a long lost brother and sister in Cordonia. That was last week and ever since he arrived at Dean and Elsie’s apartment, Carter had felt happiness once again. He knew what he was doing with Dean was wrong, but Carter couldn’t help his feelings. Breaking the news to Ashley would be difficult, but Carter was ready to take that step. He just needed to know if Dean felt the same way.
Dean flopped onto the couch beside Carter, laying his head into his best friend’s lap. “Still no word from Leo. I was hoping he would’ve called me back by now,” Dean said as Carter raked his fingers through Dean’s shaggy brown hair. He always loved the feel of Carter’s touch. “I reached out to Aria as well, in case she’s kept in touch with him, but she hasn’t heard back either.”
“I’m sure he’ll call soon. Things are probably still hectic for them. I can’t imagine the complexities of orchestrating a royal wedding.” Carter tilted Dean’s face up by the chin so he could look into his soft grey eyes. The two best friend’s leaned into each other, meeting halfway. Their lips connected for the millionth time this past week, each time as electric as the one before.
Their kiss was brief as the sound of Dean’s phone ringing in the bedroom interrupted them. The dark haired bartender jumped from the couch hoping the call was from the Prince of Cordonia. Dean ran down the hall in a blur just as Elsie entered the apartment, nearly getting bowled over by her brother.
Elsie shook her head with a laugh before making her way into the living room. She took a seat across from the house guest, surprised he was still in town. She had played nice all week for Dean’s sake, but she couldn’t hold back any longer. “So Carter, what are your intentions with my brother?”
“I… uhhhh…” Carter was caught off guard. His face blushed red as he stammered at Elsie’s question. Thankfully, he didn’t have to answer; rescued by Dean’s return to the living room.
“That was Leo,” an excited Dean proclaimed. He sat beside his sister, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. “The King and Queen, as well as several members of the royal court will be in the US in a couple of days and Leo is going to arrange for a meeting.”
“Dean that’s great,” Carter replied, glad that the topic had been changed. He could still sense Elsie’s eyes boring a hole into his skull even though she nodded in agreement at his words.
“We’ve gotta pack and get ready,” Dean followed-up, standing from the couch.
“Where are we going?” Elsie asked her brother.
Happiness spread across Dean’s face. He was unable to contain his smile, glad to have finally made some progress for he and Elsie’s quest to meet the other Walker’s. “We’re going to New York.”
___
WINTER HAVEN, MAINE
“Mom, you should have told me that you gave Wyatt a key to the house,” Scarlett said leaning against the kitchen counter with her arms folded across her chest. “He scared the hell out of me when I came downstairs.”
Linda slid a mug of coffee across the table to where Wyatt was seated. She grabbed two more from the counter for herself and Charles. “I’m sorry honey,” Linda replied motioning for her daughter to join her and the others at the table. “Wyatt was going to take a look at the garbage disposal for me. He helps so much around the house that it was easier to give him a key.” Linda took a sip of her coffee before turning towards Charles. “It’s so great having you back in town. I’ve quite missed you,” Linda winked.
“And again, I’m sorry Scar,” Wyatt professed. “I rang the bell and knocked before I came in. When there was no answer I just assumed you were out with your mom.”
“I’m sorry to interrupt,” Nick said as he placed two suitcases down on the hardwood floors. He had been in such a hurry to get downstairs that his dress shirt was still unbuttoned. “Scarlett and I must return to New York at once. Charles go get the chopper ready.”
“Nick, what’s going on?” Scarlett inquired bringing a hand to his back as he buttoned his shirt.
“I just got a call from the office that a member of the Cordonian Royal Court, Lord Maxwell Beaumont, has written a book and is looking for a publishing firm for the North American market.” Excitement flowed from Nick’s voice like none of the others had ever heard before, including Scarlett. “Our firm is in the running and has arranged a meeting. This will be our chance to find out if you and the queen are indeed sisters.”
___
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA
“Maybe we can use Brooke’s ‘Sphere of Prettiness’ to lure in the Cordonian Royals?” Sereena suggested after finishing the last of her drink. She and the remaining members of their friend group had arrived a while ago. All night, they had been trying to think of a way, any way, to get Abby to meet Queen Carissa.
“That would work, but only if we can get close enough to the royals,” Cole chuckled. “And to do that, we need to know where they’ll be.”
The friends enthusiasm deflated at yet another failed idea. Horatio brought another round of drinks to the table, but it still wasn’t enough to lift their spirits.
“Why so glum?” A familiar voice asked. Abby turned to see the last person she ever expected to set foot in The Double Tap saunter up to the table. The man took a seat between her and Mark.
“What do you want TJ?” Abby snarled at her former Click-It co-worker.
“Now is that any way to greet an old friend?” TJ took a sip of his beer through his devious smile. “I couldn’t help overhearing that you need a way to meet the Cordonian royals. What if I told you that I can help?”
“You know a member of the Cordonian Royal family?” Mark questioned.
TJ laughed. “Not exactly.”
Abby couldn’t help her annoyed look. She had never liked TJ. Not one iota. Yet as frustrated as she was with his very presence, if he had a way for her to possibly meet her potential sister, she was willing to listen. “Then how TJ?”
“Everything has a price Abby,” TJ smirked as he snapped his finger for a familiar blond man with glasses to come over. Mark recognized him immediately from earlier in the night. “I’ll give you the name and number of my contact who can get you in touch with a member of the royal court, but only if your friend Mark goes on a date with my little brother, Brad.”
