this strange perception ignorant people have of religion as being some depthless form of control and nothing more, they tell on themselves as having no spirituality or wonder. it is very interesting to me and i find it very telling. you really either get it or you don't

So not only is this transman ripping out JKRs name from the book, she's also attempting to sell them at something like $170 per book and 1.1k per set. I think that's somewhat illegal?
And what does this do anyway? JKRs name is well known, those books are well known what is this performative bullshit? Just a rant because this woman really took "men steal and take credit for women's work" to heart and did just that like???

When talking to toddlers, you have to be extremely, explicitly clear about what you say, cover every possibility you can think of in which they might misunderstand it, and with trial and error and experience, you'll learn to also cover the possibilities that wouldn't have crossed your mind. If you tell a toddler, "whatever you do, do not touch that electric wire. Not even with your pinky finger, because if you do, you will die" and once you're finally sure they understood that, you'll turn your eyes away for two seconds
and they're right at the wire, trying to see what happens if they'll touch it with their pinky toe instead.
You don't usually have to do this with adults. An adult who is allergic to pineapples can hear someone say, "eating pineapple is good for you", evaluate this piece of information, conclude that this is probably true for people who aren't allergic to pineapple, shrug it off and carry on with their day.
Unless you're on tumblr. Tumblr posts must be worded like toddler talk, cover every possibility in which someone might misunderstand it, remember to mention people who do not have this problem you are talking about, cannot employ this solution, or who otherwise have nothing to do with this conversation.
You can't just say "eating pineapple is good for you", you'll have to make sure to specify "eating pineapple is good, unless you are allergic to pineapple, in which case do not eat pineapple". And then get promptly informed that you you forgot to mention people who suffer from some extremely rare cliantro-soap-gene that makes pineapple taste like ass, and consequently offended someone who still ships Harry Potter Characters.

Study shows Millennial Men do not think of women as their equals
A majority of millennial men failed to see women as equals, according to the study, which looked at how college biology students viewed their classmates’ intelligence and achievements, the Harvard Business Review reported.
Among the findings:
In every biology class surveyed, a man was seen as the most celebrated student, even in instances where women earned significantly better grades.
Men were also found to overestimate the intelligence of their male classmates over that of female ones.
Men continued exaggerating their assessments of the male peers, despite unequivocal evidence that their female peers were performing better.
Women, conversely, weren’t found to display a bias: Their assessments of fellow classmates tended to be spot-on.
The National Institutes of Health researchers pointed out that female STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) majors drop out at significantly higher rates than their male counterparts.
“The reasons for this difference are complex, and one possible contributing factor is the social environment women experience in the classroom,” they wrote.
Still, scores of men are under the impression that they’ve become the target of reverse sexism. Conservative columnist John Hawkins ranted in Town Hall last year:
“Men have it rougher in America than most people realize. In part, that’s because they’re one of the few groups (along with white people, conservatives, and Christians) it’s cool to crap on at every opportunity. In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a nonstop assault on masculinity in America.”
But research has confirmed the reality of gender bias against women. A staggering 90 percent of women reported experiencing gender harassment in the workplace, a 2010 University of Michigan study found. The results suggest that such harassment had the purpose of driving women out of jobs and not the generally assumed motivation of trying to draw women into relationships.
“One could argue that, in these instances, ‘sexual harassment is used both to police and discipline the gender outlaw: the woman who dares to do a man’s job is made to pay,’” the researchers wrote, quoting an article by Katherine M. Franke, an associate professor of law at the University of Arizona College of Law.
As for millennial men specifically, they have been less accepting of female leaders than their older male counterparts, according to a 2014 survey of more than 2,000 adults residing in the United States, the Harvard Business Review reports.
Half of Millenial men said their careers would take priority over their partners’.
Three-fourths of women, on the other hand, said their careers would be at least as important as their husbands’.

If I, (an Indian woman) bleached my skin and said it was for self-empowerment, you would point out that regardless of intent my actions perpetuate colorism and racism.
If you agree with this statement, then you can understand how women getting plastic surgery, wearing makeup, and removing body hair in the name of self-empowerment perpetuates misogyny.

like everyone only cares about the theoretical woman who loves performing sex work and has complete control over that work and can quit anytime without it affecting her ability to survive. and this outlier hypothetical woman takes precedence over the actual overwhelming statistical reality that most women and children in the industry are quite literally sex slaves. that’s insane to me that if 1% of sex workers love their job, that nullifies the 99% who have no other choice, are trafficked, at the mercy of a pimp, go into sex work as a minor whether by choice or by force, don’t have control over what johns do to them or how many johns they have to have sexual intercourse with each day, etc etc. it’s like ok ... I guess their lives don’t matter as much? that’s effectively what ppl communicate when they make this pro-prostitution or pro-p*rnography argument
and anyone who claims to be a leftist or communist knows, or should know bc it’s part of the foundation of the ideology, that ALL work under capitalism is exploitation. so “sex work is work” is a stupid mantra to use in support of prostitution because “work” itself is exploitative ... ur really saying “sex work is exploitation”...

And THIS is why pretending biological sex has nothing to do with women/women’s rights is so dangerous. If we can’t label misogyny as misogyny anymore, how can we combat it?
