your stoic f/o’s love for you is canon compliant. they are capable of feeling love and showing affection. and you’ve surely done the work you need to show them you’re a safe and trustworthy person; they wouldn’t be dating you if you didn’t.

think about it: they’ve got passions, don’t they? they have a hobby they sink loads of hours into on a regular basis. they have a favorite type of music, or a favorite movie or sport, or a collection they’re proud of. they’ll defend the “correct” way to take their coffee or tea like their life depends on it. they’ve got opinions— strong ones, at that. so who’s to say it wouldn’t be possible for them to commit to another person? who’s to say they can’t love someone like they love their other interests?

if i asked how you know your partner loves you, you’d be able to name a slew of things they do to show their appreciation for you, wouldn’t you? a stoic f/o is not a “devoid of all emotion” f/o. your place in their life is not undeserved or unrealistic. they care. they love you. i know you know that~