“You can’t be serious,” Abby scoffed. Only TJ would use someone’s time of need to secure a date, although she was shocked he hadn’t tried to use it for himself. “I should have known this guy was related to you TJ. He’s got the same perverted and narcissistic personality as you, but with glasses.”
“Thank you baby,” Brad said with a smile.
“Call my friend ‘baby’ again and all of your future meals will be fed to you through a tube,” Sereena threatened.
“Yeah, what she said,” Ben concurred clinking his glass with Sereena’s.
“Just think about it,” TJ interrupted before Brad could make another comment.
As he was about to leave, Mark placed a hand on his shoulder to stop him. “I’ll do it,” he said. “I’ll go on a date with your brother.”
“WHAT?” The others all said simultaneously.
Mark guzzled the last of his beer. “We don’t have any other plan. If TJ has a connection, then I need to do this for Abby. Besides, it’s just one date.”
“Excellent,” TJ replied as he patted Mark’s back before scrolling through his phone searching for the number. “His name is Daniel. He used to work with the Queen at a bar in New York. I spotted him at the wedding on television after I saw that the Queen looked just like you. Anyway, Daniel and I had a fling one time when I was on a business trip in New York a couple years ago.”
“You remember a guy you hooked up with once years ago and still have his number?” Abby said puzzled.
“Uh yeah. Daniel is definitely very memorable.” TJ winked as he shoved his cell phone towards Abby.
“Really?” Abby cringed upon seeing the entry in TJ’s contact list. “Big Dick Daniel? You saved his information as Big Dick Daniel?”
“I’m telling you Abby, his cock is gigantic,” TJ laughed. “Like seriously fucking huge.”
Abby shook her head, not surprised at TJ’s crassness, as she punched the number from his phone into her own. She stepped away from the group as the others looked on, catching a glimpse of Brad attempting to put his arm around Mark’s shoulder. The phone rang a few times before a voice greeted her on the other end. “Hi. Can I speak with Daniel?”
***
End Note: In my very first story, After Hours [NSFW], Daniel mentions that he once got with a “co-founder of Click-It.” Well now we know that was TJ. Also, if you are curious who Brad is in this story, well it’s none other than Intern Brad from Perfect Match, Book 2, Chapter 8. This story takes place before Brad becomes an Intern at Eros, but the moment he appeared in that story, he reminded me of TJ from #LoveHacks. Considering the two stories take place in San Francisco, I figured I would make them brothers. It definitely would explain why Brad is a douchebag. lol.

I need to do this, too. Sounds hella fun.
Choices MC Game
Show your favorite MC’s and write their love interests below. Then tag some friends to keep the fun going.
I was tagged by @ladynonsense and I also need to say thank you as well for not only tagging me, but providing me the transparents for my MC’s! After seeing your MC post, I was inspired to do something a little more creative than just a screen cap and I couldn’t have done it without you. 😊
1. VEIL OF SECRETS
Tumblr media
Jordan Cargill is by far the sexiest male MC I’ve got, but more than that, he’s badass. I love how confident and bold he is in the face of danger. He started off romancing Flynn O’Malley and Grant Emerson, but he quickly fell for Flynn’s cinnamon roll personality and big dick energy! lol
2. PERFECT MATCH
Tumblr media
Kyle Park is an adorkable flirt when he’s with his two loves and a force to be reckoned with when he’s battling Eros. Even after discovering Hayden Young to be a robot, Kyle still has feelings for him. He also fell hard for Damien Nazario because have you seen Damien chopping wood shirtless? My goodness! hehe
3. THE ROYAL ROMANCE
Tumblr media
Carissa Monroe started as a waitress and fought off assassin’s to become Queen! She doesn’t take shit from anyone and I live for it. She is fierce and a dork! Carissa is also a little thotty because while she came to Cordonia for Liam Rys, she’s also hooked up with his two best friends, Drake Walker and Maxwell Beaumont. While she ultimately married Liam, she will always have a place in her heart for Drake and Maxwell.
4. AMERICA’S MOST ELIGIBLE
Tumblr media
Austin Montgomery is the over-the-top flirty MC that I wanted him to be ever since AME was announced. While he has gotten to kiss most of the male contestants this season (only missed out on Ryder), it is Hunter Adams* that he’s connected with most. He’s been intimate with Derek and still wants to bang Han, but Hunter is end game for him.
*Note: In my game, Adam is named Hunter so I just took the default name and adjusted it slightly to be his surname.
5. BIG SKY COUNTRY
Tumblr media
Sure I don’t have much to go on here, but Levi Jensen is the red haired MC I’ve always wanted. Well, as close as I could get anyway. I wish he was a more natural red head than his obvious dye job, but whatever. For a city boy, Levi got that barn cleaned up in no time and he’s totally eager to power bottom the hell out of his sexy cowboy, Sawyer Oakley! lol
Tagging: @cinnamonroll-duffy @brightpinkpeppercorn @katurrade @luxurylives @debramcg1106 @darley1101
I’m not sure if you have been tagged yet, but figured in case you weren’t and wanted to have some fun. 😊

Part Seven Summary:
An unexpected arrival at the docks surprises Chief Walsh.
***
Chief Walsh leaned against the side of his SUV, his arms folded across his chest. A slight smirk spread across his face when he noticed two figures approaching in the distant shadows.
“It’s about time you showed up with my files Detective,” Walsh bemused. “Maybe next time you’ll learn that there is a reason why I’m a Chief and you’re still a Detective.”
“Detective huh?” A familiar voice responded, his face still masked by the darkness. “I’m afraid it’s not who you think it is Chief Walsh.”
