IT’S SUMMER!!!!!
And because the sun is shining and I’m feeling lovely, I’ve decided to do a giveaway!
The prize is the most amazing book of poetry (Healing Old Wounds With New Stitches) by Meggie C. Royer and something from me (I haven’t quite decided yet, but I promise you that it’ll be good!).
The rules are simple. All you have to do is reblog this post, and be following either Meggie (writingsforwinter) or me (r-jects). If you’re feeling ultra-generous, you can follow both of us, but you don’t have to! You must also have your ask box switched on, and reply to my message within a week.
Everyone will be put into a generator, and the winner will be chosen completely at random. Likes won’t count unfortunately, as I’m trying to spread the word about Meggie’s wonderful words!!
You can also have a copy of the ebook if you so wish.
Closing date is 1st July, choosing winners on the 2nd July.
Think that’s everything… Happy reblogging!
PS. If you don’t win, or want to guarantee yourself a copy, it is available to purchase via Where You Are Press on their etsy shop!

this life is yours to take it or to give it to the persons you love
nobody has any right to hinder your choice it was given to you alone
but remember – you only have a single chance and a gift wasted cannot be taken back

each day so long each day a song we sing with the joy of a life to enjoy our love is a gift it will never shift to the poisons we saw to rip others hearts raw

what a wall stands here a mirror between me and the thing that might soon be
just stay with me i can't tell you why 'cause if you leave i can't say good bye
but something stays and here what might be is torn to bits - broken broken for me

i thought you'd hold me tight but now i'm drifting ever farther from the shore
where none has swum before and though my hear is cold the horizon so far away
you are back there with open hands your eyes are tracing my odd path and do you wonder what is lost?

the lazy flies float in your hands two wells of soothing calm no wonder love does seek you out your overbrimming laughter
peace cloaked you with clover and bees puddled in your eyes blue as the eggs of the robin who lived in your silky curtains
no questions look under your mask of feathers, dreams and milk only the cat leaves fractiously her ears hearing tears behind the smile

why shake me so softly i can hold your hands my heart won't stop beating
all power gathers in the blue sky when dusk leaves night her reign and stars herald the mighty queen
we stand beneath them screaming our insignificance up maybe the moon will pity us
there is a world inside a world waiting to be uncovered, to unfurl showing yet another sky without stars

the fairy's hair is trailing long the leafy branches down she muses in song but her face wears a frown
the sparrows worry their whistles get high while the squirrels scurry around the trees - oh so shy
she waits for her lover but his breath is still far and she's about to uncover that's things weren't as they are although hope still lingers doubt is showing its nose holds her heart in his fingers with the thorns of a rose
she looks up to these gods though no secret's disclosed against all other odds her leaving's not supposed
she endures solitude graciously in order to see the dearest her eyes look tenaciously searching around for the nearest to disgorge herself in action her patience has worn thin but nothing to her satisfaction however the maple seedlings spin
there he comes – what a pace! but how his face is furrowed love has no space she knows - he was borrowed
time has called him away with the tide he was swept far from her grasp he went astray there is only left the northern star

my words are yours only but you deserve more – for they can't show the world as it reflects in your eyes
and this longing urges me to search deeper and deeper in mazes, breaking apart until i find the word
which shatters all so you comprehend that you are not alone with all your pain

sleep in my arms watch the lilies outside how they dance with the ever-changing dawn you didn't know then that the lilies were starving from the cold of the moon and the evading light the last time you came to me, to my broken lilies they littered the ground you walked on

all yarns woven together as stories are told from old to young they bind them, live
in their rough voices told in stormy nights when fear reigned death walked quietly
words nested in the roof slept in the heads of each and everyone called them when help was needed

you pull the quotes from the text like strings the whole story unraveling books lie in chaos at your feet words spilling over the pages crawling up the walls and the ceiling you stuff them in your mouth to keep them all in until i have to brush them out of your hair with careful fingers

the day my innocence left gone with the dust on my shelves gone with your flushed cheeks gone with the indian summer closing its eyes
i let it go to readily greeting adulthood with naïvety standing beneath great trees being a beetle in a nutshell
but it waits for me - in years yet to come the hour between sleep and dreams when i'm awake to catch it fluttering away

blaming yourself was an escape from the truth of others that shadowed your life
but fleeing is only a short run and living is not death is no dare
to tell you to fight is not my duty but i would fight if i could in your stead