As the figure began to emerge from the shadows and the light cascaded across his face, highlighting his blond hair, Chief Walsh’s jaw dropped. “Tanner? What are you doing here?”
“I’m returning your files,” Tanner answered as he reached Chief Walsh; Tony Rez stopping right beside him. “Well, some of your files. I’ll be keeping the ones you had on me and Tony.”
“But…how…you? You took the files?” Chief Walsh stammered.
“Imagine my surprise when Cassandra Leigh called me up out of the blue and told me about you blackmailing her for the last few months with a red light photo of her in a car with me and Tony - a photo that would implicate me as the driver of an accident that you pinned on Tony here,” Tanner said gesturing to the man beside him. “For years I felt bad about how that went down, and when Tony got out of jail, I had him work for me for a bit and promised him I’d make it up to him whenever he needed a favor. Of all of your lackeys to call to help you find Detective Reyes; the man I sent to follow you and swipe your keys, you call Tony Rez. Worked out perfectly for me.”
“So you… you did all this?” Walsh asked surprised.
“It’s not that hard to follow Walsh,” Tanner said condescendingly. “I will admit, you arresting Detective Reyes for nothing threw me for a loop, but thankfully Deputy Duffy was on duty that night. It was pretty easy to trick him and strip him naked in a jail cell.”
“Fucking Duffy! I’ll fire that moron.”
“You will do no such thing,” Tanner snapped back. “You’re lucky it’s me you’re dealing with and not my father. If he knew you had evidence that could implicate me, he would destroy you. He pays you good money and you do something stupid like blackmailing a celebrity on the side?”
“Tanner, please. Don’t tell Pierce,” Chief Walsh begged.
“I won’t, but you’re gonna do a few things for me.”
“Anything,” the Chief responded almost sobbing.
“First, you’re going to tell me why D.A. Hornby was hiding in that building with a gun?”
Before Walsh could protest, Dave Reyes stepped out from the behind the SUV with a disheveled looking Mac; his gun now in Dave’s possession.
Walsh let out a huge, frustrated sigh. “Mac was going to shoot Reyes and Tony for me after they handed over the files.”
“You are something else Walsh,” Reyes said as he shoved Mac next to the Chief and joined Tanner and Tony.
“Well unfortunately for you Chief, that isn’t going to happen,” Tanner began. “This photo here, my file, and Tony’s file are coming with me and will be burned. Your other files with your bribery and embezzlement I’ll be keeping safe with me, should you ever try to step out of line again. You will return Cassandra’s money, Detective Reyes will return safely back to California, and you will no longer harass Tony. And to ensure that all happens, Deputy Duffy will remain a member of Birchport PD to keep an eye on you. I need to have access to one person I trust in there. Do I make myself clear?”
“Yes Tanner,” Chief Walsh and Mac said in unison sullenly.
“Don’t look so down guys,” Tanner smiled. “You both still have jobs.”
Tanner motioned for the Chief and Mac to leave. The two defeated men quickly hopped into Chief Walsh’s SUV and took off with tires squealing.
“Holy shit they fell for it,” Tanner exclaimed wrapping Tony into a bear hug once the SUV was out of sight.
“I’m impressed,” Dave said. “When you showed up to the cabin, I wasn’t sure if you could pull it off or that you would stick to the plan, but I was wrong.” Dave shook Tanner’s hand with respect.
“I can’t thank you enough either Tanner,” Tony said smiling and mildly sore from the tight squeeze that Tanner had just given him. “I know we’ve had our differences in the past and I’m still not a big fan of your family, but helping me and Duffy and Cass like you did…thank you.”
“Awww. It was nothing Rez!” Tanner said playfully punching Tony’s arm.
“Let’s find Duffy and tell him the good news,” Reyes said as the three began to walk towards their car.
___
“Why isn’t your guy answering, Tommy?” Mac barked as Walsh steered his SUV towards the other end of the dock district where he had Tony Rez’s dad tied up and guarded.
“I don’t fucking know, but when I get there I’ll kill him and old man Rez myself,” Walsh snapped back. “I’ll show Tanner that I won’t be made a fool and that I still run this town. Sterling name be damned!”
Walsh’s SUV came screeching to a halt where a small crowd of people had gathered near Rez’s boats. The Chief and Mac exited the vehicle, hearing the faint sound of sirens in the distance.
“What’s going on here?” Walsh asked as he and Hornby pushed their way through the crowd. As they got clear of the onlookers, Chief Walsh noticed an unconscious man, wearing black armor, face down on the ground with his hands cuffed behind his back. A smiling Jeff Duffy stood next to him with his exposed arms folded across his chest and his black athletic shorts gently swaying in the light breeze.
“Duffy?” Walsh said in complete shock.
“Chief Walsh! There you are,” the Deputy said excitedly. “I caught this man holding Mr. Rez hostage while I was out for my morning run. I told him I was an off duty Deputy of Birchport PD, you know, cuz he didn’t believe me since I’m not in uniform. He tried to attack me so I had to knock him out. Once he wakes up I’ll read him his rights.”
Walsh caught sight of Tanner, Reyes, and Tony Rez approaching out of the corner of his eye before he could respond to Duffy. Tony ran up to his father enveloping him in a hug, while Tanner and Reyes stared daggers at the Chief. “Good job Duffy,” Walsh finally said with a hard swallow. “Why don’t you help keep the crowd at a safe distance until back-up arrives.”
“Yessir,” Duffy exclaimed. As he turned to begin corralling the crowd, Duffy made eye contact with Reyes. He winked.
“Clever bastard,” Reyes muttered to himself as he smiled back at Duffy.
“How did Duffy know to come check on Tony’s dad?” Tanner whispered to Reyes.
“He’s worked for Walsh for a long time,” Reyes answered. “He must have figured he’d try to tie up all loose ends.”
Reyes looked back over towards Duffy proudly, before looking back at a clearly frustrated Chief Walsh and D.A. Hornby.
The Chief caught Reyes and Tanner smiling at him and he turned away in disgust, dragging Mac away with him. As the two men got back into the SUV, Chief Walsh pulled out his phone.
“Who are you calling? Mac asked Walsh curiously.
“Someone more powerful than the Sterling’s. It’s bad enough I have to put up with Pierce, but I will not tolerate answering to that pretty boy son of his.”
___
Eighteen Months Later (Six Months Prior to Veil of Secrets)
JEFF: Hey I’m at the coffee shop. You coming?
TONY: yup. Be there in like 5.
JEFF: kk
Jeff put his phone down onto the table and took a sip from his coffee.
“Sorry babe, the line was a little slow,” an attractive brunette woman said as she sat down across from Jeff. “So what should we explore in this quaint little town later?”
“I’m sorry, but I think you have me mistaken for someone else,” Jeff said apologetically.
“Stop being silly, Jake,” the woman laughed as she took a sip of her beverage.
“Jake? My name is Jeff.”
“Honey,” the woman heard another man call out as he approached the table. The man stopped dead in his tracks upon seeing Jeff.
The woman looked between the two, her mouth soon agape.
Jeff looked up towards the other man in utter disbelief. He slowly rose from his chair, his eyes never leaving the other man. “You’re me?”
“Holy shit,” Tony said as he arrived at the coffee shop to see his boyfriend Jeff looking at another man with Jeff’s face. “You have a twin?”
The other man finally broke the tension between he and Jeff, extending his hand to introduce himself. “I’m Jake. Jake Contreras. And this is my wife Cecile.”

End Note: Thank you for reading my Veil of Secrets prequel series. Ever since the twist involving Duffy was revealed in canon, I knew I wanted to write a fic to retcon that for my AU. I also wanted to give some substance to Tony Rez because I didn’t get why he would be featured in the marketing, but have no real storyline in canon. As for this ending, well I called out in my fic Captive that Duffy and Tanner in canon were replaced by Eros. This ending sets up Cecile’s arrival in Birchport. At some point, I will do a story that is set after Veil of Secrets because obviously Tony and Duffy seem happy here, but weren’t together in canon, so I need to resolve that. 😂

A couple of weeks had passed since the gang was at Charlotte’s house celebrating her success with The Last Duchess and supporting her telling the world of Viktor Montmartre’s unprofessional and inappropriate behavior. The world took notice and was firmly on Charlotte’s side. She finally felt a sense of normalcy returning to her life and wanted to have a celebration with her closest friends and co-stars. That and, well, she had lived in this mansion for a while now and hadn’t thrown an actual Hollywood party yet.
“Should we arrive separately?” Seth asked as he stood beside the passenger side door of Matt’s sports car. “I just wonder if enough time has passed so that we can share the news with our friends.”
“You’re still nervous that they’ll be upset we didn’t tell them sooner?” Matt asked as the proximity sensor on his car detected the key fob and unlocked the doors.
Seth opened the door on his side of the car, but rested his hands upon the roof. “It’s just…I don’t want Iowa thinking that we are interfering with her cause of driving awareness to her plight. Like, by Hollywood standards, Matt Rodriguez dating someone new is breaking news.”
Matt couldn’t suppress the chuckle that escaped his mouth. “She isn’t going to think that Seth. And we aren’t booking an interview with Leland St. James to confirm what was speculated a few weeks ago. We’re simply telling our friends.”
“Yeah. No you’re right. The gang deserves to hear it officially from us.”
“Right,” Matt nodded. “Now get your cute butt in the car. We’re already late.”
___
The party was in full swing by the time Matt and Seth arrived. All of their friends, and many other familiar faces, were enjoying the beautiful California sun beside the opulent pool and patio area of Charlotte’s home. She immediately noticed the pair enter and came over to greet them on the arm of Thomas Hunt.
“Hey guys,” Charlotte said as she hugged them both. “So glad you could join us. Where are your suits?”
“I don’t see anyone else dressed formally?” Seth questioned with a look of confusion. All the other partygoers appeared as casual as him. Hell, even Hunt was wearing shorts and a polo instead of his typical attire. Charlotte must have really gotten him to relax and unwind a bit in their short time together. She certainly had the personality that just put people at ease.
“She means swimsuits Seth,” Matt said as he stepped out of his shoes. He pulled off his t-shirt and quickly removed his jeans to reveal a designer pair of swim trunks underneath. “I’m good to go,” Matt proclaimed as he picked up his discarded clothes and placed them onto a nearby lounge chair.
All eyes of the group turned back towards Seth. “Yeah….I knew that. Totally,” he stammered. “I forgot mine.”
“I got an extra one in my car,” Matt said as he retrieved his keys from his jeans pocket.
“If they’re as tight as your jeans are, then I don’t know if they’ll fit me,” Seth answered as Matt flipped him the fob.
Charlotte and Thomas exchanged a curious glance with each other as Seth made his way back towards the car. Matt caught their look and quickly excused himself to go get a drink.
“You think the rumor is true?” Thomas asked Charlotte once Matt and Seth were out of ear shot.
“Yup.”
___
Seth slipped on the spare pair of swim shorts that Matt let him borrow. Yup. Tight fit as expected. He pulled at the crotch trying to loosen the fit a little, not wanting to give all the party attendees a glimpse of his manhood. “I might as well be wearing underwear,” Seth said aloud to himself. He checked himself out in the guest room’s full length mirror and despite not being a fan of tight clothing; he had to admit that he looked damn good.
As he folded his discarded clothes on the guest bed; Charlotte entered the room. She looked as stunning as ever. And happy. “Hey Iowa,” Seth greeted as he neatly placed his folded shirt on top of his folded jeans. “Shouldn’t you be down at party entertaining your guests? I wouldn’t leave Hunt to that all on his own. He might scare people off.”
Charlotte laughed. “I think he’ll be okay alone for a few minutes. I just thought we could talk?”
“Of course Iowa.” Seth placed his clothes beside him as he leaned his tall frame against the long dresser. Charlotte ran over and wrapped her arms around his body, squeezing him tightly. Seth did the same. “What’s this for?”
“For just being you,” Charlotte cried into Seth’s bare chest. “I should’ve told you and Matt that I was having feelings for Thomas. You both have supported me so much and I put my own feelings ahead of you. I didn’t even think about how you might feel seeing me with him at the wrap party. I’m sorry Seth.”
A couple tears started to well in Seth’s eyes, but he quickly blinked them away. He hadn’t expected an apology from Charlotte and honestly, it wasn’t necessary. She hadn’t done anything wrong. Seth had come to that realization a mere days after he found out about her and Hunt dating. “You have nothing to be sorry about Iowa,” Seth said as he tilted her her head up to look into her eyes. “You’re my best friend here. That isn’t going to change.”
“But I still should have told you Seth. A good friend would have been honest with you. And I feel like that’s why neither you or Matt could tell me about your relationship…”
“Whoa whoa whoa,” Seth interrupted. “Whaaaaaat? Matt and I are just friends.”
“Seth. You are literally in his shorts as we speak. You don’t have to pretend around me.” Charlotte crossed her arms and shot Seth an inquisitive look.
“Okay, okay.” Seth let out a heavy sigh. “We wanted to tell you, but we wanted to wait until after you were able to tell your story. I told Matt we should keep the focus on The Last Ducthess. Matt and I wanted to tell you; all of you. Together. So please, please, please don’t tell him I said anything.”
Charlotte wrapped her friend up into a hug once more, but this time she smiled into his bare chest. “I’m so happy for you both Seth.”
“Me too. Hey, remember when shortly after you got to LA, and you told me you met him, and I asked you if you thought I was Matt’s type?” Seth asked. He felt Charlotte nod affirmatively against his chest. “Well I can confirm that I totally am!”
The two friends laughed before deciding it was time to head back down to the party. Besides, Charlotte knew it was time to save Hunt from some unpleasant social mingling.
___
With a cold drink in hand, Matt plopped himself down beside Teja and Victoria on one of the oversized and covered patio loungers. “Hello ladies. Having a good time?”
“MMMAAATTT,” Teja exclaimed, quickly bounding over to his chair and wrapping her arms around him. “This party is awwwwwesome!”
“It seems so,” Matt hugged Teja back while giving Victoria a look.
Victoria took a sip of her wine with a smile. “Teja may have thought she could go toe-to-toe with me when we were pre-gaming. I warned her cuz she hardly ever drinks, but props for trying.”
“You’re so muscly Matt. It’s like hugging a boulder,” Teja slurred. “A sexy boulder, but a boulder none the less.”
Matt and Victoria both laughed. Teja curled up beside Matt on his lounger, muttering to herself before falling asleep.
“How much has she had to drink?” Matt asked
“Three glasses of wine and two shots of whiskey,” Victoria answered point blank.
Matt was shocked. “That’s it?” Victoria simply nodded, taking another sip of her wine. “So how are things Victoria? Glad to be back from New York?”
“Absolutely. I love to visit, but I just love here more.”
“Well I’m glad you’re back. We’ve all missed you,” Matt replied before taking a sip of his drink.
Victoria nodded. “I agree. We have so much to catch up on Matt. Like you and Levine becoming a thing.”
Matt knew he heard what Victoria just said, but he was caught off guard. He coughed, nearly spitting out his whiskey. “Um…what? Seth and I…”
“…are totally fucking,” Victoria finished Matt’s sentence. She enjoyed seeing him get flustered. Victoria didn’t care one bit who Matt dated or slept with, she just wished that the two of them would have told their friend group by now. It had been several weeks since the photo and story broke, but Matt and Seth were still avoiding the topic. Victoria thought it was high time to get to the truth. “I can totally spot the Deflect and Pivot technique when I see it Matt. I perfected it for fucks sake.”
“You knew we were doing that?” Matt swallowed hard.
“It’s a rookie move Rodriguez. Friggin ‘Dum Dum’ Fortnum over there probably knows how it works,” Victoria postulated as she motioned across the pool area to a shirtless and confused looking Chadley. His feet were dangling in the water while he sat beside Finn Wildfire. “Let me guess. It was Levine’s idea?”
Matt nodded in agreement. “I thought it was a smart play because we wanted the focus to stay on Charlotte.”
“I get it Matt,” Victoria acknowledged. “And look, I’m happy for you and Seth. You’re an amazing guy and he’s sweet…in a neurotic and weird way.”
The two movie stars shared a brief laugh as Teja shifted on the lounger. “Does Seth think he’s hugging a sexy boulder when you two are doing it?” Teja snickered, fully awake and perfectly coherent.
The color completely flushed from Matt’s face at the realization that Teja wasn’t drunk and had heard everything he and Victoria discussed. He looked back and forth between the two women, both of whom were smiling broadly.
“It’s called a Distraction Tactic,” Victoria explained before finishing the rest of her wine. “You let your guard down when you thought Teja was drunk, allowing me to swoop in and extract the information I needed. You’ve got lots to learn Matt, but stick with me and you’ll get an Audrey in no time.”
Before Matt could respond, he noticed Seth approaching with Charlotte and Hunt in tow. “Excuse me ladies, I’ll be right back,” he said as he sprinted across the pool area towards the others. Matt hooked Seth by the elbow and pulled him towards the house. “Hey Charlotte. Great party. Can I steal Seth for a minute? Awesome. Thanks.”
Charlotte and Hunt stood dumbfounded as Matt escorted Seth into the house. “I thought Seth was the odd one?” Hunt questioned with a smirk.
“Was that your attempt at humor?” Charlotte playfully replied as she pulled Hunt along with her to join Victoria and Teja.
___
“Matt. What is…” Seth gasped as he was pulled into the hallway by the kitchen, but he was cut off.
“They already know about us Seth.” Matt whispered as he gently rubbed Seth’s arm, hoping his soothing touch would keep the comedian calm. The two had agreed that today was the day to come clean to their friends. They had a plan, but that plan was now thrown out of the window. The last thing Matt wanted was for Seth to panic since their secret had been discovered. Matt was just about to lead Seth into the nearby bathroom so they could talk privately, when the door suddenly opened.
“Oh hey Matt,” a startled Chadley greeted. “It’s good to see you. How have you been? I’m sorry about everything that went down with Double Agent.”
“Chadley! Hey. You startled me.” The usually collected Matt was completely flustered, unsure of what Chadley may have overheard. “Oh and no worries about Double Agent. You didn’t do anything wrong.” That was the worst thing about The Last Duchess besting Double Agent at the box office - Chadley was still part of the losing film. He really didn’t deserve to be attached to that flop, especially after how he had been there for Charlotte. Matt promised himself after Charlotte had told him how supportive the up-and-coming actor was that he would make sure Chadley’s career didn’t suffer blowback because of Montemarte.
Chadley smiled wide; happy to hear Matt’s words. “Ok cool. I’m so glad Charlotte was successful and we’re still friends. She’s awesome!”
“Yeah she is. But hey Chadley, I’ll catch up with you later. I’ve gotta talk to my friend Seth privately for a minute,” Matt said as Seth gave Chadley a friendly little wave.
“Boyfriend,” Chadley said emphatically. “I almost didn’t notice the Deflect and Pivot, but when I did I got so happy for you.” Chadley beamed with pride as he wrapped his muscular arms around Matt’s own muscled body. “He’s very hot,” Chadley whispered into Matt’s ear loud enough for Seth to hear before he bounded back out to the pool area.
Fucking Victoria. I hate when she’s right Matt thought to himself as he yanked Seth into the bathroom with him. Matt looked Seth’s body up and down after he locked the bathroom door behind them. He couldn’t help admiring just how well the borrowed swimsuit fit him. It hugged his frame snuggly and sat low on Seth’s hips. The thin fabric barely hid the prominence that Seth possessed. Matt couldn’t help the slight gasp that escaped from his mouth and the involuntary action of his tongue licking his lips as his eyes lingered on his boyfriend’s bulge. Yes, boyfriend. “I..umm… damn you look good.”
“My eyes are up here, Matt,” Seth joked, once again adjusting the tight fabric of the swimsuit. “And full disclosure, I know our friends know. Charlotte called me out about it upstairs.” Seth exhaled as he looked into Matt’s eyes. “We had planned to come clean about us tonight anyway. Well this just made it so much easier.”
Relief washed over Matt as he saw the calm in Seth. “I thought you’d be so worried that things didn’t go as planned.”
“For a moment, I was,” Seth comforted as he wrapped his arms around Matt. “But then I realized, we don’t need to be worried about our friends. They’ve never give us a reason to doubt they’re support.” Seth kissed Matt deeply, his tongue parting the actor’s soft lips. His hands roamed Matt’s sinewy back before grabbing handfuls of asscheeks.
“Mmmm,” Matt moaned into Seth’s kiss with a little giggle. He kissed him back a little harder as Seth’s hands continued to squeeze his bum. “We should probably get back to the party,” Matt finally bemused after several minutes of intimate kissing. “But we will certainly pick this back up later.”
The new couple rejoined their friends and confirmed their relationship. The two informed the others all about their mindset for keeping things under wraps for a while. Everyone understood their rationale, with Charlotte especially expressing her gratitude and thanks; but now she was just happy that two of her closest friends; two people she loved, were finally free from their secret burden.
___
Laughter filled the air as the night progressed and the party started to wind down. The group sat around one of the large patio tables as guests bid their farewells to Charlotte.
“Thanks for inviting me Charlotte,” Chadley said as he hugged his former co-star. “Finn and I had a great time.”
“I’m so glad you both came! I can’t wait until I get to have a night out with Finley,” Charlotte shrieked.
“No, I’m Chadley.”
“Finley is our couples name buddy,” Finn said as he pulled Chadley tightly against him around the shoulder. “I’ll explain in the car later.”
Chadley nodded as Charlotte giggled. “So I’m sorry about Double Agent. You were the best part about that whole film and I hate that you weren’t in something better.”
“It’s okay,” Chadley said proudly. “ While Double Agent was in post, I started work on a new movie - Veil of Secrets. I play a cop that terrorizes a beach town. And I’m in talks to play this guy Maxwell in a movie about some royals. It’s based off his book and my new agent wants me to meet him next week!”
“That is fantastic Chadley,” Charlotte gushed. She hugged Chadley and Finn farewell before the young couple departed; leaving Charlotte to rejoin her other friends. “After speaking with Finley, I just realized how we can celebrate Matt and Seth being in a relationship. You both need a couples name.”
“Nothing is more tragic than this ridiculous social media trend of the name mashup,” Hunt complained. He swirled his whiskey tumblr before taking a casual sip.
“I think it’s cute,” Teja chimed in.
“I rest my case,” Hunt answered.
“I like ‘Meth,’” the comedian said in a completely serious tone. He was met with complete and utter silence from his friends. “Not the drug. As a couples name. No? Maybe ‘Math?’”
“That’s your boyfriend,” Victoria proclaimed knocking back another glass of wine.
“Yeah he is,” Matt said proudly as he intertwined his fingers with Seth’s. He brought their joined hand to his lips and kissed Seth’s knuckles. “I love you dork.”
Seth laughed. “I love you too washboard abs guy… er, sexy muscles something… I’ll keep working on a better nickname.”

Part Five Summary:
Following Tony Rez’s admission, the trio leaves Birchport to evade Walsh.
***
He said he would kill Jeff.
The words that Duffy’s ex-boyfriend uttered had sent a shiver down his spine. Now he and Tony were in Reyes’ rental car heading out of Birchport to a safe house a couple hours away that Dave’s P.I. friend owned.
“You got any snacks? I’m starving.” Tony strummed his fingers against the back door as Dave piloted the sedan along the highway.
“We probably should stop to get food and water since we don’t want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere and in this heat without either. Plus we don’t know what’s at your friend’s place,” Duffy said turning towards the handsome driver, his stomach letting out a slight growl concurring with Tony’s hunger.
Reyes nodded in agreement and steered the vehicle towards the next exit, hoping to find a small grocery store along this rural part of the Bay State. A short few miles later, the trio came upon a rundown, but operational gas station with a weathered looking convenience store.
“I’ll get us some gas,” Duffy said as Dave parked the car beside one of the ancient looking pumps.
“Guess I’ll grab us some grub with this one,” Reyes said opening the driver’s door and making a gesture towards the backseat occupant.
Tony took notice of Dave looking over his shoulder at Jeff pumping gas as he and the Detective walked into the building. “So are you and Jeff a thing?”
“Huh?” Dave replied being caught off guard with Tony’s question.
“Are you and Jeff fucking?” Tony asked bluntly.
“What? No!”
“But you want to. I can tell.” Tony grabbed a bag of Cheez-If’s from the shelf before making his way towards one of the drink coolers in the back. Dave stood stone faced, shocked at Tony Rez’s straightforward assumption. He wasn’t wrong though. “It’s okay,” Tony continued. “I understand. I mean, have you looked at his ass? Squats have done that man good. So if you were into him, it’s cool. Jeff and I broke up a long time ago.”
“Where is this coming from Tony?” Reyes asked as he started grabbing some sustenance himself.
“I saw how Jeff was sneaking glances at you in the car. He deserves to be happy.” Tony made another loop through the store before stopping back at the snack chips section. “He’s been single since we broke up and I just don’t want to see him end up alone.”
“You still love him don’t you?” Dave could sense that something was still there in Tony for Jeff. The tone of Tony’s voice, despite his best effort to portray happiness, gave it away. The beanie wearing man still had a soft spot in his heart for the Deputy.
“Of course, but I messed up my chance a long time ago,” Tony said admitting defeat to Dave’s question.
The bell attached to the front door jingled causing both Reyes and Tony to turn and see Duffy entering the store. Their conversation ceased. Tony grabbed another bag of chips - salt and vinegar this time - while Dave eyed the candy bars.
“Almost ready?” Duffy asked as he walked past both men with a small cart. He proceeded to the drink cooler and grabbed several gallon jugs of water to help combat the extreme heat outside, before spotting some chocolate ganache candy. “Oooooh. How can I resist these?” Duffy questioned jovially while scooping up a handful.
Dave paid for the items in cash and the three men got back on the road. The remainder of the drive to the safe house went by rather quickly, despite the lack of conversation between the three occupants.
___
Nestled deep in the woods, secluded from the roadway and any prying eyes, Dave parked the rental sedan behind the cabin that he and his two fellow travelers would be staying at for a night or two while they figured out their next move. When Tony Rez had told them that Walsh had sent him to find what the Detective had taken or he’d kill Duffy, Reyes figured it would be best to get out of town.
“So what I don’t understand is why the Chief thinks that Duffy is helping me?” Reyes questioned as he got out of the car.
“But I am helping you,” Duffy answered.
“Well now you are, but back at the station you didn’t have a clue that I was there looking for files to help my friend.” Reyes opened the trunk so Duffy and Tony could grab the bags inside.
“I don’t believe Walsh thinks Duffy helped you take the files,” Tony answered grabbing a duffel bag and flinging it over his shoulder. “I went to Duffy’s to warn him and get him to leave town. I didn’t expect to find you there. By the way, why were you there?”
“I figured that the first place Walsh would look for me would be my hotel room and the last place he’d look would be Duffy’s place. And I wanted to apologize to him for what happened at the police station,” Dave answered as he shut the car’s trunk and led the others to the front porch.
Dave unlocked the door of the cabin ready to escape the sweltering summer heat, but as soon as he stepped inside he found that the cabin’s interior was just as hot.
“Geez! It’s like a fucking sauna in here,” Tony said the moment he walked through the door. He quickly removed his flannel and peeled off his white t-shirt in an effort to get cool.
“Let’s open some windows,” Dave said as he motioned for Tony to help him. “This place has been locked up tight for who knows how long. We just need to get some air circulating.”
“There’s not really a breeze outside,” Tony protested.
“It’s worth a shot,” Reyes countered as he opened the window above the kitchen sink.
Duffy was the last to enter the cabin, dropping the bags of chips, the drinks, and other snack items purchased from their earlier market stop onto the kitchen table. “Just a bit hot in here isn’t it?” Duffy said with a smile.
“Awww you noticed I’ve been working out,” Tony quipped as he flexed a bicep with a huge grin.
Duffy rolled his eyes. Tony had always looked good to him and tonight was no exception. “I’m gonna take a shower. We rushed out of my apartment so quick that I didn’t get to rinse off after the gym.”
“I was wondering what stunk in the car,” Tony joked. Even Reyes chuckled at the comment.
As Duffy excused himself to the bathroom, Reyes and Tony each pulled up a spot on the couch. The moment Dave heard Duffy turn the water on in the shower, he picked right back up with the conversation he and Tony were having in the convenience store earlier. “How did you mess things up with Duffy?”
Tony let out a huge sigh, running a hand through his hair. He had only ever spoken to Cassandra about his break-up, but even then he didn’t go into many details. For the most part, he just bottled everything up inside. In a way, it would feel nice to finally get his feelings out, but the fact that the guy asking him was most likely going to be hooking up with his ex-boyfriend tonight made it a bit awkward. “Jeff was the best thing to ever happen to me,” Tony began. “He made me want to be a better person. I loved him and I know he loved me. But our relationship was a huge bone of contention for my dad.”
“Daddy didn’t approve?”
“That’s an understatement. You have no idea how much I tried to please my dad, but nothing I did was ever good enough. And I knew that if I stayed with Jeff, I’d be holding him back.” Tony got up from the couch to fetch one of the drinks left on the kitchen table. “I never told Jeff this,” Tony said after taking a sip of the water, “but the day I broke up with him, I had an argument with my dad. It was the same day Jeff got accepted into the police academy and I used that news as my reason to call things off. The proudest day of his life and I ruined it for him. I had to do it so he’d have a chance at a better life, with some respect, and someone that the rest of Birchport didn’t consider a degenerate. It just sucks that I hurt him.”
“All these years keeping that in Tony. Why didn’t you just tell Duffy in the beginning?” Reyes asked. This was the side of Tony Rez he figured was real. The stuff in Walsh’s files portrayed an inconsistent criminal with no pattern, no rhyme or reason as to why he got involved in the things he did.
“I was young and stupid. I thought the best thing for Jeff was a career he loved and a chance to find someone that wouldn’t cause people to snicker when they were out together.” Tears began to streak down Tony’s cheek.
“All this time Tony, I thought I did something to drive you away,” Duffy said standing in the hallway door frame. His body was still slightly wet from the shower under the black mesh gym shorts and white ribbed tank top he was wearing.
“That’s the second time you’ve snuck up on us. How did we not hear you again?” Reyes questioned as he took in the sight of the attractive Deputy.
“I’m sorry Jeff,” Tony said ignoring Dave’s commentary, but also appreciating his ex-boyfriend’s beauty.
“I hurt for so long Tony. I’d see you around town and all my feelings for you would come flooding back. But you would avoid me and it broke me.” Jeff’s eyes began to well up with tears. “Until Reyes, I hadn’t wanted to be with anyone else because I always hoped we’d get back together, despite the troubles you got yourself into.”
“I figured you and Dave…”
“No,” Reyes interrupted, “Duffy and I haven’t done anything. I wanted to. I tried to seduce him at the jail, but he resisted my advances. So I began appealing to his humanity and logic about Walsh in order to trick him so I could escape. Sorry about that Duffy.”
The lie hurt inside, but Reyes knew it was the right thing to say. As much as he found the Deputy to be attractive, nothing between them would ever amount to more than a passing fling. But Duffy and Tony? Reyes could see that their bond was so much more.
Duffy looked at Reyes, his tearful eyes giving him thankful look. “I appreciate you saying that Dave, but I need to be honest with Tony. I don’t want anymore secrets between us.”
Dave nodded in understanding.
“Something did happen between Dave and I,” Duffy continued turning to face Tony. “He was the the only guy I’ve done anything with since we broke up. I’ve never stopped loving you Tony, but I had a moment of weakness.”
Jeff and Tony looked into each other’s tearful eyes and in an instant they were locked in a warm, loving embrace. It had been a long time since the two have felt each other’s touch, but despite the years apart, their bodies instantly reignited the remaining embers of their forbidden romance bringing back the full fire of their passion.
“I don’t blame you for wanting Dave,” Tony finally said breaking his hug. He wiped a tear from Jeff’s cheek with his thumb. “He is hot.”
“I know right,” Jeff chuckled drying the rest of his eyes.
“Awww shucks guys,” Reyes said playfully. “You sure know how to make a guy blush.”
The three men laughed together, finally breaking the unspoken tension between them.
“So I hate to bring things back to business, but we need to figure out what we’re gonna do about Walsh,” Reyes continued after the laughter died down.
“I think I have an idea for that,” Duffy replied.
